Chris, is he curled up in a half empty box of water bottles or some such thing? My Jade used to do that kind of thing, too---but lately I just empty those boxes into a laundry basket---easier to access and at least looks better in my kitchen and easier to move it when I sweep or wash the floor. They are so funny about finding those kind of places to get.
Terri, you did the right thing---and kudos that that girl grew up to realize that kids need some structure.
Michael came by and gave dh a new bigger TV and hooked it up to use his Disney, Netflick, HBO, and a movie channel. And he took the one we had in the living room back to his house to use there---at least it is out of my hair---LOL---then he took us out to lunch at Texas Roadhouse.. I didn't have to cook anything but the cake yesterday and Dh let me freeze half of it for another time.

i agree, if i open a shirt to look at it I fold it back up put clothes back on the rack. I work at Hobby Lobby custom frame dept. People make a mess of everything and just leave it , or they allow their kids to run wild and open and play with all the toys. I would rather people say to the cashier I've decided I don't want this and give it back to the cashier so we can put it back than them just leaving it in random places. I drives me nuts when they just make a mess and leave it.

thought you might want to see what my puke face looks like . He is a siamese blue point and he is 21 years old .

Chris, I've always told my kids to put things back where they found them if they decide not buy them. I haven't worked in Retail, but in restaurants and it's a huge pet peeve of mine to have someone make messes for other people to clean up. Messes will happen, but to just be careless or inconsiderate is RUDE and inexcusable. I even made a little friend of DD3 take her items back when she laid a whole armload of clothes down in some random place. She said, "That's what the employees are hired for. I'm just giving them something to do..." I gave her the "Mom glare" and told her pick them up and put every one of them back on the rack where she'd found them. My dd was embarrassed that I scolded her friend, but that's tough. I'm everybody's mom when they're with me. Ha! Maybe that's why DD didn't want to bring her friends home with her very often--maybe they were all brats. LOL Actually, that same friend is now a wife and mother of 4 little boys and she's good friend of mine. She has thanked me for my input in her youth because she didn't get that at home and is parenting her boys very differently than she was parented.

long day at work yesterday, working retail during the holidays is a real pain! People make a mess of things and drop stuff all over the store it took us 2 hours to straighten things up.

Going to a retirement seminar this morning about protecting your assets, looking forward to it

Beda, hope the weather cooperates. It is going to be very windy here today so not really good for being outside. But I have a lot I need to get done in the house, plus it is my dh's birthday so I need to bake.
Chris, i have 2 that throw up ---and they don't have old age to fall back on! It is so annoying!
Terri, woohoo for getting some help with the cutting and pinning.
Survived the bowling with the kids yesterday. I only bowled one game though. Shoes hurt! Need to start cleaning for Christmas decorating.

Yuck to the pukey cat!

I got a surprise visit from DD1 and her DD4 today. She matched fabrics and cut out some aprons for me today and now all I have to do is sew them up. She's so good at putting colors and patterns together, and all the pinning and cutting time consuming, so I really appreciated the jumpstart.

I have more cat puke to clean up.....it is never ending, Taz is 21 years old so I guess I have to forgive him, and it does clean up easy.... I have started to call him puke face!! Funny thing is when I point at it and ask him what did you do he puts his head down and walks away from me. So he sure knows!!

Chris-loving the driving stories. It's funny how people forget to drive in bad weather.

Haven't done much more with house at this time. Work is so consuming that I just don't have the energy once I get home. I did buy some bright red curtain panels to put up as more accent in my living room. I love them and they look very cheerful.

Weather is taking a turn for warmer temps this coming week. WooHoo, looking forward to getting more winterization done outside and in the house. Need to get up some insulation in basement, priority no.1.

Have a beautiful day ladies!

My grandmother stopped driving at night around my age, but the daytime was fine until she turned 90 when she decided no more----but she only drove short distances at that time. I agree that is would make one feel isolated. That is why they don't want to give it up but it has to happen for some. Thankfully I do live in the small city now and could call for a cab if needed plus the local Mac Center does provide a bus service for clients to get there. If I lived in the country where we used to, there would not be those options.
Taking the kids bowling today---thinking I best wear my braces on both knees today.

my Mom is 86 and doesn't like driving by herself any more at night. She is still a safe driver, I let her drive now and then to check on her. I do not let her drive for long distances, I'll do that for her

Even though I don't drive as often or as much as I used to, I would be utterly isolated if I couldn't drive myself. It would be a huge change in an otherwise independent person's lifestyle, albeit a necessary one if the person wasn't safe behind the wheel--especially on OUR roads! It would be important for the family to step up and do the driving for her once they'd taken her keys away. Our Aunt D gave up her car after her brain surgery and is happy not to have the expense of it now, but she lives in town and has a bus stop right outside her apartment building and can also call a taxi if she needs to go to the doctor and doesn't want to bother a family member. My mother has stopped driving at night altogether because she just doesn't see well enough, but daytime isn't a problem. She also lives in a big town where she could call a taxi if a friend weren't available to help if she needed to go out at night.

It's certainly something to think about.

Even with being older, I think older people should have a road test every few years---there are a lot who shouldn't be driving anymore but who don't want to give up their freedom. I understand that but I hope I am as smart as my grandmother and take myself off the road when I become unsafe to drive. Family members need to take a ride with their older family members every so often and make decisions from that but a lot won't. My grandmother called her best friend's sons and told them to take the keys away from her before she killed herself or someone else. She hated to do that but her friend scared her to death on a ride. Thankfully her family listened to my grandmother.
Going to warm up here to normal temps but starting out pretty cold for us.

Terri, you are like me, I let people pass, I generally go about 5 miles more than posted limit. When I'm on an express way and people are going slower than posted in the left pass lane it annoys me to no end! Get out of my way, I'd rather have stupid behind me than in front of me. All the years of being the passenger watching the driver for hazards that they don't see, I'm very aware of my surroundings on the roads. Believe me when I tell you people are stupid when it comes to driving.
I once told a lady to bring her car around back for her road test, didn't think any thing of it it was 2 right turns to line up. about a half an hour went by and the husband came up to ask about his wife, I said I told her to make 2 right turns and line up behind the car in line.... I kid you not he said oh my god she has alzhimers !!!! she won't know where she is!!! I just looked at him and asked him then why would you bring her for a road test?!?!?! SERIOUSLY!!!!!

Another time I had a senior citizen probably in his 70's and he drove like he wasn't home at all, all over the road running stop signs, so I failed him, his son said to me how could you fail him?!?!? I asked him who drove here, the son said well I did! I told him have your father drive you home! His eyes got huge and I said exactly!!! He was just mad that he now had to take his dad all around.

I could go on and on, like I said people are sometimes clueless and expect those of us that use our heads to overlook their stupid, Sorry that ain't me.

Yep, I know about road rage and have done some dumb things in my younger days--even scared myself by passing when I shouldn't have. I don't do that anymore, but I still get very cranky when people think they need to control the flow of traffic on the roads. I still say, if you're nervous, then take precautions and drive slowly--but get out of the way of others instead of making them line up for miles behind you! Tragedies have happened because of slow drivers simply deciding that they need to set the pace for the rest of the world. My niece was trying to get her dog to the vet in an emergency and a car in front of her slowed down when she came up behind it and then actually BLOCKED her from passing when there was a passing lane. Her dog died in the back of her car from something that the vet had treated him for in the past. My friend was taking her daughter to ER when she had choked on something and had turned blue and there were people who didn't want to move over although they were honking their horn and flashing their lights. Yeah, I get cranky. If there is anyone who wants to drive faster than me, I pull over and let them pass at my earliest opportunity. You never know.

WE JUST have nuts who drive too fast when the roads are slick or unsafe to drive fast---but then we are flat land so no hills or mountains to worry with. Remember when you are getting mad at those drivers that that really is road rage and think how that can escalate into something worse---plus it is not good for your blood pressure---yes, it is maddening but better safe than sorry---and don't tailgate those drivers----I have been in the middle of a multi-car accident and it is not fun at all. Now I leave some room between me and the car in front of me.
Terri, I wore knee braces on both knees and just walked at my own pace---often lagging behind the others---sometimes because of the crowd just moving in front of me or because I was looking at things. Plus I took meds every 6 hours and that helped, too. Plus sitting down when I could. Sitting for shows helped a lot and I had to fold down my knee braces then as it bothered me to sit for too long with the braces on my knees. Honestly, it was the heat that zapped me more than the walking. One day I did do 7 miles but 5 was the norm at Disney for me. Dh sat way too much in the scooter and that did not help his blood sugar numbers. I tried to get him to get out more often but mostly he got out only to go to the bathroom---but he would not have been able to keep up with us otherwise.
We got snow yesterday, but it melted, but the temps have plummeted and it is below freezing here today.

I feel ya, Chris! I hate driving behind timid drivers or sightseers who have nowhere to go and aren't in a hurry to get there. I don't want anyone to drive faster than they feel safe doing, but for Pete's sake, use the turnouts! We've got curvy mountain roads and many people (especially non-locals) are scared of them, but absolutely will NOT pull over to allow traffic to pass. It drives me nuts. Cook or get off the stove!

How many days a week do you work at the frame store? I'm sure you've said before, but I've forgotten.

How are things in your neighborhood, Barb? Staying busy, I suppose. What's your latest project?

I took time during my lunch break today to sort through a drawer of old greeting cards, looking for one to send with a gift. That led to finding a few that I just had to send off to friends--just because. So now I need to run down to the post office and mail the gift and my cards--then back to the sewing room AKA sweatshop to get some more done.

it was a long day yesterday for me at the frame store, did over 5 miles walking putting things away, am tired this morning.

I'm an aware driver, I consider road conditions etc. BUT the people who are "afraid" to drive in snow and ice cause MORE accidents by their stupid driving, because people just want to get around them, and that causes the accidents.

I was almost seriously hurt in an accident because the stupid driver ahead of me slammed on her breaks because a truck pulled out ahead of her about a mile in front of her and I was behind her only doing about 30mph on a very salted road in 40 degree weather !
I couldn't go right as there was a car next to me so I went left into the oncoming left turn lane and almost had a head on collision with a school bus, who thankfully went right and I came to a stop on the median strip. God was with me that day. all BECAUSE someone doesn't know to not slam on there breaks when a truck pulls out a mile ahead of you.
I have NO patience for STUPID drivers! I've had 3 accidents giving road tests that messed my back and knees because of their stupidity

I one told a person to put their right signal on and they put it into reverse and almost hit me! You know..... like R means RIGHT signal!!

I'd tell my mom these stories and she said you should write a book about them, I said NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE ME!!!!

I asked a person what color car they had for the test, so we could identify it when they pulled around for their road test, he looked at me ran off the next thing I knew he drove it right on to the sidewalk right in front of the door so I could see the color...... I"m like what the hell! you just drove here and you don't know if it is red, blue or green??

Do you really want me to continue?? LOLOLOL

Wow--good for Howard! I'm sure you appreciated having that laundry done and things out away, Cathy. Did you tell him? How did his back hold up at Disney? You never mentioned having any trouble or pain, so I'm hoping there was none. I know the heat got to you a little.

I made good progress in the sewing room yesterday and then knitted on a sock while I watched a Netflix before heading to bed (after midnight). Actually, by the time I took a hot shower to warm up, it was after 1:00. That's how it usually is when Steve's gone. I stay up until i can't stay awake any longer and then sleep well. Then I woke up at about 7:00 and couldn't go back to sleep. That's how it goes, but I'm rested and that's what counts.

I'm back to having coffee in the morning and will continue that since I need my mind sharp while I'm sewing. I don't have time for a lot of "do-overs", but will cut back to just a couple in the morning and then I'll switch to hot water. I like to have something to sip on throughout the day, so filling my insulated cup with hot water works well. I don't mind sipping hot water instead of coffee, but I don't want to suffer through the headache and brain fog that I know will come if I quit "cold turkey".

Time to get rolling. Have a great day~

Sorry, Chris, but I would rather see people being cautious in those kind of conditions that racing down the road---those wanting to go the normal speed or faster when the conditions have changed are usually the ones that cause the accidents. Around here, we don't get snow and ice very often so we do not know how to drive on it so they close schools if we get couple of inches of snow here. Just like we have fog delays---many years ago they didn't do that and there was a bad bus accident and the driver was killed and one or 2 kids hurt---now we err on the side of caution and I am very glad for it.
Took a nap when I got home yesterday. Dh had done 3 loads of laundry and gone to the store to buy bread and milk plus he put away some of the stuff still out and washed up the new cups we brought home.

Well, my long weeked with my Prince has come to a close. He's gone back to work for the week and now its just me, the dog and the cat around here. I'm hoping to focus on my Christmas sewing and see how much progress I can make this week.

There's always trouble when the weather first changes, Chris. We live in the mountains, so the steep grades and sharp corners always catch people unaware when they're driving too fast. There definitely is a learning curve when driving in inclement weather.

we are under a winter storm advisory today, and I have to go out because I have a doc appoint and work tonight. So very glad I didn't have to get up early and drive to work this morning, we have people who forget how to drive in snow every year it snows, you don't have to go only 20 mph on a salted clear road!

So glad we went to Legoland. Not so crowded, lots of fascinating creations, and shade and mister fans .
Heading home. So glad we don't have this kind of traffic where we live.

Good use of the coupons.
Magic Kingdom was not fun. Everyone was just too hot and cranky to enjoy it. But we enjoyed our dinner there. Legoland today, then head home to wonderful cool weather.

Wow Chris! You sure scored on those coupons! Bummer about having to reset all the clocks. I wonder what the issue was with the power?

busy day for me yesterday worked, then got a hair cut at JC Penny's where my girl works. Earned a 10 dollar reward so bought 2 tops that were on sale. Then I ordered 2 books from
Half Price Books and was waiting for another to come in before I picked them up, but got coupons in the mail so picked them up got 30% off! and will pick the other one up later this week and get 50% off such a deal!

we lost the power for a couple of hours yesterday, not sure what the problem was, as it was on then off again, my neighbor was keeping me in formed. Glad it wasn't long as the sump pumps are not on back ups. Most everything is up on bricks anyway so not to worried.
I had to reset all the clocks last night

Beda, some people don't think about others and then get offended when they do know they are wrong. Plus jealousy that you have all that space.
There is a city alleyway behind our house that the city has mysteriously gifted it to residents without notifying us and they won't cut down a dead tree. We are the only ones who have kept our section cleared after the city came thru about 8 years ago so it is a jungle along most of it. Don't understand why they are allowed to do these things.
Magic Kingdom today!

What a mess--and what kind of neighbors think they should have access to your property for anything without your permission? Maybe that tree needed to come down, but you should have been consulted at the very least. Once you have confirmed where all your lines are, I'd mark them clearly and put up No Trespassing signs and maybe get a couple of cameras that "watch" that area. No one wants strife with their neighbors, but it kind of reinforces the old saying, "Good fences make good neighbors" doesn't it?

This home I bought is on 5 lots here in town. So my house sits alone between 2 alleyways. My house/garage sits on half the space and I have large open lot to the south which is about half the size of a football field. It's just a flat open lot.
First incident that happened is, I caught the neighbor to the north of the alleyway, backing into the my yard, all the way to my shed, leaving tire ruts. I confronted him and he told me that his property went approx 15' south of alleyway into my yard. That's not what the man told me when I bought this property, so I went to City Hall and found out that the alley to the north is actually part of a lot that was not owned by anyone and there is approx a 15' strip that runs along the alley, that the county decided they weren't getting any property tax from, so they "allotted" this strip to all the neighbors that connect to it. So the 2 neighbors across the alleyway to the north actually own 2 15x15 strips along the alleyway and in the middle of those 2 strips they allotted to the man I bought the house from. He did not have an understanding of what the county did and did not sell that piece of land to me. So 1 of my neighbors to the north works on cars and stuff and has a gated entrance to his yard and garage from the alleyway and he allows people and himself to back into what I thought was my yard. So ok, what am I going to do about it?

After finding this out, I came home from work one day, planning to get my mowing done that evening and found that another neighbor to the north of the alleyway had dropped a tree across the back of my yard, cut it up and left it. I had Big holes in my yard from where limbs penetrated the ground, sawdust everywhere and chunks of tree I couldn't begin to move. I was shocked! I posted pictures on my FB and my sister turned around and posted my pics to local residents discussion page and the owner of the property actually came to my house very indignant that I would start some neighborhood bs because she had allowed a tree company to drop a tree on my property. It was supposed to have all been done in a day and didn't happen but she didn't understand why I had such a problem with it. She was mad at me because my sister made a big deal about it to the community. COMMON COURTESY! I ended up having to run her off my property. I concede the fight for the strip and figure at some point I will put up a privacy fence on that side of the property and they can all "bite me" afterwards.
The property that attaches to my lot to the east was bought by a lawn mowing crew 6 months or so after I moved in. Within a week, I came home from work and found tracks where they were driving in and out of their lot by going through mine. I went straight over and asked him nicely not to drive through my lot and he apologized and assured me he wouldn't do it any more.
Now, about a month ago, someone had all 3 of the lots to the east of my property surveyed and marked their lots. So there is an easement/access between my property and the east properties for utility access and apparently, now, the neighbor directly behind me has decided they are going to start driving straight out through to the access between the yards and someone in the middle of the night came out from their yard with a heavy load of something, maybe a cord of wood and swung out into my lot, leaving horrible ruts and even hit a hole in my yard, where I'm guessing used to be a tree and made it more of a hole than it was.
NO, I did not go and talk to another fricking neighbor about driving through my yard. WTH! It is very obviously not their yard! I just decided the 100' bright, neon, orange, plastic fencing should make my point. I think I am going to get some privacy panels and put up "corners" on my property to signify my property until I can get the entire thing fenced. I just can't believe the audacity of some people.

Beda, unfortunately there are a lot of ride neighbors, especially if they rent. Then they don't seem to care about property lines or damages. Of course not all but maybe you should contact the owner and ask him for repair costs. He might then put a fence up on his property.
Having fun at Disney World!

Got my hoses rolled up and outside spigots taken care of. Straightened up my garage, rearranged lawn mower, weedeater, etc so I can get my van in garage last week before we got our first bout of nasty weather. Hopefully I will be able to get in the flowerbed this coming weekend and get it cleaned up before weather really turns. I still have a blueberry bush to set and I'm hoping I have some blackberry starts to attend to for future bushes.

Had to run a big orange plastic fence along my backyard and across the back of my lot next door. My neighbors decided it was ok to pull through my lot with a very heavy load and left horrible tire tracks in my lot. I do not understand why people think it's ok to drive through others property. This is the 3rd neighbor I have had drive through my lot or yard. I've lived in country most of my life, do city people just think this is ok to do? I mean, it would be a lot closer to the back side of my yard if I went in and out of the neighbor behind me's driveway and yard. Would that be right??? WTH!

It is starting to feel like winter here....move over fall. They are talking snow for this weekend. I hope it misses us. As I finally have a massage apt. lol..a little bit of self care.

Anyone have any goals set? I am doing just water (no tea/coffee, etc.). Drinking wise. My skin is clearing up nice...feeling better to! More energy! :)

Today is DS2's 40th birthday. I remember when I prayed that little boy would survive to adulthood--or at least realize that he's mortal! Now he's the father of 4 and still goes all out on everything he does, but he's a great dad and my DIL thinks he's a pretty good husband, too.

Steve was home for one night, did his laundry and helped me with a few things around the house, but has now gone back to work for the week. Next weekend is a holiday, so I'll get him for 3 whole days! If it doesn't rain, he might actually be able to work on something around here!

Easy to forget what day it is.
Long driving day. Love seeing the cotton fields waiting to be harvested. Not much color in the trees. Hope to be at Disney in the early afternoon.

That's okay Chris--at least you got to make it sticky so it stays at the top. Glad your snow didn't hang around

Safe travels, Cathy. Have fun at Disney with your family.

I have what I think will be my last batch of apple butter in the oven and hope to can it today. Then I'll be cleaning up all the equipment and putting things away for the season. Then it will be all holiday prep as I knit and sew for the upcoming Christmas boutique at DD1's house and then for Christmas. I need to get moving on those things!

Just thought I would make this easier for all with the holidays coming up .
I think we might have gotten our first frost last night. Dh covered his strawberry plants with straw yesterday and unhooked the hose.
Everything is packed and waiting to be taken out to the car. Heading to Florida in a bit. Once Dh wakes up---LOL
