Awww.... sorry Packers emoticon emoticon

Wow, that is so interesting with the Sally name when you're name is Kathie! I think it's good your then boyfriend is now your X if he came up with that kind of name for his girlfriend!!

Some of my thoughts...
There's the usual probably used... KindKathie.
KeenKathie (sharp, eager, enthusiastic, strong intense)
KindredKathie (spirit),
KineticKathie - (caused by motion; energetic or dynamic)
KookyKathie (silly, eccentric, crazy)
And then you could always take c words like KrazyKathie etc. or q words like KuteKathie. You can also add your 2 to most of them "too"!!

Oh yes!!! Do use the tracker. Plus it will encourage you to get all your water in!! I think you will notice it to be a big help. I do!!

Good luck on a new name and your new venture!! All the best. ~Beni

Hi Beni, Thanks for your reply. You're right about my name. I couldn't think of a name so just goofing around and with the helpful (?) suggestion from my NOW EX BOYFRIEND (the before mentioned alcoholic) I chose the 2tonSally. I will work on getting it changed as I have been thinking it's rather silly and negative. Also, it fools people into thinking my name is Sally and it's not. It's Kathie.

I haven't tried using the Tracker as I was afraid it would be hard. I haven't even looked at it so how can I judge that?! Maybe I should be SillySally!

Anyone have a cute username suggestion for me to go along with Kathie, 4ft9, and shorty (the 2 I use sometimes)?

I could be called SadSally right now as my Packers lost the playoffs last night.

Have a great Sunday! emoticon

Welcome Kirsten, Clay and Sally!!

Kirsten you are right, we've got to stop this yo-yo business, get it off and we must all learn maintenance!!

Clay Congrats on doing stairs and working with a personal trainer. That is quite an achievement! It is not easy!! You are right, it will help your knees. It will help our whole bodies to get this excess weight off!!!

And to Sally... Oh Sally I wish you picked a different username. We are so hard on ourselves. Just think when you lose the weight you'll have to change it to skinnysally - For now, what about soaringsally, or singingsally, a positive name? OH OH I know - what about SerotoninSally!! LOL!!!

Okay - to start - my best suggestion is the tracker. That thing is amazing. Not always easy to find certain foods, but you can take the back of the package and log it in if you can't find the food.. I was amazed at how many calories and most of all how much salt I was eating! A Lot!!

You can also track your movement. Not just exercise, you can even put vacuuming down! Who knew?!

Again, welcome everyone - this is going to be our year! We are going to do this once and for all and get healthy!

HI everyone, I think I may be the first from Oregon to join this group. I have been reading Indygirl's Blogs for some time now and I figured this is a good place for me to be. I welcome help and encouragement from each and everyone of you and I will be very greatfull for it.
Anyone out there want to be my partner?
January 2013 is almost half over but I want to get started with good plans for myself. I need direction on what and how to do first.
I am 65 and needing to lose at least 20 lbs. On my short body that is a lot. Would love to make it 25 lbs but I'm b3eing realistic.
I started gaining after stress from an alcoholic relationship and the death of my mother. I have lost 10 lbs from that gain but can't seem to get any lower and have been at a stand still almost a year. That tells me I'm not on the right track or trying hard enough. Please, give me some direction.
I know I need more exercise but a bad back has been hindering that. But I just need to work through the pain and exercise more. Here's wishing all of us success! emoticon

Hello everyone! My name is Clay. I am a 76 year old woman who needs to shed 25 pounds. I am recovering from a muscle disease that was produced by a medication. I need to shed the 25 pounds for my knees. I work with a personal trainer who has helped me immensely. I now can walk up and down stairs. It has taken me over a year to accomplish this. I want to shed the weight, but I am so grateful that I can walk and climb stairs. I need help to stay motivated.
I would love to find a buddy.

Hi everyone! My name is Kirsten and I am a returning "on and off again Sparker" back to lose the weight I regained last year. I am 50, married, no kids, with 2 cats, a small dog and a tortoise. The old me was a chronic yo-yo dieter. The new me is going to lose the weight and KEEP IT OFF. I want to learn anything and everything I can about maintenance, since if you knew my history, you would know that I obviously have NO clue how to do it. I want to lose 100 lbs and I would love a weight loss buddy. emoticon

Hi Team,

My name is Sarah and I am also new here. I'm 50 and just crossing the line from 'pre-diabetic' which has been threatening me for years to actually diabetic. It scares me terribly to think of all the things that go with diabetes. We have longevity in my family--my parents are both in their 80's with pretty good health, I don't want to be the first in the family to die young! My son is 17 and I want to pester him until he's at least my age now!

My blood sugar has gone wild in just the last few weeks and so I am tracking it closely and doing much better at watching and controlling what I eat. It's strange but I think it is that immediate feedback of checking my blood sugar that is helping me stay on track.. Maybe that's what I need in order to eat sensibly, that immediate feedback of too much/wrong stuff or just right. Or maybe it's the fear of all the comorbidities that come with diabetes.

I have been reading about and moving in the direction of vegetarian/plant based/nutrarian diet for a number of reasons, for the last year. It's two steps forward, one step back. That way of eating does make sense to me, though and I want to continue to change in that direction. I hope someone here will share that interest with me.

Anyway, in combination with that I joined sparkpeople to share information and support with those on the same journey, this uphill climb that is the Everest of my lifetime!. Now that I'm here, I am overwhelmed and have not spent the time looking around enough to learn all I need to know. Thank you someone who sent me the link to the 'booklet' for new users. I apologize for losing the name.

I came to IndyGirl team because I am in Indy and I too am a girl! Then I read the blog and I just want to get as much of that magic as I can!

I look forward to becoming a contributing member. Please be kind when you tell me to shut up but do so at anytime!

Hi everyone!
I joined recently but still kinda warming up and getting acquainted ...............
I joined after reading a post and blog of Beth's ........ INDYGIRL re: "Where could you be on Jan 1 2014 if you were to lose .5 # per week? ........ (That's 26# per year) .......... So I am focusing on ONE week at a time and doing really well ................ within January .............
It doesn't seem so daunting w/ this approach ................... It's not too late either .......... We're only 9 days into the year ............... Feeling optimistic ................. and best to everyone else! 2B ..........

Hi everyone, I am new as well I have only been on sparkpeople since October, I find people to be very inspiring on this site, I have started to adapt a healthier lifestyle. I track everything now, down to the cream in my coffee, and the ketchup on my burger. I have become stronger both mentally and physically since joining this site, and I am still looking for way to improve.

Don't just wish for it, work for it! Ready, Set, GOAL.

Hi, I'm new to this team. I have followed Beth's blogs and found a wonderful friend in her. I don't know how active I'll be as my own 4 teams keep me hopping but I intend to come in daily to read and will post when I can.
I know I'm going to love being here!

Hello! My name is Pat and I live in Dunedin, FL (Tampa Bay Area). I have been active on SP since May 2011 and have successfully lost 94 lbs! I am very happy with the changes in my health and body and have a LOT of support from both my family and work environment (with on site gym and personal trainer, free). Unfortunately this holiday season I have gotten pretty out of control and am beginning to realize - well becoming honest with myself that I am controlling my weight through exercise and although my eating is better than it used to be with more veges and fruits I am still binging on sweets and it is time for me to get a real handle on my food. Wow OK so now that is out in print!!! Now although I have been on this site for a long time and have participated in quite a few challenges I have not been successful in "connecting" with anyone or really becoming social. I am beginning to realize that this is something else I need to do. Frankly since I work in an office on a computer all day I don't like spending time on the computer at night so that has been my excuse but like with the changes I need to make with the food I believe that getting more social on this site will help with my motivation and committment to continue my lifestyle changes. I call this is a lifestyle change because when I started it wasn't to fit into a smaller size or look better it was because I knew with my family history and my weight pushing 300 lbs that I was headed for some possibly serious health issues that could be avoided if I made changes. I didn't want to become my sister who is 10 yrs older than me and completely disabled by her weight, prescription drug addiction, drinking and depression and in total denial of all of the above. I have lived with depression since I was 14 yrs old and have been through years of counseling and am still on anti depression meds but it is in check and I know my healthier lifestyle contributes to that. OK well I guess I have gone on long enough. To finish up I am happily married going on 30 yrs and have two awesome daughters 24 & 18. I would love a buddy. Thanks!

Hi everyone! My name is Marisa. I've been on sparkpeople since like 2007...or something ridiculous like that. 6 years of ups and downs....NOW...a recent Dr. Visit...I have 245 cholesterol with 171 LDL...blood sugar was high...hemoglobin low...I am a MESS!

I am recommitting myself to this adventure. Who's with me?
I'm 34... a single mom...I work hard at my job...and I just got a new schedule that I feel will be better for my weight loss and healthy goals.

I would love to become a trainer one day and provide free classes or training to overweight single moms that cannot afford it. I know what that is like!

More importantly...I want to show my son (who is 16)...that he can be healthy too!

Much love to all!

Marisa

I decided that I could do it on my on and all the weight came right back on along with the fact that I stopped doing my walking! Not to mention the fact that I feel really bad about myself! This year I have to drop 37 pounds for health reasons. I read Indygirl's blog and boy am I motivated. I have to emoticon and do what I know I must do! Spark On Friends and emoticon

Hello all, not new to spark, been here off and on since 2006, but I've read Indy's blog a few times and decided I had to join her group too. I am a 36 yr old sahm to 5; ranging from 17 to twins that will be 7 in less than two weeks. I am ALWAYS busy, but not the best kind of busy I should be. So, I am recommitting as I would really like to lose weight before my daughter's graduation this Memorial Day weekend and then my own 20 year reunion next summer. My family are all smaller than I am, and I have battled my weight off and on since high school. I've lost 60 lbs before and then gained back WAY more, am currently down 30 from my highest ever weight and working my way down another 80 to 90 lbs. I want to feel better, be healthier, and not end up where I can't enjoy my life as I age.
I live in Michigan and would love an accountability buddy! I have exercise equipment at home, wonderful neighborhood to walk in (when it's not too cold), a lake across the street to swim in during the summer months, but no one who wants to consistently work out with me....are you that person? Is anyone out there that person???

Make time, light the FIRE, FEEL the BURN!!!
Get OFF the couch! MOVE MOVE MOVE!

I'm new to this team, although I've been on Sparkpeople for a few years. I've been very impressed and inspired by Indygirl and hope to be more successful this time around. I have two challenges right now. One is all the Christmas goodies still here and the other is a nerve entrapment in my foot which causes pain when I walk. I'm sending Christmas goodies to my grandsons on Sunday and starting physical therapy for my foot next week.

I would enjoy having a spark buddy. Is anyone interested?

I'm from Wisconsin and have been married 45 years to a wonderful man and we have four grown children and four grandchildren.

Hi! My name is Bill and I've been on SparkPeople since early 2009. I should say I was on SparkPeople a few months back then, but I quit being active when my wife become serioiusly ill. I decided that enough was enough in the middle of 2012 and started again. I have lost 40 pounds since then, but I have gained some back during the holidays. I'm trying to get more active again and watch the amount (and type) of food that I eat. Encouragement and mutual support also go a long way in the road to success.

I live in the San Antonio, TX area and love to hike. If anyone lives in this area, let me know and maybe we can plan something.

Thanks, Beth, for starting this team!

Greetings, all! My name is Carol and I live in Wisconsin. I have been married to my HS sweetie for 33 yrs. We have 2 grown sons. The youngest will be getting married in May.

I joined SP in July 2012 after being introduced to it by a friend. She mainly just uses the food tracker and has lost a great deal of weight. I started tracking and it really opened my eyes, not only to calories, but nutrition. I decided that I needed some support/encouragement to stick with a healthier eating style so I jumped into the community. This site has the most positive group of people I have ever known. Beth was one of the first people I stumbled across when reading blogs. I keep coming back to her for the no-nonsense advice and decided to join her team.

I have lost about 30lbs since July. Slow and steady. I was not looking for a diet, but a change in lifestyle that I could sustain. SP has given me the tools, info, and support that I had never had before. I have a long journey ahead and look forward to traveling the road with you.

Thank you, Spark, Beth and others for helping me become a healthier me!

Hi everybody! I've been on Sparkpeople since July 2011. I am here today after reading Indygirl's blog about losing weight regain.

The total I have lost since joining SP is 79.6 lbs. For the past two months or so I've gained about 14 of those pounds back. I have really been struggling and down about it, but I am determined to get myself back on track and reach my goal weight this year.

I am happy to join this group. I hope everyone has a great day and a great weekend!

:-)

Hi everyone! I've been with SP for almost 5 years, and I'm thrilled to find this team. I just blogged this morning about what I've learned over the last 5 years as a SP member.

I'm 48 years old, and I live in Upstate New York, where it's currently ridiculously cold. I enjoy walking, running, playing with my dog, reading and gardening. I'm also an artist.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better.

Hi all,
I am new to this team, but want to lose this weight so much. I need all the help I can get. I have been over weight most of my life. I have finally realized I need to do something so I will be around for my kids and grandkids when they come. I started to seriously work on this in sept. and have lost 16 pounds. I need to lose so much more but I am trying to not look at the big picture and start small.

Hi all - I am new to this group. Been struggling with both new dietary restrictions and having to lose 100 pounds. We found out a year ago, I am allergic to dairy. Now, just in the last few weeks, it seems my system can no longer handle meat. So, doctor's orders are I have to go vegan. Not easy with my family. Hubby is lactose intolerant and a cardiac patient, so low fat, low sodium and low cholesterol. Daughter (18) is also allergic to dairy, but is an extremely picky eater and has learning disabilities. Son (17) has no food restrictions so far, but really needs to lose 125-140 pounds. Mother is on high protein. She also does not eat much and the doctor is concerned. However, she is 74 and in poor health. Has Hepatitis C and cirrhosis of the liver, due to the Hep C. Add to those medical issues, she also has dementia and I am her primary caretaker. Am total deaf and slowly learning ASL. Also, I have fibromyalgia and neuropathy. I have a knee cap that slips out every so often and I fall without problems.

Hi....I'm new. My name is Lisa. I live in TX. I joined Sparkcoach & am doing my VERY best to take the advice given & take baby steps into my lifestyle. Normally I would rush the process & give up sometime between the 3rd day to 3rd week.

I could sure use some buddies. B

Hello, Im Jessie and while I have been a member of SP since 2011, I have lost very little weight. Prior to joining SP I lost 33lbs (my heaviest weight being 233), then after joining I lost another 11lbs but have since gained those back. Now back at 200lbs, I have decided to give this another go and am determined to lose this last 50lbs once and for all!! I am going to finish what I started...this is my year!

emoticon Thanks for the sweet welcome.

I am Netty... I struggle with balance and moderation. Mostly with Food and God - Physical and Spiritual. Food is my coping of choice. I am trying to turn more to God and Meditation and Serving others. What better way to serve than support others on Spark People?

Again... thanks for the kind welcome and Happy~New~Year

Hi I'm Molly and have been with Spark since Feb 2010. I have lost 30 lb since then and I still have 35 more to go. I am a n emotional eater and this has actually hindered my progress. My goal is to reach a healthy BMI by my birthday which is in June so I am going to find other ways to deal with my emotions other than food.
