Welcome to this great group with lots of support. I've never been a runner before in my life until I started the program a couple of months ago. It's addicting! Glad you've joined us.

Welcome Kristen! You are going to love being a runner. The best advice I can think of is to go slow. Don't try to rush the program and risk an injury.

LCB, here is a site that lays out the C25K program. There are also podcasts with the music and timing to help you along.

Welcome! I'm doing my 2nd week of C25K -but I'm repeating the first week. I've never ran before and have to get used to it. Plus I haven't been exercising for over a year until I started SP about 2 weeks ago.

I hope you have a wonderful time & hope we both can run a 5K soon. My plan is for October.

What is the c25k? I've seen lots of people make reference to it and I'm curious.

Hey Kristen, welcome!! I haven't been here too long either but I've learned alot from sp. I started trying to lose weight at the beginning of the year, only started running about two weeks ago. Some days it's easier than others. The heat and humidity here in Georgia this week has been a killer. Last night I got a mile down the road and had to call hubby to come get me because it started raining like crazy.lol I finished my workout at home. The kid in me said "oh just run in the rain"! lol Maybe next time I will.

When I started the c25k my thighs also rubbed. I no longer have rubbing thighs. Woohoo. Congrats on your new beginnings and we will be here for support and will be looking for your support.

Welcome! Glad to have you! I have cheerleaders too and I never even knew it! haha

In your life's journey, there will be excitement and fulfillment, boredom and routine, and even the occasional train wreck...But when you have picked a dream that is bigger than you personally, that truly reflects the ideals that you cherish, and that can positively affect others, then you will always have another reason for carrying on. - Pamela Melroy

So I may not be the biggest girl out there, but I'm familiar with my own cheerleaders.....thighs clapping as you run, anyone??

My name is Kristen, and I've been with SP for a few weeks now, tracking my food/calorie intake and making sure I'm drinking enough water. Only last week did I really get serious with the C25K program...I eased myself into it 5 days last week with 30 second jog, 1 minute walk intervals. This week I've officially started the program and I can already feel a difference in stamina, strength, and most importantly, my attitude!
I'm here to help support others and gain support from you all when I need a little extra push for motivation. I hope to get to know many of you, and perhaps eventually run a 5K (or more) with you all too! I'm with you all in spirit!
So hello!
