When I retired I moved to Bellflower. CA where my only daughter lives. I am now officially spoiling my two granddaughters ages 7 and 5. I still miss dispatching apparently it has changed alot since I left. But when I think about all the changes I observed in 23 1/2 years I know how fast it does change.

That is AWESOME that you dispatched there. I dispatched for Idaho State Police out of Meridian for 2 1/2 years. At the time I dispatched we were only in charge of Region's 3 & 4. BUT now that center is in charge of All of Southern Idaho. Pretty amazing down there. I miss it a lot. Do you still live down there?

I dispatched for Bonneville County/Idaho Falls for 23 1/2 years liked being a dispatcher but did not like being a supervisor.

Nice to see some activity on this site. I worked as a 911 dispatcher in Idaho for 23 1/2 years and have been retired for about 9 years now. For a while I really missed the work, despite the fact that I was probably totally burned out on the job. I used to think that if you were inclined to gain weight that shift work aggravated it.

Welcome!! It's awesome to see someone with so much enthusiasm!!! This group seems to go in spurts. We get chatty for a while, then it's hard to get anyone to post. I just returned to work after 6 weeks of sick leave. It feels so good to be back out and productive.

Feel free to mail me or post on the boards here. I'd be more than happy to have help livening up the place!!

Speaking of Washington, I used to have a friend in Vancouver BC, so I've spent a bit of time in the Seattle to Vancouver area. I so miss it. I'm not sure what part of the state you are from, but the trips out there were the best. I've been trying to get my husband out there for years, and it just doesn't happen. We ride ATV's, so we tend to go where the riding is good..... A friend and drove around the Olympic Peninsula one year, in the winter, I couldn't believe the ferns, growing green and sticking out of the snow. It was the weirdest thing to me. Another time I went, I was walking some trails at Mt St Helens, and I saw the BIGGEST SNAIL ever. You guys grow them suckers big up there, that was so messed up. I screamed and ran away, then I crept up on it, and saw what it was, then just studied the thing for a while. Thank goodness we don't have bugs that big here.

Welcome to the group!! Things have been rather quiet here for some time, but we are trying to change that. I've been a dispatcher for over 30 years and I can relate to the shift work and weight gain. I suppose if you were to take into consideration all the different diet plans I have tried, my lowest weight and my highest, I'm about in the middle right now but would sure love to see the underside of 200! Spent one of the most enjoyable weeks of my life while on vacation in Washington about 12 years ago. Would sure love to go back someday. Again welcome to the group and feel free to post or email any time you have questions or just need to chat or vent!!!

Hi All! My name is Heidi. I work for Whitcom 911 in Pullman, WA. I have been a 911 dispatcher for almost 3 years and a dispatcher over all for 5 1/2 years. I LOVE my job. But the one thing I have noticed is in the last 5 1/2 years I have gained almost 100lbs. It is really making me want to just crawl under a rock and hide. In the last 6-7 months I have had a few health scares. Most recently my hip is starting to hurt almost all the time and I am having trouble placing any significant weight on that side.

A little about me. I will be 30 in a little over 2 weeks. I have one dog and one cat. My dog is even a little on the heavier side. So she is going to be going on a Doggy diet. I love to read, knit and work in my yard. As you all know this job is very demanding. So in my free time anything that entails as little decision making as possible is what I love to do.

WITH all that being said I have decided it is TIME TO CHANGE!!!!! emoticon

I am new to Sparkpeople. But I am hoping to reach out to some fellow dispatchers who know what the job of a Dispatcher entails. I am currently on Graveyard shift. I work 5-5 Saturday-Tuesday. I don't want to sound like I am begging but I would REALLY love to make some friends on here and be able to get a chat regularly and get interacting. I know I can do this but I really need some support.

THANKS!!!
