It is your house, after all. He'll get over it. Just remind him to pack up or put away stuff he wants to keep.

Oh, his friends had the best time with that couch. But I paid a price with him. Man was he upset. It was kind of funny. I had to hear about it 2 weekends in a row. He said he and his friends loved that couch and it meant a lot to them and now it's gone. He would have moved it to his dad's if he had known I wanted to get rid of it. I am on notice not to get rid of anything else without asking.

Now that I have the new man cave set up, we both like it and I think he likes the new couch better. I just think he misses the old couch because of the memories. There were times I would come home and there would be like 20 boys sitting around in my basement watching videos and hanging out. The whole dang football team has been here. That's all changed now that they graduated in May and will probably never be the same. I just did it too fast and should have considered he may have a connection to the couch, his friends and Sr year. Sure wish I had taken pictures of all those boys at times sitting around down there. It was a sight I know I may never see again. I asked him if he had photos, he said he had some videos of goofy stuff they would do, but no photos. I will have to ask the other guys and see if I can gather some photos. Maybe I could frame some and put them up down there. They would love that I'm sure.
I set up the new "man cave" so that I can use it as a hang out too. He has a projector and I had him set it up down there for me so I can go down there and watch football on the big screen. Also, I wanted a place I would be more comfortable going during tornado warnings.
I'm very pleased with the way it's coming along.
Gearing up to start back on kitchen...sheesh!

Thanks TERRIJ7 for your welcome and the compliments. I have a lot to do!

LECATES thanks for checking out my photos and my page.

Over the weekend I worked in my son's "man cave' in the basement. He had a sectional w/sleeper down there and a couple of weeks ago I started cleaning down there and that sectional had to go. He was working on the farm, so I got some of his friends to come get it. They were having a bon fire that night and took care of it for me in proper fashion and had fun doing it. Anyway, I got a new couch, futon and bar table w/chairs for down there. I like it much better.
Thank you all for the compliments and support

Loved the pictures and made comments. Totally get the need to do something to that paneling---looks so dark in there. Great job on the porch and your gardens.

Hi Beda! My DIL paints everything and would doubtless paint your paneled kitchen cabinets until she could afford to get what she wants. That's too bad about the paneling being glued on, but I guess it's not surprising. If you can paint a mural to match your dishes, I'm super impressed! You must be quite talented. I hear you on the outdoor living. That's exactly how I would have been. Clean up my outside space first and do house stuff when I have to.

I'll have to go to your page and check out the pics. Barb already gave you good tips on how to edit things.

Hi Beda, I've been there on being single and remodelling but your project is way bigger!. I also look for lots of stuff at Habitat Restore. How good it is depends on the area. It requires frequent checking. I see a lot of used kitchens from people who want a more upscale kitchen in the new to them homes.
Regarding the photos, make sure they are smaller in size, like email size otherwise they won't upload. SP isn't meant a a photo sharing site. It's a RockStar for calculating Nutrition for a recipe or for tracking your food. Photos must be added to each topic, blog entry etc. I used to be that only 50 photos could be posted to the Gallery. The Banner is new too since I last changed my Spark Page. I just added a photo. I positioned it and shrunk the same way I do in my photo editing pgm. Go to your Spark Page. You'll find the Photos tab there. It's pretty clear. That's where it might be best to share photos instead of multiple postings to different teams' topics. Give the link to your Photo Gallery. You'll have to edit the gallery to change the order so you have the new ones at the top (I think - haven't updated mine in ages). Use the link tab at the top when you are editing a message. They will be added to the bottom so you may need to cut and paste to have them to the place in your post that you want them.

I had thought about the Restore store for a door in the basement, but didn't think of cabinets. And I know they have them there. Thanks. I will look into that.
I am having issues with uploading photos here. Funny, because I work for an internet provider, help people with internet and computer issues all day and I am a photographer so I upload a lot of photos, but I seem to be photo challenged on this website. Last night I uploaded several pictures, I thought to my page, but went on community feed. Everyone was very gracious about it and I appreciate that. Anyway, today I uploaded photos to my page thinking I could share them over to my teams when I'm discussing stuff, but can't figure that out aaannnddd I uploaded a photo to my banner and it centered on a view in the middle of the picture and looks disturbing, but I can't fix it, nor will it allow me to change it. It gives me a button to change banner, but when I click on it, it shows the edited part of the photo strip, with the editing features active....I know this isn't the feed for this problem, but I got started and my frustration is coming out. Gotta go eat a twinkie! JK! But I really would like to know why the photo stuff is so hard here. And my phone app, forget it! The only way I could figure out how to upload photos from there was to load as my profile and keep going and changing my profile pic back. Hopefully, all of that didn't go to community feed. Everyone here will think I'm a whackadoodle.
I got started on that to say I have a photo of my kitchen in my gallery. It would be here, but...... emoticon

Smart to do it in stages as you can afford it. Have you priced companies that resurface cabinets? Do you have a Restore store in your area? Measure yours and see if you can replace them. Some cabinets could have doors removed and left open, esp. If you repaint the inside. Painting paneling isn't that bad. We did that at one of our son's house. But you do need to paint them with a primer first. Looking forward to hearing more about this and hope you take before and after.

I bought a new home almost 2.5 yrs ago and I have a lot of remodeling and projects to do. Since it's just me, I am going to take my time and not get stressed or overwhelmed with it. So far I have painted the living room walls and ceiling and pretty much have my living room together. When I first moved, I worried more about moving my flowerbeds from my old house and cleaning the 25 x 16 foot back porch up, than I did the interior of the house. I also had to paint the exterior for the loan to go through, so interior remodel didn't get done before moving. That's ok, because I practically live on my back porch anyway.
The next room I intend to tackle is the kitchen. It was remodeled in the 70's and guess what? It is completely paneled, even the cabinets were handmade out of paneling. The old dude did good work, but paneling? Ugh! I've got some ideas how to work with it and no money. So must be on the cheap. I've already pulled off some of the paneling hoping I could just paint the sheetrock behind, but no, they had used liquid nail to help adhere the paneling as well as finishing nails. So for now, planning to replace the sheetrock on the walls and then just paint a glossy white and then I intend on painting a mural to match my dishes on the main wall. I'm still pondering the cabinets.
