Oh wow TerriJo it snowed over there. We just got rain but there is a slight chance for snow coming up this weekend over on this side of the state. I always seems to be crappy on my weekend off....oh well. Will just have to do some indoor spring projects. Congrats also TerriJo on getting into a new wardrobe!! I can't wait to have that happen. My clothes are getting looser so that is a good sign.

This is my weekend. I have WED/THU off this rotation. I spent my Saturday running errands. For my Sunday I plan to weed the clothes that are too big for me out of my closet and drawers to make room for my new summer wardrobe. Since it snowed here tonight I'm wondering if I'll ever get to wear any of those new clothes!

Hi Julie ... Welcome to the team. It's nice to hear from you. Maybe we'll run in to each other at an APCO Conference or some other training in ND.

Hi-
I too am from ND I dispatch for Richland County which is based in Wahpeton. There are 11 of us in our department all together. We dispatch for the city, county and the college in town. I mostly work day shifts which for the 12 hour days is from 6am - 6pm. But this way we only work 4 days a week which is awesome!! I have only been dispatching for about 2 years but think I have found my niche for now. :) I have been somersizing on and off for about 5 years now. The first time I did I lost 73 lbs but all but 20 of those pounds found there way back to me over the last 3 years. :( I am also getting married in 3 months and have an 8 yo son.
Looking forward to talking w/ all of you!
Julie

Greetings from the great frozen north. I work in a relatively small call center. We have 12 dispatchers, four per shift, with a minimum of two on duty at a time. We answer 9-1-1 as well as administrative lines, enter and remove things from NCIC (I love the challenge), send all the TTY messages for the department, and enter a variety of paper work the officers hand us ... CCWs (Citizen Contact Warnings), tow tags, impound paperwork, etc. We are based at the police department in Minot but are responsible for dispatching all the emergency resources in the county ... city as well as rural fire departments, five police departments, the sheriff's deputies and all the ambulance services in the county (volunteer departments as well as the one full time service in the county). I love this job. I started dispatching 13 years ago when I retired from the Air Force. The last couple years have been difficult because we stopped rotating shifts and were assigned to permanent shifts. I got swings (1600 - 2400) which was my favorite shift when we rotated, but is the shift I wanted least for a permanent shift. It is hard to have any kind of family or social life with these hours. I just thank my lucky stars there is a liberal visitation policy in the comm center. My husband and son pop in every once in a while for a quick visit, and the patrol Lt. is good about letting me take a couple hours here and there to keep up with my activities in Boy Scouts. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and supporting you through your dispatch and diet dilemmas.
