Thanks for your post REJ. I am glad you understand. I have thought about this and I came up with a thought sthat maybe from now on I will set up challenges that require a person to post once a week, not every day. And I'll post just once a week, I think.
I had great fun with the challenges about the G-BOMBS and the Nutritarian Guidelines and they did help me. Your participation was greatly appreciated by me, but I also understand that you may not feel like being that active.
It may be fun to do something like that again. Maybe in winter.

But as it it now, my life is going differently, I am in mourning and we'll be going away on 'vacation' in July for a few weeks,
I've thought that it would be good if I become more active with non-weight related goals, developing myself, using my talents, work, and so on and spend less time online, really. The positivity training I am doing now is doing me SO MUCH good, I really needed that and it helps me to think about what truly matters most in life.

I understand what you're saying, White. It would almost be like running a race with no other participants. I haven't been a good participant in this challenge either. I seem to be having a hard time getting my act together. I think about the challenge when I'm eating my veggies, but then I forget to post the results. Anyway, it's a fact that except for you, Em and I, there are no other regular participants. If the challenges are helping you, White, maybe you should continue them. If it has become a burden for you to do them, maybe you should reevaluate. As for me, I enjoy participating in the challenges (even if I'm not doing so regularly right now), but I will be eating a nutritarian diet whether there are challenges or not.

"everybody" in this case means mostly Em and me, It seems... and you.

I have wondered if I want to continue with this challenge, and if I will start new challenges in the future because to do them on my own or with very little posts from others, I feel I had better use my time for other purposes.... emoticon emoticon

What I love about doing challenges is the feeling of working on a goal with others who are working on that same goal... I miss that feeling now.

I always write down in a notebook what I eat, don't even know why, not sure it makes sence but it's such a habit, did it for years and years. So I can always look back and see what I ate.

Personally I don't count potatoes and sweet potatoes as vegetables because Dr. Furhman also places them in a different category (vegetables: eat as much as you want; potatoes and grains: no more than x amount).

I'm going to write my vegetables as I eat them, editing my post as I eat more. Otherwise, I tend to forget what I ate.

In my savoury breakfast oatmeal: onion, beets, spinach and cabbage.

Oh, it's not all that serious REJ. There is no 'veggie police' here at the ETL team! LOL

You can just count a serving of vegetable, whatever the type, as one point. A rough estimate will do.
Just as you please.

Editing to add: I just saw on the other thread that counting reminds you of 'tracking', if that's the case, then please don't do it, being at this team should be fun and motivating, not a chore...!

I hear you with regard to a good start of the day. Good luck with healthy choices now!

Keep consuming those healthy veggies, White! emoticon

The reason I'm not counting points anymore is that I often consume a bag of mixed veggies, like beet or kale slaw, or a cruciferous mix. It feels like work to have to check out and write down the different ingredients in the bag. Then I wonder if each type of food qualifies as a full portion or not. I need to keep it simple, very, very simple.

Yesterday was NOT a good day as far as nutritarian eating goes. It started with a family breakfast buffet and then I just could not seem to get back on track for the rest of the day. I did have some beets, onions and a bit of lettuce and tomato. I'm determined to start off on the right foot today. I find that the type of breakfast I have (nutritarian or not) has a big impact on my choices for the rest of the day. A good breakfast seems to get me into the right mindset.

Let's all make sure to consume lots of delicious and nutritious veggies today!

No matter how slow you go, you are STILL lapping everybody on the couch.

White-Green,

Weighing it. I like that idea!! I'll have to do that. I also wasn't adding in beans because I didn't think they counted as they are considered legumes.

Thanks for the quick response!

Hi Angela, in reply to your question: "do we count a serving or just having them? Like in a salad, I put up to 10 different things in my salad. However, a serving may be 1/2 cup. Well, my salad is very large, but not THAT large!! LOL So how does that go? "

I would say (making the rules up as I go along emoticon ) that one serving is 1 point.
How much is one serving?

See:
www.eatforhealth.gov.au/food-essenti
al
s/how-much-do-we-need-each-day/serveR>-sizes

"A standard serve is about 75g (100–350kJ) or: ˝ cup cooked green or orange vegetables (for example, broccoli, spinach, carrots or pumpkin) ˝ cup cooked dried or canned beans, peas or lentils (preferably with no added salt) 1 cup green leafy or raw salad vegetables".

So if you make a salad with 10 different vegetables and you should weigh it, then every 75 grams of cooked green or orange veggies is 1 serving (1 point), every cup of leafy greens is 1 point (1 serving) and every half cup of beans or lentils is 1 point.
Does this help?

It's fine to count or not count points, as you wish - the purpose of the challenge is to share how many and what kind of vegetables you ate. I personally like to add points as it gives me a feeling of accomplishment.

It was very difficult to get the veg group back but I and anothe rSP person did

Got it. I'll have to look back to tally pts. Also, do we count a serving or just having them? Like in a salad, I put up to 10 different things in my salad. However, a serving may be 1/2 cup. Well, my salad is very large, but not THAT large!! LOL So how does that go?

PUSHWAIT, the idea is to tal the points yourself.

I live in Europe and therefore SP does not send me notifications of new posts on threads, which makes it quite hard to stay informed and just about impossible to lead a team. I became team leader to save this wonderful team from being 'leader less' and maybe annexated by non-vegans! :)

I am also dealing with challenges in my personal situation right now so I'd really appreciate it if everyone could add up their points! Or just not count, if you wish, that's fine too.

Are we supposed to be totaling the points or the moderator? Last time I did a challenge (which was a while ago, and may have been in another group), the moderator totaled them.

The challenge for this month is to report here on this thread the vegetables you ate, and how much of them.
Every serving of vegetables counts as 1 point, add up the points as we go along!
