Awesome, Carolyn! Yes, you should be able to google and find some local races. You can also check active.com and raceplace.com...both of those usually list a ton of local races. And finally, yes - the breast cancer runs are in October so it would be for a really great cause too! Also, look for turkey trots near Thanksgiving, those are usually somewhat casual and fun...some even have costumes! :-)

You're doing great!!!

Do a search on iTunes for Couch to 5K and you are guaranteed to find Robert Ullrey's podcast...it is simply called Couch to 5K. :-) He will tell you when to run and when to walk...and better yet he'll let you know you aren't going to die! emoticon

But if you don't do the podcast, for whatever reason, does your nano have a stopwatch? I know my ancient iPod Video has one in the Extras and you can even use it to "lap" so that you can have a new time for each interval.

Download a C25K podcast from Robert Ullrey's site if you haven't already. You are gonna love it. I would never have been able to run the 3 5k's that I have if it weren't for his program.

In approx 9 or 10 weeks you will be running 3.1 miles. I would just caution you to take longer and repeat weeks if you need to.

hello, I like to walk and occasionally run; I like to use my old nano ipod with a sensor for nike plus +

is this a program to RUN a 5K? -yikes
first I would have to run a 1K, but I think I can do that

that is a good goal to start with

i can and do walk/jog 5K
but usually I walk/jog 1-2 miles
so 5K is perfect to 'kick it up a notch' -right?

one of my favorite authors is covert bailey 'fit or fat?'
he talks about how exercise changes your body chemistry

i think i will reach my weight goals by working on increasing exercise rather than eating only 1200 calories a day - a struggle for me
