Hi,

I ran a cross this team in a Spark Article I was reading. I can not cook with a crockpot. Every time I cook a roast or meat it is dry. I want to do more cooking with the crockpot, so I am hoping that the "experts here" can help me out.

I am a public school High School teacher, and both my son and daughter will be graduating in June. (not twins, we just accelerated my sons graduation) So for right now I am so busy I am only sticking with basic here at Spark. But I am looking forward to diving deep into into some teams for support and motivation.

I went ahead and joined this team, so that I would not forget about it. Signed up for e-mail notifications so it will be tickling my brain.

I am doing very will with the spark plan. Down 10 pounds and feeling it physically and emotionally.

Have a wonderful day!

Greetings all!

I'm new to the team but not new to SP. I haven't been Sparking much because I'm dealing with adrenal fatigue issues. Which means rest and lots of rest. So... I'm looking for easy ways to cook things. Actually considered eating raw veggies (instead of having to cook them), but my taste buds revolted.

Helllo! I am re-introducing myself. I am ON_A_DIET. I am a former leader of this team.

I kind-of felt left-out after giving up leadership. It sort-of felt like there was a clique.

However, I am giving the team another chance as I am married to my crockpot.

Happy to have returned.

My family is vegetarian and I'm looking for ways to make my cooking easier. I've only been using my crockpot on weekends, and I'd like to find more recipes that will make it food preparation easier during the week. Where can I find great meatless recipes for during the week?

If not now, when?

I agree with you about leaving the crockpot on the counter! I had a nice spot in my cupboards, for it, but I hated the inconvenience that caused. emoticon I'm much happier having it tucked in its own spot on the counter. I also did that with some heavy mixing bowls I have. They look nice, so I figured "why not??" Just trying to make life a little simpler. emoticon

thank you, I enjoy my crockpot and usually leave it on the counter, it's easier that putting it away and taking it out again. I don't have a lot of time to make meals through out the week, so I use the crockpot and divvy up the meals for the week. looking forward to some new ideas.

Hi everyone. I have four crockpots that have recently gone unused so I was hoping this group could reinspire me to use them more! I love my crockpots, especially dump recipes and 4 or 5-ingredients or less recipes. They're super easy for my husband to run home on his lunch break to prepare and bam, dinner is done when we get home! It also makes weekends full of errands easier. I look forward to learning from you!

Penny, and others!
One great way to start using a crockpot is to make soup in it. Indeed, during the beginning of Winter I like to do a version of Stone soup.
I put leftovers together with broth and season it only lightly as the ingredients in the soup change. We usually stop after it has been on Warm for a week. But it is nice to always have a bowl of soup during the cold weather, and to be able to offer a bowl to a friend or neighbor...

I look forward to hearing your adventures in healthy living.

I'm not even near perfect, but I know someone who is.

emoticon Valerie. Glad to have you on the team! I am fascinated by how many diff kinds of crockpots they have, these days. It is wonderful. I remember when all I saw were the standard 3 1/2 qt. SIL just told me about a 9 x 13 one that she'd gotten & I want to talk with her more about that! It sounds nice. For now, I am back to using the 3 1/2 qt size (we're empty nesters) and a small 1 (or 1 & 1/2 qt?) size. I'm still experimenting with the smaller one. Looking forward to getting to know you & sharing crockpot ideas.

emoticon Marsha! Like you, I am now retired. I like using the crockpot still. It means the meal is already prepared (when I am tired after doing everything I've done in a day)! I've had some picky eaters, too. I think we all liked something different. I admit that I was a picky eater, as a kid, so I had much sympathy for. (Lots of varying opinions on how to deal with that.) emoticon One of my favorite things to fix in the crockpot are chili & thick soups. I usually freeze serving sized portions of the soups when I'm done. This means if I'm the only one in the family who likes chili, I don't have to miss out on having it! That's a big YAY in my book. Looking forward to sharing crockpot successes with you.

Hi, I am Valerie. I love my crock pots! I have a large timed one to cook for everyone - 5 adults and a child. I have one that latches closed for potlucks. My favorite is a little white crock pot that I use to cook for my husband and myself. It makes 2 meals for us- one for now and one for the freezer.
I have found that a crock pot and a timed rice cooker are the perfect combination.

My name is Marsha. I am a runner who didn't start running until 6 years ago at age 61. Just completed my 9th half marathon and am now training for Senior Games 5K on March 11th.

I am more than 80 pounds below my all time high weight which was in 1999. I'm about 50 pounds below my 12-1-2008 weight when I started my current healthy eating streak. In late 2016 I gained about 12 pounds, my worst gain since starting maintenance in 2009. I'm still about 5 pounds over my best running weight.

I've been using Jenny Craig pre-packaged foods for most of my meals since mid-December. I believe it is the easiest "diet" I've ever been on, but I know there will be a BIG transition to cooking my own foods. That is why I joined this team. I want to make frozen meals for myself that are healthy, tasty, freezable, reasonable calories.

I also cook for my extended family - DD, DSIL, 2 granddaughters, hubby and me -- at least once a week. I'm cooking for some picky picky eaters and need some new ideas, too. I am retired so crockpot is not as crucial as when I was working, but how great is it to have the meal in the pot early and not worry about it for supper. Sometimes after my training runs I'm tired and not feeling like cooking!

I use my crock pot a lot too especially when I had little ones at home and was working outside of the home. So handy.

Hey all! My name is Michelle and I just joined this team. Looking for fun, inspiration and new crock pot ideas. I am married with two young children so the crock pot can be a life saver with our busy schedules, especially now that winter is here.

I love my crockpot, and would use it year round, but my Husband only eats chili's, soups, and stews, in colder weather. I have used it in the summer to do pulled pork and chicken...but not many other ideas. Looking for healthy Crock pot Recipes to have yummy dinner when I get home from work. I believe this will help me stay on track and allow me to take a walk or something like that instead of spending time cooking dinner! :) Hi Everybody!

Jen, Welcome! I'd have thrown that one out too. Crock pots are not that expensive. I like having dinner done and it keeps the house cooler.

Hi, I'm Jen. I from Akron, Ohio. I love using my crockpot. It makes me feel accomplished for the day when I get dinner on in the morning, haha. The team photo of the red crockpot is actually the crock I own now. I bought it back in March when a Hamilton Beach one I had started turning itself off and changing temperatures without anyone touching it. I didn't feel it was safe and threw it out. :-(

I have used crockpots for many years. I love that a healthy dinner is ready and it taste so good when cooked in a crockpot. I live in Texas so it helps that they don't heat up the kitchen.

Hello! I am so excited to see activity in this forum. I consider myself a bit of a Crock Pot fanatic. I make several meals ahead of time and freeze them since I am often throwing dinner in before I go to work each day. Always looking for new ideas since we have 2-3 crock pot meals a week.

Looking forward to getting some recipes from you all.

I see you have an electric pressure cooker. What kind did you get? What kinds of things do you make in it? Do you have any recipes to share?

I have had one for over 10 years and love it but it won't seal anymore. I would love to get one of those stainless steel insert ones, but can't do that just now.... I have to save up for it.

I used to prep beans in mine, then freeze them in 1 cup portions. Then when I wanted, I could just throw a package in with my soup/stew. (The didn't get mushy even after several hours in the crock pot.)

I am so happy to see new posts happening!

I own 4 crockpots (used to be 5 but I traded one in for an electric pressure cooker)

Love cooking in crockpots! Sometimes I have all 4 going at once. I live in very hot Phoenix so I have a cook station in my garage (large desk with a power strip) where I make tasty meals without heating my kitchen. Roasts, chicken, soups, beans, veggies and breakfast casseroles are big on my list.

Looking forward to new exchanges
