Welcome to the group. I was headed for knee replacement as well when my weight topped 250. The weight loss coupled with a personal trainer that has helped me build good support muscles has allowed me to lead a more active life. i still get some joint pain, but i can live with it.

Hi,
Welcome to the group, and I just wanted to let you know I too have a bad knee, but I wear a magnet on it daily and it really works. I can finally straighten out my leg for the first time in a long time. I wear mine under a band aid and purchase them from a great company, but I would think any magnet should help. If I can do anything to help, spark mail me.

Welcome, I wish the best on your journey. This place is a good place to do low carb. So many different ways with very successful people here to share what they do. Lots of wisdom and suggestions on different plans done different ways. Your key will be what you are comfortable with and are happy with that you can stick with for a life change. Look at the small picture...well at least I do, the big picture to me is scary. So I take 5,10 or 15 pounds at a time. If you ever need to chat or need help come here and many will come to your aide.
Blessings, Em

Hi Melanie,

The road may be a long one, but we are here with you.
Welcome to our group. Your plan sounds good. Any plan is good if it works. if you find it very difficult you can try any low carb plan....Atkins, Protein power, sugar busters, paleo etc.
A secret to success,, believe it or not is drinking tons of cold water. Best of luck! Posting helps.

Hi. My name is Melanie. I'm a 38 year old divorced mother of 4 children (ages 16, 14, 8 & 5). I live in Vermont. I am going to college part-time to become a Medical Administrative Assistant.

I am doing The Metabolism Miracle. I am in phase 1, on day #27 today. (I am only allowed 5g of carbs every 5 hours on this phase - which lasts 8 weeks).

I have severe bi-lateral arthritis in my knees due to a car accident when I was younger and my weight. I am hoping by losing weight I can either avoid total knee replacement, or get to a weight that I can have the surgery if needed (right now they say I need to lose 45 lbs for surgery). My goal is to lose 130 lbs and be more active with my kids.
