Guess I'm not really new or even newish. I'm more of a newly returned after a really long absence. That still counts, right?

Got a lot of reading of threads ahead of me. Can't wait.

IAMAHOTMAMA, I like EA Sports Active. There is also a More Workouts sequel which includes abs which the original didn't. The only thing is you'll need to buy a replacement resistant band or set because the one that came with the game is far too weak.

You asked about renting games. Our local Blockbuster rent them for a week but it's $10.00! They do have used games that you can purchase for the same amount of money. We bought Wii Music used from them for $10 and it is like new. It sells new at Target for $39-49. Also our local Big Lots has had new games for a good price. I'm a bargain hunter so I hope this helps. I haven't checked out the library yet. You can rent free DVD's, maybe games will follow.

Hello! I am not new to the Wii or the Wii fit but I am interested in using it more to its full capabilities lol. I stopped playing on my Wii board this past summer because it told me I was to heavy! That really bummed me out lol. But happily since then I am down about 38 pounds and I can hop back on the Wii! My name is Crystal and I am 22 years old and I am glad to have stumbled upon your wonderful group. Happy Wii-ing Everyone! emoticon

We just bought the Wii about 2 weeks ago and then my mom and I went in on the Wii Fit Plus because she uses it in physical therapy to help with her parkinson's Disease. I have 3 kids who I love seeing them get exercise instead of sitting down and moving a joystick back and forth. But me???? I don't do video games, or so I thought. I did my profile and did not like the results, but have improved from a Wii Fit age of 67 to 43 in 4 days. (i'm 44, so I'm happy to go down a year) Also have lost 8/10 of a pound in those 4 days. My family is out of town and I turned that Wii on and had a great time. (the dog probably thinks I'm weird, but so what) Anyway, I can see that being accountable and seeing results in weight and fitness levels is actually really motivating. I will definitely be adding the Wii to my arsenal of weight loss tools. Nice to meet you all!

Hi All,

Just thought I would just check in. I am fairly new to SP, and we also just got a Wii last week. We got it as a "Family Chanukah Present" last week and that is all we are doing. And since everyone knew about it -and I wanted to work out - we set it up. So far I have been really loving it.

I have bad ankle/knee issues which has made most exercise very difficult for me - which is how I gained the weight in the first place. Right now I am finding the Wii very doable in short bursts throughout the day, rather than using it too long and wearing my ankle out. I only have Wii Sports and the regular WiiFit games right now, but my birthday is coming up so wouldn't mind some good suggestions.

I also just saw someone suggest renting games first and that sound like a great option for me. Anyone know where I can do that?

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know people better.

Hi! Just got my Wii last night! We ordered it and the Fit from Amazon. The Fit came on Thursday and was taunting us all weekend. It's a lot of fun. I think it will really be a great addition to my work out- like a reward at the end.

I'm not new to SparkPeople, but I'm new to the Wii. DH bought me one for my birthday (November 12) along with the WiiFitPlus. I am LOVING it! I have only missed 2 days using it since he set it up me.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and sharing Wii fun and fitness.

Hello all. I am old to sparkpeoople but trying to get back on track. I lost quite a bit and then started gaining again. I have lost 20 since then but still not where I was at this time last year.

I am tired up this up and down. I want to be healthy and look and feel good. This tme I am not quitting and not getting distracted by anyone or anything.

I love my Wii and want to use it more in my weight loss journey.

I am excited to be in this group. I would love any suggestions on new games to buy. Currently I use the sprots, the fit, fitess coach, cardio workout, and the biggest loser game.

Hi, I'm new to Sparkpeople today and was excited to see there is a Wii Exercise team as this is what has really inspired me to lose weight. I borrowed a Wii from a friend with Wii Fit and some games to see if it was worth getting for kids christmas and loved exercising with Wii Fit so much (and the kids loved it so much) that I have ordered the Wii with Wii Fit Plus for the family's christmas. Can't wait to get it. In the meantime I am going to keep exercising with the one borrowed from friend.

Hi! I'm so excited to see there is a team for the Wii. My husband and I got a Wii as an anniversary gift last year and then added the Wii fit and balance board around Thanksgiving. At first, we played with it a lot but then we were a little too busy. Once we had more time available, we had seven people come to live with us, five of which were children, so we packed it up and put it in our room. (We weren't trying to be mean. It's just that there were too many things in the house getting broken at that time.) Now we have pulled it back out and I'm excited to get moving on it once more. The only thing I wonder is how you track it on your fitness tracker once you've completed a workout. (I only have the Wii Fit.)

Anyway, it looks like this is going to be a fun team.

Hello, everyone! I'm Aubri and I am trying to get back into the swing of things (again!) LOL I lost about 20 lbs last year with my Wii and then gained it all back and a little more after I stopped using it.

I've been trying to get busy with it again and have been loading up on different games. I'm looking forward to an opportunity for challenges and such.

Thanks for reading!

I bought the WII fit about a year ago and didn't use it until I bought Mia and "My Fitness Coach" for my birthday in December. Since then I have almost 400 workouts logged in on it. I saw the new one by Jillian Michael's and wondered if this almost 56 year old would get destroyed by it, or should I just wait until the price comes down? I ride a (outdoor, not stationary) bike three times weekly and the other three days I do the WII, alternating between core and upper body for 45 min. Thanks.

Life is short...live it for HIM!

hello everybody.

I'm Kitty. I live in PA, have five grandkids and a hubby. And kids to mother the grandkids of course.

We won a Wii last Christmas in a drawing and have Wii Talk and Animal Crossing and Wii play but the normal stuff that's supposed to come with a Wii didn't come with ours due to it being a reconditioned model. We didn't get a Wii Sports, which my grandson wants badly.

I'd like to get a Wii Fit for christmas, but I'm seeing you all talk about a Wii Fit Plus? what's that all about? what's the difference?

well that's enough for now, If I get all those questions answered I'll be doing good. Oh and any recommendations for an economical place to shop for all the super expensive games and accessories would be helpful. When I saw them coming out with New and improved stuff already I just gave up on buying for this console. LOL Kitty

Hello all, my name's Becky, and I'm new to both Wii Fit and SP. I'm planning to do Wii exercises on the days that I don't feel like going to the gym, or days when my schedule is not conductive to going. I look forward to getting to know you lovely people, and learning how to get the most out of my Wii exercises.

Well, I'm new to the group. I have Wii Fit and have a personal goal of doing 30-45 minutes daily. I see there is a bowling league and think I'll join up with that. My kids love the Wii and so do I. I'm hoping to get Wii Fit Plus, maybe for Christmas.

Welcome to all the other newbies too!! I am new to sparkpeople and started looking at teams and I was very excited to find that there are so many "Wii nerds" like me!! I love using the Wii for fitness. I teach martial arts, but beyond that it really is mostly Wii games. It is amazing that we can work out and have fun at the same time. I am looking forward to posting here and "hanging out" with the rest of you "nerds". emoticon

Hey everyone! I'm Meredith and I haven't ever used my wii for fitness before, mostly just sword fighting games and stuff like that. I recently went to a friends house who has been using wii fit or a regular workout and it peeked my curiosity! Can I really combine my love of video games with fitness? I'm interested to find out. emoticon

Hi, everyone! I've had a Wii for forever, but never Wii Fit. HOWEVER, my mom and I are going to go get Wii Fit Plus tonight and I am SUPER excited. I used to use it with a family that I baby sat for and LOVED IT, so I know that it's a good investment.

Plus, this is a get way for me to get my 5K training in without the monotony of the treadmill AND I can do all kinds of other stuff, too on the days I'm not kick boxing. I can stay active and have fun, which is a big thing for me to stick with a regular workout routine.

Hopefully I can match my weight loss this month or exceed it: 7 pounds.

Hi Kilibound- loved your post!! You are a busy lady, but you are doing it!! I have had to learn to put myself into the equation! Now the weight is starting to go down and I am happy! I may start doing a little less on my WATP, because I have been doing on most days the Wii Active challenge and 3 miles WATP. Getting a bit harder, may go back to the 2 mile workout! I love both though and don't want to give either one up!

Hi fellow Wii ers

I may be new to this team but I'm not new to Spark nor new to Wii nor new to trying to lose weight. I joined Spark in March 2008 after having given birth to my second. I did great up until my Mat leave ended and I was faced with the grim reality of returning to work and trying to "do it all" with little time to do it all in. I went from working out up to 3 hours a day (at times) to coming home and falling asleep on my couch once the kids were put to bed. Sadly, I relapsed and gained most of my initial weight loss back.

But, never say die. I'm back with a renewed sense of well being. I finally came to grips with the fact that weight loss is largely the result of calorie restriction, not insane exercise routines. I love food so it took a LONG time to finally wrap my head around that but once I did, things have been easier. I now try to eat between 1300 to 1500 cal per day and I no longer feel guilty about not working out for hours on end.

I have adopted a new "lighter" exercise regime that goes something like this:

I walk 10,000 steps every day - no excuses - not fast, just while I watch my evening TV.
and I follow a combination of the Biggest Loser Game and on off days, add the Wii Fit Plus workouts or My Fitness Coach or DDR or other DVDs and it seems to be working. (no more than 30 min on any of these) It keeps things fresh and interesting. I've been at it for 3 weeks now and have lost 6 pounds and I don't feel stressed out and I'm enjoying my kids and have found a new sense of energy and best of all, I look forward to my workouts!! Some of my past workouts were simply gruelling so this is such a refreshing change of pace.

It has only been 3 weeks though so one never knows when those nasty cravings will return but I'm glad to say that I survived Halloween relatively intact and not feeling as though I'd missed out.

I've already learned heaps from reading everyone else's posts over the past few weeks. I've picked up some great tips that I've already adopted. You all are a wealth of information and I can't wait to join up for challenges. I LOVE competition and the only downfall to my Wii is that my kids are too little and my husband has zero interest in exercise so I have no one to hang out with and my other Spark buddies aren't as down with the Wii as I am. They think I'm a Wii nerd.

Okay, that's all I have to share for now but looking forward to chat.

Guess it really is November and I'm in denial that it is.

My name is Pam and I'm in Wichita, KS. I work as an OR nurse 4 days a week and love my job but it really wears me out as it is very very physical. Still -- I have managed to pack on the pounds, and now in the process of SUCCESSFULLY taking it off. I need to add in exercise desperately and this just seems to much fun to pass up. Have got and have pre-ordered quite a few Wii fitness games. Previewing them from the armchair and setting myself up in them, but haven't managed to get up off my behind and actually DO the workouts. Think that this group will help me a lot with more activity and less talking about it.

Okay, I'm out of here for now, and will just "wait" for someone to help me out and get me in the groove here. It's a big group and perhaps I'll need a mentor or preceptor to get me going. LOL!!

See ya'll later. PAM

Glad to join this team. I am throughly enjoying my Wii. I am trying not to go out and buy all the fitness games. So far I have Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus and Fitness Coach. I want to give myself at least six months before I purchase anything else.
