Hey howdy

I'm stuck in a rut where my taste buds are in the driver's seat with my eyes, and my body pays the price. I've been ill from food choices, overeating, bingeing and purgeing, and just general crap food. I've eaten probably 75% fast food/junk for about the past three years and change, and I just can't take it anymore.

Nothing tasted good for a long time. Amazingly, wine woke up the taste buds (finally got to taste more than alcohol--thank you nice people at the store on your recommendations), and it got me to realize the crap that I was eating. When I started eating a bit healthier, I ate slower and enjoyed it more.

But, old crap habits are rearing their head once in a while. I'm hoping to make mindful eating a good habit and not worry about living to eat (and let the process of cooking, the science of it and the smell excite me) and just shoveling it down so I can move on to the next thing. I find it funny that I wanna be more aware of what I'm eating and how it tastes, but I also don't wanna think about eating all the time...strange.

Or perhaps it's that I don't wanna think about which restaurant I want to visit for a quick meal over and over again because I didn't plan ahead, pack a lunch, eat breakfast, took another crazy shift, etc.

Yeah, lot of work to do, but I'm more than ready and willing to do it now. Just bought a bunch of fresh food to work with this week, and I am gonna love going through my cookbooks to make sure the recipes are right.
