Hi I'm Gail. I reached 180 lbs about 30 years ago, and decided to lose weight. I managed to get down to about 130 lbs. I'm not sure if it was SP or not as I can't get back into my old account. Since then I creeped back to 148 lbs and have developed T2 diabetes mainly controlled by diet, exercise and pills. 5 years ago I went on insulin (up to 20 units of long lasting/day) I've then upped my exercise & improved my eating habits and got down to 12 units. I thought I was doing good but couldn't lose the last 20 lbs & any inches off my waist, so I joined Sparks. Since joining and paying attention to Nutrients, I've learned that by tracking carbs only, I was starving myself (700-900 calories/day) Thanks to Sparks I visited my Dietician & have learned how to kept my carbs in line while upping my calories to 1250/day. I've lost 8 lbs + 3" off my waist, thanks to SP, so I thought I'd try premium. My goal now is to increase the other nutrients I'm short on, while not gaining weight back. I'm sure with the great support from friends I'm making on SP teams, I'll reach my goals & be able to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle. emoticon

Hi! My name is Janel Persell. I am 50 years old and married for 31 years to my husband Paul. Together we have four sons one of which has autism. They are 23,27.28 and 30. They are the joys of my life. I have a fourteen year old golden retriever named Dusty. I live in Roy, Utah a very beautiful state. I am a homemaker looking to lose seventy pounds. I have been doing SP for four years now. I have been on premium for a couple of weeks. My dieting is just a classic diet eating lean meats, fresh fruits and vegetables but I am trying to stay away from sugar and bread and pasta but I do eat rice. My favorite meal is tilapia with old bay on it served with black beans with onions and peppers mixed in over rice. It is delicious. As you can tell I love food which is why I am in this predicament lol. I am working on eating less. My diet is just fine. It isn't that I eat bad food but I do love the healthy stuff. I love to exercise, go bicycle riding and reading. I love doing you tube exercise videos and walking. I hope to meet all of you. I am excited to be a part of this team!

Hello from Kansas. I am Cathy Miller and I am giving SparkPeople another try. I am hoping to shed 25 pounds, 5 of which I have gained since the onset of the COVID madness. I am wanting to get back to eating healthy rather than moping around eating junk food. I have a doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction. I have been teaching PE for 34 years and coaching diving for 40. I have 4 daughters, 1 son-in-law, and 3 grandkids. I have one daughter who is a Junior at Kansas State University, one daughter who is a first-year grad student at George Washington University, one daughter who is in the dissertation phase of her doctoral program in Political Science at the University of Missouri Saint Louis, and my oldest daughter is director of sales/event planner and manager of Willow Creek Venue. I am owned by a one-year-old Harlequin Great Dane and 3 cats. I love to garden, exercise, play guitar, and cook. I am looking forward to making progress with my weight loss using the tools that are available through SparkPeople!

Hey y'all!
I've been on SparkPeople off and on for close to 10 years. I've had a lot of changes in my life and a lot of weight gain!! I really want to make the right choices this time, I have so many positive things going on in my life and I want my outside to reflect my inside.
I have a solid plan, I just need to constantly utilize it. I have small goals and a long term goal. I have some support but not always enough. With that being said, I wouldn't mind a check in buddy...
I try to make each day better than the last. I'm happy with the person I am and the person I am becoming!!

Hi . I just joined this team. Do you have to join premium to be on this team or can you just use the spark nutritional tracker ?

I would like to lose 50 pounds.
I followed it before when I was 40 and lost 25 on it. Over years I gained it all back and more.

So here I am at 50 years of age. I hope to lose 50 pounds but I will take 30! :-) Anything will help me feel and look better.

I decided this was the day! I looked at many of the diet program on the market today and have always loved Spark so I decided to make a commitment to taking this weight loss goal seriously for myself once and for all. After reading about some programs I decided to start with "2 weeks fast-track" and want to have 12 pounds off by then. After that I will slow it down to 1 or so pounds a week. So I have it broken down by 3 Goals: 7 wks to birthday, 12 pounds off, 14 wks to Reunion 15 pounds off, 26 wks to my Ultimate body shape 25 pounds off. Wish me luck! I really need support and encouragement to NOT GIVE UP. I am always good at beginning, not so good at finishing. This time FINISH LINE! emoticon

Hi I'm Danielle, I've been a member of Spark for MANY years and lost up to 40 pounds. I can't say that I've gained much of the weight back but I feel crappy. I haven't been to the gym lately but I do walk A LOT. I think because the scale didn't go crazy up I thought I was okay. I joined Premium 2 years ago but didn't really utilize it, I'm hoping to change that. I want to feel good again and I want to be accountable for my life.

My name is sparkfran live in Wash state so training for Bloomsday a 12 k in May my goal to finish in 2 hours or less.
I have also been sparking for 9 years get with in 5 pounds and silly eating sets in and i back to having to lose that last 10 pounds more than once I know what to do . and i am thankful its only 10 pounds and i know the answer is tracking and no silly eating at night . i going to do this time .

Hi , New here. My name is Edy and I just retired and worked overnights for a long long time. Really became unhealthy and let myself go while working. I walked anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000 steps a day and knees are now pretty shot. I use to jog back about 3 years ago also.
Everything came to a screeching halt when my hips and back caused me too much pain to work every night. I could not do this anymore. But now I am retired and want to be active in some way, eat better and be able to travel a little. Have not seen too many of the states, maybe 3 total.
I want to travel and at least enjoy these golden years to sight see. Especially Arizona my dream spot.Raised 5 children and I have have 16 grand children and 3 great grandchildren. I want to travel to see them also.

Hi! My name is Jennifer and I actually joined the team and Premium in December. I haven't been taking this as seriously as I should since then, but today I weighed in down 15 pounds just from the notifications on my phone reminding me to be better. I am blessed with a supportive husband who is making changes and efforts with me, and he has lost even more weight than me (but honestly, I am not surprised as men can generally lose more quickly).

Anyway, I am excited to be here and be serious about getting healthy. I have 35 more pounds until goal number one. I can do it!

Hi ya all! My name is Bonnie, I live in Beautiful N.Michigan on 78acres..I have no excuse for places to explore and walk I have to be careful in winter as it is rather treacherous out there and no one would find me 😨 I use my exercise bike, weights, resistance bands
During the winter plus lotz of shoveling.. I use a Samsung fitness tracker .
I was here for many years took a long Spark Break I'm back to try and get motivated.. I feel positive and ready to get this right for me and hopefully to help others if I can🙏🙆

I've been on SP for several years. Stepped away but back once all the weight plus some came back. I came back and started using the Premium and I have to say I'm losing weight slower than the first time but I'm gaining flexibility, stability, and I really believe I'm forming life long habits and not just quick results. I'm Renee from Virginia, and I just upgraded to Spark Premium this week. I am LOVING it! The nutrition tracker moves so much more quickly now! It's so easy!

Thought I would introduce myself to this team. I have been on Spark before, successfully losing 78 pounds, but then I got put on medication that made me gain it all back plus 20 more.

I am back here to release the weight for good. I am down 85 pounds toward a goal of 144. This time has been a real lifestyle change. I have a completely different attitude, losing my weight with the help of the Lord, instead of struggling on my own up and down. It's made a huge difference.

I am co-leader of a wonderful team called Women Weight Warriors of God. If you're a female Christian and want to join an active team filled with encouragement, come check us out!

I've been a SparkPeople member in the past (starting in 04 or 05) and it was helpful in helping me reach my goals at various life stages-sometimes fitness related goals, sometimes weight loss, sometimes other healthy habits. After a many year hiatus I'm trying SP again to focus on healthy habits (and yes, hopefully lose some lbs in the process).

I love exercise and being active, but my joints don't often agree with what I would like to be doing. I generally make sleep a priority. My bad habits revolve around food. My goal in joining the premium coaching is to identify ways to create better eating habits while getting rid of some unhealthy ones. Over the past year I tried a different program that led to a 20 lb loss but I was not forming any lasting habits, just white-knuckling it through the "program". Since I feel like SP has been the most helpful in helping me with holistic goals for my whole life I've decided to break up with that other program (and it feels pretty darn good).

Hi, My name is karen. I'm a 54 year old Mom to 6. They are 30, 26, 24, 22, 16 and 12. I love being a mom to a big family but i am afraid over the years raising my babies, i have neglected my self in many ways. But allowing myself to become obese is a major one. I am at the highest weight i have ever been. Didnt even weigh this much in any of the last months of pregnancy.
I have tried so many programs over the years. But cant seem to stick with anything for very long . I read everywhere that you have to want it bad enough. Well i do want to shed this weight bad enough. I hate how fat i am, i hate how fat i look to others, i hate looking at photos of myself, im so fat . I hate how i look in my clothes. I hate being fat.
So why cant i succeed in following a healthy eating plan and motivate myself enough to start exercising.? I feel like i want it bad enough, i know everything i need to do . I just cant do it !!!!! Sigh

Decided to give the premium a shot. 10 years ago I lost about 40lbs with Spark, but never did a great job of maintaining. Then about 3 years ago deep DEEP depression hit and it all came back, and then some. Struggling with my mental and physical health every day.

Trying to recuperate from deep depression and the 40lb gain that accompanied it. Every day is a struggle.

Back on SparkPeople after several years away. In the Premium free-trial right now, but plan to continue on. Im at goal weight and have been for 6 months. Im back on here because I want to keep it that way!!!

Hi. Last year around this time I was told I should have hip replacement. At that time I decided to lose weight to see if that would help and/or avoid surgery. I had high aspirations that I could do it, but since that time I have only lost 10 pounds which is not my goal. So, I decided to join Sparks for motivation and accountability. My surgery is scheduled in May. I'm hoping to lose weight to either make the surgery go smoother or maybe postpone the surgery because I feel better. Just want to say I'm getting a lot from the coaching.

Hi- I am back again; the last few months have been hectic and my Spark program fell by the wayside. I managed to gain back 10 of the 15 pounds I had lost. Life is getting back to normal and I am ready to do this again. Hoping for a bit of a different approach this time - for openers, I have shared my plans at home with my fiance - he is totally supportive. Also am trying to be more involved in the community pages here on SP. Just read through some motivational tips and found one that is great for me. Someone noted they keep a paper clip chain on their desk at work - each clip represents a pound lost. I now have a 2 clip chain as I came back at 180 and am down to 178. Hoping to add more clips soon - but also know that not every victory revolves around the scales. Happy Wednesday - hope your day is full of motivation!

Hi, I'm Amy Jo - I've been on and off of SparkPeople for years, and had wonderful success when I consistently used the site, but old bad habits crept in and I regained most of the 83 pounds I had lost. emoticon

Anyway, I'm back to get them off again, and then some! Last time I was really focused on reaching ONEDERLAND, and I did, and it felt so awesome, but later I lost focus and slowly wandered back out again, and now I've turned around and it is barely a dot on the horizon, but I will make my way back, and keep on going til I do something I've never done in all of my adult life...reach my weight goal. Thanks for anything you do to help me along the way!

My name is Marilyn. I have used SparkPeople before but did not met any of my goals so left. I am back determined to meet my goals this time by having a plan that is simple and easily followed. I have Heart Failure and must get my sodium intake below 2000 mg. My making menu plans and keeping track of the foods I eat will help me achieve this goal. I have a Dietitian that is going to send me some menus that will help with the sodium and also help me eat more veggies.

Hi, I'm Fig-- I am 53 years old and a divorced mom of a high school junior. I'm anticipating the empty nest in about 18 months and am planning ahead for some adventures (van dwelling among others). I want to improve my inner reserves, my overall sense of well-being, and my physical strength. I have about 40 extra pounds on me. Hi I'm Johnna and I recently returned to SP. I had lost about 60 lbs a couple of years ago with the help of Spark People and then I got of track. I actually did not start gaining weight back until this year after dealing with some serious health issues. It has been a little hard getting started again so today I joined premium coaching to get that added support and guidance. It is really important to me at this time in my life to get healthier as much as I can and my weight is a big part of that. Anyway glad to be here.

I'm Marsha (nickname Mick) from upper East TN. I've been a Spark member for several years. Drifted away due to slow pages caused by loading ads. I lost over 100 lbs. on another program that no longer works for me. After hip replacement last year my weight began creeping. I am 66, single, no family, and disabled due to arthritis and spinal stenosis. I scheduled knee replacement for October, but so much back pain I canceled. Surgeon says both knees and remaining hip need replacing. Im waiting to see what my spinal specialist says about my spine next month. I hated to see my weight creeping up too fast and know losing back to where I was will help with pain management. I retired at 60 on disability. I lost that 100+ without exercise. Got hooked on going to gym when I had to build muscle for hip replacement. Love gym work, but had to stop in summer due to pain level. Anyway, a member of my favorite Spark team told me how she enjoys Spark Premium, so here I am moving forward again. I did not realize I belonged to this forum until today!

Im Kelley, Im returning after being away for several years. Im in a transitional stage, Im about to make a big move.
Im wanting to lose roughly 40 lbs. Right now my main exercise goal is walking outside, being in Illinois I will probably change that soon. Im also looking to modify my eating habits, Ive already added a lot of water and cut down to 1 soda a day

Good luck to you Melissa! I'm KV and I joke with friends that I have lost 300kgs!! But I have! Over 40 years i have put it on and lost it and put it on and lost it - usually in 5-10 kg lots...sick of it...I have to find a slow way to lose it so I can finally keep it off so I'm gonna do it here!
