What do you like to do for fun? Hike, I also like to kayak but in Wisconsin that is a short season!

What diet are you following? Eating healthy

What is your favorite exercise? Hiking / walking (Leslie Sansone indoors) emoticon

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season? The last couple of months I have been dealing with tendonitis in my leg - it is getting better though!

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I don't believe I have.

2 random fun facts about you? I am a 60 year old trying to stop the aging process by getting healthier and more fit (I also joined our wellness team at work). emoticon I am a cat person - currently have 4, but that is my max!! Don't want to be the crazy cat lady!! emoticon

Anything else you would like to share? Last year I signed up for the '52 Hike Challenge' and set a goal of doing 52 hikes on 52 different trails. I only made it to 45 as between the weather turning (snow in October) and my leg acting up I didn't get out the last few months. I have joined that challenge again this year and intend on making it and then some! emoticon emoticon

I am using the Sparkpeople nutritional guidelines using foods with ingredient lists that look like a recipe I could make in my kitchen (avoiding processed foods). I am also trying to cut back on my sugar intake.

What is your favorite exercise?
Walking

- Staying in calorie range has been an issue the last few months
- I have a 40 Mile commute each way to work in downtown Detroit so I spend a lot of time in the car

No, I believe my first was the 2017 Summer 5% Challenge and I have participated in all of them since.

What do you like to do for fun? I love going to the beach and enjoying the ocean. I love doing beach walks. I enjoy going to the outlet malls in the area. I love meeting up with friends for lunch.

What diet are you following? Calorie counting & staying within a specific range.

What is your favorite exercise? I most enjoy doing workouts from Leslie Sansone or others on YouTube. I just recently found BEat Fit that has good workouts, too.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season? Due to fibromyalgia, I have a generalized overall aching day in and day out.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I started doing the 5% challenges in the fall of 2018. That first one was mostly getting oriented. When the 2019 new year kicked in, I was ready to knuckle down and get to work. I was very blessed to lose around 32 lbs in 2019. For 2020 I want to continue to work toward being healthier and more fit.

2 random fun facts about you? I have a silly little dog named Abby who likes to take me for walks. I have fun working with a team of people at a local Compassion House food & clothing mission.

Anything else you would like to share? Just eager to get started.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. This will be my second challenge with the Firecrackers. The Fall 2019 was my first and it was loads of fun. I did not lose the 5%, but I will just keep on trying.

2 random fun facts about you? First, I have the opposite issue of AKA_TROUBLE, my sense of smell is in hyper-drive. I smell things other people do not/cannot. I must have been a blood hound in a past life. Second, I cannot float, even in salt water. I sink like a rock.

Hi All,

I am Sarah. I just got an email about joining this challenge and thought it might do me some good. It also happens to start at a good time for me. A weekend I do not have my children whom I get every other weekend. I don't have custody but have visitation. They are 11 1/2 and 14 and two girls. Michelle and Megan are their names.

Anyway, I could lose 5% which I figured out brings me down to 174 from 183 which would be 9 pounds to lose. I hope I calculated it right. You can comment or message me on my page if I did not. :)

I work at an electric/gas company and do multiple things there. I work as a Data Analyst and most of it is collections and start and stop services. I absolutely hate collections so don't get on my case about it! LOL. There is another project that I do most of the time but it is hard to explain really. It's benchmarking for New York City mostly. They have to do something for Energy Star if they have a large building and get in trouble/fined if they don't.

I don't live in New York City but upstate New York near Scranton, PA and Syracuse, NY!

I have a cat whom I love and wonderful parents.

Well enough about me. :)

I am editing...did not answer some questions. Did not read that far.

My favorite exercise is walking and I do Leslie Sansone Walk at Home to be specific. Nutrition I do not follow any diet. No I have never done a challenge before.

HELLO! My name is Donna, on SP I am GMADONNA70.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN ? I love to go fishing with my hubby, I read and Spark, garden and spend time with the grandkids and great grands.

WHAT DIET DO YOU FOLLOW: I have tried almost all of them over the years, but I find the best one for me is to eat sensibly and stay in my calorie range that Spark set for me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE EXERCISE? Really?? someone has a favorite exercise. OK, I enjoy walking when the weather permits. If I have to stay inside I do Leslie Sansone videos and strengthen with hand weights and bands. I also use a stability ball sometimes.

PERSONAL CHALLENGES: My biggest challenge is consistency, I have a hard time keeping an exercise plan going, I just can't stay motivated!! HELP!!!

ANYTHING ELSE? I am 73 years old, I have been retired for almost 5 years. My last job was a physical therapy technician for 10 years, the best job I ever had. I live in Central Nebraska. I have been married to my soul mate for 55 years we have 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren and 3 greatgrands.
I joined Spark People in 2016 and I am a Leader of the Small Goals Commitment Challenge Team. I am so close to goal but just can't kick those last few pounds to the curb. I know that I am not nearly as active as I should be.

I am looking forward to this Challenge and hope I don't let the Team down! I have never done one of these before.

What do you like to do for fun?

I'm a musician. I play guitar and ukulele and am a songwriter, so I spend a lot of time doing that. I'm also a grandmother of a 3 year old and a 3 month old. Grandkids are the MOST FUN EVER!

What diet are you following?

Not following a particular diet. I'm doing whole, healthy foods that are cancer resistant as I'm a breast cancer survivor. I want it to be a way of life, not something I do then stop. I want my body to reach it's natural weight. My problem with diets is that I can't maintain after I've lost all the weight.

What is your favorite exercise?

I like to do the treadmill and I like to walk. I lift light weights and sometimes use the stationary bike.

I love to hike, but haven't done it for over a year. Hoping to get back on the trail, eventually.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season?

Body is still in recovery mode. I had surgery on my hand and elbow on 12/2. Also, I'm on heart medication and a hormone blocker for Breast Cancer (for 5 years), both of which have weight gain as a side effect. I know it's an uphill battle, but I think it's winnable.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it.

I've signed up for other challenges but couldn't figure out some of the technical stuff. This time, I'm figuring it out and am ready to drop 5% and get back on track. Cancer like sugar and hates exercise. That's what I'm focusing on.

2 random fun facts about you?

1) I've been married to my husband for 39 years and we're still ridiculously in love.
2) I'm a geek.

Anything else you would like to share?

I'm looking forward to being part of a team. I've used SparkPeople to track my food, on and off, for a few years. There's a lot of support here. I don't think I've fully taken advantage of all that the site provides. To be honest, the last few years have been a bit hard. I got tired of posting about how bad things were. At one point, I wasn't sure I'd make it to see my first grandchild born. God is so good He's given me two of them! I am at risk for the breast cancer metastasizing. I want to do what I can to keep it at bay. I'm tired of having my life be interrupted by all these health things. LOL! Praise God I'm still breathing!

What do you like to do for fun?
I am a member of a group of local ladies who plan a variety of activities, such a Mahjong and book clubs. I enjoy spending time wit my grandchildren, watching their sports activities. I also enjoy a variety of crafts.

What diet are you following?
For the most part, I do best when I follow an LCHF plan, like Atkins. I use Arbonne products and do a clean eating cleanse from time to time.

What is your favorite exercise?
I enjoy exercises that keep me moving, like line dancing or Zumba. My go to is walking, which is much better since my knee replacement!

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season?
Thankfully-none at this time.

I joined the Winter challenge in 2017 and was on the Weight Warriors for several challenges. I loved the team, but needed a break while I was dealing with my mother's estate and my own knee issues.

2 random fun facts about you?
1) I have been married to the boy next door for over 44 years, have 2 children/ 5 grandchildren and have lived for 40+years in the house my DH built.
2) I love to sing and got a chance to do a spot commercial for a local store, singling their jingle and was privileged to sing in the Blaine House (where our Governor lives while in office).

Hi everyone. It's been a long time since I've participated in one of these challenges. I will try my hardest to pull my weight (lol!)

What do you like to do for fun? Read

What diet are you following? Nothing formal -- just trying to stay within my calorie range.

What is your favorite exercise? I love to walk, but currently have a knee injury so I am going to have to do something else, at least for a while.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season? See above. According to the doctor, I have a twisted kneecap. It is pretty painful sometimes. I was given exercises for it, which I am doing faithfully.. Because of this situation I am having even more trouble than usual in getting/staying motivated, plus it makes me sad that I can't do what I want to do. I always took walking for granted. Never again!

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. Honestly it was so long ago I can't remember details, except that I really enjoyed it.

2 random fun facts about you? I am a retired librarian who is now working part time for my attorney son as a quasi-paralegal. I have 2 adorable grandchildren (ages 5 and 1) who live on the opposite coast, so we don't get to visit them as often as we would like. I am so glad there is Face Time so we can see and talk to them. I wish that had been around when my kids were young!

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. Since starting the 5% challenges in 2018, I have lost a total of 15 pounds. I haven't made my 5% goal during challenges but I've lost a total of 8% overall.

2 random fun facts about you? I love heavy metal and heavy prog rock. We did a Cruise to the Edge last February (cruise with all prog rock bands including Yes and Steve Hackett from Genesis) . It was so much fun!

2 random fun facts about you? I love to quilt, and I love my work at the MGH riding arena.

What do you like to do for fun?
Hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, snow shoeing, camping, reading, writing, photography

What diet are you following?
Vegetarian. I've found I tend to crave/binge on fats (especially cheese) so I'm trying to introduce more vegan dishes and keep the fats in controls. I aim to follow the "plate" diet - fill 1/2 with veggies, 1/4 proteins and 1/4 carbs - and I try to eat the rainbow and get a wide range of freggies.

What is your favorite exercise?
Running. I've run 6 half marathons and a Tough Mudder, and I'm trying to get in shape to run another half next year.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season?
Grief and depression. In the past year and a half, I've lost my grandmother, grandfather, my mom (very unexpectedly), had emergency surgery to remove fibroids that were causing severe bleeding, and am supporting my sister-in-law as she recovers from a resistant infection following her own surgery. As an emotional eater, this has translated to lots and lots of binge eating.

I've done several, and I used to be an extra leader for the Spirited Underdawgs.

2 random fun facts about you?
I've been to 15 of the U.S. national parks (about 1/4 of them)
I've seriously injured myself every other January for over a decade. Thought I broke the cycle this year....then needed emergency surgery on Jan. 25th.

Anything else you would like to share?
I have two adorable cats that I suspect I may love a little too much...

What do you like to do for fun? read, cook--look for recipes, visit with friends--includes family

What diet are you following? as a diabetic, I try to follow a lifestyle that encourages healthy eating focusing on veggies, fruits, grains. No "formal" plan, just choosing wisely

What is your favorite exercise? WALKING

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season? still trying to reduce my numbers so can reduce my medication; we seem to have sold our house so will be moving during the challenge

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I've done several challenges and LOVE them becase they encourage me to be consistent in exercise/eating AND hold me accountabe.

2 random fun facts about you? Still taking piano lessons. again. Belong to 4 book groups through the local library.

What do you like to do for fun? Really nothing, but I need to. I have been working two jobs (doing 7 days a week) for so long that I don't know how to relax.

What diet are you following? None, I can't find a diet that works for me. So I have been changing up every few weeks.

Reading. I'm currently reading "Feast without Fear" by Gin Stephens. Next is "Delay, Don't Deny" by Gin Stephens. I also enjoy knitting, crochet, sewing by machine and by hand. I'm quite crafty.

Caregiver, is stressful, and Job seeking, both my husband and I, Disappointed that husband did not apply for Holiday work, another missed opportunity.
Everyday I wake up happy ( personally), but have to clean- up after a family member just to make my own breakfast! It is on-going, I feel that If I donít keep up, will take that much longer.
My time is not my own.

I will be 65 in February and I have an arrhythmic heart they are looking into. Good news is I can still do walking but no running till after last tests in January.

If you have children or grandchildren be sure they have the advantage of (as best that you can), of family children's family hour at least one week evening before bedtime consistently on the same weekday and time, particularly where the older kids take part in contributing a spiritual lesson, or demonstrate a new or improved talent.

This came at a very appropriate time for me. I am very housebound--talk about that later--and need to get myself regimented to my 'new way of life'. I don't like it, but this is the way it is for me for at least a few months, until I get my ole body back into condition after a fall. I am 'up' for anything I can do, and will try anything within my limitations.

The timing is perfect for me to have found this challenge. Can't wait to start...

What do you like to do for fun? In summer I swim in our backyard pool. Right now, with some physical limitations, I love to walk-indoors and outdoors, I just do limited housework-it CAN be fun, and ride my stationary bike.

What diet are you following? My own pulled from various sources over the years: basically watch what I eat and be sensible. It worked so far.

What is your favorite exercise? Don't do regular exercise any longer--have lost most of my excess wt. Do walk for regular exercise and ride bike.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season? yes, severe pain in knees--need a cane.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. It was about 2 years ago and I had finished about 8 years of challenges.

2 random fun facts about you? I used to be a teacher.--I love to take walks.

Anything else you would like to share? I have 2 daughters (should say 'had 2 daughters, my oldest died of cancer in August, can't get used to that), SO-1 DAUGHTER, 1 son, 6 grands, 4 great grands.

What is your name or nickname? Leigh Ann

What do you like to do for fun? I like role playing games (both computer and tabletop), singing, listening to music, and reading (usually fantasy or historical fiction)

What diet are you following? Erm... yeah, maybe I should work on that.

What is your favorite exercise? Adventuring! I like to go caving (which is basically rock climbing underground), I prefer walks when they take me somewhere interesting, sometimes it's really fun to dance, and really anything that seems like it might be fun. (Had a blast trying aerial silks with my daughter, for instance.)

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season? I am dealing with a LOT of challenges right now. That's actually why I'm here. My life has spiraled out of control, but at least I can be in charge of my own self care. And hopefully, if I improve my health, I will have more energy, more optimism, and be better able to manage the stress and anxiety that life keeps throwing my way.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. This is my first one. I'm looking forward to having friends to keep me motivated and accountable.

2 random fun facts about you? I used to cosplay, and I think it would be fun to do it again. I graduated summa cum laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Anything else you would like to share? I have the most amazing daughters. (Yeah, I know I'm biased, but they really are!) It's funny, because I swore up and down that I would never have kids when I was younger, and now they are the best, brightest thing in my life. They both make me so proud.

What do you like to do for fun?read, play word games on my phone, do crossword puzzles,the list goes on and on

What diet are you following? Just trying to do moderation in everything, I am reading Linda Spangle's 100 Days of weight loss and have 100 More Days in my queue of books to read and put into practice

What is your favorite exercise? walking

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing with this season? The stress of limited time and multiple priorities

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. Have done many. I have never come close to getting rid of my 5% but each challenge has had the effect of keeping me from really blowing up weight wise

2 random fun facts about you? I am a big lover of dogs to the point where I welcome visitors to stay at my home and be part of our household while their owners go on vacation.
Along with my DH we watch our two Grandbabies, Penelope who just turned 3 and Miles who will be 15 months on the 20th, 3 days a week, @ 10 hours a day for the both of them and once a week with just Miles while his sister goes to daycare. A very rewarding, tiring experience :D

I was in the last one, but with 3 unplanned trips and 2 unplanned fevers... It did not go as we'll as planned.

After being retired for 8 years I decided to find a part time job and now work with a group of lovely girls who could be my grandchildren. I love it !

Being on Spark People has been the best results for changing my eating habits and my lifestyle. This is because adding exercise has made a difference.
