Hi! I am new to the team! I am motivated to lose ten pounds that I have allowed to creep on. I enjoy hiking, golf, barre and cooking. I love to support others as well!

This is Lynn. I love to spend time with family and friends trying new things. I play cards, go RV camping, sing around a campfire, play pickleball, entertain family and friends, pub night with chatty friends, explore British Columbia, Washington and the Southwest, learn new things and challenge myself.

My dietitian put me on a 1,400 calories a day food plan. I follow the 9" Plate & Canada Food Guide.

I hit onederland again in 2016 and it's a battle to stay there, but it's my new normal!

I travel about half the year.

Hi, I am Linda, 68 years old and feeling very old lately, live in Washington state close to the Canadian border. I have been working at weight issues most of my adult life and just seem to always plateau out and get discouraged... I have tried many of the SPARKS Challenges and am just looking for some new inspiration, motivation and success to finally see ONEderland... get under 200#. I am celiac and so gluten free, have heart stents and rebuilt lower back and pretty severe peripheral neuropathy, meaning I don't feel my feet or lower legs in a normal way [ anything from numb to painful to pins and needles an always struggling with swelling] and so have limited balance and walking ability. I have lost and maintained 30# loss since May 5 2015 and ready to really work hard at the next 6# on the way to loss of 46# to be at wedding weight of 1978. Anniversary is April 21...let's see who I do!!

Hi all,

My name is Shannon, I live in Brownsville Oregon. Married with no kids. I am 48 years young. Had a pretty stressful 2016 and ended up the year with a 16 pound gain. I am in need of some serious motivation, I was just checking out different SparkTeams and found this one. I am looking forward to being on this team and looking for some great friend and family time with all of you.

Hi Kim , Welcome to the Family. I am glad to See how enthusiastic you are. It is exciting to hear that some of our members are interested in challenges. You will want to get with our Co Leader Trev on some our challenges. Right Now AliceDixie is out on leave, she too tries to post challenges, if you like you can run some of your exciting challenge ideas in her spot until she comes back. This would help the team out. Thank you for choosing us as your Spark Family.

Hi, I'm Kim. I've been on SparkPeople forever (through different names) and have done very well in the past. 2016 I lost focus and hopefully will get it back in 2017.

I also love to do FitBit challenges, so if anyone is there maybe we can have some Workweek Hustle challenges emoticon

HELLO TEAM!
I am a previous Spark People member but lost sight of it because I allowed craziness in day to day life to break my normal personal goals routine.
I made promises to myself last year when I turned 40 that I did not follow through with and before I knew it a year passed and I'm heavier now than I was before I turned 40.
Since I am turning 41 next week, I am giving myself the birthday gift of motivation to DO IT THIS TIME!
My goal is to lose 80 pounds. I set incremental goal dates for myself and this time it will happen... and this time it will STICK!!!
I am also THIS TIME taking advantage of the communities and challenges to keep me motivated and keep me on track!

Hi, I'm Vicki and I turned 60 about a month ago. I'm wanting to get healthier and feel better in my own skin. One thing though is I've given up the scale. Unless I see a doctor and they insist I weigh, I'll no longer know those actual numbers.
My Goals:
I want to get back into at last a size 16/18.
I want to get to a point where I no longer need blood pressure pills.
I want to be more at peace within myself, regardless of my size.
I want to be comfortable in my own skin.

My Program:
Staying within my calorie range of 1200-1550
Eating pretty much what I enjoy but just smaller amounts, and keeping it as healthy as I can.
I can't do much in the way of exercise but I will be doing as much as I can.

Hello everyone! I'm SS and I'm excited about joining this team because it is focused on motivation and it seems to be an active team! I am back on spark after years away and gaining weight back. I've been back for about a month and loving it again. Doing my best to make exercise a regular occurrence and I've been tracking my food on spark, too. I hope everyone has a great day - a positive day - a day with a spark. emoticon

My name is Latisha and I just joined this team. It's a new month so I felt it was time to change some of my Spark Teams. I see some familiar names so I hope this is a good fit for me. I post daily and love to encourage others. My health goals are to workout daily and focus on my food/drink in take so I can reach my weight loss goals. Finally, I am hoping that this team do challenges from time to time so I can stay motivated.

Hello! My name is Eileen. I'm originally from Maine, but now live in Micco Florida which is in Brevard county. I'm not new to Sparkpeople. I've been around for a while trying to get serious about my weight loss. I'm finally motivated and am trying to me a motivator to others on here. It's the hardest job I ever have had, but I know with the good friends I've made on here, the good helps and my own determination I am going to make my goal! I'm a leader, co-leader or member on a few other teams, but hope to be active on this team too! I know a lot of you from other teams or blogs. Looking forward to getting to know more team members.
I remember when I was trying to lose weight all alone. It was no fun! I did manage to lose some serious weight, but gained it all back plus. Having others to work with along the way is so much better. I hope I can be that helper that someone on here needs. Together we can do this!

I'm Alice from TN. I grew up in NH but moved to TN to be near my daughter last year. I married my 7th grade crush this Feb and he moved here from TX. Of course he grew up in NH too. We had lost touch for 50 plus years.

My passion is to get everyone moving more. I was well over 200 pounds 7 years ago. I got cancer, been cancer free since, 7 years ago and decided it was time to get serious about my health. It took me a good year to get down to a normal weight, but I have been maintaining ever since. I took small but consistent steps and didn't beat myself up when I fell short of what I needed to do. Be change from previous attempts to get to a normal weight. Now I love exercise. I could hardly walk 1/2 mile 7 years ago without a lot of pain. Now I can easily walk 5 miles or more a day (I can easily go 3 or 4 miles on a treadmill at 4.0 to 4.2 miles an hour. I added strength training to my routine and now can leg press 120 pounds. Started with low weighs and again was consistent with my exercise. Again when I fell short I didn't beat myself up.

Two years ago I got my Silver Sneaker Certification to teach some classes. I will be 70 in Nov and I was in a group of people way younger than myself. It was hard not to feel like I didn't belong, but I kept at it until I got that certification. Older people teaching older people works out so much better. We understand what everyone is going through.

It can be done. Just start small, keep consistent (but do not beat yourself up if you fall short for a time) and focus more on getting healthier and feeling better than on the scale.

I still struggle with not putting that weight back on. It would be so easy to go back to where I was. My good exercise habits have helped me because I enjoy exercise - not always the case as it took time to develop this. So this is an on-going process for me and always will be.

I was named a spark motivator in 2014 found out about the team though another team who asked me why I did not belong so here I am to keep my spark alive its has been on low for a while. I live in Spokane WA We have a race each spring called Bloomsday its a 12k though our lovely city starts and ends in the down town area have a goal of completing the race in 2.5 walking the course. the fun thing about the race is everyone gets a finish time from elite runners who run for money to families out enjoying the event you have 4 hours to complete the course !
iI may not be at goal but I have not quite the race . looking forward to getting to know my teammates .

Hey everyone! I have been a MOD a couple of times since I have joined SparkPeople. I always seem to continue coming back to the community. I feel so relaxed and happy when I am here leaning and helping others as we all reach our goals together. I am at a new phase in my life, but I still need the support as when you spend the first 25 years of your life overweight, it is hard to maintain it. That is why I continue to be a member of SP. I know it will take a tribe to help keep my weight off.

I am excited to join these ranks as I did not realize this team was here.

👋 my name is Edith, I was introduced to SP in February, of 2015, by my daughter Lia who is a sparkite. She said she was tired of seeing me broken. Tired of seeing the look of death on my face. She lost her sister Lisa to colon cancer and her grandmother to uterine cancer, and she said, "I prayed too long and too hard and your not going to die like this." Although I joined in February, I did not engage. I was too busy taking care of everyone else, I had no time for me.
Gaining close to 60 pounds more, struggling to breathe, moving was not an option. I had over nine physical issues and two more added. Pseudoexfoliate Glaucoma in my left eye and cataracts in both. I literally struggled to see and thought I was going blind. But hearing 2 of my 10 grandsons, who was 5 and 7 at the time, conversating amongst themselves about me motivated me back to life. To have been a fly on my wall. I was all ways the motivator, go to person, but I couldn't find me.
You ask, you pray, you fast but you have to work in harmony with what your asking for. God didn't need my help, just my obedience, to heal this land, this temple I abused. Obedience is definetly better than sacrifice. I changed my eating habits.
I stopped living to eat, but eat healthy to live. Stopped eating meat October, my mobility and pain in back disappeared.
I am now able to get back to being Edith, and practice what I preach. My blog has more information. I love motivating people, encouraging people. Helping hurting peopl is my ministry, but who would have none.
" The meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away." -anonymous

emoticon my name's Linda.. our 7 grandchildren call me Grama Speedy. I've been a Sparker for over 5.5 years. When I joined SP I was 63 and weighed 330 pounds. I was motivated to change my lifestyle to be around a long time for my family, as well as addressing health issues that were speeding me towards being wheelchair bound.

Initially I lost 73 pounds by using the nutrition tracker while easing into strength training and nature walks. In the course of life's little speed-bumps I've had a number of challenges over the last 5+ years but knew if I ever quit I could not win the most important challenge of my life. To learn to love myself more than food and eat to live not live to eat.

I maintained that 73 pound loss for 18 months and then bounced around up and down 10-15 pounds... but just couldn't seem to get back to nor below my lowest weight with SP of 257 pounds.

emoticon My life has completely changed for the best since joining and I'm ready to be as committed to weight loss as I was when I first joined. Attitude has everything to do with success and surrounding myself with positive and supportive people is key... so I'm pleased to be part of this team and am ready to motivate and encourage you as well. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi! My name is Betsy and this is my 2nd time on SP! I was introduced to SP by a fellow mom who was in our MOMS/ Club~and the Club was sponsoring its own Biggest Loser Challenge. I loved learning about SP though it was VERY HARD at first for me b/c I only use the computer to read my e-mails! It is ALOT easier now with new items on SP than when I was on 6 years ago! Well, I came in third in the contest. Though I went on to lose the wt. {20 lbs. !~~which for me is ALOT!} in 4 and 1/2 mos and maintained for 8 mos.,I got offtrack and off SP when I became too tired, lazy and not exercising regularly {I also started Homeschooling at that point and couldn't keep up with everything!}. I DID get the coveted SPARKMOTIVATOR AWARD about a year after I joined !
Now I am newly retired{YAY!!!} . I have gained back the 20 lbs. I lost 6 years ago + 6 more lbs. I am learning to get on SP BEFORE our Homeschooling day and then type in before meals and after meals and copy foods for preplanning. I am slowly getting back into exercise after a rollerskating fall 4 weeks ago. I have lost 5 lbs. already! So , I KNOW it is a matter of TIME+HABITS to get the wt. loss off and then maintain and not get lazy again in food choices nor exercise, EVER!

We so wanted to have a family. We were awaiting adoption when I became pregnant. I miscarried at about two months. The social worker had placed us on standby. They would not place a child in our home for six months to allow a grieving period. Our special needs adopted son was born only one day off my due date. He was in foster care for five months so entered our lives almost one year after the miscarriage. We knew he would someday need dialysis and/or transplant. It seems like God knew this child would need a home and prepared us for him.

Hi Linda,It certainly is a blessing to have someone as beautiful as you on.our team. I love your story. I had a great nephew born with rare brain birth defect and his mother had to constantly care for him until he passed shortly before his 3rd birthday. Even though often offered to watch Little Parker, mom was reluctant to be away from him for any length of time. It will be some time before my nephew and his wife start taking better care of them selves. But we keep praying. I know Parker is not in any pain and is with the Lord now.
I admire parents that are so dedicated and loving to their children. God bless you.

Jill, I am Linda. I am retired, a widow, the mother and care partner of an adult son on home nightly hemodialysis. Did not focus seriously on own health until retired. Love being able to be more active. Only one asthma attack in last two years which is a blessing.
