Oh cool Becky - baby Owlets!!!!!

A beautiful day - stayed in with the Spectrum tech that took almost 4 hours - internet only half fixed, new wiring outside, a another new modem and no wireless - router not communicating.

After moving my 11am lesson to 12 - I had to leave the tech alone for about 10 minutes as he still was not done - made me very nervous.

Lessons till 4:45 then off to church....

Maybe birding tomorrow....

I will quickly write these messages.

Eileen so glad you enjoyed going to Eagle Pass. We are always talking about going. Glad you did not lose all your savings. I hope all goes well with the Ice Cream social and the block party. You are too busy. I pray all goes well with your mother.

Fern looks like another windy day. Soon it will be warm day for the pool again. I see Charro Days is happening in Brownsville. Busy times.

Marcy we need to get together and go walking. Text me on a day when you can go.

Hi all
I am at my daughter's using her computer. My computer went out. We took it to get fix as it is only 3 yrs old. Mr. Computer thinks it the motherboard. I waited 2 weeks to take it in and it will take about 2-3 weeks for the parts. Then my husbands computer went out. It is his keyboard. OMG what is going on.

I have not been working outside much too windy. The days I am out it is beautiful. Like Marcy my wildflowers are starting to bloom. I bought the wildflower seeds now at Lowes' only $7. I waited to plant them in Oct. and now they are blooming. Comos flowers are looking wonderful now and they are drought resist so I hope they will bloom threw summer.

Marcy my little owl in the tree screeches for food all night long. I never knew what bird it was before. It is the little owls. One night I went out to turn off the water and the mom came flying out with a screech. (Not at me just out) I could see why people are scared of them. So if you go bird watching at dusk. Listen for a squawking it might be an owl.

I have found my fitbit. I am going to charge it and get back in health. I have been riding my bike but walking is best. My son got me a wireless earplug. It looks like I have a hearing aid. It has a long battery and is good to listen to books. I can answer the phone with it tooooo. It is nice to wear when I am outside working in the yard.

O my goodness Eileen - hang in there but enjoy!!!

Spectrum is coming again this morning to try to fix my internet - I'm logged on my friends a couple of house down! Oh well. I feel like a computer hacker!!!

I planned on getting up really early, but that didn't happen - somehow I managed to get the pets all settled, path for the tech given a look over and extra cleaning as I always do everyday in the living room before students. And now for a quick cup of coffee, dressed for my first student at 11am - Spectrum should be here shortly at 9am. emoticon

A short note. The weekend will and has been wild.
We had a good trip and actually came back with some of their money. Didn't donate this time. Enjoyed the group we traveled with

Today was buy ice cream for the social and get groceries. Include the turkey and ham for church. Fix dinner over at mom's for us to eat together. Easier for me to prepare than mom trying to get it done. Then over to a friend's house for game night.

Tomorrow is the quietest. Need to clean and bake the turkey. Going to slice the ham and place in the roaster with some chicken broth for Sunday. Stopped at the church to pick up roasters and tables are set so don't need to go there on Sat.

Sunday, church which is the installation of our new pastor and a dinner afterwards which we work the kitchen. That should be cleared by 2 PM. Then our block is having a block party 3-6 PM. We will stop in but have to set up for our ice cream social at 4 PM. We usually get home about 6:45 PM. We will be totaled!!! (Totally)

Hoping for sanity on Mon. and some off the feet time.

Good morning Fern.

Becky texted me yesterday that she is having computer problems and so she isn't able to log on.

I am still having internet problems but when I disconnect my modem and router I seem to connect to my bird friends internet - off and on.

Her life has been tested.
A couple of weeks ago one of her pups, Penny, suddenly became ill and couldn't walk - after taken her to the vet - it was spinal - after a week ( with me going several times during the day to give her water with a syringe / food and clean the pads she had her put down.

A couple of days ago, Sam - one of the strong pups went ill. Of course I was called over and I diagnosed it with a stroke and her vet confirmed it. He is now home and I was asked to nurse him (feed / clean) during the day - this will go on for a week or so. She has told me that she will be paying me (this time - I went on my own with so to say with Penny).

I feel like these dogs are like mine as I take care of them and they respond to me, so it has been very stressful to see them in this condition. They are all rescued dogs.

Then in my household, I'm having problems with the momma cat in heat and all the males that are in the area, spraying and fighting. I took her and her little one (7 months or so) for their shots here in Weslaco and was going to give the local vet a chance. Nope. I still don't like how they operate. I went ahead and got their shots as every vet will only spay if the cats have their shots. I asked for an estimate on the spay - would you believe almost $300.
Both of them have an appointment for March 19th in Harlingen at a place called Furry Friends. It's a low cost spay and nueter and they are having a Spring Special. I will only be paying about $40!!!! Unless she is pregnant then I believe it's $10 extra.

This is stressing me out (not that I have been sick just too many little problems going on not to mention other things)

I have her in a cage in the back where the male cats have been hanging around - jeeze. At least it's not in front where all my students / parents come and go.

I transfer over to a bunny cage when I need to clean her and let her stretch - yesterday she was doing good and then I couldn't catch her - males running after her. $10

I'm fighting some kind of ache / guess with the weather changing back and forth / feeling blah / fighting with my weight / money woes and I just can't seem to concentrate. I know I don't eat right or drink enough water so I'm trying to work on it.

So, I guess that's the vibes you have been feeling FERN from my post or lack of!!!

Thank you for listening!!!! Sorry so long.

I'm sorry Marcy. It's time like that I'm glad hubby got the genrator. Our Electricity went out a couple weeks ago and no problem the generator kick in and we were good.

Boy it's quiet here on the team also. I guess it's just busy for every one plus some are gone.
Take care and enjoy the nice wearher (cool).

Oh Fern - you know me

Loving the cooler weather but not the strong wind. Our power went out this morning with several very large booms. I walked down the block after I heard the fire trucks very close. A Palm tree had caught fire next to wires. (about 9 houses down)

Marcy, I checked your FB page looking for the Blue Bonnets. Didn't find. I really love those little blooms!!

Took mom to her ENT appt. and they will be doing a test and then to balance rehab. It could be the nerve to the ear that is causing the dizziness. So Mon. back to the same area to have the testing done then we find out when the rehab will begin.

We are heading to Eagle Pass near Larado early in the AM. Have 2 tour buses going. One all from our park and the other will have 10 from our park and finish the filling from other wilder parks. Back home on Thurs. night. It's definitely an R&R from all the happenings around here.

Warm day here and not a drop of rain. Seems we have a huge box out this way that keep the rain from developing. When it does come, it might be a deluge!!

Another busy day. Hope to take a little time tomorrow for some R&R. Our week of work for our rummage sale paid off and we earned $3,000. Still have a couple big ticket items we are going to put on EBay and hope to sell. One is a stereo system new and cost $5,000. Selling for $300. We think this will sell. Glad it's done and over.

Today after church we had an anniversary party with cake and coffee then finally home. Mom called and needed her med she was out of so had to go to the pharmacy. Back home to put feet up about 30 mins. then up to the hall to serve ice cream social. Finally home to put feet up and relax. Neighbors are watching Daisy while we go to Eagle Pass with a tour bus full of people from our park. So had them come over while we were working to see that all will go well. They locked our house which we don't do when in the park. Couldn't get in so had to go and find where they were playing cards. Had a laugh about that. Got their house key to get our house key and then return their house key.

Now am going to Spark and then head for bed.

Beautiful day - even though I really miss the cold snap.

Went to Home Depot to look at plants / flowers - met a very nice lady that lives down the street at one of the trailer parks - Leslier World (can't spell tonight) - I believe Fran lives there?

After my yard work and house cleaning I'm sitting on 12,XXX in steps - very sore and tired.

I take it easier tomorrow due to lessons!!!

Becky - my Bluebonnets are sprouting and should bloom this week!!!

Not much here. Went to the new church in Los Frenos today. It was good but I'd rather go to my one in San Benito. We'll probably go when DD comes it her kind of music.

Take care Hugs Fern

Yup It's COLD out for his walk this AM WINDY!!!! Not good for the pool. I did take the dog
for his walk this AM. BURRR. He is such a good doggie to take care of. He doesn't even cry when Mom leaves. She'll be back tomorrow night.

Not much here. It's too cold to out side so I think I might just read today. Yesterday my hubby told me our small freezer died so we had to go buy a new one. He also took me out for breakfast and HEB shopping. Busy day.

I hope you all keep warm. Hugs Fern

Constant drizzle here in Weslaco...

Dug up my milkweed plant / potted it carefully and moved it with the many monarch caterpillars to the front yard so that the kiddos can enjoy them! Covered the pot with one of my mesh laundry bags and braced it down with plants / bricks. The mocking bird watched me and was not happy that I was moving and covering his food. I loose too many to the birds after all their munching!!!

Today, I felt I had to go and work at church as the sale is on Fri. so Roger and Mindy went to the flea market and had a good walk. Did find a couple things. And of course, the rain that was to come never showed up so they have more time to wander.

So tired and hurting tonight that I told Roger and Mindy to fix dinner and I didn't care what. Roger made goulash and a salad. Mindy did garlic toast. Then we packed up and took all over to mom's.

Off to do my points for tonight. Probably won't be back to chat until after the weekend. Too much going on. SO hope you all have a great weekend. See you next week.

Spent the afternoon at SPI. Temp was really nice. The water was not as cool as we had been lead to believe. Enjoyed a few hits of the waves, some really big. Mindy has a co-worker, friend vacationing at SPi so ate at Louis Backyard and they had a good visit. Drive back was a little after rush hour and got home as the sun set. Fun and relaxing day.

Glad you are back Becky. Hope you had a good trip.

Happy Birthday to your daughter, Fern. Seems the kids get older and older but then we do as well.

Mindy is trying to enjoy the weather and the pool. She will only get a couple days if the weather people are right. So she is soaking it in. We have been doing our thing. I thought about going to the pool with her but had baking to get done and also dinner prep. Takes a little extra time to get it all packed up and taken over to mom's. She always calls and wants to go out to eat even though she was quite dizzy again today. Then after eating a big meal for her says that home cooking is the best. So I will keep that going at least 4 times a week.

Being gluten intolerant now, going out to eat is difficult. Yesterday we stopped at Luby's and I was sick getting home. Figured out the liver I enjoy had been dusted with flour as I would do the same thing. Didn't even think about that. SO I enjoy eating at home more.

Mom seems to enjoy the company of her aides. Hoping this continues. We do take her places a fair amount but will relieve us a little.

Left church as quickly as possible as our daughter did arrive at 11:30 in McAllen. She enjoyed a little outdoor weather waiting for us. Much different from home. Went to the pool and hot tub this afternoon "just to warm the bones". She gets up very, very early every day so her bedtime is 8 PM. She can enjoy coffee with the guys in the morning. I'll sleep in, thank you :-)

Almost quiet day Fern.

I started trimming branches / trees that I could reach with my long poll. I left everything on the ground till tomorrow - it got really hot and I was tired.

I was saved by a text from my friend Letty - invited me over for supper - so off to clean up! She couldn't believe that I actually drank 3 glasses of tea!!! I love her tea but I'm sure I was dehydrated!! Guess I'll be waking up more than usually tonight!

Nothing wrong with Dirty Al"s. How is Mom doing better with her helper? It sure is hard to see your body slow down as we get older. Very hard to give in to it. I hope I'm not that stubborn but I supose I'll be there soon. May God bless her and your family.

Marcy I hope you have a good and quiet day. Be wicky I hope your enjoying your camping trip.

May GOD be with you all. Hugs Fern

Had a volunteer luncheon at noon then off to church until 5 PM. Got a somewhat organized mess but things are moving along. Dined at Dirty Al's as too tired to make our meal.

Yes it was cold yesterday! I only get 1 or 2 days to swim. I just can't handle the wind. I'm hoping Spring will come soon!
We had cards Thurs night and tonight.
at least I get to talk to someone and find out whats going on. I read 2 books and started another one. And even cleaned some of our house. Now you know I'm bored. OH well. I enjoyed the books.
I hope you all had a good Valentine 's day. May God Bless Fern

I agree it was a chilly morning but about 10 AM I went out to tell our neighbors goodbye as the moved out today for a single level home. The sun was shining and warm. Thought I would need a sweatshirt to go over to mom's but didn't. When we left her house after the game, it was an absolutely beautiful day.

Went and got a mani/pedi and then home at 5 PM. Had to find a quick meal to get over to mom's. We are feeding her in the evening so she has more nutrition. Tomorrow we will be eating a little earlier as we have game night that begins at 6:30.

Mom did well, I think, today. She was a little grumpy to begin with but the helper kept knocking at the door, not coming in. Roger unlocked for her but mom had to get to the door. Problem was the helper didn't have the right address but kind of guessed so it's understandable she didn't want to walk in. Sounded like the remainder of the 3 hrs. went well.

Tomorrow another helper will be taking her to her hair appt. and nail appt. I do hope this works out as well.

I hope you all get warmer! I am sure being closer to the Gulf makes a big difference!!

Eileen - I hope all works well with your mom's caregiver.

What a day! A very / VERY cold day!! There I said it!!

Karen and I volunteered (for Frontera) at the Edinburg Wetlands from 7 am to 2 pm at the RGV Coastal Expo. Our table set up was in the pavilion with the north wind blowing at us. We were all bundled in gloves / beanies / neck scarves etc. Did I say it was cold!!! We were outside the entire time. Bus loads of kiddos enjoying the many areas of Nature / Science.

Marcy, the Wind Ensemble was the old McAllen Town Band. We try to go to each of the concerts during the winter. Even Roger enjoyed this one. Yes, I played the Clarinet, Oboe and Bassoon in school as well as the piano and Organ. Now it's directing a choir. Still learning that.

The last card day tomorrow (for the week) and the 1st day of mom's helper. I have her coming at 8 AM. Roger will unlock mom's door and the gal can start breakfast. Mom doesn't even have to get up but I know she will. The assistant will be there for the first half hr. of cards. I planned that so I can see how mom is dealing. Fri. I am having mom covered for her hair appt. and then nail appt. right after. The helper will be the one driving mom's car to the appt. I won't be going and and quite curious how it's going to work out. This is apparently how they get the car keys away eventually. Time will tell.

We did play cards today. Came back home for about an hour to get a few things done and back to mom's to wait for the RN that came to evaluate the situation. Mom was hesitate and wanted me to make decisions as this was my idea not hers. Great starting point. A one hour visit and she still couldn't think about hrs. so the RN wants a call tomorrow as to what time she is to send over the assistant. Mom does make things difficult.

Went to a concert tonight by the Wind Ensemble. We both think this was one of the best ones we have gone to. There was a Bassoon solo and it was awesome! I used to play the Bassoon and had forgotten the octave range. The program was filled with music that gave a mental picture with every song.

Hi Becky - I was wondering if you were on the road!!! I bet it's cold there tonight!!! The cold front actually made it this way. I was working in the garden all morning then several trips to go take care of my friends very sick pup - I came in thru the front door to go get the leaf blower to finish the dirt I had left on the sidewalk - came out the back door and the front had arrived!!! lol withing 2 minutes or so!!! Sure feels good!!!

After I showered and got ready for a long night of lessons - my stomach started acting funny, maybe too much gardening in the heat - 5 hours - so I ended up canceling my lessons. emoticon

Exercise: so far I have 12,404 in steps - yesterday I had 14,XXX in steps emoticon

Pets fed - going to bed early.

I wonder if you will be going swimming in the morning FERN?

Hi all
We are in Corpus and finally have good signal. Yesterday was windy but calm before the front. So today shopping and maybe sight seeing. This time I drove the truck so we have a vehicle to drive around in. I am doing a lot of walking. All these dogs want to do is walk walk walk.

I am an intelligent person.
I will control my emotions and not let my emotions control me.

We need each other.

Marcy, Mindy has been here a few times.

Busy day here. Had to tally all the "tickets" from the social last night. Then did laundry and got the guest room emptied of all my crafts that I am not doing. :-) Of course helping mom goes along with the territory. Made dinner at her house and ate there. She is eating well as long as I cook. Mom even stated tonight that she is getting exercise from pulling herself with her feet and legs in a rolling chair.

Tomorrow is card day and hopefully a visit from the homecare RN to start the process of help for mom. Didn't hear back today so don't know what's going to happen. I need the help. All I have done since coming down is care for her and run with her plus her hospital stay right after arriving.

Have a great Tues.

Eileen

Oh Eileen I'm so sorry about your daughters pup - I'm sure your going to have a good cry together at one point. Has it been a while since she has been to the valley? I don't remember you mentioning it before.

Looks like it's going to be another hot day before our next cold front tomorrow night.

Exercise: I did lots of yard work yesterday - over 12,XXX in steps!
