I had a lovely walk with my sister this afternoon. It wasn't our usual long rapid walk because we had her two energetic grandchildren with us. We walked to two parks and kept an eye on the kids while they burned off some of their excess energy.

I went for a long walk with my sister yesterday, almost 2 hours. The beautiful mallard ducks have returned to fatten up and rejoin their mates for their long migration south. It's another sign of the upcoming Winter. I marvel at the beauty of God's creation at this time of year, when maple leaves turn bright reds and brilliant oranges and yellows. Magnificent! emoticon Also, I'm grateful for the bountiful harvest at this time of year. emoticon

REJ, I'm so thankful that I have my walking bike though I do regret having to use it. Having one means at least I can walk my dog and give her the exercise she needs!

With regard to the foot pain: I am at a loss. It may be so that nothing can be done. I wrote a long post but decided to post it on my blog, in stead, for privacy reasons.

I was very happy when my sister texted me to go for a walk today! I thought she would be working, so it was an unexpected blessing. We walked a little over 2 hours.

Hi White,

I admit I had never heard of a walking bike, so I googled it. Then I looked at a YouTube video about it. What an interesting contraption!

I'm sorry that your foot is still hurting you. It's amazing that you still manage to get so much movement in, in spite of the pain. Is the foot problem something that should resolve on its own, or will you need surgery to fix it?

Having more foot pain is really bothering me as it means I get less exercise. I had 45 minutes of walking (in part, using my walking bike) on saturday and 50 minutes on sunday.
In the past week I got 347 minutes of exercise total.

Rode my bike to 2 open houses and dropped it off at a bike shop for a tune up and walked back with helmet- so many people asked! To help..if I was stranded - too funny anyhow 5 miles bike ride+ 4.25 mile walk+ I went off on a little trail on the way home

off to do a 4 miler + walking before and after
REJ- your walk sounds wonderful!

-I began some speed training a few days ago- 400 meters and rest in between. Just starting am at 2 minutes + 15 seconds average. Good place to start

Today I took a 60-minute walk with my sister this afternoon.

Photo of a little red squirrel who didn't budge and just kept enjoying his lunch when we walked up to him on the trail during Saturday's walk. Brave little fella!

I got 2 walks in today. This morning I participated in a fund-raising walk with my niece. This afternoon I walked with my sister. Between both, I got in over 3 hrs. of walking. I'm pretty happy about that. emoticon

All the experts I listen to say how important it is to find exercise we enjoy. It sounds like your 4-mile bike ride and dip in the ocean fit the bill! It sounds wonderful! emoticon

My sister wanted to go for a walk tonight, so I got another 1-1/2 hour walk in today, for a total of almost 20,000 steps. emoticon

I was not in the mood for "exercise"- but now that Summer is almost over I decided to bike to bay. 4 mile bike. The swim was a dip but it felt really good to loosen up.
No one else was in the ocean. A few people on the beach. I don't go out too far.

I "tricked" myself into a walk this morning. I decided to go have my morning coffee at McD's, about a 30-minute walk, round trip. I read that going for a short walk (10 - 20 minutes) immediately after a meal helps to control blood sugar. But I feel more like napping after a meal than walking! So, the plan was to go to McD's for a decaf after breakfast. But when I got to the walking path on the way to the restaurant, my feet turned on the path and I went for a 1 hr walk. (Even if I had only gotten the 30-minute walk to McD's, I would have considered it a win.) I "splurged" on some organic lemons on the way home, and plan to make some hummus later today. Pretty good start to my nutritarian day! emoticon
