Welcome to the team. The name says it all. We just have to be feed up with being the "Fat Girl." They are right when they say it's a choice. Yes, there are easy choices like going to work but then there your eating and exercise choices. There seems to be a little voice in your mind that says "what is it going to hurt if you just have a little slice of pizza?" or "why not do your exercises later, you need to take a break? These are the times that you should go to the mirror and tell yourself that your done with it and get moving to a healthier you. Don't get me wrong this doesn't always work when that last piece of pie is staring you in the face. Then you just have to realize that mistakes are going to be made in this phase and tomorrow is a new day! Just get back up and do it!

Thank you to everyone that responded with such warm welcomes and inspiring advice so quickly! I needed it today, this is why I love Sparkpeople. I am so glad I logged in today even though I was not feeling up to it! I can't count the number of time I've felt sorry about myself, came onto Spark, looked at the motivational pages and realized ... I CAN do this! This is a great group and there are so many great people here that can relate to you and help you get past those hurdles.

Definitely agree with the small step approach. I just came back on here from a short (but very unhealthy) hiatus and I am taking the small steps back onto the healthy life. Good Luck to you!

Ladies you may not like what I have to say, but I'm going to share something with you that I told one of my spark friends a week ago.

It's all about choice. You can either choose to be the best you you can be...or not. We wake up every day perhaps driven by our desires somewhat but in the end, it's ALL about CHOICE. The power to choose the right foods and choose to exercise is in your hands. You have the tools here at your disposal so you know what you have to do.

You can't be a victim of your circumstances...you have to take control and just do it. To lend you some perspective, this advice is coming from the girl who before now never exercised, spent her life eating whatever she wanted, had a life long love affair with food, claimed not to have a shred of willpower, is fighting a long list of medical issues and has still managed to lose 50 lbs since the first of January. It didn't happen on it's own. It happened because I CHOSE to eat better and because I CHOSE to exercise. Don't get me wrong-there have been moments I have been derailed, but it's a matter of knowing that one mistake doesn't have the power to take away my ability to reach my goals. It is a matter of knowing that every new meal and every new day is another opportunity to make the right choices.

So you had a bad morning-that's no reason to have a bad rest of the day AND when you wake up tomorrow remember how crappy you felt after eating this way today and maybe that wil help start you off on the right foot and CHOOSE to do and be your best.

Come on now ladies...you can do it!! The power is in your hands and above all, the CHOICE is yours...

You guys can do this. Know that you too can be the motivational women that you've seen here. Just try each day to take that positive step forward. If each day is too much...break it down even further than that. Small baby steps over time and you can make it.

Congrats for your first positive steps...joining SP, seeking out motivational spark pages, finding this team, and posting/reading here. All lots of positive small steps. Now take the next small step....and the next and the next...

Melissa - you must be my long lost twin. I am in the same boat. I keep coming here wanting to find motivation, but yet doing nothing to change my life.

I too need to find my focus and joined this group a few weeks ago. But I still haven't done much more than visit and read.

Hey Ladies,

I woke up today, and started yet another day off on the wrong foot. I have been fooling around with food (my favorite affair) off and on for two weeks now. I haven't ran, I haven't tracked, and I haven't blogged. I'm so full I feel sick and it's only 11:23am. I was feeling so hopeless and lethargic I decided to go to motivational pages and see if I couldn't get my SPARK back. I stumbled across some remarkable women who are members of this team and I want in!!!!
