Hello,
My name is Victoria and I'm a 22 year old Speech Pathology and Education major. I live in a small town and am about to move to Pittsburgh for graduate school. I am looking to make some more positive changes in my life and in doing so, have lost 15 pounds through Weight Watchers and switched to Spark People in an attempt to save some money. I am an obsessive blog reader and a barista at a locally owned coffee shop.I bike and do yoga (leisurely) and have recently hired a personal trainer at my university's rec center.
My friends and coworkers get incredibly tired of my diet talk so, I'd love to meet any and all of you. It's so helpful to know someone who is trying to make the same lifestyle changes and is able to relate to the trouble and triumphs that come with them. Please feel free to add or email me!

Victoria

Hello, I am Sara. I am a 28 year old first time mother of a six month old! I am jumping back on this Sparkpeople site and hopefully I can stick with it this time. I have set a small goal of ten pound for now, but ultimately I would love to lose sixty pounds and be at 170. I don't have a lot of support out here in Oklahoma or a lot of people I would talk to about weight loss so I am trying out this message board and hopefully it will help. I have been on Sparkpeople for almost 8 years now, but never really gave it my all. I was working retail jobs which required me to be on my feet all day and so when ever I wanted to lose some pounds, it was easy to take a few extra shifts, but now I am stuck behind a desk all day and then when I come home I have my baby to take care of. Sometimes she is happy to play on her own while I get in a quick workout, but that isn't always a constant. Ok, so I have rambled on enough I think. I am excited to talk to some of you members and hopefully get fit.

You don't get to choose how you are going to die. Or when. But you get to decide how you are going to live now.

Hi Im Sandy Im 25 and am a full time Junior Technical Analyst and part time Librarian Assistant in the Cayman Islands. For most of my life I was slender and could eat whatever I wanted without worrying about my weight than I started work after graduating from university and before I realized it I had gained 30 pounds. I shouldnt have been surprised after working 45 hours a week and sitting at a desk all day but I was upset and comments on my weight from family members didn't help my self-esteem. Its been slow going over the years, Ive had progress and setbacks and long plateaus but with permanent life style changes Ive managed to drop 19 pounds and I am on my way to dropping the last 11.

I dont just want to lose weight but gain stamina and endurance. I want to not just have a good shape but be in shape. I am happy to say I pay attention to what I put in my mouth now and how that will affect me in the long term and I am happy to know that I can hike over 1000 miles of mountain without feeling exhausted :).

Hi I am Sabrina. Born in South Africa but New Zealand is home.

-Have 53kg to lose (116lbs)
- My current weight is 112kg (246lbs) Wow, things sound better in kg's!
-I live in New Zealand, both Auckland and Dunedin
-I am 24 years old and postgrad uni student
-My biggest reason for losing weight is confidence, my self esteem is at an all time low and it's affecting my life greatly, I have isolated myself and realising lately that I can't find any good qualities that I like about myself made me realise I need to achieve goals and do things that will make me proud of myself and learn to love myself again, be able to go to the store and not be scared to try clothes on, go out and meet people and not be scared to talk because I am afraid of being judged because of my weight. I feel like I am still young and losing out on a lot of life because of my weight and how much confidence and self-esteem it has made me lose.

Would love to meet some weightloss buddies

Hi Everyone,

I'm Becky. I'm 22 and just out of University. I grew up as the fat friend my whole life. And I'm just kind of sick of it. Now my friends are all starting to marry off and I'm standing up in a wedding next year. I want to lose 50 Ibs by May of next year. Ive always been bad at sticking to exercise routines. Either because I get an injury or I get frustrated by not seeing results. I'm hoping that putting a date on my goal will help me learn that even if I can't see it I'm making progress.

Hey there everyone, I'm Sarah from Eastern Washington. I was always the "fat kid" growing up, but I started exercising in college and got into shape. Then grad school happened and I gained 60 lbs (from all the stress and emotional eating and not enough sleep and utter doom). Now that I'm out of grad school, I'd like to lose that weight (I'll keep the degree, though~~).

I've been on and off Spark in the last couple of years because of family concerns, but it looks like things are settling down now, so I have more time to focus on my wellbeing. Right now, I have a lovely little garden of herbs and tomatoes going and I'm getting back into cardio/zumba, so I'm hoping I can stay consistent with the healthy habits I'm relearning! I look forward to getting to know you all~

Hello :) I'm Teresa. I'm 21 years old and from California.

I don't have much a story to tell except that I gained a little weight when I started college and I decided to catch myself before it got too far. Since January, I've managed to lose about 10 pounds but the scale has pretty much stopped for the last month or so. I don't mind so much though, I'm happy with what I've accomplished. I would like to keep going though and I need some new motivation and encouragement to do so. Even though I'm happy, I keep coming back because I really enjoy fitness and nutrition and learning about healthy living. And I still have a lot to improve upon. Besides that, I love reading and video games, and singing and dancing, even if I'm not that great at them :)

I'd love to get to know you guys better and share the encouragement!

Hi all!

I'm Katie, 20 years old and am from Pennsylvania.

I have been struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember and it all began with my sister telling me I was fat as an eight-year-old (when I most definitely was not). It was then that I realized that being fat was a 'bad thing' and proceeded to spend the next 12 years of my life gaining weight until I reached 220 and obsessing over health and losing the weight. It has honestly been such a major thing in my life growing up and I always kept it very private. I've been on and off sparkpeople for the last few years and managed to lose 50 pounds in one of those off sparkpeople periods. After sitting in a very long plateau, I sort of lost my sense of direction and motivation in my weight loss. I got too comfortable at the weight I was at and too caught up in the compliments I was getting. So I'm back on sparkpeople to lose these last 30 pounds and learn to be an all around healthier person.

Other than that I love to read, travel, and cook. I'm in my last year of uni and am trying to figure out my life along way!

Hi, I'm Mellissa, I'm 23, and from NY.

I like to write, draw, and belly dance, though I'm no expert on any of those things. Lol. I started trying to lose weight around 2010, and lost 50lbs. It's fluctuated since then, and I was still having trouble keeping it steadier. I rejoined sparkpeople to keep track easier so I don't have these huge jumps and drops so often. Unfortunately during my initial weight loss I wasn't focused on strength training. I wanted to do it, I knew it'd be better for my health, and my confidence, but I just wasn't motivated. Now that I'm happy with my weight range, I'm trying to focus on toning. I don't like being "skinny fat" which, for those who don't know, is when you don't have a lot of extra weight, but it's much more fat than muscle.
I've started kettlebell training, and am trying to get used to eating more calories because it burns so much. You'd think it'd be easy, but once you get used to eating 1200-1500, it's hard to add and extra 400-450.

I have bipolar disorder type 2, which basically means I have more depressive cycles, and I don't get as over the top during hypomanic cycles. It's well treated though, and taking care of that has made a huge difference in my life. I also suffer from anxiety (social, and general) but it's been much more manageable since getting the BP treated.

I guess that's all can think of.

Highest: 178lbs Current: 130-145lbs (Depends)
Goal: Bulk, cut, repeat until desired level of muscle is built. Then maintenance.

Hi Everyone!
My name is Erika. I am currently studying medical radiation sciences with a speciality in radiation therapy. I am planning on applying to med school next year. I will most-likely also apply to a masters program in medical physics in case I do not get into med school. I have a general interest in health and nutrition and spend a lot of my personal time researching these topics. I have a passion for sport and was captain of the varsity rowing team at my school this past year. However, I have been battling a back/rib injury for the past year and have been forced to accept that in order to be healthy, I have to pursue other athletic interests. I recently signed up to run my first full marathon in early November. I am very excited for this and will kick off my "running season" with 30k Around the Bay on March 30th. I am hoping to be 15-20lbs lighter for my marathon at the end of the year.
I have been on spark people for about a year now. However, most of my streaks have been ruined by emotional breakdowns relating to school and sport. I am working really hard to find ways to combat these problems. If anyone has any strategies I am all ears! I also have a history of struggling with anemia (low iron levels). Lately this has impacted my progress. Although I am generally eating healthy, my anemia is making me super tired.
Feel free to stop by my sparkpage or send me a message. I would love to get to know you all so we can help one another reach our goals.

Hello All!
I've been apart of SparkPeople/SparkTeens since 2005, but I am just now starting to venture into the Community portion of the site. I've struggled with weight and food addiction my entire life, but with the help of Spark People I was able to lose 40 lbs between 2005 and 2007 my lowest adult weight being 122 lbs. After I lost all that weight, I stopped using Spark People - thinking that "I had it" and didn't need to track anything anymore but long story short - after falling off the wagon countless times, and a roller coaster of events in my life, I have made my way to 190 lbs today. As I've stumbled through this journey I have always seen my weight as a cosmetic problem, but after a miscarriage in June 2013 and a few visits to my doctor, it is apparent that my weight is directly effecting our ability to have a baby. Therefore, I've never wanted this more! There are days when I want to give up but I'm determined and I know I can do it because I've done it before. My biggest stumbling blocks right now are 1. Lack of self-control 2. Feeling entitled to eat unhealthy food 3. A reoccurring hamstring injury from soccer which limits the cardio that I'm able to do. I've got to get creative and find a way to change my thinking about nutrition and fitness. I have many short term goals but my big, long term goal was set by my Dr. and that is to lose 60 lbs by March of 2015 (date set by me). I've got a long journey ahead, but I will not be beat!

Alyssa

Hi!! I'm a 28 year old engineer (desk job, ugh) from Wichita, KS. My journey has been very up and down, but lately I've gotten a little more focused. I was very thin in high school (~ 125 lbs) mainly because I played sports ALL the time. I gained about 20 lbs throughout college, which I was fine with, but since I graduated and stopped moving all day, I've gained another 20ish. I'm now at 162, the most I've ever weighed, and at 5'7 I'm approaching an unhealthy weight. I've never had to worry too much about what I eat, so that's my biggest struggle, making myself be disciplined with calories. I still play soccer and volleyball, so that helps, and I like to workout, but burning calories can only take me so far!! I'm married too, so that doesn't help (my husband loves yummy food, and desserts). I've been tracking through SparkPeople off and on for the last 8 years or so, but I'd love to stay more consistent! Ok that's enough rambling!!

WEIGHT LOSS STORY

Hello all,
I'm a 21 years old and I have a really traumatic and complicated life story which led to childhood and lifelong depression and monstrous weight gain. At my heaviest, I was 15.5 years old and weighed in 345 lbs. I got down to 234 lbs (lowest weight ever) in a year, but then life happened... I began socializing for the first time in my life and it was too stressful for me... I felt i was being judged or rejected the whole time and i was too afraid to get slim. slowly my weight stabilized to 245-255 lbs for a few years, but then I got to university... my depression got severe, social life was nonexistent and I hit 300 lbs once again. So this July, I was started on meds for the first time, and I started shrinking once again. :)
My ultimate goal is 167 pounds, but I don't know if it's too low a weight for me yet, because I've never been slim and I'm a heavy boned and big framed woman of 5'10'' whose skeleton alone weighs 151 lbs. Which means I'd be glad anywhere between 167-189 pounds... But I'd love to be a skinny, bony girl eventually... I really want to prove to myself that I'm much more than a genotype or a victim of the circumstances. But I should start at hitting the 200s land I guess... I'm not quite there yet, but I'm definitely heading there! :)
Thanks for reading through.
