Hello All,

I am a chemistry teacher from Quincy, Massachusetts. I am in my 6th year of teaching and really enjoying it. I was a lab manger for an oil company before changing careers. I just got my Initial license this year. I am not new to SPARK but have been on a long break from it. I am back to get in shape for the upcoming soccer season and all seasons to come, I hope. I pull a hamstring two years ago and sustained a severe concussion last year. These injuries sidelined my workouts and when the workouts went so did the good eating. I have been tracking my food for the past two weeks...down 5.7lbs. So I am hoping to find support again from SPARK and get in back my youth......

Hello!

I am a music teacher from Mass. emoticon I am not new to SP or trying to lose weight. I have had quite a busy two years! I had a house fire (Oct/'12), finished my masters (Dec/'12), had a kidney transplant (Jan/'13), got my first teaching job (Sept/'13), got married (Jun/'13), got my DREAM job (Sept/'14).

During all of this, my weight has continued to go higher and higher. I am now trying to lose weight for many reasons..... health, looks, energy, life-style.. and so my husband and I can start to make a family!

I look forward to meeting people here that will help motivate me to follow through this time!

Happy March Everyone! I'm a Middle School Math and ESOL teacher. I have 3 teenagers at home and am looking for ways to fit healthy eating into my very full, sometimes erratic and inflexible schedule. I'm trying to eat more fruits and veggies and am happy to have found a group that can understand the demands of the job. :)

Good Morning everyone! My name is Joanna, and I teach fourth grade in MA. I was a second grade teacher for 10 years before taking 15 years of maternity leave after my second daughter was born. As my oldest was preparing to head to college I realized that it was time to go back to teaching so .... I am now in my 3rd year of my post maternity leave.

I love my kiddos, but they certainly are challenging. I have the "but you can handle them" class so every day is a constant battle, but worth every moment.

Had to have some surgery a few days ago, and had a scare in the operating room. My BP went up to almost 200 (stroke, seizure area) and really made my open my eyes. I don't normally have high BP but... it showed me that it was time to take my health seriously.

So, here I am. Again. Started with spark in 2008 and hopefully this time I can stick with it. Look forward to chatting and getting to know some of you!

Hello, all. My name is Melody and I'm a 2nd grade teacher. Although I've been teaching since 1999, this is my first year in a classroom (I spent the remaining years as the computer teacher for K-5th grade students). I love, love, love being in my own classroom and having my "own" kids.

Health-wise, I could do a lot better. I'd lost approximately 30 lbs. with SparkPeople about three years ago. I've gained all but 10 of those pounds back. So, at this point, I consider myself to be 50-60 pounds overweight. I'm not happy about it, and I'm certainly not healthy.

I'm looking forward to getting back to paying more attention to taking care of me. I know I'll be more effective in every aspect of my life when I am feeling better.

Hi! I have been on and off diets for many years and just recently decided to consider myself going through a change of lifestyle rather than another diet. I am committed to exercising at least 5-6 days a week, only eating 2 servings of whole grains a day, 1 serving of lean beef a week, and I am only eating healthy sugars (like fruit) other than my one cheat a week. This is my 3rd week following my new lifestyle plan and not only have I lost 6.2 lbs but I just generally feel better. I haven't been able to get 8 glasses of water in although it's not for lack of trying lol! And I have no problem at all getting 7-8 good hours of sleep a night! I joined Sparkpeople in 2008 when I wanted to get myself on track because I had gained like 40 lbs since my wedding. Well, here I am back and this time I have about 66 lbs to lose! I can't give up this time!! emoticon

Hi Jen, It is tough getting started but I'm thinking worth it in the end. I started in January and seem to be stuck at the 6 pound mark for weight loss. Think positive and you will get there. emoticon

emoticon Jen! The first year is a tough one. My suggestion is to not try and change everything at once. Start with making food healthier or exercising for even 10 min. or drinking more water. When that's in place add another small goal.

I'm Jen, I have been a member of Sparkpeople for a little while, but never really used the website to my full advantage. I am back at is and ready to dive all in as I'm hitting the middle of the school year! I would love to become friends and meet and sparkbuddies that I can! I feel like the more reason I have to be on the sit the more I will actually be on this instead of facebook or anything else less productive for my health!

I am currently a Special Education teacher in the Bronx for 4th and 5th grade. I am still within my first year of teaching and beginning my journey! I love my job, but it's definitely hard to find the energy at the end of the day to make my way to the gym. Any suggestions or Sparkbuddies would be great!!

I am Jen…originally from Iowa! worked in Kansas…now an international teacher in Indonesia (via Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia). I am married to a teacher who moved to counseling who is moving to admin. We have a 7 year old daughter who has never lived in the USA..just visits in the summer. LOVE teaching overseas 99% of the time. I have always taught early childhood..teaching KG right now and love the kids.

I am working with my hubby to lose weight to either have a second child or to persue adoption. and to be able to be more active in the classroom and with out daughter. We are 12-13 hours ahead of central time zone in the US so my posts will be in the middle of the night for you.

Hello team! I've been a member of spark for eight months but consistently for the last two months ( since I bought a Fitbit). I'd like to lose the twenty-five pounds I gained when I stopped running due to a back injury. I'm running again just not long distances-YET! BTW- if you haven't seen the Power of Yet YouTube video I highly recommend it. It's a powerful tool to teach students resilience.

Hello! My name is Ashley...I'm a first year high school English teacher. I teach 9-12 grade English and high school drama at a little Christian school in Indiana. I had a fellow teacher tell me once, "If you don't try and meet your goals right when you know those are your goals, you'll never meet them". So, once I got into the swing of teaching (does one ever really get into the swing of teaching??) I began to exercise and count calories. Since then (mid-November), I've lost 10 pounds. I'd like to lose about 20 more, but my real goal is simply to be a fit person; I want to be as well-rounded as possible.

Hi everyone, I am Cindy from SC. This is my sixth year working as a K-4 assistant in an elementary school. Before I got this job I worked in our after school program assisting children with homework. But I LOVE this job working with all our little ones. I first started with spark in 2008 and lost about 25 pounds. I slacked off but now I'm back and ready to do it. I have lost 30 pounds since July and trying to lose another 30. I can do it I just have to stay with it.

Hi everyone! ¡Hola a todos! I'm Sarah, in my seventh year of teaching Spanish in PA suburbia. I am back with SP after a few months away, where I got even further from my goals.

Hi! My name is Sue. I'm a certified teacher (elem ed) currently working as a program assistant (aka teacher's aide) working in Title I helping with interventions and other misc. duties as well as helping with 6th grade choir. I've been on SP for years, but haven't been active in a while.
