thanks for the welcome....I know what you mean about being "just fine" I was the same way. Then it seems like all of a sudden things are popping up! So yes, I decided i want to do what I can with diet and exercise to keep things in the right direction. What's on the scale is just a number. I really believe that. Just because someone is thin doesn't mean they are healthy. I will say that I started wearing glasses about 9 years ago and the last 2 years my eyes have been getting better! I just saw my optometrist last week and was told I can even have "must wear corrective lenses" taken of my license! WOOHOO!

Just remember..........one day at a time;-)

Welcome to the team! It's so nice to see some new interest. Maybe we can get this place rocking again before too long.

Ref blood pressure, this past year has been one big huge wake up call. Never wore glasses before, never had high blood pressure before, never been diagnosed with sleep apnea before, and never been diagnosed with thyroid problems before. A year ago I thought I was just "fine". So, a word of advise, do what you can now to avoid having to take all the meds and such that I have to now. I've managed to turn some of my numbers in the right direction with diet and exercise, however I never really lost any weight. But, heck, I figure the medical lab results mean more than the scale.

Hello Everyone! My name is Jamie. I just found this team. I have been on SparkPeople for over 3 years now. I have been in Law Enforcement for 9 years and a Public Safety Dispatcher for 1.5 years. I didn't really start getting serious about losing weight until this past April when my doctor wanted to put me on high blood pressure medication. I asked for the chance to lower it on my own through diet and exercise (I hate taking pills) she agreed and here I am. I look forward to participating in the challenges and getting to know all of you.
