I fell off the wagon and got run over. I am up for this challenge. The last time I did the 6 week challenge I lost 9 pounds. I am hoping for a bigger loss this time. I have read the book twice. This morning my breakfast was a blueberry banana mango spinach romaine smoothie. Lunch was brussel sprouts, a very small romaine salad with slivered almonds and an apple. Dinner will be a salad with loads of veggies and beans. I did a 1 mile walking dvd on my lunch hour in my office. I am building back up to walking a couple of miles each day.

Jules

Day One:

Started my day right with crockpot oats again.

Lunch: broccoli & brown rice w/ Mrs. Dash.

If last time was any indicator, I can expect 3 days of detox carb cravings. It's ok. If I can make it through the weekend on program, I should be good to go for next week!

Wow - just saw this challenge. Count me in - starting today. I was going to do a 1 week Fuhrman-smoothie fast - and then do Fuhrman from there / see what happens - but doing a challenge with the team sounds much better!

I went out to dinner for a friend's birthday. I'll be calling tomorrow Day 1! :-)

I've had chicory coffee. (Whole Foods sells a couple brands) It's like instant coffee and I mix it with instant decaf. Not bad at all, and really cuts the acid of the coffee.

I heard that drinking dandelion tea, will help craving of coffee. They say no caffeine but taste like a coffee. It's called Dandy blend. You can buy at Amazon. I wonder if anyone has try it? sounds healthy and yum but bit pricy too...

I was out all this afternoon and failed to drink water. :(

Hi Dragon! Black tea has caffeine. As I understand it, not as much as coffee but more then green tea. Herbal teas are caffeine free and I think white tea is very low. I have to keep telling myself that water is best.

Day 1, had onions, beans, tomatoes for breakfast. Salad and cantaloupe for lunch and bean soup for dinner (my DH is gonna hate me later). Lots and lots of water. Downloaded the book and read half of it in the AM before eating breakfast. Hope to get in more reading later so I get a better handle on what I'm doing.

This year is all about me and my quest to unload this extra person I have been hauling around.

Just woke up...insert sleepy face here, lol...Happy HEALTHY New Year everyone!!!

It is hard for me to feel excited about beans so I will go open a can and have them first. I do one cup of black tea in the AM and then green tea in the afternoons and herbal teas after that. I tell myself I will stop the black tea when all my black tea is used up. I should just toss the black tea...I will give that some thought today. Or really, I can just give it up for 6 weeks like the challenge asks. Black tea - I will see you in 6 weeks - or maybe this is good bye? : )

There was a line in the ETL book where he said even if you have a glass of wine a day and eat the nutritarian way it's still so much better than the SAD diet - I equate one coffe of coffee in the am with the wine. So I will continue one cup in the am and a little green tea during the day. Considering now I have anywhere from 300-500 mg of caffiene a day - it is a definite improvement.

Coffee is a hard thing!! I was not able to give it up. But I did reduce the caffeine. You can get half-caf coffee K cups, or if you use ground or instant you can mix them together and slowly decrease the amount of "real" coffee. That's what I did, and i only go back to real coffee if I really need a jolt.

Happy new year all!! emoticon
I stay up late till early this morning watching Netflix movie with my DH and was talking with my Son with long distance phone call New Years greeting and some family issue. So I am late start this morning. I haven't ate breakfast yet as I am on my treadmill doing morning exercise. As soon as I get off, I will have my veggie power smoothie and lunch will be a big bowl of salad. Not sure with dinner yet. Maybe black eye pea and salad. I don't think I can follow this plan up too perfection either. My dilemma is caffein. Not sure if I can stop drinking coffee all at once. I may still decides to drink a cup a day. But at least I am trying doing my best that I can with you all. This is a great team support doing together and that's count. At the end of 6 weeks you'll see with your result. It's all up to us to what you are shooting for. I will not beat myself at this time either if I can follow to the letter. In the end you will see all for yourself.

**Have a wonderful day!! Thanks all for your support and encouragement here at this team and challenge. Don't stress yourself out. Do what you can. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Day 24
All is going well. Went to the pub last night - had a big salad with a little bit of feta sprinkled on it but no dressing - best I could do! I did have one beer as it was New Years Eve.

Today:
Breakfast : grapefruit, banana & 1oz walnuts
Lunch: curried broccoli soup + salad with chickpeas. Grapes for dessert
(recipe from fat-free vegan - Ridiculously easy cream of broccoli soup)
Dinner: spinach, peppers, tomatoes plus mixed beans & half a cup brown rice. Dessert - mandarin orange

I use chia seeds instead of flax as they don't have to be ground and are just as good for you. I add them to my soup and sprinkle them on my salad.

Have a Happy New Year

I'm in Day 1. Chili loaded with veggies is in the crockpot. This includes kale, onions, celery, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms. I also will plan on a salad with pomegranate juice as the dressing. I ate an orange for breakfast.

Thanks for any encouragement. I sure need it!

Happy Day 1!!!

I'm not expecting to do ETL perfectly, but it's the best program I've found. Even in the summer I was not able to eat one pound of raw veggies and one pound of cooked every day. Does anyone out there do it to the letter?

Ok; crockpot oats for breakfast. Woo-Hoo!
Then I'll have brown rice and mixed veggies and stewed tomatoes for lunch.
Not sure about supper, yet.

How are the rest of you doing?

I'm on Day 25 ... but happy to continue on with the Challenge. I'm really pleased with the results - even with my 5 lb regain during 3 days of Christmas 'enjoyment'. My weigh-in day will continue to be Saturdays.

I feel tons better when I follow the plan. You'd think that would be enough to keep me on it but so many factors involved that influence one! But will get a better grip on all that going forward in 2014!

I'm back on track ... today's food is all on plan and DELICIOUS ... have exercised, drinking my water, etc etc.

FEELIN' GOOD!! We can ALL do this!

I have been a big advocate of Dr. Fuhrman's "Eat to Live" and "The End of Diabetes". I've lost 20 lbs. using his methods and by the time I see my doctor for my diabetic testing in April I hope to see a dramatic change in my tests. So, I am in on this one.

Hi. I have never truly stuck specifically to this program, because I like to eat starchy like Dr. John McDougall's nutritional theory, but I will do my best! My partner is hoping to lose the 20 lbs in six weeks by sticking to the plan 100%. We both need a full on vegan diet with lots of plants to get back on track.
