I enjoyed a 60-minute walk by the lake with the sister on this lovely end-of-Summer day!

I'm so sorry that you are having problems with your foot, White! emoticon It's a big problem when even just walking becomes painful. I hope that the problems will resolve themselves so that you can happily walk your dog again.

I think it's smart not to push yourself TOO hard. Just try to make the next best choice, one choice at a time. emoticon

What an awesome pic, REJ! Lovely pond!

Maybe if you start taking walks by yourself, or doing other exercise by yourself, you will get used to it and get into a habit?

Re: "Only 40 minutes in the last 2 days, White? What's going on? Did your dog go on strike? I didn't know that getting adequate exercise could be challenging for you too because of your having to walk your dog. "

I see that I was not clear. I did 40 minutes of walking on both days, so a total of 80 minutes in 2 days.
I am however having trouble walking now because of a new foot complaint that is bothering me (a lot). I have been asking my husband to walk the dog. I feel very sad and frustrated that after suffering for years from fasciitis plantar, unaware that I could have solved that by avoding gluten, I now have another foot pain that is not responding to the gluten free diet. Podotherapist says that old injuries to the foot cause 'blockages' which mean one of the bones in my right foot is getting too much weight on it, which causes pain. I am at a loss.... emoticon
I will have to resort to taking bike rides to get enough exercise, which breaks my heart because it means the dog is sitting at home longing forwalks but I cannot provide them.

I still try to have hope that the pain will go away, maybe if I give the foot rest... Or find other ways to heal... Weight loss would help a lot, maybe, but as it is I am just glad I can continue to avoid sugars and eat lots of vegetables and beans - my weight stays the same. After our bathroom renovation I will try to make more effort to lose weight, it would probably mean cutting down on the non-ETL foods I now eat... I wish I was as good as you and Em in following the ETL rules, but again, as it is I am just glad to avoid bingeing and eating sugar.... I know that if I push myself too hard, chances are that I will 'break' and give up and go back to binge eating.... as that happened in the past.

I was so glad when my sister asked me if I wanted to go for a walk tonight! We left at around 5:30pm and got back at around 8pm. It did me a world of good, as much emotionally as physically to go for that walk. emoticon

This is a lovely scenic pond we walk by on our habitual path.

Only 40 minutes in the last 2 days, White? What's going on? Did your dog go on strike? I didn't know that getting adequate exercise could be challenging for you too because of your having to walk your dog.

I haven't been doing any better. I haven't gotten out for a couple of days. I wish I wasn't so much of an "all-or-nothing" person. I need to get out (or at least ride my stationary bike) even when my sister isn't available!

A 50 minutes walk is still something I'd be so happy to be able to do!

I've had 40 minutes of exercise in the past two days.

I enjoyed an early evening walk by the lake with my sister. Our evening walks are getting shorter (about 50 minutes) because sunset is getting earlier and earlier. It seems Summer is going by too quickly!

You're doing great, REJ!

Re: biking: The Netherlands, my country, is really a good country for biking as there are hardly any hills and no mountains, so it's flat. The area I live in has some hills but in town it's easy to get around on a bike. Most people here will ride a bike as a habit, up until old age. Good bike paths almost everywhere.

Yesterday I did 60 minutes of walking. Today so far I did 30 minutes. My foot hurts and that worries me. If I have foot pains it will be so much harder to get exercise and my poor dog will also get less time outside to play and walk.

I'll post pics of our dog on my blog, so it's more private. I hope you'll go and check it out.

White: While walking with my sister this afternoon (2 hr walk), I mentioned that I might like to walk dogs at an animal shelter or something if ever she couldn't walk with me anymore. I see people walking their dogs and can't help but think about what great walking buddies they make. What type of dog do you own? And biking is great exercise too. I haven't done any in so long, I think I'd be scared to try again. emoticon

Having a dog really helps to get more exercise! I take my dog for a walk twice a day, sometimes three times per day (my husband walks her too). Usually I get 30 to 50 minutes of walking per day just from walking the dog.
Not being able to drive a car (I have a driver license but did not drive for decades) also helps: to go to stores or to appointments I usually take my bike.

Yesterday I only did 35 minutes, not sure why, I had some foot pains and did not feel like walking much.
Today so far it's been 55 minutes of walking and biking, but I will probably do some more walking with our dog tonight.

I took a short 15 or 20-minute walk with my sister this morning. I also walked to the store to pick up a couple of grocery items (about 20-25 minutes).

I haven't been getting any movement for the last couple days (inexcusable!) So, I was really happy when my sister invited me to join her for a walk this morning. (I had forgotten it was her day off work.) It was a bit warm, but otherwise, a lovely day for walking. We left at 8:45 and got back at 11:30. Great walk!

I'm walking 70 minutes each day -- my goal is 10,000 steps 5 days a week. Yesterday, I just didn't feel like it. I got 6,500 done. Today I'm back to feeling my peppy self; I'll get it done. I divide it up throughout the day. I've walked around my work building inside twice this morning, and just logged 3,000 steps. I'll get at least 3,000 more during my lunch hour, and finish up with the hills of my neighborhood before dinner.

I went for a long walk by the lake with my sister this morning. It was PERFECT weather for a walk. I feel so blessed to live in such a lovely little town!

My sister took some photos of the beautiful, calm lake and one of me near some beautiful flowers along the walking path. What a great way to start the day!

I just got back from a 2-hour walk with my sister. It's so much more motivating to walk when my walking buddy is available! Unfortunately, I've been letting her lack of availability be an excuse for not getting out and walking by myself. But right now, I'm just glad we got out for that morning walk. I admit that our jaws get as much exercise as our legs. emoticon

Post here how much exercise you got!

Do at least 70 minutes (10 minutes per day on average) per week!

If you like you can give yourself 'points': 1 point for every 10 minutes of exercise you did.

All types of 'moving your body' count, so it could be walking or fitness or cleaning or any other activity that burns calories and improves your wellbeing (unless you want to only count certain activities: feel free to do this challenge in the way that suits you best).
