You can do it!! I find it easier if I get through "meal time" then on to the next "meal" whether eating or not.

And remember - no snacking!!

i started 18-6 this week tues is a luncheon so eat at 1pm stop at 5 and go 24 hours I hope not sure what this can do.
eating at 1 is my first. I usually wait until at least 5pm
this is an opportunity for me to see what 24 will do

Thanks so much for the explanation. I am going to investigate this further.

I'd like to use my fasting time to increase my Spiritual Growth. So much better than eating and increasing my " body growth". hehehe

Hugs, Sunny

The numbers refer to the amount of time you are fasting / and eating.

18/6 - 18 hours of fasting (like from 6 pm - 12 pm the next day - essentially eating lunch and dinner and skipping breakfast) and 19/5 like from 2-7 (where you have two meals spaced out in a 5 hours interval).

The science behind this is that when your body is not digesting food all the time, it has time to make the repairs it needs to. In addition, your digestion is not working non-stop, therefore your insulin is not going up as often. Your insulin goes up when you eat, and insulin is a fat storage hormone, and you can't burn fat and store fat at the same time.

There are many You Tube videos out there explaining this that are much more adept at the technical details. Dr. Jason Fung, Dietdoctor.com, there are lots of resources which can give you more of the "how it works". Also - "The Obesity Code" by Dr. Jason Fung is a wonderful book. Also "The Complete Guide to Fasting" by Dr. Fung and Jimmy Moore is excellent as well.

It's very easy to do - and for me, takes the burden off of always eating. It is not necessary to do it in conjunction with a low carb/keto diet, but many do.

Explain the 18/6 and 19/5 please.

DH has been reading about Fasting and he wants to try it.

Thanks, Sunny

Had read speakers mentions of fasting but thought it wasn't for me. Then the first week of May due to "life" and some changes to routines found I was actually doing 18/6!! So I got Dr.Herring's A.C. Book to check out, and here I am three weeks later down at least 3 pounds and using 18/6 or 19/5 and feeling great. Not really worrying about Keto, carbs or calories but am tracking mostly to keep an eye on nutrients. Glad to be here
