I've been doing doing one of the Spark People Video strength challenges... and even though I have been working out for a the entire summer I have avoided really focusing on my legs -bad knees and recovering from broken bones... but it's time to focus in on them specifically. It has been a real wake up call, I know you runners have strong legs... but these videos are kicking my butt!!! I am going to continue them through out the month and onward as they truly do focus in on one or two areas of the body. Plus I will be able to see how much easier they become as I get further into the days.

I hope you all have a great Labor Day! Be safe and Eat wisely!

Today is Day 30 for me on SP and things must be working like they're supposed to - I received 2 compliments this week from coworkers that said that they can tell that I'm losing weight! YAY!!! Both said they can see it in my face. How exciting is that?

emoticon I did get up and run this morning. I did 3.3 miles in about 35 minutes. I did the same route earlier this month and it took me 40 minutes to do it the first time. I was shocked that I was able to knock 5 minutes off my time already!

Tomorrow I will be doing an "official" weigh in and recap of the month on my blog (although I would love to go do it right now!). Hope you all have a great day! emoticon

That is great BigB...
I got my workout in early this morning and it was all in the pool. I have had to back off the weights and other exercises for a bit until my "spained" neck heals. When I push to hard it burns all day and keeps me awake at night.

I am proud of you guys who run... I dream about running but my knees quickly remind me that I would need a very supportive and absorbent surface to be able to make it a single mile and then I would be pulling myself back by my arms.... LOL SO emoticon and take care of those joints!!!

Just ran 3 miles, right after the rain. The humidity zapped me and I ended up walking quite a bit. Still finished in about 34 minutes. I'd say it felt good but it really didn't. I have to say, I prefer my early morning runs to the evening. Too much traffic out there on the roads at 630PM!

So impressed BIGB280! When I lived in FL, I use to get out that early and run with my Sunshine Buddies anywhere from 8-10 miles a day. I hope I can get back to it again. I have been going through many changes here and Climate is one.
I did leg work today, lunges, squats leg raises and calves. Now off to do errands.
Have a great day all!

WOW BigB.... that is incredible distance so fast... that is great! Congratulations.
My sleep and I are at odds right now. I sleep when I want to be awake and awake when I want to be asleep... so we are going to have to have another long discussion about it. I do have a doctors orders that I have to go to bed everynight, whether I sleep or not.. or want to or now. I have to actually get in bed and let my mind know that this is the proper behavior. But it seems the more I dig MY heals in, the more sleep eludes me. SO I am doing bed yoga and shutting everything down an hour before I actually go to bed... hopefully in a few weeks my sleep will catch on. We've been at odds all my life. When I was a baby, the would give my mother valium otherwise I would keep her up all night. I was always alright, just sat in my crib and played... this worked until I was 9 months old when I started climbing out of my bed and walking, yes, walking, down the hall to wake up my older sister. LOL
Must be the reason I live alone.... :(

Lynn - sorry to hear you can't sleep. That is the worst! I hope you can get on a regular sleep schedule! I got to bed last night after 11 because I went out for ice cream with some friends after a church meeting. I made sure I stuck to my guns and got the small ("Like It" @Cold Stone) instead of my typical medium ("Love It") sized. I woke up this morning at 4:50 without the alarm so I got up and out by 5:15. I covered 5.6 miles in 1hr6min! It is my longest run since 1997!

it may be the middle of the night, but I was up and wide awake and clearing out "stuff" that needs to be recycled (electronics)...
I then was cleaning the bathrooms and pulled the scale out to clean under it (yes, I still have to do that) but tonight i decided I would weigh myself and OMG ..... they work... the scale has moved, the digital numbers were down a pound and a half!!! so, no chance of getting more sleep tonight, I will work out in the morning and then catch a good nap and get back on track with sleep tomorrow night. I have a doctors order that I have to GO TO BED everynight, whether I sleep or not. I went to bed at 11:30 and laid there for about an hour... then my body started hurting so I got up and moved around to get rid of the aches of "trying to go to sleep".

again, emoticon BigB....
I have recommitted myself to my goals, digging my heals in against my scales. I am loosing inches but not a single pound in a LONG Time. I am seeing a doctor at the end of the week to figure out what could be causing this plateau to be so stubborn. I can't imagine deleting anything more from my diet without going into a danger zone. I will not be outdone by the numbers on a scale, my clothes simply do not stay on without belts and safety pins... soon to be taken to be taken in.

I was up and out the door by 545 this morning, usually out by 520. I did 3.3 miles in about 40 minutes. Still working out some of the aches and pains of trying to carry too much weight for running. I'll get there though! One step and a time....

I woke up very early this morning, 4:30am and decided to do some push ups, back stretches, leg raises and sit ups. To think I use to run with my buddies at 5am in the Sunshine State and see the Sun come up over the Bay. It is 6:45am now and still dark. If there are any runners out there that love early morning running, please let me know. I am just starting over after a year and half break.
Have a Great Tuesday!

I stick to three exercises most of the time: water aerobics, which I love, walking and riding the recumbent bike. I am happiest when I get in 120 minutes daily, but lately I have not been able to do the full amount. Back to it soon, I hope.

NOT a runner (unless somebody is chasing me. Hasn't happened in years!!) but I do do 25 minutes every morning of stretching exercises to strengthen my back and most days I do the 2 circuit Curves routine.

Attitude is everything, pick a good one!

"It works if you work it, and it won't if you don't."

ONCE YOU GET THERE....DON'T GET COCKY,
IT'S EASY TO FALL RIGHT BACK DOWN.

Certainly I have a 6-pack. You just can't see it through my soft sided cooler!

That is great Sharon, these overcast days look pretty inviting for out door exercise. I just got back from a walk, about 2 miles- which is really good for my and my knees.
Not a runner, but envy those that go jogging by.
Hope you're able to get back into stride with your running very soon.
