My name is Olivia. I'm still learning how to use Spark. I've NOT been a doer, and I'd like to change that. Here it goes...

I can't remember a time when I was okay with my body image, and I'm finally interested in seeing a trainer, coach, or someone to help me hold myself accountable for these 30lbs I'd like to lose.

I've tried various paths. I eat well Mon.-Fri. while at work, and I guess I throw myself off balance in the evenings and on the weekends. Self-sabotage?

I've weighed 175, give or take 2 lbs for WAY TOO LONG, I'm 5'4", maybe. I've been with my boyfriend almost 4 yrs. and gained 20lbs enjoying restaurant life the first two yrs. I outgrew clothing. I hate dressing every morning and I'm too stubborn to buy more clothes if I don't like my body this way.

I'm 38 and realizing I'm spending (and have already spent) too much time not liking my body image. The fussing doesn't help.

I have this idea that if I could spend more time visualizing and meditating and creating these picture fitness boards with a large calendar and read lots of nutrition articles, that, eventually something will kick in...nothing's really kicking in, and I'm still just talking.

I'm thinking I would appreciate a conversation around this topic with hopes of creating an ACTION PLAN for weigh-ins with buddies once a week. The big To-Do here for me is ACTION and ACCOUNTABILITY. I'm trying to figure out how that should look in order to get results. We all know "what" to do. It's figuring out the "how to" that gets results! Let me know friends. Thanks!

Hello! I joined SP yesterday and I'm very excited about having support on my journey to reclaim my fit body! I've spent the last year in a whirl of change and in the process I stopped working out and started eating out! It sure has been fun putting on 25 pounds and I plan to make it just as fun taking it off. I'm going to Vegas in October with my boyfriend and his family and I'd love to be looking and feeling great on that trip.
This is a fantastic community and I look forward to becoming more involved!

Hello Wonder,
As for my weight; when I joined Spark back in 2005, I had weighed 220lbs and got down where I am now. I watch my calories, small portions and lots of water.

And for Alaska, I lived up there most of my life. When I left in 1981, a 2 bedroom apartment went for $220.00 a month. You just have to know the right people... Yes, in 1980, a gallon of milk was $4.25. I still have family up there too. I went back in 2002 (under a bad situation) it had changed so much.

I lived in Alaska for 25 years and loved it a lot. Do want to visit again. Have some family up there still. Went back in 2002 under bad circumstances.
before I joined Spark, I weighed 220 (2 years ago) and I am where I'm at now. I have lost 52lbs, b/c I wanted to lose and under a lot of stress too. But I do feel better since I have that much already. Always, ERNA

Well Hello and Welcome Heather and Erna,

You are doing really well. Heather I know how getting stuck is. Sometimes a little change in either diet or excersize can getyou past that "stuck" point. That is just what I had to do the past week as my 230 seemed to be sticking with me. There is also a challenge this week to consume no trans fats and 25 or less grams of saturated fat. That may help too. Good luck and you are doing great.

Erna; you have done well to lose so much. I hope I can say that this time next year. I usually lose weight when I lose a man! But am trying to lose the weight and keep the man this time. It is a slower process this way. Anyway welcome to the group. I have allways wanted to go to alaska, and a great friend of mine just moved there this past summer. Do you love it there? Look foreward to getting to know you better, and keep up the great work. Wonder

Thanks for answering too! It never hurts to advertise either. It sounds like a great group. Hoping to have a new challenge in this group for intake of trans fats and sat fats this month. Spread the word if you think people will be interested.
I know I am now focusing on those two things for a while since I was told the pain in my right side is likely gall stones!! Fat is a big builder of those. So I will try to nip this bit it bud now.
The Holiday to Holiday challenge team is another group I really love here.

Good morning, Team.

I am fairly new to SP and just getting everything set up. Although I joined in July I only became active a couple of weeks ago. I know losing weight will help with my illnesses which is one of the reasons I joined SP. I am 52 and have over 100 pounds to lose. When I first started having HBP I weighed 398 pounds in 2000. I am now down to 278 and want to get down to 150.

I have been married for 28 wonderful years. I have 2 children, no grandchildren yet (3grandcats and 1 grandbird).

I love crafts of all sorts and enjoy learning new things.

I read a lot of medical books and articles on my health issues (Thyroid, HBP, FMS, MPS, PCOS, Asthma, GERD, Migraines, TMJ, Chronic Fatigue,IBS, diverticulitis, etc.)in an effort to keep up to date on the things I can do and what my doctor can offer me. Some of these illnesses I have had since I was a child but were not diagnosed until I was in my 40's. Doctors kept telling me it was all in my head, etc. I have found that I have to remain very pro active in my health or I would never have found out what the problems were and started having some relief from the symptoms. Unfortunately, that is all that can be done for some of the illnesses that I have. But it is a great relief to finally have a name for them and to know that I am not crazy.

God always helps those that help themselves. I believe He put me in possession of the books that I needed to find out what I had because I was willing to put in the effort and not just be lazy and listen to the doctors when I knew they were wrong. Good stewardship involves much, much more than just money.

One of my favorite quotes states "Pain and suffering are not and option, how I respond is!" This is so true. I can either let it run over me or I can stand up and fight. I have chosen to fight and hope that the encouragement that this team offers each other will help me continue to fight the good fight.

Well I am not new to the team but I am recently a new co leader with Rene54 and Siera3521. So I wanted to introduce myself to the grand group. I actually read through many of the introductions and we have a divers and wonderful group here.
A little about me, I am a happily divorced single mother(now) of just one, I have one young angel in heaven who left at 12 years old. It was after his loss that this round of weight problems began. I am healing from the loss and healing from the resulting depression as well. Now the challenge of weight loss and what bettter way to lose than in the company of so many others on this same road to healthier stronger bodies. Hello all! My name is Kat. I'm back on sparks...again. Signed up in may of 2006 but started up in june of 2006. I didn't last long, only 13lbs down and about 2-3 months before stopping my plan. I did come in to check on people but that was it. I can't find a 06 class and I can't find a class that runs from July 15-whatever so I'm here! I'm setting up monthly short goals and hopefully I will hit 110lbs sometime next year!

I started in SP almost a month ago and I loooove it. Im trying to lose 50 pounds (25kg aprox). I went back to excercise with the Curves system (left it 1 year ago)and tomorrow is the day for me to go up in the scale, feel little nervous. I would like to have some support, you know, when you share some feelings its easear to go up the mountain (of 50 punds).
Would like to know how do you do your page where you can see your initial weight and with some colourful characters u can see your loses. Heeeelp!!! emoticon

Gabrielle, this should work better for you since you are not deprived of anything. You just stay within your calorie range. You can have most anything as long as you allow for it in your calorie range. I now love fruit more for snacks than anything else where I used to eat a lot of candy, ice cream, cake, cookies, etc. I rarely have cake or cookies, and I have substituted the ice cream with Blue Bunny Fudge Lites which only have 35 calories each. I occasionally have a piece or two of candy, usually mints. I do count all the calories though.

I too feel like I am starting over, although I didn't belong to this site. About 2 years ago I lost close to 20 pounds on the south beach diet but unfortunately I gradually gained it all back plus a couple of pounds. This time I am hoping to do it slower and with more of a plan I can live with.

Danielle, I do hope SP works out for you this time. I hope that you can stick to your plan. SP is the best site for you to do that. There are a lot of new people on this team that could probably use your support as well as help you. Hi everyone!! If you visit my Spark page, you'll notice that my actual start date does not really correspond with this class.

I originally joined Spark under a different name in February of 2006...was active for a few months, then let it all slip away when I got stressed out over moving to a new state & starting law school.

I joined under this name in November of 2006, and I was active for a few weeks (I know!), motivated by the fact I had to stand up in my cousin's wedding in June of 2007. That plan didn't stick either.

I "reactivated" July 8th, and I immediately joined a group that is doing the coolrunning.com "Couch to 5K" program. I feel like I've actually laid out a plan that I'll stick to this time. Three weeks in, and it's so far, so good.

So anyway, I'm trying to reach out to more people to both offer support and get support when I need it - I want to reach my goals this time!

Hi, I just found this group. I have about 45 to 50 pounds to lose. I have gradually gained weight over the years until I reached an all time high and decided it was time to do something about it. I have lost weight before but haven't been able to keep it off. I'm hoping this time will be different.

Welcome to SP and to the team. I don't know if you have read the posts below or not, but I suggest that you enter your goals to get an allotted calorie range. Then post all your nutrition, water, and exercise. You can see progress reports of how you are doing. There are lots of good articles on here to read. You might want to join other SparkTeams for more motivation.

Hello, my name Shirley , I started on Tuesday after the Dept decision that we all work together in lose weight for 12 weeks. With being my first week after finding SP I was not as stress about sticky my diet program. The true test will be this morning when we all be weighing in after a week change our lifestyle.

You may want to search for other SparkTeams to join in areas of your interests too.

If you are looking for any kind of help you can go to the COMMUNITY tab, click on Message Boards, and there are multiple areas there. If you are looking specifically for help there is a section called GET HELP HERE that is by category. You might look at the topics and see if what you are looking for is there, if not, create a new topic. Someone will be answering you, either another member, or an expert.

This particular team is mostly just those who joined the week of 7/8-7/14. The Community Message Boards are for the entire SparkPeople community so many more people may be reading them.

It is amazing the things that people end up having in common. My thyroid was removed in 2006.
emoticon a few more people and we'll need a secret hand-shake. LOL

Being without a thyroid does present specific challenges in terms of energy levels, but we have already taken the first steps. As we adjust our dietary intake, we have to remember that we need extra calcium for bone health (b/c the parathyroid glands were also removed - in most cases).

As a newbie Sparker, I look forward to getting to know you all better as we support and encourage each other.

Hi Mirela,

I'm actually excited to meet you...We actually have a couple things in common. I am also thyroidless. I had mine removed in 1999...what a year that was.

I'm divorced. I know how hard that is by myself...I don't have kids...I now have a wonderful loving suppostive boyfriend, 2 horses and 2 Dogs...they are really my kids and I don't know what I would ever do with out them.

Not having a thyroid makes it very easy for me to put on the pounds...and to feel sluggish and crappy and I discovered already that the more I move...and lift weights and eat better the much better I feel...as well as look.

Anyway, I look forward to chatting with you!

Hi,I am Mirela and I live in Indianapolis. I am originally from Bucharest, Romania. I just found and joined this site a week ago, today . I tend to be hard on myself, and pushing too much. I don't have a thyroid, and that makes things more challenging for me. I have a daughter,12 years old, and I am currently going through a divorce..
The one concern I have, is for me not to get carried away with focusing on the WEIGHT, since that, in my case includes quite some muscles.And rather focus on the overall state of well being , and on the size.

I have already began to become aware of the caloric amount I consume daily, and I don't want to go to the anorexic extreme where I look at the food and be scared of it.
I am glad to be here, and I still need to learn to go thru the team discussion. Do we choose which forum? Are the forums and topic for our group only?

I feel like I am the last among all of you here, in terms of my "healthy accomplishments"

Hi I'm Celeste. I'm 35, from Annapolis, Md.

I'm not new to exercise...but I had some life changes that helped me put on about 50 of the 107 that I lost about 10 yrs ago.

I had been hitting and missing on exercise and not making myself just do it like I had in the past.

this January...I made a promise to myself to get off my but and exercise. So, I got out my exercise videos and equipment and got busy...I've been working out 6-7 days a week and I feel GREAT, but I wasn't losing the lbs, as a matter a fact, I gained about 15...some of that is muscle but I'm not going to kid myself...there's a lot of fat there too.

I was on my exercise furum and someone began talking about sparkpeople and I had to check it out and I've been hooked since.

I look forward to meeting everyone and sharing the experience. I'm finding that it's much easier to do this among friends than by myself.

Hi guys!

I wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself.
I'm Jen, am 28 years old and from Utah. I'm a newer member of this site, but have been working on losing weight since October of 2006 using the Fat Smash diet. My weight loss had stopped completely, so I knew I had to do something else.

Thanks to this site, I'm exercising a lot more, focusing on each bite of food I put into my mouth, and am seeing results. Yeah, this thing might just work!
