I have used those copper socks. That is a long drive to use the pool. I drive about 6 miles.

No. I live in a small town and we have no facilities close by; a small gym but no pool. The closest water facilities is 40 mins away and I won't drive that far just to workout.

My job requires me to stand on my feet for 10 hours a day and it's not the walking that hurts so bad.....the pain is worse when I sit down for more than 20 mins after being active (mornings are the worst after being off my feet for 6-7 hours). I have started adding 2Tbsp of ACV to my evening tea and wearing copper-infused socks and they are helping a lot. Still some pain, but at least I can stand on my tip-toes for a few seconds (I'm short so I have to do this a lot!)

I understand your fear with that family history BUT you are taking steps by joining in Spark. Are you able to do water therapy?

Thank you everyone for the words of encouragement. I try to keep my family's medical history in mind when I feel like I hurt too much to go for a walk/workout. My mother (age 69) is extremely overweight and can't even walk to the mailbox (less than 50 feet from the door) because of her feet and hips. She has also been told by her doctor that if she doesn't loose at least 100 lbs, she will be dead in 5 years due to a fatty liver. My baby sister (41) is also extremely overweight and confined to a wheelchair because of her weight and fibromyalgia. I am only 49 and am scared to death that one day I will be in the same situation as either of them.

hi. thought i would reply, as your ankle dilemma is kind of like mine plus the need for losing weight. I want it off, however the pressure to do this makes me eat more, or at least that is my reasoning. I do believe ankle soreness and swelling is really a slasher to healthy self esteem. Many people want to have fun, go for walks, hikes, shop- and i now just want to stay home away from all that . wow. did my life change. Anyway, I joined planet fitness and hope to get back there and walk or do the light machines that Curves program offers, except they call it the 30 minute circuit. My husband is getting his hip replaced in January so i have to do some improvement before then, so i can help him out. Ahhhh. Val

If it helps you: I also gained weight again after my last RA flare - up and a steroid injection. Then I gained even more when my knees started swelling. Still have water in my knees and gave to totally rethink my exercise plan. Let's do this together. Hugs.

Back in 2012 I lost almost 70 lbs with the help of SparkPeople and the support from its members. I have unfortunately gained 50 of it back. This time around I now have arthritis in my ankles which is posing quite the problem. I don't post very often, but read every entry. Thank you for your help in the past and the help I know you will offer again. Hugz to all.
