Well, another lovely morning! Wondering whether I should cancel the brunch. For some reason, I thought it would be warmer today...I would check with everyone, but I know some of them are late risers. I just looked outside, and it seems the cars are icing over. I don't know how much improvement there will be by early afternoon. I think I'll send an email and see what the awake ones think!

Everybody have a nice Sunday and stay warm and dry! This is really getting old!

Another day of rain and gloom down here! But at least the rain held off for the Church Auction which Chuck, Kathy and I all worked from 8 AM to 1:30, then off to a birthday party to have ice cream and wonderful fresh strawberries. I've just kind of set my diet aside and have been eating a few sweets, which are my downfall.
Oh, I need a good night's sleep and here I am Sparkin' at 11 PM. That's because we played Phase 10 tonight when we had our neighbor in to join us.
Tomorrow is church and we hope an outdoor Art Show, but may be too wet for that. And all three of us have to do our Bible Study work as it is at 6 PM. Not enough hours in the day for us!!!
ME won't see this, but I hope she has a great trip.
Sharon, do hope that birthday luncheon went well. With the terrible weather you have been having, I wonder that you could get your mother outdoors. And I do understand about the elder care.
Have a Happy Sunday, teammates!!!

Looking for the March thread, but can't find it. This is my last post before my trip. Weather in Ecuador is nothing but rain, rain and more rain. Glad I don't melt, but I may look like a drwoned rat in any pictures! Fortunately I got my haircut in.

Sharon, hope Mom;s lunch went well. I don't think anyone appreciates the work involved if they've not done it themselves or been the recipient. Hopefully Mom is appreciative and you are getting some help from your DH. I know it's a chore.

Carol, when do you return? Don't hurry on our account! The weather speaks for itself. In fact I am going to try to beat this new storm by leaving here before 3am. The shuttle from the hotel leaves at 4. I just want to be sure I get there in one piece. If the flight is delayed I checked and there is another to Quito about 5pm, so the delay can be dealt with and still get me there in time to join the tour. Here's to a great trip! I'll be back on the 17th.

Happy Saturday!

Dragged my trash bin out yesterday since it actually had some stuff in it for a change. I recycle so much that I usually sneak one small bag of trash into a neighbor's bin. Figured I already had my hiking boots on so I went out to Trader Joe's right across the street. Made the left turn onto Cary Pkwy and the right lane was really backed up. Managed to turn into the parking lot when other cars moved to the left lane. I think there was an accident ahead. But I am now well-supplied. Some cooking is in order! Need to make my "fauxtatoes" from that cauliflower I got recently.

Sorry about all your aggravation, Sharon. Hope all goes well with your celebration, I can only imagine how difficult things can get for you.

Planned a rather impromptu brunch for tomorrow when I got an email from Greg's (our trivia host) fiancee yesterday that they were free and ready to brunch! We're trying Harvest 18 near Southpoint. Same guys who do 18 Seaboard and Cantina 18 in Raleigh. I've heard good things and they do fresh local food. Hoping the roads will be in good shape.

Wishing you all a happy, safe, warm weekend!

Good Morning! Happy Saturday and Last Day of February!

I only hope this is the last of bad weather- Snow and Cold.

I did get out yesterday for my hair appointment and grocery shopping. During all the mess, my husband did most of the shopping so, I had to replenish a lot of my Organic foods that he does not buy. Out of all the grocery stores I have been to, Kroger seems to have the best selection. I was disappointed though, because they did not have their Organic Chicken Breast out.. Main reason why I go there. They had a special on hormone, antibiotic free chicken. I bet you, they removed their Organic to promote what they have on special this week. I could not get my mother out and will be rescheduling her hair appointment later.

My siblings decided they wanted to get together for my mothers birthday lunch instead of dinner. Now this puts a lot of stress on my mother and I getting her ready. I have to wash her hair and bath her and that takes time. I am so disappointed on this short notice. My biggest concern is getting her down the ramp. It gets very icy and I don't want to fall. If I had known earlier, I could of washed her hair yesterday... They honestly have no idea what it is like to care for an elder parent.. Sorry, I had to vent a bit..

Carol, I wish I had time for some baking. All your goodies sound so good.
Thanks Linda for the well wishes. My back is finally feeling good. Just took muscle relaxant at night now. I will try to go without tonight.
Mary Ellen, the time has really slipped by. Have a wonderful time on your travels. Really looking forward in hearing all about it.
Betsy, you sure had an easy week back to work. Wishing you the best on this coming week.. I hope all goes well.

Wishing all a great day!

Was cold and rainy today. Sat at game for a while, but got so cold we left to go to bank. Returned to game complex just in time to have our lunch.
Missed my computer class.
Made 5 lbs. of chocolate fudge to take to church auction/silent auction. Then went in evening to work but most things were done. So got home and was a big job to cut fudge and place in little containers, weigh each, and label and price them.
Just think, it is the last day iof February!!!
Talk later!

Happy Friday morning, ladies! Hope you're all staying warm and dry!

Sharon, they say to expect considerable melting today, so you'd probably be OK keeping your appointment at that time of day, assuming there's not a lot to navigate before you hit the actual roads. I think I need to venture out in search of food, considering how cold it will be tonight.

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Good Morning! TGIF!

I heard the roads are not too good to travel on this morning. I was hoping to make it to my hair appointment with my mother. Still not sure what it will be like. Appointment is at 1 pm. I was thinking of rescheduling my mothers and maybe keeping mine, just not sure what to do yet..

I think my back is finally on the mend. I did take a muscle relaxant at bedtime and nothing during the day. I am starting to feel better. Will still take a rest day so I don't aggravate it. Sounds like we maybe on a gradual warming trend so I hope to get out for my long run on Sunday or maybe Monday. I may do a run walk..

ME, glad you were able to get things done before all this snow. Thinking of you and your exciting upcoming travels.
Thanks Linda! Slowly feeling better. Wishing you the Best on your upcoming cruise..
Carol, enjoy every moment! I saw the temps are perfect in FL. I wish I were there. Isn't the Strawberry Festival going on about now? My friends ran the Gasparilla Long Distance this past weekend. Sure miss all the fun..

Wishing all a great day and weekend! I am looking forward to Spring!!

Just a brief line as we had wonderful entertainment tonight and I'm running late. Has been a very busy day!
Must get up early to leave with DH for his last ball game in Winter Haven. My sister will go also and see this 82 yr. old play ball. They are treating us with lunch at the field.
Hope I am home by 1 PM to attend my computer class.
You are all very busy and handicapped by the weather. Hope you get everything done and get life back to normal.
ME, have a great trip. Our son just returned from SA where it was quite warm.
Wish I could get off the muscle relaxer, but not ready for that yet. Good Luck, Sharon.
And Linda, hope all works out for your cruise!
Good Night, Teammates!!!

Hope everyone got through the snow all right. First time they've actually plowed my road, and it threw up big chunks right in front of my parking space. I went out and cleared my car, broke up the biggest chunks and ran my car back and forth a few times. I feel like I'll be able to get out if I need to.

Sharon, good luck with the break from the muscle relaxants. Happy Birthday to your mom yesterday and hope you enjoy your celebration dinner on Saturday.

ME, sorry to hear about your ear infection, and it's very good you found it before you have to fly. I have a sort of chronic thing in my right ear where I can tell there's still some fluid behind the eardrum from an old illness, and flying last April had a few excruciating moments. Hope you have a great time on your trip. Did you know one of Ecuador's claims to fame is making Panama hats? Yeah, I know, doesn't sound right!

Carol, enjoy your balmy temps. Daniel lives in Port Richey, so he's getting the warmth, too.

Here's to a quick snow melt!

Good afternoon!

WOW! Did we get a lot of snow! Carol, you are so lucky not to be here in this cold mess.
Mary Ellen! So Happy you were able to get some things done yesterday. Sorry to hear about your ear infection, but happy you had it looked at prior to your travels.

Yesterday was my mother's 85th Birthday. Small celebration at home but looking forward to the weekend when we go out for her Birthday Dinner with family.

I am trying to go without muscle relaxant today to see how I do. My back is still stiff so I am only doing stretches. I have gained some weight, I think from the medications.. Amazing how long it takes to loose and just within a few days how easy it is to gain...

Wishing all a Happy Thursday! Be Warm and Be Safe!

Hadn't heard about your latest snow storm on the way! So sorry! This is getting a bit ridiculous, isn't it? Like the sub-zero temps up north, the kids are missing a lot of school and that plays havoc with the education system in many ways.
We traveled to Punta Gorda to meet two sisters, ate at Fisherman's Village, shopped a bit, then returned home bringing one sister to spend two weeks with us. Kathy also had friend from PA stop by for visit as she had re-located to Punta Gorda years ago.
Hope you all are keeping warm!

Just got in from a Church event. It is starting to sleet and the temp is dropping. Glad I made it home before it hit the fan!

I had an appointment with an ENT today. They delayed opening till 10 am and I was so glad that the 2pm appointment seemed to fall in that lovely window of dry roads. I thought I had maybe some packed ear wax or something as it was so badly blocked up. He took one look and said I had a massive infection! No pain whatsoever! He cleared out the ear and gave me a Rx for drops and sent me on my way! So glad I had it checked before flying as I'd always heard that you do NOT want to fly with an ear infection.

Then it was about 2:40 or so and it the roads were still clear and dry so I called my hairdresser. She works out of her home, and since the appointment was changed from Tuesday to Thursday and it was looking like Thursday was going to be a washout too, I asked her if I could swing over to her place in about 45 minutes. She was more than happy to have me come today and not tomorrow, so that got done as well. All that's left is to pray that we don't lose power tonight! I am so ready for Spring!

One of my guides for the Ecuador trip called yesterday. He will do the Quito and the Amazon portion of the trip and another guide will do the Galapagos portion. She called earlier in the week but I wasn't home so she left a message. OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel) is really good about the perks they give to their repeat customers, like a conversation with the guides before the trip, that affords you the opportunity to ask questions. I'm starting to get excited!

Linda, playing the price guessing game is always nerve wracking! But if Daniel is a premium customer they will make sure he is taken care of. And you can tag along on his shirttails!

Sharon, this is the perfect opportunity with the crummy weather to let your back rest up and heal. Take advantage of it. Don't go out there and start shoveling snow either! Just rest. Your body will thank you for it.

Everybody, stay warm and safe.

Well, happy new snow storm, everyone (except Carol, who is escaping it!)! Sounds like this one might actually have some accumulation. Very happy the last little one didn't come with ice. The Harris Teeter at Crescent Commons was so crazy busy that I had to park about a mile away! I never would have gone if I didn't have to pick up a prescription.

Yes, ME, I'm excited about the cruise. Daniel is trying to play it cool and wait for prices to come down before booking, while I'm tearing my hair out, since they only seem to be going up right now and final payment is way past and apparently that's when they tend to drop. If it doesn't work out, we'll take another ship over. Two more are going out of Tampa at a similar time.

Glad you're taking it easy, Sharon. sounds like your body is trying to tell you you need a little rest!

Hope everyone stays safe and warm!

Good afternoon! Sounds like we are in for another big storm. As they have been saying, round 2... All I can say is I hope it comes and goes quickly. I don't want to miss our hair appointment on Friday. Already moved it from last week.

Mary Ellen, I hope you are able to get all the things done that you need to do before you start traveling, hair appointment included.

Carol, so happy to hear you are feeling better.. I sure wish I were in FL. You certainly are living the best of both worlds.

Still recovering from my lower back pain. Realistically, I will probably take off this whole week. Back Pain and Weather are good enough reasons for me. And the muscle relaxants just make me so drowsy. Best sleep ever though.

Today is my mother's 85th Birthday! We plan to celebrate with Family Saturday.

Wishing all a Great Day! Stay Warm and Safe!

Boy, lots to catch up on here. I must have checked the box to not get daily updates so I have been in the dark for a while.

Sharon, I hope you, your Mom and I, can all three get our haircuts in! I was supposed to go last Tuesday and we changed it to today. And today we changed it to Thursday. Now that's looking doubtful. I leave on Sunday and If I don't get it done before then, I may have a neighbor trim up the back and I'll have a go at the top and see what happens!

Carol, so glad you are feeling more human finally! It's been a long haul of not feeling up to par. Those muscle relaxers can carry a big punch. I have a muscle relaxer from something like 2008 that I keep with my travel meds "just in case". Well several weeks ago my back was really acting up and I could not find them to take that night. The next morning I remembered that I had them in my travel bag. Despite the label telling me to take them at night, I foolishly took them on Sunday morning. I almost didn't make it home from Mass without falling asleep at the wheel, I was so tired! I went to bed and slept for something like 5 hours! And I slept like a baby the whole night as well! I think it was generic for Flexeral or something like that. Knocked me on my butt, that's for sure!

Linda, how exciting about that cruise! I've never done transatlantic before. Always flew over and back. I know several who have gotten fantastic rates on the repositioning cruises on the Queen Mary and they have really enjoyed it. I'm sure you will find lots to amuse yourself.

Here's hoping we don't lose power. When we were served by Progress Energy and lost power we usually got back online in a few days at the most. And the radio and TV would always report that Duke Energy would have people back up in a week or so. I always felt sorry for Duke customers and a bit smug about the efficiency of Progress Energy. Now we are Duke and I just dread the thought of relying on them to get us back and running. I brought in my nice LED lantern from the garage so it will be handy in the event that ice starts pulling down wires and leaving us in the dark. A few hours ago WRAL had listed 293 closings or delays for tomorrow. They are now up to 672! So far my ear appointment practice is on a 2 hour delay. Bet that changes by tomorrow morning. I am supposed to go in at 2pm. My left ear is totally plugged up. I hope like my hair, I can get that appointment in before I leave on Sunday. Well, stay warm and hunker down for the duration.

Attitude is everything, pick a good one!

Sorry, but glad we are not in Raleigh today! We hit 81 but I did not have time to go to the pool. We had annual Ladies Luncheon and Fashion Show which is always a lot of fun!
Tomorrow we go to Punta Gorda and pick up my sister who will be with us for 2+ weeks.
Avoided the dessert table, but many salads are like eating desserts. Then came home and ate blueberry crisp with ice cream. Then went to church to work for the auction on Saturday.

Good afternoon! Happy Snowy Tuesday!

A great day to stay indoors... I canceled my mother's doctor appointment so I am so grateful we don't have to go outside. This snow caught me off guard. From listening to the news, I thought the snow was going to be south of us. I only hope the weather will be OK on Friday for our hair appointment. We rescheduled that from last weeks snow day. Tomorrow is my mother's 85 birthday. We are planning on going out celebrating her Birthday Saturday night.

I have been enjoying a few days of rest letting my back have time to recover.

Thank you all for the well wishes.

Be warm and be safe. Have a Wonderful Day!

Best I've felt in two months. Walked for 30 minutes today and finally got back to the pool. Did easy aerobics for 35 minutes as I don't want sore muscles.
Ladies Luncheon and Fashion Show are tomorrow but I plan to do some of the same exercises again. Then we work at church in the evening.
On Wed. we will travel to Punta Gorda to get my sister who has been with another sister the past two weeks. The week will go by quickly!
Sharon, hope you get better real soon. Lower back pain is hard to bear. That's where my pinched nerve originates. The muscle relaxer does help me, but makes me tired.

Good (late) Morning All!

Hope you feel better soon, Sharon! Please take it easy on yourself.

Went to see my new gynecologist this morning in hopes of getting a better handle on the hormone thing. I'll be doing some saliva tests, which tend to be way more accurate than blood tests.

Now Daniel wants to know if I want to go to Alaska. I think we should get the first cruise done before making any other decisions. We need to know if we can get along for at least a week!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Linda

Good Morning! Happy Monday..

I sure am getting a lot of sleep taking these muscle relaxants for my lower back. Unfortunately I gained a couple of pounds. I have not been able to work out with all this pain. Hoping it won't be long. Taking a Fitness Break until I feel better.

I will try to do my PT Stretches to loosen my lower back some. I think I need to not brag when I don't have this pain. Seems like every time I do is when I have problems with it..

Wishing all a Wonderful Day!

Had a great Sunday! Weather gorgeous - above 80 F. Listened to Joel this morning, attended church, visited next door neighbors after fixing lunch, then went to Bible Study before 6 PM.
Now for a little Sparkin' and off to bed at a decent hour. The muscle relaxer makes me sleep so soundly and for at least 9 1/2 hrs. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good Morning! I am a late riser this morning!

My lower back start feeling bad yesterday- dull back pain, so I took a muscle relaxant hoping I would wake up feeling better. Unfortunately, I can barely move this morning and I slept past 9 am. Today was to be my long run 7-8 miles but decided to take a complete rest today.

Linda, So good to hear from you! We all missed you. So excited for you going on that cruise in April. Sorry to also hear about the treatment and expense of the Lyme Disease. I heard that some of these pharmaceutical might give reduced pricing through their companies? Just a thought.

It won't be long for Mary Ellen going off on her travels too!

Carol, I hope you are doing great! Yummy, Blueberry Muffins. Sounds great.

Betsy, I hope you have a great week coming up.

Well, I got to go stretch a bit. Still in my PJ's. Very difficult to even bend..

Wishing all a Great Day! One last day before another cold blast! I hope everyone gets outside and enjoy the outdoors.

Hi, everyone. Apologies for not being around for such a long time. I just haven't felt moved to be very social online lately. I hope everyone has been doing well. Wishing you all the best.

I'm questioning whether I actually have active Lyme disease, since I never really had any definitive symptoms, and have decided to stop the aggressive treatment I'm on, especially since the drugs are now very expensive. I didn't realize that when I was getting "extra help" with the costs it made a really big difference. Now I'm paying half the actual cost of the drugs. I think that goes down at some point, but I can't believe how expensive some common generic antibiotics are!

On the plus side, I'm doing a transatlantic cruise to Spain in April! The guy I met last August with the hope that he'd accompany me on last Thanksgiving's cruise asked me if I wanted to go. I thought I couldn't afford it, but it seems to be doable, even with flying back from Barcelona. And it's a chance to sail on the biggest cruise ship in the world. It's 12 days and only stops in Malaga and Barcelona. Lots of sea days, of course, but I think I'll like that if they give us lots of trivia to play, as well as other activities, of course. Daniel has attained Pinnacle status on Royal Caribbean, so he gets lots of perks, some of which may spill over onto me. And I've never been to Europe, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Hope everyone stayed warm during this ridiculous weather. I didn't realize we were in for another cold snap so soon. Glad my doctor's appointment is tomorrow! Have a great Sunday and stay warm and safe thorughout the rest of this nasty stuff!

Linda

Up early today, baked double batch blueberry muffins, sent to several friends while still warm, then took rest to church where we went in to work at 8:45. Auction next Sat. for fundraiser and there is lots of work to do this week in preparation.
Home about noon, fixed two dishes to take to Masonic dinner at 4 PM, and now I am very tired and going to bed early!

Good Morning!

A little warmer today and Sunday may reach 50 degrees before another cold front... I hope to do some outdoor running this weekend to stay on schedule with my Half Marathon Training!

Completed Cardio The best of Bodies in Motion.. Hips Thighs Buns and 15 minute Abs. Feeling great. My weight is still fluctuating but at least within my range. I know once I get back to my normal running the weight will start falling off and I will need to start some serious fueling. I follow the Paleo Diet which works very good for me. I have family history of diabetes and I have had a slightly elevated A1C. I always thought I was carb resistant and not one single doctor checked my A1C until last year.. Integrative doctor. Just wondering why no one did, since there is family history.

Got to go! Wishing you all a great day! Keep on Sparking!!

Was cold this morning, but don't think it went as low as predicted. And it must be warming up this evening as house is warm and I haven't heard heat pump run. Day was sunny and not as windy.
I'll never get back to goal weight if we keep up this eating pattern! We never eat out very much but have attended too many events this week and still have another one tomorrow.
Glad to see Betsy back on the board. Wish her well on the return to work. Great way to ease into full time!!! DIL got to RTP today for the first - she works from home much of the time and certainly did this week.
Have a great week-end, Friends!!!

Wow, Betsy! a full day! it's about time!! Really it was a nice gentle re-entry into the work force after such a long absence. A nice way to do it.

I did a bunch of running around today as well. Went to lunch with the Village Ladies, then went to BJ's a filled my tank (Did you know with a BJ's Master Card they give you $.10 off each gallon of gas? Good deal!) After that I stopped at Aldi's and dollar Tree. Went to Church tonight for the fish fry. It was sure nice to get out of the house and mingle with people. Tomorrow a bunch of us are going to Whisk at Waverly Place in Cary. They are having samples of all the various sandwiches voted "best in the State" by Our State Magazine. Then Garner is having their city wide talent show. This is my first one, but I understand the last five years have been tremendously entertaining. Should be a good day, and hopefully a little warmer. I think though, that next week we will have lows in the 20's and snow again on Tuesday. That's the day I am supposed to get my hair cut. I sure hope I don't have to postpone it any longer, as I leave a week from Sunday for Ecuador. I simply cannot go there with my hair the length it is now. I hope the weather prognosticators are wrong! Meanwhile, stay warm!

It was cold! It took my car quite a while to heat up but I managed to make it to work and worked all day!

I then did some errands and visited my Dad in the rehab. I made him drink a protein shake which was good!

Happy weekend!

emoticon Good morning! emoticon

I woke early because it was light outside and I see temps are close to zero.
Amazing. It is colder here than Alaska..
I moved my mother's and my hair appointment to next Friday. I hope it will be warmer by then. Looks like more than a week of this cold air.. We will be celebrating her 85th Birthday next Saturday...
I may plan on running Saturday or Sunday- with predicted temps 40- 50 degrees before another cold front. I am suppose to get a 7 miler in to keep on track.

Carol, I saw where all this cold is all the way down through Florida. The Gasparilla Long Distance Race is going on this weekend in Tampa. I can remember running it in cold weather and the breeze off the Bay at the turn around. What's amazing is temps will be back up in the 70's the next day.. Stay warm down there.

Happy to hear the children will be out of school again today. I just can't imagine being outdoors in this extreme cold.

Sending you all Warm Thoughts and Karma Your Way!

Brrr is right! Wow is it cold outside! I have been off work since 1 pm on Monday because of the ice. I go back to work tomorrow. My first week back full-time turned out pretty easy! Even though chipping the ice off the driveway was not easy!

Stay warm everybody!

The Lentil Soup was delicious. Used SP recipe but of course, I altered it. Shared some with other folks, too. Had biscuits with wonderful fresh strawberries for dinner.
Cold tonight, down to 28. Had strong wind all day but it has tapered off now. Too bad because wind helps prevent the frost. Coldest weather in 5 years for FL.
Saw where Raleigh has broken records for cold.
Keep warm, dear friends!

Just got back from Smithfield Outlet Mall. The roads appear to be dry and in good shape. but DARN, it's cold out there! Met my friend from VA who was on her way to FL. Lucky her! She's going down to Cedar Key on the Gulf Coast. Had lunch at Cracker Barrel. Had their Broiled Chicken Salad. 540 calories w/o dressing. I had very little dressing, so less than 600 calories. .

I stopped at Home Depot and surprisingly, I found sand for my sidewalk. (totally sold out of ice melt though, surprise!)Since I had it stamped (painted) this past summer, I was told not to use salt on it, but sand instead. Well the part that gets absolutely NO SUN must have about 3 inches of ice on it! Even with the sand it might not melt till April!!

Tomorrow is suppose to be even colder if I heard right. Burrr!

Good Morning! This is late for me, 11 am.
Slept late, still working out but got my cardio done. May do an extra Beach Bodies workout since I am not running today and have Chest and Back left to do. I am so cold and even in my Tampa Bay area they reached freezing temps.
My husband got out to store yesterday and of coarse came home with a lot of processed foods. Even my Almond Milk, he bought with sugar. I specifically told him not to buy if he couldn't find the right stuff. Oh well, left in the bag with receipt and I will take back when I am able to get out.

Grateful we did not loose electricity. Nice waking to the scent of fresh brewed coffee.

Wishing all a great day! Stay Warm and Safe!

Can't believe the terrible weather you folks are having. Our son called this morning and he said he didn't know when the kids would get back to school. Their private road (gravel) is nothing but ice and he has the equipment to plow it, but you can't plow ice.
His driveway is completely uphill and winding and I'll bet he had to park at bottom and walk up. He did get out to do a little electrical work today.
We went to church this evening after going out with friend's for lunch/dinner. That's two days in a row and I'm ready to get back on a strict program.
Made Lentil Soup this morning as we are going to be cold the next few days. Never made it before and will have it tomorrow. Looks good.
Eat your soup and keep warm!!!

Good Morning..

I enjoyed sleeping late emoticon on this freezing cold morning! The Sun emoticon is out early so hopefully some of this ice will melt. Temps are in the low 20's.
Makes me miss FL Sunshine even more. My husband will go out to the store later this afternoon. I guess I should change my mother's and my hair appointment to next week too.

Enjoying my coffee and will start my Fitness soon. Nothing planned for today other than that.

Well, at least we haven't lost power! My desperately needed haircut has been rescheduled for a week from today. Ash Wednesday services have been cancelled at my Church. And it's even questionable if I can meet my friend from VA at the outlet mall in Smithfield on Thursday. The N&O had a recipe for a Classic Spaghetti Sauce in Sunday's paper and it sounded really good, so I made a big pot of it this afternoon and had it for dinner tonight. I entered it into the Spark Recipes and found out that it only has 52 calories per half cup serving. It really is tasty. Makes a huge batch and it freezes well. Extras will go into the freezer with a portion of pasta so it will be a quick defrost and reheat and dinner is ready. Better jump on the treadmill as I haven't done much today but sit on the computer.

Stay warm and off the roads.

Well, it's FAT TUESDAY, and we went to Golden Corral with folks here from Southern States. Probably about 40 people. Hadn't eaten in a Golden Corral for about 8 years. It was good but DH and I agreed you can't beat home cookin'.
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday so we will attend church service and do a little more fasting during Lent. Rain started before 6 PM, coming down hard and with lots of wind to blow it.
Sorry you folks are having such cold miserable weather. But Spring is coming!!!

Good Morning! Happy Super Tuesday!

It really is cold here in NC. Last night we had snow that turned to sleet. It is really pretty looking but you won't catch me outside when it is icy. I lived in FL for over 20 years, so this has not been easy getting use to. I am just thankful we don't live up North where they really got a lot of this white stuff. Carol, I sure wish we had a winter place back in FL..

Tuesday's are usually a run day, so instead I will do my 40 minute indoor you-tube run with Jessica Smith. That is some workout, more so than running. Day 44 of my 12 week challenge is Cardio Strike and shoulders & arms.

I need to get out to the store but may wait until Wednesday or Thursday.

Betsy, enjoy your day off. Mary Ellen, stay warm.

Wishing all a great day!

So sorry your weather is yucky! The first few years after moving to NC we did not have winters like that. At least it is not below zero as it is farther north.
I had a good day with just a little walking, but sure am feeling better.
Talk later, Carol

Depending on which weather you watch it's either "hunker down" or "well, maybe a 20% chance of precipitation"! My weather alarm woke me up at 7:15 today with dire warnings. My daily email from the weather channel says 20% chance both today and tomorrow! So what makes us think they even have a clue about "Global Warming"?!?! Driving home last night it looked like 401 in the outside northbound lanes had been brined in anticipation of problems. If it stays cold enough we'll have snow and not rain. With the cold temps I'm hoping this time around to have snow so we can stay away from the dreaded ice situations we are so well known for. Time will tell. Stay safe everyone.

Good Morning! Happy Monday!

I woke up late this morning! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner last night and enjoyed watching Saturday Night Lives 40th year Celebration! What a Wonderful Show and Many Laughs.

I got my husband to pick a few things up at the grocery store yesterday so I wouldn't have to go out today with this expected storm! I heard that Wake County Schools are opening 2 hours late.. Sounds like they should of just closed since the storm is expected sometime in the afternoon.

Starting the 7th week of my 12 week challenge. My weight has been fluctuating between 123 and 121. Sure wish it would stay at 121lbs. That is my center weight for my range of 117 lbs. - 124 lbs. Someone told me about Weight Grapher that will give you your average weight which I like better than actual weight. It works with fit bit but you can manually enter your weight every day.

If you have to go out today, please be safe.. It sounds like we may have sleet or snow??
This does make it difficult for running but so far I am on track for upcoming Half Marathon in April.

Have a Wonderful Day! Stay Warm and Safe!

Burrrrr! I HATE the cold! Busy day today but did nothing but sit on my rear end and eat. Went to breakfast after Mass and as soon as I got home I turned around and went to Fuquay to play cards and have dinner at friends house. Before I got on the treadmill a few minutes ago I had a grand total of 160 steps! Now that is pathetic! I did a mile on the treadmill and will hop back up there in a bit to at least get my goal in.

Tomorrow I need to take my car in to have it inspected, then the Singles have a luncheon at the clubhouse at noon. After that the stuff should hit the fan weather wise. I am supposed to get my hair cut at 11am on Tuesday. I'm thinking that's not going to happen. I called my gal and she's not sure what Plan B will be. Her sister just lost a foot. She is diabetic and stupidly was walking around outside barefooted in mid January, got something stuck in her foot and didn't take care of it. Her sister told her on the 20th she needed to see a Dr. but she didn't go. Finally on the 30th her sister dragged her to the hospital and they tried to get things under control for 10 days, but she ended up losing the foot. Why do people do things like that? Knowing you are a diabetic and the issues they have with circulation and feet, what possesses you to, #1, walk around barefooted and #2, not take care of anything that may crop up right away? And #3, not listen to people who try to talk sense into you?! Boggles my mind.

Sharon, I hope you can keep up with your training through the cold snap. If the training is as flexible as it seems, you should be OK. Betsy, aren't you just sick to death of hospitals?I can't imaging having to return so soon as a visitor, after your past ordeal. Carol, your tiredness...my neighbor was having real issues with exhaustion, inability to sleep, diarrhea, and a host of other symptoms. Turned out that they had changed a medication that she had been on for 12 years and she was going through withdrawal! Has anything like that changed for you? Just a thought.

Well, everyone, try to stay warm. Hopefully we won't lose power.

Attitude is everything, pick a good one!

Hi, can you believe February is more than 1/2 over?
Sorry it is so cold in so many areas. DIL and two grandchildren are in Atlanta for competition this week-end and I heard the high there was to be 9 degrees. Guess they don't have to go outdoors as all events are in Convention Center and hotel is connected to all.
It's 3 degrees at son's on Lake Erie and we are in mid 70's. Don't know what I will do if or when I can no longer come to FL.
Going out now to take a couple of short walks.
Get the week off to a good start!!!

Good Morning and Happy Sunday!

It really is freezing outside. The temps says 10 degrees but internet says 16. To me all the same, cold. I have not been outside yet to see if there are any trees fallen. We really had a lot of strong winds last night.

Betsy, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Sending Positive Thoughts and Prayers Your Way. Wishing you also the best of luck back at the job full time.

Carol, I hope everyone made it back home safe. And Mary Ellen, I think it is about time we travel somewhere warm. This cold is getting to be too much.

I hope you all had a Wonderful Valentine's Day!!

I did get out yesterday afternoon and run over 7 miles. I felt great and just had a windbreaker on with some gloves. Came back sweating. Staying right on schedule with my Galloway Half Marathon Training. I only run three days a week which really allows me to be flexible. A little sore this morning but that will pass.

I plan to do a Cardio Workout to warm up and then a chest exercise that I missed yesterday. Then watch the church shows. Wishing all a Great Day!

Happy Sunday! It is freezing! Tomorrow I start back to work full-time, it will be interesting. I might be home on Tuesday with a snow day! My father is not doing too well, he has been diagnosed with Stage 1 Pancreatic Cancer. If we can fatten him up a bit they can operate but he is not trying very hard.

It's been a great Valentine's Day. Just grateful we are not having the blizzard like weather like places up north.
Our son got back to states about noon, is in Chicago right now and will be in Cleveland by 9 PM. Such a shock after working in 85 degree heat for a week. Hope he gets back to Port Clinton safely as much of that area is operating on Level 3, meaning only emergency vehicles can be on roads. He is tired but loved the trip and looks forward to going again someday.
My sister has to get to Pgh. airport (55 mi.) tomorrow to fly to FL for a month. She is going first to another sister's in Naples, then will come here later in month.
Have a good Sunday, everyone!

So good to see you Betsy! I am Happy to hear you are feeling better.

It is Sunny outside. Last warmer day before another cold front.
This will be my motivation to push myself out the door. I am hoping to do a 6+ mile run to stay on schedule with my Half Marathon training.. I am learning to be flexible.

Hi all, I am starting to feel better and ready to get back to Spark. I have not gone back to the gym quite yet and I start full-time at work on Monday.

Enjoy the frigid weather!

Getting ready for a deep freeze! And it sounds like it's only going to get worse in the foreseeable future. Monday and Tuesday sound downright dangerous with rain and snow mix and below freezing temps. I am SO ready for Spring! Winds are up and we have fire alerts for much of the state. I guess we need to be thankful we aren't in Boston. A friend of mine in the upper NW said they will face drought and water rationing this summer unless they get more moisture. Ski areas are really suffering for lack of snow pack.

No big plans for Valentines Day. Heck, I don't even plan to shave my legs!!! Sunday a few of us are gathering for soup and cards. Good way to pass the time inside and out of the elements. Went to opening night of Billy Elliott. Man that young man can sure dance! He's only 16 and has only been dancing since he was 9. He's going places in the theater that's for sure. Very talented.

Hope everyone has a nice Valentines Day. Stay warm. I hope you're feeling better Carol. It's hard when your get up and go has gotten up and went!!

Nice sunny day in FL with temps in the 60's - 12 degrees below normal. Windy, too.
Went to computer class this afternoon, did a few things around house, and I get so tired.
Everyday I think I will feel like exercising, but never happens.
Maybe tomorrow!
Have a great week-end, Teammates!!!

Happy Friday the 13th! Make it your lucky Day! It is a freezing Morning!! Temps are below 20 degrees and may warm up to 30 later.
I am trying to warm up with my coffee.

I will start my Cardio Blast in a bit and then some weight training I missed yesterday.

My weight has been fluctuating the same 2 lbs. I am at the high end.. emoticon Very frustrating. As long as I don't go over my range but I just hate getting so close to it..

My first Half Marathon is in two months and my training, thank goodness is on schedule. Although, I have not been running the amount of days, my miles are right on target. I have been doing an indoor run jog You-tube Bobbie told me about that makes up for it.

I hope everyone is doing great and wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!

Good Morning!

We have some more cold temps on the way. I think it will warm up and then rain around noon bringing in the cooler temps then dropping to the teens. Sounds like this may last for almost a week. I am really looking forward to Spring. I guess I need to be grateful I don't live in NY or Boston where they are being slammed with snow. I am happy I planted the Tulip's and my Variety Lettuce.

It is a weight training Day but I am going to start out with a Cardio to get myself going.

I have been collecting some Paleo Recipes online to try. I found some lemon bars that really sound great and can't wait to try. It uses dates and figs for natural sweetener and is all gluten free.

Wishing all a Wonderful Day!!

Hi, this week is cooler with temps in 60's and 70's. Pool is kept at 84 F. and people have been swimming. Our water aerobics class is held if temp is up to 60 by 10 AM. I hope to get started back soon but in limited amounts. Spring is just around the corner!!!

Good Morning! Happy Hump Day!!

What would make Today perfect for you?

Winning the Power Ball. OK, I know that is a big dream. But I wanted to put it out there in the Universe.. I would love to update my mother's house and add a garage and sun room. Maybe a built in pool too. Sort of what we had in FL. I like openness, lots of windows and the outdoor kitchen. Big Dreams. Oh, maybe through a cruise in there too. My bucket list vacation is Hawaii..

I am hoping the temps warm up enough to get outside later this afternoon for a Run. The Sun is Shining even though the temps are still freezing but I believe it may warm up to the 40's later in the day. I need my Sunshine and since moving away from FL, I have been trying to take advantage of most sunny days.

I made hair appointments for my mother and I next week. Her Birthday is near the end of the month, she will be 85 years old. I also made another one in the early week of April so I don't forget. I love to have my hair done before a Race and of coarse Holiday's.

Carol, is it warm enough for you to start your water aerobics again? Personal Trainer sounds like a great idea. I really hope you start feeling better...

Wishing all a Wonderful Day!

You get so much exercise, Sharon! I just told my daughter I thought I would need a personal trainer if - and when - I ever get back to exercise. Right now, a 5 or 10 minute walk just about wears me out. I try to do it several times a day.
Had another lung x-ray today and since doctor didn't call immediately I hope things are improving. Guess I will find out tomorrow.
We had very heavy rain yesterday and none is predicted for days to come. Hope to sit out in the sunshine tomorrow. Will feel good with temp of 71 or more.

emoticon Good Morning!

I am so happy I pushed myself out the door yesterday for my run because it started raining later in the afternoon and it is still raining this morning. I hope it clears up later when I take my mother for her acupuncture/ massage treatment.

I also am happy I planted my Spinach and Variety Lettuces. The tulips also were planted. I hope we weren't too late on that.

Enjoying my coffee and ready to start Day 37 of my Challenge. Hips Thighs Buns and Chest and Back. I will also do a Cardio first for a great warm up.

Have a Great Day!

Started the day as beautiful, but somewhere around noon the rain and thunderstorms started, and it rained hard most of the afternoon. Finally, about 8 PM the rain has subsided. Rest of the week should be nice although temps will be below normal, but we won't complain about the 60's.
Only got in a 5 minute walk this morning before the rain. Should do some chair exercises, but don't know if I have the energy. Maybe!
Hope teammates got week off to a good start!

emoticon Good Morning Everyone! Another Beautiful Day here in NC!

I spent time outside yesterday in my garden planting Spinach and Varieties of Lettuce. emoticon I got my husband to plant the tulips. I want to go to Lowes and get some Edging Bricks and plant more tulips in the front area of the House. I also want to do that around my Garden so when looking out the kitchen window see Beautiful Flowers surrounding my garden. emoticon

I stayed up late watching the Grammy Awards.. emoticon Enjoying my coffee and will start Day 36 of my 12 week Challenge soon. I did not run yesterday, so I decided to run early this afternoon. I hope to run 3- 6 miles. This beautiful weather won't last long so I want to take advantage of the outdoors as much as possible.

Felt good to get to church and the fellowship dinner following the service.
Made me very tired, so I slept about 1 1/2 hrs. before going to Bible Study.
Son has emailed several times from Colombia and is neat to get info right away.
He says they will probably be too busy the next few days for him to write.
They are in Medellin, a city of 4 million people with beautiful mountains (like Rockies) surrounding it. Great experience!
Get your week off to a good start!!!

Thanks for info, Sharon. DD told me this morning I could keep Facebook account very private. Many of our friends keep up with their kids and grandkids on FB, but for some reason our computer gurus here at resort tell us to stay away from it, but I know their wives use it. I will decide soon.
Just thrilled I got first email from son in Colombia. They dug right in on first day and accomplished a lot of work. At least they didn't change time zones.
And today is first day I felt quite well. Planning to go to church and Pot Luck dinner after. But it was all I could do to take two 5 minute walks! Little by little!
Enjoy your Sunday!

Carol, I am on Face Book. I keep my Spark People and Face Book Separate. I do have many Spark Friends on Face Book but I still don't have it connected.

Some people just use Face Book for family and keep their settings private. Lots to learn. I never heard of it before, my niece sent me pictures about 5 years ago and right now it is my social connection with family and friends across the country.

My Safety Harbor Race is this morning and have been following it and friends on Face Book. The race that never was for me. A friend is going to send me the tee shirt- goodie bag. My son had a good Birthday yesterday.. He was getting ready to go with friends to St. Pete's 1st Friday last night. There is always so much to do in FL especially in February..

I am going to enjoy the outdoors this weekend. So excited temps are warming up a bit.

Wishing all a Wonderful Weekend!

Our son should have arrived in Colombia, SA about an hour ago.
We talked to him several times last evening, but missed his call when he was at airport in Miami before taking off. Had to wait at pharmacy for prescriptions that should have been ready and he didn't call on our cell phones, but left 4 messages on home phone.
I just might have to join Facebook as I am missing out on our granddaughter's trip abroad and son will also put photos on there.
I don't think I can handle both SP and Facebook. We'll see!

Good Morning and Happy Friday!!

Oh My!! It is freezing... It looked like temps are below 20 degrees. No running for me today.. I am getting ready to do a Cardio Blast and then 15 minute Abs and Shoulders & Arms.

Nothing much planned today just staying indoors. Today is my sons 25th Birthday..
I sure wish I could be down in FL Celebrating with him. Tomorrow is the 10K Race I had signed up for and I will miss that too. I found out my friends all have had injuries so they will not be running it either..

Wishing all a great day! Certainly looking forward to this weekend and warmer temps. Hopefully I can get out and do some work in my garden. Time for planting lettuce and hopefully those tulips won't be too late.

Nothing exciting here. Had dr. app't, she is stumped by my lung problem, but it appears to be improving. Another chest x-ray is next. At least I feel a little better!

Sharon we are on different ends of the sleep scale. I went to bed about 11:30 and read till just before midnight. I didn't wake up till 9:55 this morning! I had just gotten up when my next door neighbor called to be sure I was OK since my blinds were still down! I seem to have wasted half of my day! Guess I'd better get moving before I waste the other half on the computer!!

Good Morning!

I woke early, around 4:30 with a very bad sinus pressure headache. I hope I am not coming down with something. I have really tried avoiding being around people and Fitness Center to avoid getting sick. Took a sinus over the counter pill and am starting to feel better.

Today is day 32 of my challenge and am ready to start. I may do a Jessica Smith indoor Running You-tube workout. Bobbie told me about this and just love it on days I am not able to get out.

I have been having problems trying to figure out about my deferred race in Safety Harbor, FL this weekend. I have confirmation that I deferred it last year and thought I had signed up for it this year. Of coarse, I won't be able to make it again this year but saw I am not even registered for it. I have been sending e-mails to Racer sign up and know one has responded?? Not sure what to do. Would love to sign up using my credit for a Raleigh local race instead. Oh well, live and learn..

Got to go! Wishing all a Great Day! Stay Healthy!

I'm with you Carol. I love the way coffee smells but the taste to me is awful! I don't even like coffee ice cream! Just leaves an icky taste in my mouth. I do enjoy herbal teas, but I like them with lots of sugar and they stain my teeth, so I seldom drink that either. I gave up sodas for Lent one year and never went back to them. So about the only thing left for me is water. I am a water girl through and through. Well, except for a hot chocolate now and then. And then there is Baileys on ice and Verde or Moscato or Asti wine, so maybe not 100% water but darn near!

At least you enjoy coffee, Sharon. I never found it to my liking so don't drink it, but I consider it a social thing and regret I don't drink it.
Reminds me, I am ready for my after dinner drink of Constant Comment Tea, one of my favorites.
Off to the kitchen!

Good morning!

I really slept great last night and slow moving this morning. Trying to enjoy my coffee without cream. Just not the same. Ready to start my Cardio and then 15 minute Abs.
Temps at 20 degrees but should warm up to 50 degrees later. I hope to get out for a run, have not been since last week.

I have to get to the store and of coarse cream is on the list.

Wishing all a Great Day!

Carol, I love the Hallmark Channel.. I cry every time I see the Lost Valentine with Betty White. Such a great movie. I also saw the movie with the little girl and swans.

I never got out for my run today. The blue skies and sun were deceiving. It was very cold. I think Wednesday will be the day warming up to the 50's but after that another cold front. Temp roller coaster.

Night all!

Glad to see the Raleigh critter did not see his shadow!
Early Spring sounds great for that area!
You know, I have never been a fan of TV, but sure have spent a lot of time in front of it recently.
Only watch Food Network, HGTV, occasionally the Weather Channel, then Wheel and Jeopardy. And sometimes those channels aren't very good either.
My sister often watches Hallmark so I turned to it tonight and saw Betty White in "The Lost Valentine". I considered it very good.
Last week I saw "Away and Back", an excellent movie about trumpeter swans. Little girl in movie was certainly a good actress. Good for the whole family. It became available to purchase on Jan 29th.
Talk later, Carol

Good Morning!

It is freezing here in NC. The cold front has arrived. Temps at 20 degrees. At least we do not have snow like many Northern States. I am ever so grateful our local Groundhog did not see his shadow. Hopefully he is right and we will have an early Spring..

After my coffee I hope to do a Cardio Workout and then my weight training. I think it should be warming up to 40 degrees later and I may try to get out for a short run.

My mother had consult yesterday with Oral Surgeon. She has two teeth that need extraction. So we will probably schedule that in the next few weeks. No doctor appointments for the rest of the week! Yeah!

I am happy to hear you are starting to feel better Carol.
Mary Ellen, that walking on the treadmill sounds like it is really paying off! Great Job!

I hope our New Members will come join us and also participate with the Red Flag.

Wishing all a Great Day!

Carol, Glad you are seeing the light at the end of that tunnel! Knock on wood, I've been healthy for a good long time. Hoping my luck holds out.

Yes we do have some high winds. We had rain this morning and sprinkles into the afternoon. The temp was rather nice for a while there, but once those winds kicked up it was pretty biting. It was really bad coming around a corner where it was calm and getting blasted by the wind. Nasty!

I've been getting in my miles on the treadmill. Getting my "Goal Getter" award in a nice long streak. I break my times up sometimes going .5 miles and up to 1 several times a day. And finally my weight is creeping down. I was up to about 23 pounds over goal since Sept., but today I was at 15 over, so the miles I am tracking are really helping. I'd like to be closer to goal my March 8th, as that's the day we arrive to the Galapagos and I will start wearing a swimsuit! I don't want to scare anyone, since I don't know a soul on the trip! OAT, the Company I am traveling with offers pre and post trips to maximize your flight dollars and I have been to both places they were offering, so I didn't sign up for them. I was kind of worried that the group might solidify before I joined them. Turns out none of the group of 15 is taking either trip, so we'll all be newbies when we meet up on the 1st. I appear to be the only single traveling, so I hope the couples are open to me joining them. I hate to be a 3rd or 5th wheel. I've never been the only single on one of these trips before. We'll see how it goes. I should be OK. What are the odds of finding 7 couples that only want to be with each other?!

Nice to see some new posters for the team. I hope they are also doing the red flag points. Welcome to the team! Tomorrow is trash day and I need to change the kitty litter, so have a good evening.

WOO HOO! I finally feel like I am coming out of the dark forest of illness. Think I still have a ways to go, but will check with doctor tomorrow.
At least I walked several times today and that felt good.
Saw where Raleigh was to get high winds this PM. Hate to see that after rains because it brings down many trees. Stay safe, Friends!

Hi, teammates! Enjoy reading your postings.
My husband is a left-handed pitcher and went to summer camps for the Pittsburgh Pirates for several years, but never made it big-time.
He played baseball until the age of 50, then switched to softball so he could play with our three teens who played in church leagues.
And now at the age of 82 he plays softball with the seniors in Winter Haven. And they play two days a week with a number of games each day. He loves the sport!
Get your week off to a good start!!!

Morning, Sharon!
My plans for this month....and the next 3....are to work towards my "Summer Body"!
I bought a 2 piece bathing suit for this summer! I haven't been in one in over 24 years! I'm more interested in losing body fat, and building muscle tone....of course, losing weight is ideal! LOL!

I'm hoping that my gym reopens early this week! It's been closed for nearly 2 weeks, due to failure of inspections! NOT happy! It's affected my physical well being, and now it's impinging on my mental state! I found that exercise, and the endorphin's that it creates, were my "Happy Pill"! LOL!

I NEED my workouts!!!
Hope everyone has a great Month, Day...and Super Bowl night!
I'm off to church, then banished (self banishment) to the kitchen!

No Super Bowl Plans for me! emoticon

My husband will enjoy watching and I will probably be out running and maybe doing some shopping.

My husband use to play Football all during his High School years and he played one year for the FL Gators. Let's just say one concussion ended his football desires. His mom kept newspaper clippings of him in a scrap book. My son did not follow his dad. He was great in Baseball- left handed pitcher. He had opportunity to go to Gator Football camp when Urban Myers was the Coach and did not want to go because none of his friends were going.
There are a lot of professional Baseball Teams in our area in FL. I wish my son would go out after it because he really was great in it.

Enjoy your day!

Good Morning! Happy February 1st!

What are your Goals for February?

Mine is to continue on with my 12 week Jeff Galloway Half Marathon Training, 12 week Quick Fit System and the biggest is 120 daily Fitness Minutes. I am looking at actual Fitness Minutes and not Spark Tracker Activity Tracker minutes. The other is keeping my weight under 124 lbs. Maintaining between 117 lbs. and 124 lbs. This maintaining is not easy but I have read each year of maintaining your percentages increase on keeping the weight off.

I hope to get out again this afternoon for a 3-4 mile run. It was cold yesterday but I pushed myself out the door around 3 pm for a 3.5 mile run. I am happy I did. Still not use to cold temps and my Jan. HM Training has been off some. I hope Feb. is a better month as my training miles increase.

I am still on the roller coaster of weight maintenance. I really don't like this fluctuating but hopefully it will be more in a downward trend, especially when I start running more miles.

Wishing all a Great Day!
