I find it helpful to just walk ten minutes a day. You can walk it in the house if you don't want to go outside. My docs tell me to exercise to help depression. I just take little baby steps so I won't get overwhelmed.

There is also a chair exercise team, so you can walk sitting still while watching TV.

You can do it.

If the mind mends, the body will follow.

A little over a month since my heart surgery (cardiac ablation). I have been terrified to do any real exercise, though I know I should. Hopefully this challenge will motivate me to get off my butt and just do something, even if it is just a little bit at a time. I love how this starts with 10 minutes and works up from there. I walked my first round of weight off...I know it can work again. Now just to get off my fanny and do it ;)

I can relate to lack of motivation. I just went through a stressful time and just didn't want to get moving. I started with the 10 minute walks then worked my way up to 30. I agree with the others, it will help with your depression. Get those endorphines going.

Hope you start feeling better!

Just set up a 10 minute streak for 1 week. At the end of the week- you will have achieved your goal. The next week add 5 minutes for a 15 minute streak. If a week is too long, just do it for the next 3 days. I have 155 lbs to lose, and feel overwhelmed by the time and size, but I can knock out weekly goals.

So for 68 days I have tracked my food, and I have exercised daily ( except today which was Dr appt) for 10 days. One day at a time , hon.

We will cheer you on!

I don't have the depression issue, but I can DEFINITELY relate to the lack of motivation and consistency! I tend to do things in fits and spurts!
I'm here hoping that I can be consistent for 30 days... You can too!

What if you fail?
You will.
Then, you move on.

Hi Minmon. if you start walking, your depression might lessen, too. I don't know in which part of the country you live, but if it gets too cold you could find walking videos, right here at sparkpeople.

Hello,

I'm a 55 year old overweight female. I struggle with consistency and motivation. I have severe depression which is unmedicated due to intolerance to most drugs. I'm a mess and need to take action but honestly I need help. My husband is very supportive but I need more help. I feel like I disappoint him in my lack of consistency. I would love to have a friend or mentor to help me make some type of progress. I do pretty good with my diet but cant seem to find an exercise I enjoy. I would appreciate any help.
