I am thinking it's nice to start to add up points for exercise, the way we add up points for our veggies in the June challenge: 1 point per 10 minutes, and make it a monthly exercise challenge. I'll start a thread for that now.

I did 40 minutes of biking on wednesday (to get to hospital to have bloodwork done), and 30 minutes of walking.

Yesterday, thursday, I did about 30 minutes of cleaning, and 50 minutes of walking.

I enjoyed a long walk by the lake with my sister this evening - about 1-1/2 hrs or so.

I had 30 minutes of cleaning the windows on monday, plus 50 minutes total of walking, makes 80 minutes.
Yesterday I did 30 minutes of biking and 45 minutes total of walking, makes 75 minutes.

Good job ladies!

Swimming! I'd love to go swimming. But I'm not that fond of the pool in our town. I would love to swim in the sea or a lake or river again, haven't done that in AGES.
I need to get myself to that pool some time soon though. (I've been saying this for over a year, I must admit).

I got in 55 minutes of walking yesterday.

Great job with the ST! How often do you plan to do ST?
That often takes me quite some willpower to start with the ST.

I did 15 minutes of walking yesterday, I wasn't feeling well. Oh 5 minutes with the dog but I only count it when it's 10 minutes or more...

Today so far I did 48 minutes.

Oh dear, so it's not a very safe area to walk in?

Yes- got out with my cousin. She had a hard time walking and I think I pushed her a bit but I will still call it walking. I kept checking and she said she was fine.
Nice path!
I'd like to go again but not sure if I can go alone- I might check out pepper spray etc

I haven't been exercising because I've been at the hospital with my father, also because I still have lower back pain. I will be careful to walk on dirt, and not ciment, as much as possible when I start to walk again.

Sorry to hear about your back pain.

Don't know if you can get them but maybe you can look into FitFlop shoes. I got a pair of them when I still had foot pain and they were SO wonderful. They have a very soft bedding (if that's the right word) which means they absorb so much of the impact of walking.

I got about 20 minutes of exercise walking to the hospital to visit my father yesterday.

The general soreness from my 2.5 hr. walk with my sister has left, but I've been having lower back pain. A large part of our walk was on cement and it was too much. I need to walk mostly on grass or dirt. As the natural dirt paths open up, I'll be able to do those long walks, but until then I have to be careful not to overdo.

No rain today. I was so glad when my sister left work early and we went for a long walk by the lake (a little over 2 hrs.) The ice is still melting off the lake and there was a chilly wind, but we were well dressed and enjoyed our walk. emoticon

Twenty minutes is good! You made the effort of getting in some exercise.
My idea is that even if you do just 10 or 20 minutes per day you still extend a habit of exercising and at some point you will miss it if you skip it.

Those wonderful guide dogs are such a blessing for those who own them! I agree it would be nice to go for a walk together. We'd have a lot to talk about. :-)

You got a lot of exercise again today. I'm sorry that you have to deal with an arthritic hip! That makes it more challenging to pace yourself to make sure you don't hurt yourself... enough but not TOO much.

I only did 20 minutes on the bike today. Not very good at all, but better than nothing.

I wish I could go on a walk with you and the two dogs! My friend's dog is a guide dog as my friend is blind. He is soooo calm and controlled, it's almost scary. NEVER pulls the leash.

This morning I walked our own dog for 30 minutes, then later on we had a walk in the woods of 50 minutes. I did notice that my arthritic hip was beginning to hurt after 40 minutes... I wonder if walking longer stretches of time more often would be a good idea.
And I vacuumed for about 15 minutes.

I had 62 minutes of exercise on friday, 60 minutes of walking on saturday, 47 minutes on sunday, only 10 yesterday.
Today so far 60 minutes, and I walked the dogs of our friends for about 1 hour, but they are very very slow, they are guide dogs and incredibly well behaved, not to say 'dull'. They are used to walking slowly to accomodate their blind owners. Their owners, our friends, were unable to walk them today.
My own dog is SO different, she pulls the leash hard and as a hunting dog she always wants to move forward and onward!
With these two I was mostly standing still or strolling very slowly. Not sure if that counts as exercise. At least I was on my feet, grin.

Got my 3.28 mile run inside of a 6 mile route. My speed is up a little- but I will work on tha t. I di dth e 3.28 no stopping so happy with that !

LOL that's right, REJ!

Could you maybe set a challenge for yourself for 10 days, to do just 5 or 10 minutes of using the stationary bike per day? Shall I create an exercise challenge thread?

I did not do my usual amount of exercise / walking in the past two days, I wasn't feeling very well, tired and a bit achy (a bug?). Did 25 minutes on thursday and 20 minutes yesterday. Today so far 65 minutes; walking the dog and cleaning.

White, You never know WHAT might happen when Em goes out to play!

I'm not even in the same league as you guys.
I live in a lovely 3-1/2 room apartment (which I love) in an old victorian-style house. But I have to make an effort to get in a minimum number of steps. It's a challenge on days when I don't go out. I have no excuse though. I have a stationary bike.
