Very tired tonight after 60 min. walking and 60 min. water aerobics besides baking a cake and pan of cookies for tomorrow's dinner at church. Also mixed chocolate chip cookies and will bake them tomorrow.
But the almost 2 hours of "Trunk or Treat" at the church really did me in.
The gal next to me had all kinds of Little Debbie treats, bottles of colored drinks in an ice chest, many 2 gallon jugs of Hawaiian Punch, gallons of cider, and coffee in carafes and she couldn't begin to keep up with the hundreds of kids who went through. Since it was cooling a bit the coffee was popular with parents. So I left DH with the candy and helped her.
Must get to bed since I plan to be at Kohl's at 8 AM to get new walking shoes and bras at good prices. Then drop off prescriptions at pharmacy (18 miles north of us), return home to bake cookies and be at church by 2 PM to help with spaghetti dinner until late evening.
Do you think we old folks keep busy???
Hope you all had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

emoticon Good Morning Team! emoticon emoticon Happy Halloween! emoticon

The end of October already.. This month just slipped by...
It is freezing here in NC! Temps are 40 degrees.

In a bit I hope to do some Cardio just to warm up and then weight training that I did not get to yesterday. I need to work on my garden getting it ready and protected from freezing temps we are expecting Sat and Sun. Yes, it will be dropping into the 30's. I really miss my FL Living. I don't think we ever got this cold in Tampa Bay until maybe February. A big maybe..

I am expecting some winter running gear to arrive today. I hope I can get myself use to running in these cooler temps. That is one of my long term goals so I can run the City of Oaks Half Marathon next year.

Ended up not going to pool party. Sorry because it may have been the last really warm day for a while. Just did my walking today. emoticon emoticon
Week-end is well booked with Trunk or Treat at church tomorrow evening, setting up for church fundraiser of Spaghetti Dinner, baking two desserts Saturday morning and going to work at dinner at 2 PM, then church on Sunday. We are usually quite busy when in FL.
Next week's calendar is plenty full also.
Guess that's it from the Sunshine State!!!

Good Morning Team!

WOW Carol, that is unusual for FL to get cold this early. I am sure it won't last long and will warm up quickly. Yesterday was a nice warm day here in NC and my SIS came by. We got my mother out and had a nice walk through the neighborhood. It felt good to get outside since I have been cooped up not feeling well. I think I am finally starting to feel better. Each day seems to get a little better.
Enjoy your Ghoul at the Pool party. Sounds like fun. We are all set up for Trick or Treat tomorrow night. Always a treat seeing the young children.
I saw this cold front coming and Sunday's temps will be in the 30's. I am so thankful that I did not sign up for this Half Marathon. Running in the 40's a few weeks ago seemed to be a little too much for me, and then totally sick after that going on a month now. I have some friends running the NYC Marathon and it is predicted to be the coldest temps on record for them. I am already planning out my Running schedule for next year.. So far, I know for sure I will sign up for both Half Marathon's The 13.1 MidTown Race.. June and September. I need to find one more within that 90 day Race period. I am trying to get three in 90 days to qualify for a National Running Group, Half Fanatics..
Today nothing major planned.. I will do my Cardio Workout and then Upper Body Weight Training. I might try to squeeze in Hips Thighs Buns- lots of lunges to keep my running legs strong.

Sarah, I hope you are getting your much needed rest.
Bobbie, You have been doing great with your running and workouts following Plan B. I do enjoy reading your blogs.
Linda, I hope you get back great results. Thinking of you.

Wishing all a Happy Sparking Day! Sounds like everyone is doing so good to Keep that Body in Motion! emoticon

Sorry I haven't been on much but between working so hard. going to the pool and sometimes slow internet, I haven't had much time for Sparkin'.
Tomorrow we have a "Ghoul by the Pool" party with a good musician providing the music. Many like to follow him for the dancing so guess they will hit the dance floor in the Clubhouse and many of us will socialize in the pool. Hrs. are 4 to 7 and we are to take a snack and our own drink. Think we will skip the latter and shower and come home after our swim.
Chuck is playing tennis for several hours in morning and he may be too tired to do much.
We are all in for a temperature change this week-end.. Tampa will be down to 49, temp not seen since early last March. But for one more day we will be hot.
Hope all is going well with teammates!!!

Good morning, everyone!

Sharon, I hope you get to the bottom of your sinus issues. I would think your doc might have some better ideas. I know when I moved here, it seemed there was something I'm really allergic to. It seems a bit better now. I still haven't had the carpets cleaned, but I really need to. I've given up on having different flooring put in since I found that formaldehyde is a big issue for me and probably everything is made with some of it. Anyway, I hope you feel better soon!

Have a great day!

Good Morning Team! Happy Hump Day!

I am so ready for the time change. It is 7 am and still dark outside. The temps are around 60 degrees, perfect for running. I do not plan on running until Sunday. I am slowly starting to feel better each day and do not want a reoccurrence.

Linda, I was looking at something similar that Mary Ellen and Carol told me about, same concept.

I also checked Wake County Air Quality and it is in the yellow. Meaning Ozone and Mold. I started using Herbal Remedy for mold allergies and am thinking of having a home inspection for mold.

I got a lot of shopping done yesterday and mailed in absentee ballots for Nov. elections.

I am enjoying my coffee and almost ready to start my Cardio Workout. My SIS is off on Wednesday's so if I have energy later today, I hope to get out for a walk around the Lake with her.

Wishing you all a Wonderful Happy Day!

Good morning, everyone!

Have a great trip, ME! You always go to such exciting places!

Sharon, hope you can finally shake that sinus stuff. Have you ever tried a neti pot? Is it possible it could be fungal and not bacterial, in which case antibiotics could make it worse. I don't know if there's a way to test for that.

Carol, sounds like things are going well for you in sunny Florida. Great job avoiding that sugar!

I am in the midst of a 6-hour urine collection (woohoo!) to check for heavy metals. I think this will be the last test for awhile. I'm getting hungry, but I'm allowed a "light" meal between hours 2 and 4, which will be soon.

Got out to vote yesterday. Seems like there's a lot of people voting early this time around.

My trivia team won big last night, for the first time in quite a while. I wish we could have gotten a few more questions right and tied our all-time record! It's hard to hear what everyone is saying, and sometimes someone has the right answer and it doesn't make it to the answer sheet.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Linda

Good Morning!

I got a good night sleep last night and slept in this morning. Enjoying my coffee and will get to my exercise soon.

I did get a lot done yesterday but did not make it out to the Grocery Store and PO. I will get out sometime today.

I am still recovering from this lingering sinus cold. I have not run in over three weeks and decided not to do the race this weekend. There will be many more..

Enjoy Your Day!

Good Morning! Happy Monday!

Oh MaryEllen, how exciting about your trip coming up tomorrow. You certainly do have a wonderful social life too. Can't wait to see pictures. Carol, you are doing so great with your no sugar sweets challenge. WOW, making all those cookies and no temptation. Woo Hoo! I wish I were down in FL too. I am not use to being so cold. I think that is why I get sick every Fall here in NC. One Day Hot and another day Cold. Too much of a Roller Coaster. I may have to change my running time to afternoons around 2 PM.

I woke too early this morning with a bad sinus headache and my eyes felt like they were burning. I am done with my antibiotics but still feeling sick, now over three weeks.
I have started taking my Oil of Oregano, Tears eye drops and a steroid nose spray.

I could not get back to sleep so this was a great time to try on my clothes... Yeah, a lot of them I can pack away because they are too big. I brought out my smaller sizes, where most fit now. Some are still a little small but hanging onto them. I am at the high end of my goal range so loosing maybe 5 more pounds, all those skinny clothes will fit again.

Since being sick for so long, I ended up doing lots of internet shopping Sunday. Yikes, watch out. I got my son some running shorts and tops and I got myself some warmer running clothes. I am so use to running in FL with very lightweight clothing.. Time to do some layering here.

Nothing major planned for today except my exercise and then grocery store. Need to stop at PO to mail my voting ballot..

Wishing all a Great Day and stay Healthy.

MaryEllen, you live such an exciting life! Your posts are always so interesting! Too bad we couldn't see a video of your trip as I am sure it will be wonderful.
Food is almost always at the center of any celebration and how nice someone is willing to cook such good food and share.
I have no big plans for today but will be plenty busy. Chuck just said he plans to wash cover for golf cart and it really needs it, so no doubt I will help with that.
Cool enough this morning before sunrise that I will wear a jacket when I walk. First time I pulled one out of the closet. BUT it will be in mid 80's by time I go swimming!
Have a great Monday, Teammates!

Wow, Carol! Sounds like you are "livin' the life!" I wish I had your willpower with those delicious sounding cookies. Why, oh why, do all my activities seem to center around food? Today we celebrated our friend Dick's 91st B-day. Pat made Lasagna, with meatballs and sausage on the side, along with a big salad, garlic bread and pumpkin pie for dessert. It was absolutely delicious! And of course now I am uncomfortably stuffed. UUUgh! I wish I could learn to limit my portions when everything is so darn tasty. sigh! We played cards, which he loves to do, so I think he really enjoyed himself, as we all did.

I am just about all packed for the trip tomorrow. Just some last minute stuff I need to do. I don't leave for the airport till 3pm, so plenty of time to get them all done. The Program Director called me yesterday and reminded me that the 33 pound weight limit for checked bags was only for the flight from Santiago to Easter Island and that we will be returning to the same hotel to begin the rest of the trip that demands warm clothes. We can leave the heavy stuff there and get it on the way back. I had forgotten about that, so was able to pack several more warmer tops. My foot seems to be getting better. I just hope that the babying I have been doing doesn't come back to bite me in the butt when I have to actually hike someplace. I am taking the anti inflammatory and the orthotics really seem to be helping. I did have some pain when simply sitting there. That disturbed me, although I really haven't been doing my stretches like I should. When Edith we here I did just the bare minimum. Probably not a wise thing to have done. I'll keep my fingers crossed, and you all please do the same! I am scheduled to be back on the 15th. Too bad the SPAT only holds 2 weeks of data. I'll be gone 18 days. Hopefully it will have the days of highest activity saved, as ZI htink the hiking will be later in the trip. Just a low of walking in the beginning.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sounds as though much of the eastern part of the country had great weather today.
We have had day after day with no clouds in the sky and temps above 80. Just perfect!
Noticed the sky in Pittsburgh, PA where Steelers were playing and it was a lovely blue. Talked to my sister there and she went on a picnic.
Baked about 6 dozen cookies before going to church since mornings are cool enough to heat oven. Sure would like one with my cup of tea! But nary a crumb entered my mouth. Was a new recipe for oatmeal cookies with raisins, chocolate chips and coconut. I omitted the nuts.
After church we took plates of them to about 10 people.
Spent time in the lovely warm pool in late afternoon, then had big plate of salad topped with ham slivers and cheese, like they used to do a Chef's Salad.
Let;s all get the week off to a good start!!!

Good Morning!

It looks like it is going to be a Beautiful Day! I see temps are in the 50's already and the Sun is Shining.

I got a lot of things done yesterday around the house after my workout routine.

I am still feeling sick? Today is the last day of antibiotics. I have also been using Oil of Oregano which is Natural antibiotic and got an herbal remedy from doctor for mold allergies. I am going to try this on my mother and I. I am not going to attempt running this morning but may meet my SIS at the Lake later this afternoon for a walk.

I may try to go out Monday for a Run. If I can do 7 miles I may sign up for this Half Marathon next Sunday or maybe just the 10K. The time changes Saturday night so we get that hour of extra sleep.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable day!

Well, it's after 10 AM and I did my 30 minute walk and am cleaning a closet. I was supposed to take the day off, but hard to do when you see work to be done. Cooler this morning but walked at 7:30 without a jacket. Warming up and I will head to the pool in afternoon.
Enjoy the week-end, Teammates!!!

emoticon Good Morning Everyone! Happy Saturday!

Last night I enjoyed a cheat meal of Pizza emoticon emoticon and salad. It was Great! Still staying within the Calories..

I need to get out today and buy some grip bars to set up for my mother so she can practice standing up and walk some. Her PT ended Thursday. Unfortunately Medicare only pays for 30 visits a year. I plan to have her still go once a week, self pay, because I really do see the benefits. Hopefully she can get back going in a couple of weeks and hopefully we will be feeling better by then.

Today will be my 45 minute Cardio Routine, Abs and Shoulders & Arms.

WOW MaryEllen, you sure have been busy and sounds like Fun Busy.. Wishing you safe Travels coming up.

Carol, I wish I were in FL too. Temps have been in the 40's. I think my last run temps were in the 40's and I got real sick after that 12.57 miler. I was totally layered too?

The City of Oaks Race is next week. Maybe my body is telling me to skip this one but my heart and soul wants to do it. I have been looking at a Turkey Trot in Wake Forest and Jingle Bell in Dec. somewhere in Cameron Village too. I am looking at some Local Runners Clubs, but I can't do anything until I shake this..

Wishing all a Great Day! Have a Wonderful Weekend!

Sounds as though my Raleigh teammates are keeping busy!
Hope everyone gets to feeling better.
MaryEllen, you certainly covered a lot of territory with your friend. Have a wonderful trip and hope your foot is doing better.
Our granddaughter loves to go to Chile where she made friends with a family and at 16 she traveled there by herself. She made her own school program that year.
Now she is a sophomore in college and preparing to spend next semester studying in several different countries in Europe. I will worry the whole time.
Today I painted ALL day! Chuck can't get down on his knees to work so I took on the job of painting the white brick steps and all of the bricks in the front of house. Not regular bricks, but curved ones with all kinds of roughness to them. I'll never do them again!!!
Tomorrow I plan to take the day off, read and swim!!!

HI there!

I have had a wonderful week! My friend Edith, from New Mexico, just left this afternoon. We had a fantastic time! She arrived late Thursday evening and the next day we went to Bahama Breeze for the Village Ladies Luncheon where she got to meet many of my neighbors. We left from there to drive to Laurinburg NC for the Storytelling Festival. It was really great! I think this is my 4th time attending. Only one of the tellers was a repeat from previous Festivals. There were 4 tellers and they were all great. I especially liked Kim Whitecamp and Bil Lepp. Bil is also an author and he reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy. He is a 4 or 5 time champ of the West Virginia Liars competition. He was a stitch. We came home Sunday night. Monday we went to the Singles luncheon and after a really tasty luncheon of Gumbo and Chili we had a self defense lesson. Very informative, especially since most of us are women. Tuesday we went to Tsau in Cary and had a great lunch and then went to Miller Motte College for a deep tissue massage. Only $45.00 for 60 minutes. Then we went to a financial seminar and got a free dinner at Logan's Steakhouse. Wednesday I had PT and then we went to play cards. Went to Aldi on the way home and then three other Village ladies joined us for ribs at Moonrunners on Hwy 70 in Garner. They are really delicious! From there we went to my Bible Study class. Thursday, we had to stay home because the A/C guy was coming by for the one year inspection of my unit. My one year anniversary of moving into the house is coming up so I needed it done under warranty. My friend from Moncure who knows Edith wanted to get together while she was still here so she came for lunch and after the A/C guy left we were able to take in a movie. Now you can see why I haven't been posting!! I leave on Monday for the Easter Island and Chilean Fjords trip. Won't be back till the 15th. This is the trip where my guide from Antarctica will be the leader. I ran into him in, of all places, Dubrovnik Croatia this past spring and took it that fate wanted us to travel together again, so this is the trip. Fortunately, I don't think Chile or Argentina has any contagious diseases that I need to worry about. With all the garbage going on in the world, I don't know how much more traveling I will be doing. I have one more trip scheduled in March to the Galapagos and after that I think I will lay low till something happens to change the atmosphere and safety of the world outside of Garner!

I hope Linda and Sharon are feeling better by now. Carol I envy your weather, but ours has been pretty darn decent this entire week. Very pleasant indeed! Dryer is buzzing and I have to start packing. I'll try to check in again before I leave.

Good morning, everyone!

Seems like I always have gloomy things to say. Woke up this morning about 4 with a very unhappy tummy. Wondering if maybe I didn't eat enough yesterday, having only an apple and peanut butter for dinner, or if the antibiotics are wreaking havoc. Made some chicken rice soup. I roast a lot of chickens, so I always have some good "bone broth" in my freezer. Added too much rice, but in this case that might be good.

I love a good steak fairly frequently. I can get little grass-fed rib eyes at Trader Joe's. They cook quickly, so I have to watch them carefully.

I think next time I might get an absentee ballot. Seems like it would be easier and I don't think you need a compelling reason to get one anymore. I will probably vote Monday.

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Good Morning Team! TGIF!!

I have been doing the best I can since I have been sick with this Sinus Cold Infection for almost three weeks. All indoor Cardio Workouts and Weight Training emoticon . Weight has been now within my Goal Range for a week now and hopefully will move a little downward to the lower end. emoticon
My husband went out grocery shopping yesterday and we enjoyed a NY Steak meal last night. emoticon I usually by Organic Grass Fed, but just grateful to have a Steak. My husband is not a label reader, but at least he has noticed a difference in Organic Eggs. They are great!

Well, I need to finish my coffee and start that Cardio. Lots of cleaning to do today and need to finish voting absentee ballot for my mother and I.

Wishing all a Great Day!!

Another super day!!! Turned air off and opened house early this morn.
Took my morning walk, then did various jobs, followed by painting for several hours with concrete paint on rough bricks. Quite a challenge.
By 4 PM I was in warm pool and did full hour of exercises. Other ladies floated on noodles and talked - they probably thought I was anti-social - but I did chime in a few times while still counting. No, exercise today was not 10 minutes but more like 220.
Tomorrow I will give 2nd coat to tops of steps which is easy, but the rough bricks across front of house will give me a good work-out.
My weight is staying the same and I eat no sweets. Maybe one of these days I will droop another lb. 6 to go to lowest weight! I'll get there!

Good morning to everyone! I was awake by 3:30 and never got back to sleep. Might put a crimp in my trivia plans for tonight, since this one starts at 8:30. Maybe I can manage a nap at some point. My body, though, loves this weather. Maybe because for some reason I sweat like crazy with little or no provocation. I'm hoping somewhere in all this testing and stuff we might find an answer to this. Glad you're listening to your body, Sharon.

We'll be right down, Carol! emoticon

Good Morning! Happy Thursday!!

Yikes! I just woke up after 8 am and am now enjoying my coffee! I never sleep this late.
I guess being sick, I just needed my Beauty Sleep!

Carol, I really would love to be in FL now. I am beginning to think my body can't take the NC Weather starting in September. Every year since I have been here, I get sick in the Fall? No matter what I do for preventative, I seem to catch everything.

I will be celebrating my 5th Spark anniversary coming up in December. I guess I need to start writing a blog in celebration of it. So much I have learned and many friends I have met.
My weight loss was not overnight. The 2nd time around with Spark People, it has taken almost 2 years to loose the weight I gained after falling of the wagon the 1st time.

Well, got to go finish my coffee so I can start my Cardio Workout. No running for me until I shake this. I ran 12.57 miles a couple of Sunday's ago when I felt like I was coming down with something, and boom, the next day I was totally sick. Listening to my body now.

Wishing all a Great Day! Keep on Sparking! All it takes is 10 minutes...and No Excuses!

Another busy day as we had our first Wed. morning meeting and coffee at the clubhouse. Got my walking in earlier. After lunch we went to Lowe's and Wal-Mart for various things and didn't get to the pool until 5:30. They turned on the heater today so water was warmer than it had been. I exercised my whole body for 1 hour while Chuck exercised his mouth most of that time. Only other man in the pool was known for his talking and poor Chuck was the victim.
Late getting on internet tonight so won't do much. Tired and headed to bed as tomorrow, after walking, I am going to paint brick steps.
Have a great Thursday!

Thanks, Sharon! Thought of you as I was driving around N. Raleigh picking up some supplements and the pill I need to take before the heavy metals test. I think I will stop after that one for awhile! Was confused by some of the forms in the Lyme test kit. Hope I filled out everything I needed to. I think I'll call or email the lab and give them a heads-up in case they need anything else.

I am at the highest weight I have been in a very long time. My doc is very fond of legumes, especially lentils, and ever some grains. I feel they are not good for me, especially when eaten with enough fat to satisfy me. I think I need to cut them out or at least limit them. They may even make me hungrier. Sigh.

Good morning, everyone! Off shortly to have blood drawn to send to the special Lyme lab. After reading all the instructions, I'm now nervous that my insurance may not cover this. I have a kit to take into the lab doing the draw. Medicare can be very complicated, and I have an Advantage plan. It's not clear that they will cover it, but they haven't kicked back any of the other stuff from a special lab. Thanks for those healing thoughts. Sharon! Wish me luck, and have a great day!

emoticon emoticon Good Morning All! emoticon emoticon

I do love this weather too! The only thing I don't like is, I seem to get sick every year at this time since I came back to NC.

Today I plan to do a 45 minute Cardio on the Beaches of Hawaii and then 15 minute Abs and Shoulders and Arms using 3-5 lb. hand weights. Usually Wednesday afternoons I meet my SIS at the Lake for a 4-6 mile walk. I miss doing that since I have been sick.. Maybe I can get out for a short distance today, just to get outside. I still really would like to do that Half Marathon 11/2. This weekend I will make my decision. Have until 10/29 to sign up.

Carol, I wish I was in FL right now too! I heard the temps are absolutely beautiful. Usually we did not have cooler temps until February in Tampa Bay. Happy to hear you are getting in a lot of your pool exercises.

MaryEllen, Are you now on your Wonderful Travels? I hope you are doing great!

Bobbie, so Happy to hear about your workouts and running. It certainly does pay to listen to your body.

Sarah, Enjoy the outdoors. Yes, the weather is so nice. Are you still doing any running or plans to run any future races?

Linda, sending you healing thoughts your way.

Please if you see any Events of any interest, please do post on the Event Thread. I saw there is a Turkey Trot in Wake Forest and also a Jingle Bell Run at Cameron Village. I will try to get the link to post.

After my morning walk, I scrubbed two chairs that go outside. Did a few more things and then it was time for Ladies Luncheon which was really nice. I had a Greek Salad that also had a Spinach/Feta sandwich on phyllo dough. Excellent! (can't remember spelling)
Went to Clubhouse to get a little Sparkin' done and now I am still online, but rather slow.
We get the reddest, most gorgeous sunsets here and Chuck and I just marveled at it tonight.
I am starting a new book, haven't read one in a long while.
Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!!!

Good Morning!

emoticon I sure am looking forward to the time change. It is still very dark outside. Finishing my Cinnamon Spice Coffee.. emoticon

I am still recovering from a sinus cold infection, so it has been no running for over 2 weeks.
I have been very consistent with completing my 12 week challenge. Some Cardio and weight training.

I will be taking my mother for her acupuncture this afternoon and hopefully pick up her remaining antibiotic order after.

Wishing all a Great Day! Stay Healthy and Keep on Sparking!

Well, it's after midnight and now I am wide awake and WiFi is working well. Wonder if I can make a cup of tea without waking DH.
I had no idea your temps dipped so low! Son called me from Lake House Sat. morn while he was sitting on deck enjoying his coffee (which he rarely drinks) and said they would go out in boat later for some water sports.
Our temps are still running in mid to high 80's and we are loving it. Hated to miss the pool yesterday but just too busy cleaning.
Today I am going to Ladies Luncheon in Sebring and am already wondering what I will order. We do eat a great variety of healthy foods and I rarely miss eating at least 5 fruits and vegetables daily. Love those veggies!!! I am not thin, never have been, and thank God for keeping both of us so healthy. DH is lucky as he can eat whatever he wants and has never had any weight problem. Very muscular for a man his age.
When I got flu shot, I was surprised when nurse couldn't believe how much muscle was in my arm. Told her that's what water aerobics does for me! (and hard work)
Have a Terrific Tuesday, everyone!!!

Since I have been able to get my WiFi from the clubhouse (if I sit at dining room table) I make use of it. Next month we should have free WiFi in the whole resort.
Anyway, it is better in the morning or after 9 PM. DH and I worked so hard cleaning the FL room, I was too tired to stay up past 8:30, so went to bed at 8:30 and got up at 11 PM to Spark. Better hurry as I just have 12 minutes left!
Will read everyone's posts after midnight. Hope my teammates are all doing well.

Good Afternoon! Woke up for good at 10:30 after having woken up the first time at 3:30. Decided to take something to sleep more so I'll be awake for trivia tonight. Not something I like to do, but I felt it was necessary.

Sharon, do you have more info on your integrative doc? You can sparkmail me if you don't wanna put it out there. I'd really like to see someone with an integrative/alternative perspective if possible, considering I have all these issues now and hate going to multiple specialists. Your chicken parm sounds great! I'll have to try something like that if I can find a good breading that is gluten-free and will stick. Looking forward to adding eggs back into my diet to see if they have any bad effects. Not sure when my 3 months are up, but it should be within another month or so.

Wishing everyone a great day!

Good Morning!

Great Morning to sleep in! emoticon I must of slept around 9 hours last night. I see frost on the ramp railings this morning.. Temps dropped in the 30's!

I am finally getting my appetite back. Last night I made a Chicken Parmesan, Gluten Free and had a small salad with it. It was so good.

Yesterday, I also got the remaining Halloween Decorations out! emoticon

After my coffee, I plan to do a Cardio Classic, Chest & Back and 15 minute Abs. I love doing my workout first thing in the mornings. This is my me time. I usually don't have time for anything else, caring for my mother. I may have to move running to the early afternoons though, we shall see. If I am well enough, I will get out and run this weekend. This will be deciding factor about upcoming Half Marathon.

Wishing all a Great Day!

Good Morning Team! Happy Sunday!

Got a Great Night Sleep last night except waking once to attend to my mother. emoticon
I see temps are in the 40's.. Burrrrrrrrr....
Enjoying my coffee emoticon , took a sinus caplet hoping this sinus headache will go away.

Linda, my Integrative Doctor is also a Primary Care Doctor. I am not sure why insurance won't cover things like this. In FL I went to Clearwater Natural Medicine and I had to pay more, but Insurance did cover the visits, just not the Supplements. I guess if it is not FDA approved, insurance won't pay. I don't trust the FDA because just watch these drug companies advertise on TV the warnings. If they have warnings like that, why are they being sold on the market? I guess if it is on the warning label the drug manufacturer can't be sued. My cousin in NY died this year at the age of 57. It was a new medication he was put on that caused a heart attack... I have been getting my mother off most drugs and she has been doing so much better physically and mentally. I am beginning to think elderly patients get dementia and Alzheimer's from the medications they are prescribed in their drug cocktail.
I love Oil of Oregano. When I take it and hold it under my tongue, I can feel it's power working. I also read Oil of Thyme is good.
It's been a couple of weeks since I last went out running. 12.57 miles. I hope I start feeling better. If I can get out this weekend and maybe run 9 miles, and this cold is gone, I plan to sign up for that race. If not, I plan to run.
One of my Spark Friends who use to work for Spark People, Coach Nancy's dog has cancer. I am participating in a Memorial Run in the name of Brooklyn, same day as my race, Nov. 2nd. She is Running the NYC Marathon that day. That was always one of her goals to do. So even if I am unable to run my Half Marathon, I am planning on Running in the name of Brooklyn.
I am on the last two weeks of my 12 week challenge. I have lost over 12 lbs. since I started 8/4. Those last 10 lbs. took almost a year to get off. Now entering the hard part of my journey called maintenance.

Got to go! I hope to do a quick Cardio this morning and maybe 15 Minute Abs.

Happy Sunday morning, everyone! I have no idea why I've been waking up ridiculously early lately, except that seem to fall asleep way too early these days. Must try to stay up a bit later. I enjoy reading about all your exploits.

It's been a difficult week. Woke up Monday morning with A-fib, which never went away all day. It's scary when your heart doesn't cooperate! Took it easy all day but ventured out to trivia, where I was immediately drenched in sweat for the whole night. I upped my anti-thyroid meds, but It kept up Tuesday and left me really tired on Wed. I think it's under control now.

Hope you got the sinuses under control, Sharon. Do you like your integrative doc? I wish I could find one that takes insurance! All the good functional docs around totally opt out of it, which I can understand, but it makes things really expensive. I think maybe colloidal silver is something I should have on hand. There is also oregano oil and olive leaf extract for powerful natural antibiotics.

Glad your weather has been great, Carol. Sounds like you're really enjoying FL.

Hope your allergies are better, Bobbie. I've been a bit stuffy myself. I never used to have allergies but seem to have developed some.

Have a great day!

Hi, I really think allergies are bad in most states! Back in PA I was sent to specialist in Pittsburgh and was diagnosed with asthma. They say you never get rid of asthma and I did have to doctor for years after moving to NC, but now I have NO sign of it. I do get red, itchy eyes and sneeze a lot when in NC and attribute that to allergies. Right now, my eyes are itchy and watering in FL. Just try to win!
Hope you gals get to feeling better and back to running in this wonderful weather I hear you are having.
DH and I enjoyed the pool once again when only a few people were there. He water walks while I do my aerobics. Now I'm tired and going to bed early.
Enjoy the week-end. We will listen to Joel Osteen before going to church in the morning.

Hi!

Bobbie, I hope you have a Wonderful Run tomorrow. You have been doing great listening to your body during your recovery. I decided to wait and may run later next week when I am done with antibiotics. I will have to try heat packs, sounds like a great idea.

I have been resting most of the day since my workout this morning. I had to pick up my mother's antibiotics earlier, but that is it. I think it will be an early night for me.

Fall is in the air and my allergies are feeling it. Dug out the Flonase only to find it empty, I am going to have to call the Dr on Monday and get a script called in. I took some Benadryl to help with the runny nose and my itchy, watery eyes. But now I just want to sleep.

Calves seem to be healed but the real test will come tomorrow when I am supposed to run 8 miles.

I have been doing a lot better with my eating the past few days but I despise tracking food. The exercise part is easy, I just start and stop my app.

I think what has helped again is I am making sure I get my power drink in. My power drink is 6 oz fresh brewed green tea (I use a family bag because I pour the tea immediately into my 20 oz cup that I filled with ice) , 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp raw honey and 1 scoop vanilla whey protein...It is pretty power packed with protein 30 g and 230 calories. It seems to kill my nighttime cravings and gives me a little bit of a boost mid afternoon when I really need it. I was drinking two a day for a while but other than my bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, I wasn't eating. It completely killed my appetite, so I cut back to one.

Sharon, have you used any hot packs on your face to help break up some of the congestion and relieve some pressure. And it is funny that you said something about the state. When I first moved down here my new physician told me that NC is one of the worst states for allergy sufferers.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Good Morning All!

I slept good last night. Enjoying my coffee and reading my Spark People, E-mails and FB.
I hope to do a 45 minute Cardio Workout DVD and then some 15 minute Abs. Still resting trying to get over sinus infection.

I will be going out to pick up my mother's antibiotics later. I just hope my husband does not catch this. I never got sick when living in FL. Not sure what it is here in NC, but every Fall, Boom.. Sinus/ Cold Infection. I think I am allergic to something here in this State. Maybe I need to head back down to my good old town of Safety Harbor, FL... I think Mary Ellen and Carol mentioned high Mold in the Fall. I am going to ask my doctor about this. I did see mushrooms in our grass?

Wishing all a Great Day! Some much going on with the Fair going on.

I'm sleepy but still trying to "Spark" with my slow internet.
Glad you are having such nice weather in NC as ours could not be better in FL. Can't remember when I've heard of humidity down to 39% while temp is 85 and supposedly feels like 84.
Not a cloud in the blue sky today.
Got in both my walking and water aerobics, reason I am tired tonight.
Didn't get to record my food, but ate salty things today. Now I need to drink a lot of water to flush out the sodium!
Still eating a lot of fruits and veggies and really enjoying them.
Talk later, Carol

Good Morning Team!

Another Beautiful Day here in NC. It is still dark outside but saw temps are in the 50's.
Carol, so happy the cooler weather got down to you also. It is so nice to have a cool down in the evening and early morning and warming up with clear blue skies and the Sun Shining!
I heard it will be nice here all through the weekend. I hope I will feel well enough to go out for a run by Sunday.
I will be taking my mother to her doctor today, hopefully get some meds that will make her feel better.
In a bit I plan to do a Cardio Workout and Hips Thighs Buns, Chest Back and maybe 15 minute Abs.
I will be celebrating my 5th Spark Anniversary coming up in December. I guess I better take time to sit down and write a blog to share.

Wishing all a Great Day!

Today is the most perfect weather day anyone could ever ask for!!! Down to 65 at night and up to 81 with very low humidity.
Timer just rang for me to leave for a haircut - long overdue!
When I get back I will head to pool to do my water aerobics. Yesterday I had pool to myself most of the time. There were just a few clouds that seemed to keep folks out.
We are making good progress getting everything done so we can enjoy the winter. We live on the main street where everyone comes in with motor homes or fifth wheels and they all stop to talk to DH as he works out there.
Our house was washed, DH painted shutters and I helped him put them back up.
Gotta run for haircut, talk later!

Good Morning Team!

My son left yesterday afternoon to head back to FL. His flight was delayed, but only for an hour. I felt bad that my mother and I was sick the whole time of his visit. I just hope he does not catch anything. My husband took him to get his flu shot, something he never does on his own.

My doctor has me on antibiotics, so hopefully this will knock out this sinus infection. I will be taking my mother to her doctor on Friday.

I see temps outside are in low 50's. Burrrrrr.....

Carol, I am thinking of you down in Sunny FL. I always love reading about your water aerobics and adventures. Enjoy the cooler temps while it lasts.

I bet Mary Ellen is getting ready to take off for her travel adventures. I hope you have a wonderful time and am looking forward in reading all about it.

Bobbie, sending you healing thoughts and Sarah, keep on Sparking!
Linda, thinking of you. I hope your recovery is coming along fine and Willitwork, I hope one day our paths cross on the trails!

Wishing all a Wonderful Day!

Hi from Frostproof, FL! We did get some rain late Tues. and today was lovely. Humidity is going very low by tomorrow and the next 7 to 10 days should be wonderful with temps between 81 and 85 with dew points in the low 40's.
Water in pool is perfect for me to get my water aerobics done. I should be working to get house all ready for winter but decided I would put exercise first. Have been walking every morning, too.
Sharon, did doctor give you meds for sinus infection?
Talk later, Carol

Good morning team! Happy Wednesday!

We got a lot of rain last night and I think it is still raining. We are expecting a cold front to move through this morning. I hope it passes real quick.. My son flies back to FL later this afternoon.

I went to my doctor yesterday, and I do indeed have a sinus infection. I need to get my mother into see her doctor since I caught this from her. We both caught it from her physical therapist whom has a young son who caught it at day care. Lovely sick people don't stay home. This happened to me last year and I was sick from September through December..

I have not signed up for this Half Marathon coming up November 2nd. I am trained for it and just like the last one I did Sept. 20th, I was grounded from running three weeks out. A forced taper and did so much better than expected? I am still thinking of signing up for this one. I think we get an extra hour sleep, daylight savings time that weekend.

I hope the weather in FL is storm free. I have friends in Alabama where there was a lot of tornado's.

Wishing all a nice dry day!

Got lots to do but will write a line.
When we were kids (70 years ago) my parents always rubbed our chests with Vick's, put us in bed with a quart of water beside us and we were to drink it in allotted time. Must have worked as we never went to the doctor.
Sharon, hope you do get straightened out soon as it is miserable to feel so lousy.
Do you drink OJ frequently? Get those natural vitamins.
Sarah, so glad you had nice visit with grandmother. It is not a goal of mine to reach that age, but who knows. Is she in good health mentally and physically?
Hope Bobbie feels better, too.
Pool was great yesterday and hope I can get back today, but rain may come in this PM.
Talk later, Carol

Good Morning Team! Happy Tuesday!

I got a good night sleep last night. That Vicks on the feet must have worked for my mother. I also put it on here chest and neck. She still has some of the hacking, but not as much. I am so surprised a small woman like her can be so loud with that coughing, hacking. Thank you for recommending it.

I was going to get up at 6 am but turned off my alarm clock and slept later. My doctor appointment is today with Integrative Doctor. I am sick of being sick and especially while my son is visiting. He goes back to FL Wednesday afternoon.

This Ebola news is getting more and more scarier every day. I get the Natural News newsletter, by Mike, the Health Ranger, in Texas. His newsletter has great tips to keep your immune system strong. Have any of you tried Collide Silver? Not sure if I spelt it right.

Well, since I have not run at all since last Sunday, over a week ago, I have been doing my Cardio DVD's and weight training. My weight increased after that birthday cake but is now down to 125.2. Goal 125. My weight goal range is 117- 125.. Let's just say I am doing the Happy dance. Now the real challenge is to maintain this, especially during the Holiday's and Winter NC Season.

Welcome Back Sarah! We missed you! Sounds like you had a great time visiting your 102 Grandmother. WOW! I hope is doing great!

Got to go get this Body in Motion now. Have a Great Day!!

Hi everyone. I'm back! I had a wonderful visit with my grandmother. She is 102 and an amazing woman. I wish I could see her more often. I would have been in touch but she lives in a cellular black hole. Well now I am home and it is time to get back at it! Have a great day everyone!

I have heard of Vicks on the feet and people say it does work. Must remember to tell my PA friend about that as she gets a pesky cough often.
It is sunny and 86 at 2:30 PM. In 1/2 hr. we will head to the pool.
Went for groceries this morning and 5 hrs. later had everything put away. Never before did I furnish a kitchen from almost zero! Chuck was a big help.
Aldi's had big beautiful Butternut Squash for $1.19 each so I got 3. Also got nice spaghetti squash for same price. Acorns were too small to suit me as I don't think they have the flavor.
Gala apples were lovely at 3 lbs. for $2.19 and pears were 2 lbs. for $1.29. Much better buys than other stores.
Better don my swimsuit and head 6 doors down the street.
Sharon, I agree about ill people staying home - or they could wear a mask especially when working with others.
ME, I think you should have a birthday party for your house - maybe celebrate from some other part of the world! So glad you got the good builder!!!
Hope Bobbie is recuperating and will soon be back to all of her activities!
And where is Sarah on her vacation? Or is she telling?
Guess what! I got the clubhouse internet from my living room. Hear it will be about 1 month before Free WiFi in the whole park, so I don't want to sign up elsewhere for that month.
Talk later, Carol

Just a quickie here, but Sharon, have you tried Vicks on Mom's feet to stop the coughing? I know it sounds really weird, but People's Pharmacy readers have had remarkable results with that remedy. Check them out online, probably Peoplespharmacy.com but I'm not sure.

Good Morning Team! Happy Monday!

Carol, I am so happy you made it down to FL safely. I can't wait to hear about all your activities planned. I do miss the Fresh Fruits and Veggies. I use to grow Grapefruits and Lemons in my backyard. Also, had lots of luck with Pineapples.

Mary Ellen, Happy almost 1 year anniversary in your house. Sounds like a wonderful active neighborhood. So happy to hear that you have not required many repairs etc., during that 1st year too. Do you leave this next weekend for your trip?

Bobbie, sending you healing thoughts your way! I am so proud of your determination and listening to your body during that 5 K. Woo Hoo! emoticon

Sarah, I miss you! I hope you are having a great vacation!

I am just waking up! Last night was rough... I could hear my mother hacking almost every hour, so I did not get a good night sleep. Now at 8am she is so silent? emoticon .
I will make my mother a doctor appointment, she has been sick for 2 weeks now and I have mine Tuesday. I do have a sinus infection. One of my mothers physical therapists was sick a few weeks ago and have not seen her since. Yes, I think we were exposed once again. I just wish people would stay home when infected.

I hope my son does not catch anything. I have not been able to do all the things I wanted to do with him between bad weather and being sick. I am just happy he is here. He goes back to FL Wednesday. I sure wish we could live in FL and Raleigh, that would be the life.....

Wishing all a Great Day!

Carol, looks like you left just in the nick of time as our temps have dropped and today it either rained or was a fine mist all day long. We had about 1.5 inches of rain in the past 2 days. The fresh fruit and veggies sound wonderful! How I miss those tree sweetened oranges we got in California.

I found the marbles I was looking for at Target. I want to use them for PT on the trip as they are easy to pack. Now I know why they didn't have them at Dollar Tree. I paid $4.00 for 50 marbles and 2 shooters! Who would have thought they'd be that high? Certainly not I!

Today was a really down time day for me. I went to breakfast as usual after Mass and came home and did virtually nothing in the way of exercising. I did 2 lessons for my Bible Study, as I know I won't have time when Edith is here to prepare for next week's class. And then I'll miss the next three classes. I'll make it back for the very last class. Then I think we'll do some sort of Advent Devotional, as Christmas will be right around the corner.

I will be in the house for 1 year on the 14th of November. Since I will be traveling on that day I guess I need to get the punch list to the builder this coming week. There's not much he needs to attend to. He did a really great job building it. There are three builders here that build the houses. Two of them are really good with great attention to detail. The other one, well, not so much. I lucked out and got a good one. My next door neighbor was not so lucky. She has a multitude of problems, and he tells her she's "being too picky". For the last year she's had no heat or air in her bedroom that is at the back of the house. He insisted that it was because the house was "so big" the heat just didn't get back there. She has the second to smallest house of 7 offered, so in comparison it is not that big and those of us with bigger models have no problem. After her year was up she called an HVAC guy who took one look at the system and promptly fixed the problem. You really have to be on top of things. And maybe it has something to do with her being a single, older woman? Anyway, I'm glad I got the guy I got. They are building the last 3 houses right across the street from me. We will all be so happy when all that builder traffic is done. The last house is set to close the middle of January. Four of the last 5 houses are for single women, so our Singles Group will really expand. Our section of the street is teeming with us! Nice that we can watch out for each other.

Sharon I hope this weather hasn't delayed your recovery any. I noticed earlier today that everything outside smelled moldy. Cant' be good for a sinus problem. On the plus side, you probably can't smell it! So all those overhead clouds DO have a silver lining!

emoticon

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Arrived at our resort at 11 AM and spent the rest of the day unpacking and cleaning.
Chuck worked hard in the heat to get the golf cart cleaned up and running like a charm.
Since we had not eaten a hot meal for about 4 days we showered and went out for liver 'n onions and lots of veggies from the salad bar as well as baked potato, cooked cabbage and green beans. I was really veggie deprived! (Brought the meat and potato home)
Then stopped at orange juice plant for a gallon of fresh OJ, peppers, tomatoes, plums, tangerines and an avocado. Going to stop again tomorrow for a watermelon. All at good prices, too. We love our fresh fruits and veggies!
We thank God for a wonderful trip down I-95. All went well.
Temps were as high as 93 in the last 2 days.
Talk later, Carol

Good Morning Team! emoticon Back to Cooler Fall like Temps..

I feel like this Fall the weather has been on a roller coaster.

I woke up early with a horrible sinus head ache, so I went ahead and got up and took my medicine and had some cinnamon spice coffee. First cup was very spicy since I dropped the spice bottle in my coffee. Maybe that cinnamon will offset the sugar I had from that cake last night.

I hope to do some Cardio DVD's and weights, Shoulders & Arms. Since I have not been feeling well, I may also do that You-tube indoor walk/ running workout. All I can say is WOW, and I did the low impact way instead of HITI.

Wishing all a Wonderful Day! Keep that Spark going!!
