Hi Carol and Mary Ellen!

Thank you both for your thoughts and well wishes for my mother. She has a follow up appointment with her Primary doctor tomorrow. I have not seen her blood work reports yet but the doctor at hospital said it all looked good.
Carol, I hope your husband has a quick recovery from the cataract surgery.
Ice Cream has always been my down fall. I love it so much and that made with Peaches. I had to give it up because I have no control.
Sure looks like we are going to have a lot more rain coming up. I hope you get more time out in the pool.

Carol,

You have myh complete and utter admiration for your streak regarding desserts. That is my absolute downfall. I have two eBooks on destroying your sugar cravings but I don't think I am up to that. I think you are doing it right though. Like an alcoholic, you need to go cold turkey. I know that's the only way it would work for me. I did go to a luncheon at McCalls in Clayton a few weeks ago and it was a buffet (another downfall for me) and I did NOT go to the buffet for any kind of dessert. That was will power, I tell you! Every tooth in my mouth is a sweet tooth!

Attitude is everything, pick a good one!

Certainly I have a 6-pack. You just can't see it through my soft sided cooler!

You are both so right about the gorgeous weather! Can't believe temps will stay in the 80's for more than a week and here it is the end of July! Unbelievable!
I got in my hour of water aerobics before hearing thunder in the distance, but we never got the rain. Pool was so full of water after last week's storms, the skimmer basket was covered and it had to wait until our son came home from Lake House to let some water out as DH and I don't do that.
I'm tired tonight as this has been a very busy week. DH had cataract surgery on Monday and only 1 in 100 people have to have a stitch in eye and he was that one person. He had intense pain from the time he came to about 9 AM. He was scheduled to return to dr. at 3 PM and she said the knot in stitch was causing pain so she clipped it. Relieved the pain but then was bothered by wiggling in eye which was the thread of the stitch. So the next morning we went across town for the third time (42 miles round trip) and she snipped the stitch. So it's 2 drops in the eye twice a day and a shield to wear to bed.
I am completing Day 62 of eating no desserts since I was expecting sweets too often. I am very proud of doing this as I have not even licked my finger when dipping strawberries in chocolate or tasting anything I baked. And I always do plenty of that.
Sorry about your mom, Sharon. Glad it was no more serious!
And MaryEllen, ice cream is my weakness and that sounds great! We have had marvelous peaches this year. WalMart had the best so far. Now I will go to Lowe's tomorrow and see if they still have them. Appreciate the tip!
Enough for tonight! Talk later, Carol

Well, I, for one, am up for this, so here goes!

What a gorgeous morning! So nice and cool. I"d love to have breakfast and read the paper on the screen porch, but I just had all my concrete stamped on Saturday and though it feels dry to the touch I've been told not to put any furniture back for a week so it can really dry and cure. So, unless I want to sit on the concrete, I'll have to settle for open windows. They will close soon enough as I know ti will heat up shortly.

Last night I made homemade peach ice cream for the Singles Luncheon I am hosting on the 11th. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out so this was a dry run in case I needed to just buy it. Well, it turned out WONDERFUL! the challenge will be to stay out of it till the luncheon! I found three possible recipes on the internet but none was quite right, so I did a pick and choose on the ingredients. I ended up using peach nectar in place of some of the whole milk, I used half white and half light brown sugar, and substituted almond instead of vanilla. OMG! it is wonderful. The peaches I used were from Lowe's. Their "locally grown" ones. They had them out by the carts and the whole area smelled like peaches! They were so ripe and wonderful. Picked no doubt when they were just perfect, not green and shipped like the usual ones. I considered going to Farmer's Market for them but when I smelled them at Lowe's I didn't waste my time going to FM. When I lived in California we had a peach tree in the yard. I think they were Elberta's and they would get so big and wonderful. You'd bite into them and the juice would run down to your elbow. They were perfect! And these were close. Not as big but the taste was there. I'll have to make the garage freezer off limits till the party!

Sharon, so sorry to hear about your Mom's episode. I think most antihistamines are off limits for BP patients. Only those that specifically say they are safe. Not sure which ones they are, as I don't have that problem (yet!). Cough meds are the same I think.

My plantar fasciitis is still with me, so my walking regime is on hold. I'll do my regular stretching exercises and do one or two of Nicole's videos. I haven't tried riding the bike my friend gave me. I needed to get it tuned up and by some equipment for it and right now it's in the garage behind all the furniture and tomato plants being stored out there. Which reminds me, I need to get the plants out on the driveway so they get some light and sun. This dragging them in and out is wearing thin, but if I leave them out the deer will get them for sure. They've left them alone on my patio because it is elevated and has a fence around it.

Have a great morning Sparkers!

Good Morning Raleigh Team.

I don't know if anyone wants to participate in a daily thread, but I thought I would try to get one going. My team in FL is very active with this, it's similar to getting together for coffee virtually and just coming by to say hi and maybe what you have done or plan to do for the day. More of a Chat so I thought I might start one and see how it goes. I really would love to see the team get active, if not in person, at least virtually.
I moved back to Raleigh after living in Tampa Bay for over 20 years to Care for my Elder Mom. I have been with Spark People since 12/09 and it has been a life saver for me. Being a Caregiver has changed my life and it seems like this is my social life. I was so use to meeting friends in the Park in FL every morning for a run and I don't have that freedom now.

Well, here goes!

Good Morning Team!
It is a beautiful cool morning, temps in 60's and low humidity. I have the doors open listening to Nature while enjoying my Cinnamon Spice Coffee. I had to open a corner of my Organic garden (bird netting ) to let a small bird out. Not sure how it got in?
Yesterday I went out for my morning run and did slightly over 6 miles as planned. The afternoon I took mom for her doctor appointment and we ended up spending the rest of the day and evening in the ER next store. She felt nauseous and her BP was quite high. I thought I was going to have a lot of great things to report to her doctor and then this happens. The only thing I can think of is we all have had some allergy or virus and I gave her an antihistamine? There was no warning on the label for people with high BP.
Today is a free day so I will do some Express Cardio to get me going this morning and then weight training and Abs.

Wishing all a great day and I really hope to see you here. I would love to do this daily and hope you all will join me. I will try to post daily a separate thread. I can't volunteer to be a Raleigh Team Leader but I certainly would love to be a Co-leader.
