Frozen Peeps! ~ Well, except for @GLENDA2017 emoticon

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the Travel business. I'm getting there.

Wifey & I got back from my cousin's funeral on Friday in Moncton. She was 54, and cancer attacked her brain tumor 3 times in 15 years. This 3rd time, she just didn't want to have a horrible quality of life, so she chose no treatments. I was offline for those 3 days. And family arguments between those living in glass houses is always difficult to watch, but they did ok. Parents are ok, but Dad needs to go to a home soon, because he yelled at Wifey, because he thought she was staying with *his* mom, instead of his ex-wife. I guess it wasn't pretty, because I missed it. And as long as Mom doesn't fall, she should be ok this winter too. Her lower legs are in bad shape, and her condition is probably the biggest reason I keep walking and exercising. I have to do what I can to avoid the thrombosis she has suffered, because I want to walk without feeling like my legs will give out from under me.

Medicinal crop is still not quite harvested. There's about an hour's worth of "trimming" with what's dry, then pull out the ones that are still in the pots. Yes, I'm surprised they haven't rotted, but it's cool in the room, so that might be my saving grace. Lettuce needs buckets to grow next, started a 2nd cat grass container, and those poor cukes, I have no idea if they'll survive the year. And I haven't planted any new medicinals yet.

Xmas shopping? Yeah, I've started. Our budget is super small this year, so ALL nieces & nephews get one $15 gift card, great-nieces & -nephew will get about $5 each, I'm tempted to get Mom an earpiece for her phone, something she can simply clip over her ear. I really like mine, and I think she would too. Then she could knit and talk on the phone at the same time. Dad will most likely get Cab Bucks in $5 or $10 denominations, and each sibling will be capped at $50. As for Wifey & my's cap? dunno yet, it depends on how much money we have just before the holidays.

Oh, and we have more than a skiff of snow now. Mr. Plow came by and scraped off a layer. So I dug out my winter coat. Par for the season, mama & papa mice have been caught in traps inside the house. Apparently I missed the session where Kittenhead and Garfield-wanna-be would have tormented it until one of them killed it. Welcome home!

I'm off to finish booking Orlando for the Fam of 6, but I'm creating the December thread before I do.

Don't let the wind blow your Spark away!

Yes Jo,,, congrats... You will be awesome at your new venture...
I tried what you suggested about my computer. Sadly no success.
This weekend I have the cold... yuck.... I hate a runny nose... On the plus side I got over 16000 steps in.
How is the Xmas shopping going? I havenít even started. I was going to do some today, but, I just couldnít handle the stores. I was low on patience from the cold.
Keep the Spark peeps... and keep warm...
Hugs...

In the general discussion I said that I donít have the experience to do a telecommuting IT job. My specialty is compiling, rehearsing, conducting and production of events. December is a big month Ė but most important to me is Remembrance Day. Some material Iíll use two years in a row; but then Iíll introduce something new. I was very happy with the 2019 results. Less than thrilled with the attitude of one on-line personality. I think the role of social media was strong to bring to light that breach of more enlightened views of social justice. And more stories of Canadian efforts as well as contributions to the preservation of democratic freedoms came to light. emoticon

Hey Peeps,

Temps are swinging to and fro a lot these days! Today, we had freezing rain overnight, and this morning was just bad all around, so I worked from home. The trees are bending pretty good from the ice, and very little snow.

Glenda, my travel bucket list grows with each person I talk to. It may be a couple years yet, but we will get there. I'm hoping for the perk of a less-expensive cruise to get us there. I've heard it's nice too. But first, our next trip is to Hawaii. I would just LOVE to surprise Wifey with a trip for March break, but I don't think I can manage the cost of flights just yet.

Since I didn't leave the house, I managed to get a little bit of indoor gardening done. My medical plants are ready, and I harvested a little over than half the batch. We've also started the lettuce, but I think we have to do it a little differently this time..... the mesclun mix is coming up, but not the Romaine at all. Cat grass is doing well, but sparse - we forgot it has to be planted by quantity, not quality. And I think the cucumbers have sprouted their 2nd leaves. We have ground cherries in buckets, and the cherries are starting to grow in the pods. And I have to start more medical plants this weekend.

On Saturday, another travel consultant joined me at the Estey's Bridge Christmas Market. The goal was exposure, and I'll be darned if I didn't get a sale out of the day. It never ceases to amaze me how they find us. It was a good day, and we each got about 25 new names as clients. My focus now is to get the family of 6 all booked up for hotel at the Hfx airport with park & fly, and a mini van in Florida for the week, along with their Disney tickets. There are a lot of other leads, but until they say, "Book it!", it's just a lead.

I'm off to record another training video.... only 3 months late. Oops! :-D

Stay Warm!

Jo

Jo, thanks for the tip for my computer. I will try that.
You are having some frosty temps. BRRRR.... I am not missing the cold. Nope not one little bit... lol...
We are having some rain and it has been that way most of the week. It is not a bone chilling rain though. Not like it would be back home.
I would love to visit Australia. That would be such an awesome trip. I went to school with a girl who moved to Australia when she married her husband. She loved it there.
Will you and wifey go for a trip to Aussie land? That would be awesome.
Well I must get myself off to my nest now. (Before Marty hogs the whole bed again)... lol...
Take care peeps. Keep Sparkly warm.....
Hugs...

Glenda, oh no on the desktop!! There may be a way, and it's a bit of a long shot. On the login, switch the username to admin, and the password will either be password or admin. I'm assuming (I really have to stop using that word) that you didn't set up the admin account, and there would be one in there by default. I hope you manage to get in there.

Now that winter arrived in NB with a big boom, it's freezing this morning! -14 with the windchill, and I almost couldn't open my truck doors.

The Travel Consultant gig is starting to pick up. I think I'll have 2 more bookings before Christmas, including one booking over the Christmas holidays. I have discovered that it's crazy expensive to fly around the holidays EXCEPT for Christmas Day. I was pricing out an all-inclusive for 10 days, and if the family wants to travel on Dec 25th, they save about $500 each. And 2 of Wifey's classmates want to go to Australia for their OJT, so I'm pricing out that too.

Ok, time to get back to the day job. ;-)

Bundle up and Spark Strong!

Jo

Jo, no not the mainland just one of the Islands, I am hoping we donít get much snow here. In any case, at least here I wonít have to shovel. (I have the SIL for that... Having said that, it was good exercise...
I am doing some knitting. I started working on a throw. Not quite an afghan but close. It is going to be red and grey. Just a little something to cozy up in... while I watch TV..
Congrats on the 7lbs there Jo. Getting those veggies in does make a difference. I know I donít feel good if I skip them. Itís like I have a guilt thing that makes me feel unwell.... lol..
Speaking about laptops/computers, I locked myself out of my desktop and canít remember my password to get back in. I have been trying to unlock the darn thing since I moved here... I am just about ready to trash it... :(.....
Well peeps I am heading to my nest now. I will do some reading to relax.
Have a good Sparkie day tomorrow..
Hugs...

Glenda, what a pretty picture! Is that the mainland off in the distance? And 6 months already... wow. Unless it's an unusual winter, I'm quite sure you will enjoy it, because it's mostly snow-free! I miss that about the island.

I'm still working on getting veggies in for supper, and it seems to be working. Since the new year, I'm down 7lbs. It's been consistently that weight (218lbs) for about a month now, so it looks like that has happened. Yeah, I'm actually quite happy with that.

Because I struggle with anxiety, and I couldn't seem to get my poop in a group, I decided to define office hours for the travel consultant business. I'm hoping it will start me on the right foot, and I can slowly increase the time as I am more trained. I've set M-T-W 6-730pm, and so far, I've got 2 days that I've followed my schedule. This doesn't mean I won't work on the other 4 days, but it will slow down guilt feelings that I should be doing more.

And I'm almost to the point where I think I may need a new laptop. I can't complain, the one I have has lasted 7 years, but when I open forms on the consultant site, I can only get some of the buttons to work half the time. I have another 2 things to try first, to see if I can make it last until Wifey returns from school for good.

As I pick out my favourite early winter hats & scarves & mitts, I am trying hard not to curse the cold wind. They're calling for that 4-letter word (snow) on Friday, but unsure of how much we get yet. I need to move the huge flower pots in the way of plowing tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I can even move them without shovelling out some soil first. Meh, I'll figure it out. :-)

Spark Strong!
