Hello LYDIA_T

I am 5'1" and I have about 10 - 15 pounds to lose yet. I had been struggling a long time to lose weight. I have been on spark People for many years and have worked my way through many groups and different kinds of food plans. Until I found KETO.
For the last three years I followed KETO and did lose 30 pounds but then I stalled. I found that eating low carb was the best way to lose weight for me and I wish I had known about this a long time ago. I have recently found this group and I am trying to do IF as a way of life.

I share with you the habit of late night snacking. It does not matter how much I eat all day or at dinner I want to eat at night. This has been my biggest problem. I have conquered most of it now but occasionally I do snack - but no way near what I use to eat after dinner.

When i feel like I can't control it I eat something that will not derail me from my food plan. I eat Dill pickles or a hard boiled egg to get past the craving for a snack. Most recently I have been having one Premier protein shake as a dessert "snack".

I do a combination of IF. 18:6 most days and OMAD occasionally.
Good luck with IF.

I am also 5'2" but I still have about 100 lbs to lose -- currently about 80 lbs below my highest weight.

I try to close my kitchen at 6:00 in the evening so there is no opportunity to snack after that.

My main motivation is my health -- I am 76 years old and plan to be around and healthy for many more years. I wish I had known what I know now when I was in my 30s and 40s. It would have been easier then but I was still eating all the wrong things while dieting and not making much headway. Eating right for our own bodies is so much more enjoyable.

One of the main things that we have to remember is bio-individuality -- every one is different -- what works for one person doesn't work for others. We have to find what works for us as individuals not try to stuff ourselves into someone else's plan.

We are here to help but you do have to find your own plan.

Welcome. 5:3.5 and at a minimum of 20 pounds to lose. Probably should be 50 more pounds.

I do better with an early window most days, then the night time snacking isn't an option (it's a mind game)

Welcome Lydia!!

I am also 5'2" - still trying to get the last 10-15 off. I have been keto for 2 years - now trying a more modified but still low carb way of eating (more protein, less fat, moderate carbs).

Snacking late at night is a habit that can be overcome - practice, practice, practice. Maybe make a deal with yourself - if you don't eat past ____ pm, you get to _____.

I have an occasional glass of wine - but like a REALLY cold beer when it's REALLY hot outside. I live in Texas - and it's going to be 107 on Sunday, so that might happen!

To get through the struggle - find what motivates you. For me - I'm going to Hawaii in 6 weeks to see DH and I have some really cute clothes I want to be a little looser on me. Some skorts, a few new swimming suits - and I do have to admit it's easier when I'm only cooking for myself. Hope that helps!

Hi,

I am new to SparkPeople. I am 42 years old, 5 ft 2 inches and have a goal to lose 20 pounds. Majority of my weight is in the middle. I've tried Intermittent Fasting (back in March) and it was helping. Then, quarantine hit and everything went down hill from there. Unfortunately, I enjoy eating carbs and an occasional beer with my friends here and there. I have also found that I snack late at night. I'm interested in learning what has helped you get through your struggles of wanting to eat junk and just looking for motivation overall.

Thanks.
