Yes the Midwest does have some good riding trails. Sorry you had such a bad experience with the traffic in AZ (and the heat). Glad that you decided to give it another try. Very cool that you got the trailer so that you can take your daughter with you. She will get used to biking at a young age and hopefully ride her own bike when she gets older!

Sounds like you are getting some good miles in! Welcome to the group!

I am a road biker (but not a real fast one!). I just like to bike and ride some distances.

I used to ride all the time when we lived in Wisconsin. There were the most beautiful, paved trails, away from traffic and often next to lakes. Simply wonderful. We moved to AZ in the middle of summer so that put a damper on riding. Then I quickly realized that people aren't used to sharing the road, despite all the bike lanes. After almost getting hit several times with cars turning directly in front of me, I gave it up.

However, about a month ago, I remembered how happy I was when I was biking so I decided to give it another go. I am in a different city than I was when we first moved here so it's a bit better. Plus, I got a bike trailer to take my nearly 1 year old daughter along!

I've logged just over 100 miles for May so far!

Becky,

Every little bit of riding helps! Just work your way up there in mileage. Hopefully the indoor riding I'm doing will make it a little easier to transition back to riding outside.

Will look forward to any pics that you post!

Nice to meet you Sandy! Awesome riding goals for this year! I'm averaging about 10 miles per ride at the moment, working on pushing that up -- waiting for the sun! :)

Hi Deb!
I live in Northern California!! I have a sister moving to Ann Arbor later this summer, so I'll be out that way helping lift things at some point :)

Hi Sandy.
I figured you were having similar weather challenges in your neck of the woods. Glad to hear you are doing the Missing Children ride. I think you did that one last year? I am narrowing down the rides I'm thinking of doing. Just itching to get outside to ride, but probably won't be yet this week. Forecast is not too promising.

I look forward to hearing more of what you are doing as the season gets rolling.

Hi Becky! Welcome to the group. Road cyclist here too. Interested in doing some touring in the future but tried mountain biking and it really wasn't for me. I'd love to know how you like it once you start doing more.

I'm in the NorthEast so just like DEBSERVSIT not good riding weather since the fall. Hoping to get out soon to ride on the road. I also belong to a local cycling club and ride a couple times a week with them and do solo rides on other days. I'll avg 30 -40 miles on a typical ride. It's somewhat hilly where I live so the elevation can be somewhat of a challenge. Last year I entered the world of Triathlon and planning to do more of that this year too so I mix cycling with running and swimming.

Mostly been resigned to spin classes all winter. Currently prepping for a 100 mile charity Ride for Missing Children that will take place end of May. So I'll need to get some saddle time in the next couple months for sure.

Thanks for the introduction and happy, safe riding!

Hi Becky--I am the co-leader for this group, although there isn't always a lot of activity here. There seem to be a lot of people listed on this team, but I don't get a lot of people posting.

I have been riding for the past six years, the last five with my road bike. I belong to a bike club, as well as cycling with some informal groups and with my boyfriend. I haven't been riding outside yet this year because it has been too cold and wet here (Michigan) so far this year for me. I plan to get out soon though and usually ride 3-4x/week when the weather permits. What part of the country do you live in?

I will make this thread "sticky" so that it is at the top and hopefully some more will join the conversation!

Hi Ladies!
I'm Becky, mostly experienced in road cycling, although I'm getting my feet wet in mountain biking and bicycle touring.
Anybody out there in 2019?
