Hi & welcome!
Being a nurse, you know that you need to get the excess weight off & do the exercise. I learned the hard way what happens if you don't...I had triple by pass in 1995. I was going to do things right after that. I started off well, then gradually went back to my old bad habits of eating wrong & doing very little exercise. I had a heart attack in 2005 & since then I found Dr. Joel Fuhrman & the Eat to Live way of life, which can reverse diseases. I hope to never go through any of those things again. You can do it, it just takes "wanting it"! All the best...

Hi welcome to the team . Glad things went well with the bypass . Last year I had a catheter done found 3 problem areas that were less then 50% clogged so they did nothing had my first heart attack in July . I am just starting to exercise again for shoulder surgery that I had . Like you I have to modify the exercises so not to further complicate things . Go slow you can do it .

Hi! I'm catladyx8 or as some Sparkers call me, "Cat." My "real" name is Susan. I am looking for a team that will help support me on my long road/journey to living a healthy lifestyle. On July 31, 2014, just 20 weeks ago. I underwent a double by-pass for blocked coronary arteries. In the spring I began having chest pains with minimal exertion and as many people do, I put off having it checked out, making excuses. Of course I know better. I am a disabled RN and have a very strong family history of heart disease. My dad died in Sept. 1996 after having his 5th open heart surgery. All his family died of heart disease and had by-pass surgery. My 42 year old brother died in 1995 with a heart attack. My oldest brother had a stent for a 96% blockage. my mom had by-pass surgery in 2004. So, it is a real big problem for my family. I have had diabetes, Type 1, since 1997 as well as high blood pressure. Matter-of-fact I have all the risk factors except drinking and smoking!!! So, it was only a matter of time. I finally had a cardiac catherterization on July 25th and the doc found several vessels with blockages. I was thoroughly expecting to have stents placed, but alas, that was not the outcome. the doc said I needed triple or quadruple by-pass!!! What? I was in shock. Not me, I thought. So on the 31st of July I had my surgery. Only by the grace of God did I end up with just a double by-pass and my recovery was supernatural. Now, I need help in developing and sticking to a healthy lifestyle. I need the support, encouragement and swift kicks in the behind parts when necessary to get with the program. Can you help me????? Exercise is a word I avoid using. I hate it, bur I also know that is one of the, important, ways to keep these new vessels open and slow down the process of more blockages occurring. I have a really great but often sick sense of humor. that comes from being a nurse! I am also a big believer in God and HIs ability to see me through anything. I love animals and have 8 cats all adopted or strays and an awesome dog, named Boone.
