I'm glad I inspired you :)
My next reward (goal reached today!) is a classic: a day at the spa. And the last but one is sporty too: Attending at least one Zumba class :)

You know you're body best. Although the program can be started at any point in physical fitness, I did have the advantage of having done a lot of hiking which had built my legs up a lot and I think helped me when I started. So working on developing your legs can be a good thing. My suggestions would be to continue the strength training in your legs and do a lot of walking if you aren't already to get yourself ready. That positive focus on exercise you have and using something special like that as a reward is a great idea. I've always wanted to learn to kayak althouogh resources around here are slim. Maybe I'll use that as a reward and go out of the area to do it as a reward to myself for a goal. Hadn't thought of doing that before but you've inspired me.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome!
I know it might sound weird to have C25K as a reward, but ever since I embarked on this, I tried to have as positive an attitude towards exercise as possible.
The reason why I want to wait another couple of months, despite already being lighter than some other runners, is that I do not particularly "trust" my legs. They felt weak for as long as I can remember and I only discovered recently and much to my amazement that I can do squats. So by waiting til I'm down to 80kg, I'll have the feeling that my legs have to carry less and that they had another couple of months of training at the gym & pool.
Makes perfect sense to me ;)

Wow Babs C25k as a reward?!?!

Well, welcome when you're ready. I weigh 102kg and am doing this programme. It's fantastic and as long as you listen to your body as you go, you should be fine at any weight! emoticon

Hope to see you running with us soon

Welcome Barbara! You are going to love running. You will find yourself so excited that you may try to do too much. My advice is not to try to run too fast. Start of slow and work your way up. Each week both pushes you a little bit further and prepares you for the next week.

Welcome to the group! There are a lot of beginners, and some further along, at all levels and all weights. If it's a reward we look forward to having you training with us when you hit your goal. If you decide you want to do it now, there is a lot of support here. So glad you've joined us and we'll be happy to answer questions, offer support, etc.

Nice meeting y'all!
I'm a 33 year old Austrian who lives in Belgium, and my name is Barbara (or Babs for short). C25K is part of my reward system, I promised myself to start pursuing it as soon as I hit 80kg = 176lbs (to be reached by September). But I am definitely looking forward to it and already want to read up a bit.
