Hi Ladies, I am new to the team. I am overweight, dah, what else is new?? I live in a senior mobile home park in Sacramento, where the weather here is hot, hot and hotter. I am doing a rain dance for rain and winter, but Mother Nature isn't paying any attention. I have 29 days of summer left and I am sure they will be hot. We have 94 days of summer and I count them down every single year. I am so sick of the sun and would kill for a cloudy or rainy day.

I have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. My oldest son Brian, kinda, sorta lives with me. He has a 51 foot yacht on the river and he stays on the boat/ship whatever you want to call it most of the time. He has 3 bedrooms and 3 full sized bathrooms a full galley (kitchen) and more amenities than me. My younger son lives in Bend OR and has his own flooring business, my daughter and family live in Shingle Springs, CO and hates it. Wants to move back to Sacramento. She is a CA gal and the snow and hail and rain in CO is not to her liking.

Well, I think that is all for me, any questions and I will be sure to answer them.

It's time for me to get back into the 3 meal-a-day groove. I'm about 40 pounds overweight and 65 years old. Arthritis is killing my knees and appearing in my back and hips, too. I know it's diet and weight related, and I know that Reinhard's approach to eating is the best and easiest way to go about getting healthier. I also follow Beck Lu Jackson, who applies the 3 meal-a-day approach to eating, but with a 12-Step twist. She has a great book called "Dieting:A Dry Drunk." I'm using both of these mentors to keep me along the "easier, softer" way. It's better than what I've been doing, which is dieting myself to the highest weight ever for my petite body. (I'm 5'1".)

I'm grateful this board is here, as I'm en route and can't remember my user name or password for the No S board :( Besides, I've been a member of Spark People for quite a while and have always loved this site.

I've started a 21-Day Streak, today being Day 1. Fortunately, it's an S day, but I'm going to keep it moderate because of the pain I'm experiencing while walking, and the airports aren't helping much: it seems that my gates are always at the very end of the terminals! I find my arthritis definitely flares up with sugar, "bad" fats, and empty starches, such as white flour.
