I've not been at Sparkpeople much because I was ill in the past week, did not eat much at all.

There's also more family trouble, my father is not doing well and there's a lot of ado, or what to call it, with my siblings regarding the care he needs... I have not kept track of how many snacks I ate... there were times when I hardly ate.

Thank you, Sunny. Both my father and White's father are in the hospital right now. It's not an easy time. But I have been enjoying his company as I've spent a large part of the last 3 days visiting with him.

White, Here's a big hug for you. emoticon

On saturday my eating got out of control when I visited my father in hospital... .probably tired and sad and I thought we'd be home for the evening meal, but we got home only past 10 PM, only option was to eat french fries. Or fast, but I had the fries and then later on ate more non-ETL foods... Next time I'll try to remind myself that not eating is not a disaster so just skip a meal rather than have an unhealthy one... (?? If I can do that).
Had 2 snacks I think.

Sunday I had 1 snack. So seven days of meeting the goal of 1 snack per day.

I'm sorry your father is in hospital, REJ. Glad you can offer support to your mother. Good for you for trying to make the best choices.

My father is in hospital too, doctor said he is 'seriously ill'... emoticon Double pneumonia, and he's 90 years old...

I had one snack yesterday. Six days so far.

Had no snacks yesterday, but I was having trouble staying focused on my nutritarian eating. My father was hospitalized a couple of days ago, and I've been spending time with mom, trying to support her. My eating could have been better, but it could have been a whole lot worse, so I am moderately satisfied with my choices.

White-Green thank you for these ideas. I am still undecided on breakfast, I don't usually eat anything in the morning unless I am travelling and going to work all day afterwards. At home I try to do intermittent fasting so I only eat in an 8-hour window in the afternoon.
I'll check out the new 6-week thread.

Hi Sunny!
I am not an expert on this topic at all so these are just my thoughts... The sugars in the fruit are balanced out best if you eat them along with other foods so I would not make it a habit to have fruit without other food.
I would have fruit in the morning if you need a snack maybe with a few nuts, or with some ground flaxseeds sprinkled on the fruit.
For a snack in the afternoon I'd have raw vegetables like carrot or cucumber or tomatoes etcetera, and maybe some beans or hummus. (Hummus makes a nice dip for the veggies).

I will start a new six week challenge thread so you can post about your experiences there, I think other members might like it too.

I'm just starting ETL today, using the plan in Fuhrman's End of Dieting book while I await delivery of ETL book from Amazon.
I don't usually eat breakfast, I just have several cups of black tea with milk (now plant milk!) when I wake up. I've been doing this for many years so I don't intend to add breakfast now. If I do get hungry before family lunchtime I may have a snack but more often I try not to, maybe stop any tummy rumblings with some glucomannan and water. Depending on the time I had lunch or the time we are having dinner (we eat late in Greece) I may have another snack in the afternoon before the evening meal. I was thinking of using my fruit allowance for these snacks, or for a very late brunch, then have only dinner. Which would work better?

Normally, I am not a snacker, but wouldn’t you know it...today...I left a reception with a goodie bag of fruit, mini quiches and donut holes. And I have been snacking on them at least 3 times today. Well, tomorrow no snacks!

This is the Eat to Live team challenge for May 2019: NO SNACKS.

Share here, if you can each day, how you did. Set a goal for yourself. This could be to have no snacks at all. But if you've been used to eating snacks, just set a goal to eat a snack less often.
So if you were used to having three snacks per day, challenge yourself to have no more than two snacks per day. Or if you were having two snacks on most days, now try to have no more than one.

It is fine to fail now and then. There's no learning without failures. We had to fall down many times before we learned how to walk. What matters is not to succeed perfectly day in day out but to keep trying.

It's really important to post frequently on this challenge thread: this helps enormously to motivate yourself, AND you will also help to motivate, and support, your fellow team members. Don't post only when you succeeded; post also when you failed so we can encourage one another to keep on.

In your first post and in each post you make, state what your goal is this month: to eat 0, 1, or 2 snacks per day.
If you like you can also post for how many days you've met your goal. Either as a streak or just count how many times in May you met it.
