We voted and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll was chosen for the month of May. Hopefully those of us who depend on the library for books will be able to get them soon. I know I make a lot of my choices for the Popsugar challenge based on what I can get from the library.

I understand that many things are closed but hopefully opening soon.
If we do select a book I suggest The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh

April Showers Bring May Flowers is my inspiration
It doesn't seem to be very popular in the different groups I am involved in so maybe we can all get a copy easily, at least no one is talking about it.

Description can be found at link below

I just recently read Where the Crawdads sing--loved it. But I had to wait a long time to get that on Ereader. I started like in 200's on wait list and that was before the pandemic. So that might be a little difficult to get for some folks. I can go with rereading a classic

Read Where the Crawdads Sing for a local library bookgroup. That was one of our most lively conversations in a while. So, that one would be ok with me.

Even if libraries are closed, some offer Libby or Overdrive so could still checkout books for your e-reader.

Classics might be a good way to go. A lot are available all the time. Definitely a good one to add to the list. Thank you.

Hi Bookclub-sparkies! How ya's doing? New member here, so not sure on how the usual format works. One of the books I've started reading is "Alice In Wonderland" (Lewis Carroll), it's a fun read so far! I'd recommend it to anyone that has been wanting to read, or re-read it from childhood, as some light entertainment for May, cheers! Happy Sparkin'!

I am just finishing up Where the Crawdads Sing. It is a very engaging book! I would be happy to discuss it in May, if that is our choice.

But I am happy to do a free choice as well. I have been reading ebooks through the library, and am surprised at how much I like this format that, in the past, I have shunned...

We had 2 books suggested for April. I can move those to a May voting post. How about any quick suggestions to this thread through Monday and I can open a voting thread Tuesday?

The suggestions for April were: The Overdue Life of Amy Byler and WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING by Delia Owens

We haven't heard anything about reopening here other than they will let us know when they know. We do have access to e-books through our library, though. If it's not too new, we might be able to coordinate a book that would be available on at least most library e-book lists maybe? I'm not terribly e-book savvy myself, but I'm happy to try and find whichever one we settle on if we do end up suggesting/voting.

Looking for ideas about May's book. Do we have another "free choice" month? Do we try to take suggestions and vote? I know my town library will be closed until at least May 4th.
