Good Morning! Oh what a Beautiful Morning it is. emoticon The temps are still a little cool but the sun is Shining. Here in NC we are gradually warming up too. I hope we saw the last of winter.

I am on the last week of a 12 week challenge. It has helped me stay within my range during the winter. I am also tapering on my Half Marathon Training. Today I will be running 4-5 miles. April 12th is Raleigh Rock N Roll and I am so ready for it.

Taxes in FL are so much better. We never paid state income tax and also fulltime residence have home exemptions being primary homes. I am amazed how high NC state taxes are?? And wonder, where does the money go??

Later I will be taking my mother for her acupuncture massage treatments.

Wishing all a great day!!

Well, Sharon, it looks like your training is soon to pay off. Good luck in that half Marathon. I hope the weather gets nicer so you can work into the race as you scale down your workouts.

I had my taxes done and you are in for a surprise when you file the NC forms. Most people I know, myself included, end up paying about double what you did last year. I understand they moved the rate down to a flat rate (good thing in my book) but in doing so, they also eliminated a lot of the exemptions you could have taken last year, so people are ending up paying like never before. Lots of talk in Raleigh that they need to at least once again allow people (especially Seniors) to take the medical deductions they used to have. NC is a "Retirement Friendly" State and if Seniors begin to take it in the shorts over taxes, the Legislature is afraid that we will lose that designation and retirees will begin to flee to more tax friendly states. They are seriously considering making amends to that law. Carol, do you live in FL enough to qualify as a resident for tax purposes? I think they are a better state in which to file if you can get away with it.

I got my new SPAT today, and yesterday I got a Jawbone UP24 at Costco. I had seen it and the FirBit there last week, and I wanted to do some comparison research before making a purchase. Then the SPAT went on sale and I bit the bullet and ordered a replacement for the one that had stopped working, and it is "someplace safe" in my luggage, and has not turned up since I returned. Anyway, I decided to go ahead and get the UP24 because I was interested in seeing the sleep analysis. Well, I went there yesterday with a friend that was visiting from VA, and found that the UP24 now had an instant rebate of $20.00! What is selling on the UP website for 129.99, I got for $59.99! So far I really like the features of the UP, and I understand that it is compatible with the SPAT, though I haven't been able to figure out how to sync them yet. I do like that it looks like a piece of jewelry and it has lots of nifty abilities like a reminder that vibrates when you are idle for a set period of time. It will vibrate to remind you to get up and move. I figure I spend so much time on the computer that after say 30-40 minutes it will remind me to move and I can hop on the treadmill and do a lap before I sit down again on the computer. I need to really study all the ways it can motivate you and take advantage of them. I do like techie stuff, though I don't profess to understand how it all works. Like how does it know that I had 6 hours and 59 minutes of sleep and 87% of it was sound sleep, while 1 hour and 16 minutes was light sleep?! I don't know how it works but I like the information!

Not a cloud in the beautiful blue sky all day! Low humidity, temps in mid-70's. Couldn't ask for a nicer day!
Friend just brought in heaping quart of lovely red strawberries she picked this afternoon. I'll eat strawberries sliced with banana after while. (topped with yogurt)
Took our taxes to be done today and this is first year I did not total all our medical, etc. as it is usually turned down. Guess what! They sent me home to figure those as it may make a difference in our taxes. So it's back to the drawing board! Better get busy!

Good Morning Team!

I pushed myself yesterday to get my 12 mile run done. It was cold- low's 20 degrees. I waited until it warmed up to 30 degrees. Totally bundled up with gloves and headband. Yeah! Now is two weeks of tapering before my Rock N Roll Half Marathon in Raleigh, NC. I have never trained before in NC during the winter. After living in Tampa Bay for over 20 years I must admit it was not easy. I had to do a lot of self talk and signing up for this race last year was my motivation. I am also on the last week of my QFS Challenge.

Enjoying my coffee and will get started soon.

Later today, I have to take my mothers taxes to get done.

Wishing all a great day! Hard to believe we are coming to another month's end!

Even FL got cold last night - down in 40's and I turned on the heat this morning.
But we have had beautiful sunshine all day with temps in high 60's.
Plan to get back to a better routine tomorrow as I have been somewhat off, especially when it comes to drinking enough water. I've been having too much hot tea.
Yes, it's the last few days of March. Son said he will send photo of big clump of bleeding hearts in bloom. (I thought he killed them last year.)
Get your week off to a good start!!!

emoticon Good Morning!! emoticon Happy Palm Sunday!! emoticon

WOW! March is coming to a close. This month came and went so quickly.

Mary Ellen, Thank you for sharing such Beautiful Pictures.. I am going to go back and look at them again. You are so lucky you are able to travel like you do.

Thanks Carol! When you come back we really need to plan on getting together. We could be the Three Musketeers'.. Raleigh Team Sparkers. Hopefully we can get more on the team too. I can only commit to being a co-leader to help out, but would love to add more people on if you all would like. I am on many teams that have 6 or more co leaders in addition to leader. It seems like those teams remain very active that way.

Today is my last planned long run before the Rock N Roll Half Marathon 4/12. Oh my, the temps are only 20 degrees. I hope in a couple of hours it will warm up to at least 40 degrees. I may end up running later which I am not thrilled about. My energy level is usually in the mornings. I plan to do a warm up Cardio and will be out the door.

Wishing all a Great Day!!

Hi and it will be brief! Hot Spot renews tonight so tomorrow I can go to link and drool over the wonderful photos from trip.
I am left in the dark as far as cameras and so many electronics go. And that trip sure sounded fabulous!

I don't know if this link will work, but it is a blog that one of the couples has done on the trip. These pictures came from a wonderful camera that makes my pictures virtually worthless in comparison! Anyway, these are shots of the sea lion that "played" with us for about 20 minutes! It was one of the highlights of the trip. Hope it works.

emoticon Good Morning Team!!

I am so excited that we are finally seeing Spring like temperatures.
I love seeing the Spring Flowers Bloom and the Trees budding.
Everything is starting to come alive!!!

I am still enjoying my coffee. I just completed a Spark Blog, something I have not done in awhile. I joined a Spring 5% Challenge which will be starting up next Saturday! So excited about it. Very active and keeps me motivated.

I will be getting ready to start day 76 of my challenge, Cardio Classic, Hips thighs buns and shoulders & arms. Saturday I will be going to Wilson area for my nieces baby shower with my mother and Sunday planned 12 mile run. Last long run before my Half Marathon on the 12th. I have a lot of nervous exciting butterflies right now. I wanted to do this race last year but was sick most of the winter...

Wishing all a great day and Happy Friday!!

Good Morning!

It is raining here in NC. emoticon , so hopefully I can squeeze in my 6 mile run a little later in the day. I had a great night sleep emoticon and now just waking up enjoying my coffee. emoticon ..

I will start up my favorite Cardio Blast Soon and then make up for some weight training emoticon I did not complete yesterday..

Saturday my mother and I will be going to a baby shower so I had to move my long run to Sunday. 12 miles will be the last long run before my Rock N Roll Half Marathon emoticon April 12.

ME, I love my SPAT. And yes, I do like that it is linked directly to our SP. For me it is easy but all devises have their issues. SPAT was down recently- Sunday and did not come back up until Monday afternoon. But my Garmin was the same way that day? Someone told me there was something going on out in space- Meteors. But everything is up and running now. I only use Garmin for my runs since it has the GPS and I like to see my pace and map.

Wishing all a Great Day!! I sure miss living in Tampa Bay and running along Bayshore Drive, in Safety Harbor, early mornings seeing the sun come up over the water. Hopefully one day my life will bring me back down. We lived there for over 20 years and My son is still there...

Wednesday is my card playing day, so went down to Fuquay for the afternoon.

I wrote about losing my SPAT on the trip. I was considering getting either a jawbone or a FitBit to replace it. Seems like there are a lot of issues with the SPAT not recognizing activities and syncing problems, so I was ready to ditch it in favor of another device. Well, I got an email last night that the SPAT dropped down to $29.99 with $5.00 shipping so I went ahead and ordered another one. It's nice that it syncs to my SP site and truthfully, neither the FitBit nor the Jawbone did everything I wanted. There were pros and cons to both of them. A hybrid of all three of them would be ideal, but I'm sure that's not going to happen any time soon. I should have it in 5-7 business days. And I am finding it really does motivate me. Being without it has really put a dent in my resolve to get my steps in.

Sharon your foray into gardening is one I used to enjoy, but I gave it up with the move to the new house. All the landscaping is taken care of by the HOA, unless you plant something (with their approval) on your own. I've thought of putting in some color flowers and I may if I see something that grabs me, but I think those sweating days are behind me! I've even decided to give up on my tomatoes in bug pots on the patio. I've not had much luck the past few years. The skins are either really tough or splitting on me. I'm better off going to Farmer's Market and buying them. And if Lowe's has their "Carolina Crates" again this year I will definitely be getting those on a regular basis. I was impressed with the quality of the produce I got in them. And if I got "weird" stuff, that I had no idea what to do with, or stuff I deemed to labor intensive for the result (read collards!) I gave it away. I did however, just today, go to Ollies and bought some 10-10-10 fertilizer that they had on special. I read that you can use it instead of ice melt on concrete and it won't damage anything, and will actually do your lawn some good as it melts and goes into the grass. Now I just need to find a hand held broadcast spreader. I had one but gave it away when I left the old house, thinking I would have no need for it. So fertilizer for me, is for winter, not spring and summer!

Carol, sounds like your community down there is very organized and lots of folks participate in things. Are most of you snow birds? Too bad you don't get back till May. You are missing a really pretty time here in NC with Forsythia and Dogwood and all sorts of blooming beauties going full bore. You will, however, probably miss the pine pollen season, though you will more than likely be faced with cleaning up the residual when you get back here. I am not cleaning off the porch furniture till that whole mess is over with.

Time to hop on the treadmill. Everyone have a good evening.

Oh, ME, I could read about your trip all night! How interesting!
We're returning to NC after the first week of May.
Just found our granddaughter from WF will be in World Cheering Competition in Orlando late in April - as her brother was last year.
Was a big day here in resort with hundreds taking part in numerous games - all day - then dinner and live b and with dancing all evening.
Talk more later, Carol

Good Morning and Happy Super Tuesday!

Enjoying my coffee and soon will start my Cardio Strike.. Today is a planned 4 mile recovery run. I need to get out a little earlier today since I have to take mother for her RA Doctor appointment early afternoon. We will stop at bank after and then shop for a baby boy gift. My niece is expecting her second child next month and we will be attending baby shower this weekend.

Welcome Back Mary Ellen! I have such a busy morning but I plan to come back and read your post about your travels. Can't wait.. I hope you also share some beautiful pictures.
Carol, I will also catch up with you. Not use to earlier appointments and my mother and I have so much to do after. Hope to catch up early this evening.

Wishing all a Wonderful Day!

Well, I have hit the ground running since my return. Still haven't dusted or vacuumed but I haven't been home much either. I'm getting company on Saturday and I've come to conclusion that I should probably put off doing it till right before she gets here or I'll just have to do it twice! Pretty bad attitude but I've justified it in my head, so it will just have to wait!

I took my SPAT with me on the trip. It was doing OK, both in and out of the water till one day I was walking along the beach and it just quit on me. I had changed the battery before I left so it wasn't that. The skin around the edge was beginning to peel and I wonder if water got in there and damaged it? Well, I took it off and put it in a "safe place" and now I can't find it! I have looked in every nook and cranny of every piece of luggage, both carry on and checked as well as jewelry bags and purses and it is nowhere to be found. I had to go to Costco today as my hearing aid conked out on me (has to be sent back to the manufacturer as the battery compartment has begun to corrode). They had both a FitBit and a Jawbone activity tracker. I've done some comparison reading and though the Jawbone seems to be a nicer product they have an awful problem with quality control. People have ended up returning them multiple times and each one has issues. The company is great about replacing them but after 5 and 6 tries people have given up on them. I think the FitBit will be OK if I don't wear it in the shower, as that seems to be the biggest complaint that it leaks and the face clouds up. I'll probably buy it when I go to pick up the hearing aids later this week.

Back to the trip. I've not written much about what a great time I had. It was such a diverse trip, with the jungle the city and the islands. I will tell you I never sweated so much for so many consecutive days in my life! But it was worth it! While in the jungle (the Amazon basin on the Nopo River at the Yarina Lodge) we went on nature walks and learned about the jungle and it's food treasures as well as plants and animals that compose the area. We visited a tribe of indigenous people and saw their way of life. I prepared and ate grubs which were surprisingly delicious. They prepared Talapia wrapped in banana leaves which may have been the best fish I've ever tasted! They hunt with blow darts and we all took a turn of trying to hit the target with the dart gun. I'll have you know I was one of only 3 people that hit the target! You'll definitely want me on your team next time we need to hunt some squirrel for dinner! We even peeled and ground our very own chocolate. We had to grind it 4 times through a meat grinder and we had it for dessert that night over bananas. Ecuador is one of the top producers of chocolate in the world as well as the biggest exporter of long stem roses in the world. The have stems that are up to 4 feet long! They are gorgeous!

While on the islands we snorkeled twice a day for the entire week. I swam with marine iguanas, sea turtles, sharks (not man-eating), rays and several sea lions. One of them decided to play with our group for about 20 minutes! We had a ball with him and I think he had a great time as well! The bird life was incredible. While I am not a birder we had several who were and they were amazed at the numbers they were able to add to their lifetime list of sitings.

While in the city we had a home hosted dinner with a local family and visited a school for special needs kids that specializes in music and dance. While some of the musicians are blind, most of them suffer from Down Syndrome. They were truly an inspiration and showed so much talent. They can begin at the school at age 10 and they never have to leave. They were all so happy performing I don't think any of them will leave. The oldest "student" was something like 46 years old! It was amazing. We went to the equator and saw that indeed water flushing on the equator goes straight down, while south of the equator it goes clockwise and in our hemisphere it goes counter clockwise. We balanced an egg on a nail head and discovered that it is impossible to walk a straight line on the equator! It really was an amazing trip.

I gained a few pounds, but have taken them off already. Unfortunately I am still about 16 pounds over goal, so I am hoping that my new activity tracker and the nicer weather I'll be moving a lot more and combined with discipline in eating I will soon be back down to where I want to be. That's the plan. I hope I stick to it.

Sharon, it sounds like you've been busy not only with physical fitness stuff but lots of digging and tilling in the garden. What kind of grapes do you plan to get? I am a sweet wine person so I'm voting for muscadines, though I doubt you will be producing any wines! Still sweet are nice to snacking. How long do they have to grow before you get a harvest? Are they like asparagus where you have to wait a few years before the fruit is good for eating. Maybe that's just for wine grapes? Somewhere in the back of my mind there is something about grapes, too.

Carol, when do you get back up here? I think I read somewhere that you have at least another month down there. I'm hoping we are done with the worst of the weather up here. I did get a good tan while in Ecuador. Bet your is better though!

Linda, when do you leave? My best tip for packing tip is to take a small bag that zips into just about nothing to carry your souvenirs back home in. Don't put them in checked luggage. Also I try to bring "disposable" clothes, like underwear that is on its last legs and T-shirts that you really don't want anymore and just throw them away or leave them for the room attendants. Also carry a back pack, but since it seems like you have such long walks through international airports to get to customs, I've begun using one on wheels. Sure makes lugging it a lot easier. Get a day pack (much smaller and less bulky than a backpack) at Dicks for everyday carrying of things you may need while touring. And take an extension cord to charge your phones, cameras and tablets. They never have enough plugs and with the extension cord (mine had 3 plugs and one USB port) you can charge 4 things at once. A real lifesaver. And take a roll of masking tape. You don't use it often, but when you need it, it is a God-send! My tour company says you need to plan on wearing every piece of clothing at least 3 times. Do they have laundry facilities on the ship? Many of the newer ships now have that available. A very nice feature.

Well, it's getting late, so that's all for now. I'll try to post more often but catching up from a trip takes me longer and longer nowadays.

Attitude is everything, pick a good one!

"It works if you work it, and it won't if you don't."

ONCE YOU GET THERE....DON'T GET COCKY,
IT'S EASY TO FALL RIGHT BACK DOWN.

Certainly I have a 6-pack. You just can't see it through my soft sided cooler!

I'm here, just not using internet very much as I am so afraid of going over my time limits.
I have been up since 4 AM as I slept pretty well until then and couldn't sleep any more.
Tomorrow is our big Resident Appreciation Day with games of all kinds going on all day. I am not a competitor and plan to start working on income taxes while Chuck supervises some of the games. Then Sun provides dinner for all residents.
Had some rain today and tomorrow should be nice.
Was beautiful by 4 PM and I headed to the pool. Lovely sunset.

emoticon Good morning! emoticon
Just waking up and enjoying my coffee. emoticon

I feel pretty good after yesterday's long run. My Garmin for some reason did not pick up the GPS, so all I have is 2:01 Running time with no miles or map. And my Spark Tracker has not uploaded. Seems like there are maintenance issues since yesterday morning. I finally tracked my miles on the Spark Map and it appears I was slightly under 11 miles at 10:45. I am going to call Garmin this morning and find out what the problem is. I am not a techy person so hopefully this will help. I hope my SPAT will start working to, I use that for all my exercise and back up for running..

Today I start week 11 of my challenge.. Cardio Classic, Chest & Back and 15 minute Abs.

Have a Wonderful Day!!

Good Morning! Happy Sunday!

I did not sleep well last night? Not sure why. Maybe anxiety of doing my long run this morning. I am right on target for my upcoming Raleigh Rock N Roll HM emoticon April 12th. 11 miles is goal for this morning.

I accomplished a lot in my garden but still have a lot more to do. emoticon I need to get more Organic Soil to fill in and Raise up my Organic Garden Beds. I planted more lettuce- Ruffle kind, Romaine and Spinach. I hope to go back to Lowes and get more Organic Soil and hopefully they will have some veggies I can plant. Not sure if I am late on buying or if they sold out of things. Seems like last year they had so much more? I also did some landscaping in the front yard. emoticon My mother wants me to buy some grapes and plant along her fence. emoticon Sounds like a great idea..

emoticon Good Morning! emoticon Rise N Shine!!! emoticon

I woke at a wonderful time this morning and am enjoying my Cinnamon Spice Coffee.
Debating whether or not, if I really want to do my long run of 11- 12 miles this morning. It originally sounded like today would be the day to run for the best weather, now it sounds like Sunday maybe the best day to run with no rain expected and slightly warmer. We shall see. I have a Cardio planned this morning and a couple of sets or weight training.

My husband has been feeling neglected, I guess with all my training. He is not a runner .. He has been occupied with all this Basketball- March Madness. I am totally bored of it. A little disappointed that WRAL has taken all their stations to broadcast it. I had no idea they are part of FOX News now. And Corporations have taken them over..

This month has flown by. So Happy to hear that you had such a wonderful visit with your grandson Carol. Sounds like Ryan is learning repair work very well. I feel for him with having to have 4 wisdom teeth removed. My mother has her appointment for two teeth extractions next month. Looking forward to her getting this done. I love 90 degree weather, especially when you have a pool. Most people in FL have their own pools and when I lived there, I lived in my pool. I would love to have one here, certainly miss it.

Wishing all a Great Day! Keep on Sparking and keep your Body in Motion.

20th of March already!!! We were at temp close to 90 (maybe above) today and the pool is wonderful - almost too warm! Lots of people using it now.
Grandson leaves tomorrow and we will miss him. He has one more week of Spring Break, but goes back to Columbus and has to get 4 wisdom teeth pulled. Poor guy.
Ryan is getting close to 17 now but he wanted to replace our bathroom faucet. He had never done one before but watched his dad who can tackle any job. They own apartment bldgs. and he frequently does jobs like that. Ryan did a great job!
We also got a new refrigerator delivered today. Love it! Freezer on bottom and French Doors on top. Freezer bin pulls out. Only 19 cu ft because it has to fit in space in park model.
And now we are supposed to go to local ice cream and sandwich bar to treat Ryan, but he is still playing pickleball.
Have a great week-end!!!

Stopping by to say Hi! I am starving and need to start dinner.

I made it out for a 5 mile run this morning and .53 mile walk/cool down. The temps were high 40's and I felt comfortable with a sweat shirt on and was sweating when I got home. Made it before the rain. I also planted some tulip plants that I bought at Walmart. Beautiful individual ones in the front yard.

I think it will be raining tomorrow also but hopefully later I can get out and start building up my garden. I am watching the weather and think I may do my long run on Saturday. I hope to do 11-13 miles. Then only one more week long run and I will start to taper down prior to my Race Day!! So excited.

See you all in the morning! Have a Great Evening!

Just a brief "HI". So good to hear of ME's travels and Linda's upcoming trips. We just don't have any exciting trips planned except for heading to NC about the first of May.
Rather uneventful day but we played shuffleboard with Ryan, had neighbor in for dinner, then played Phase 10.

emoticon Good Morning emoticon and Happy Wednesday! emoticon

Welcome Back Mary Ellen! Sounds like you really had an enjoyable time. I am really looking forward in reading all about your travels.
Linda, how exciting to read about your plans for adventure.
Carol, I hope you are feeling better now. I love reading about your water aerobics and all your activities with family and friends.

Yesterday I ended up running 6 miles and walked .5 for cool down. I did make it out to Lowes and did some grocery shopping. I try to go to Kroger at least once a week- Organic Meats are probably the best prices around this area.. They also have a wonderful selection in the produce, Chicken and Grass Fed Beef. I also found Grass Fed Organic Beef at Walmart...

This morning will be a quick Cardio workout and some weight training. I hope to work outside in my garden and have my mother out with me for some sunshine. Weather will be changing again, so want to take advantage of the nice weather while we have it.

Wishing all a Wonderful Day!! Keep on Sparking!

Welcome home, ME! Glad you had a great time! If you have any advice on packing for being on the way to and in Europe for almost a month, I'm all ears! Since we added the 13-day Mediterranean cruise, I'm in a bit of a tizzy. Quite the itinerary! It's only a month away now...

Good luck with the gardening, Sharon. I'm about to rip out a huge rose bush from the little patch of garden in my patio so I can put in a few more manageable and maybe edible plants. There are crazy big and I think unattractive plants, too, and I'm not sure what they are, so I think they'll go, too!

Carol, your food sounds yummy and it sounds like you're really livin' the good life down there! I'd love to have access to a nice pool!

Have a great day, everyone!

Linda

Got home a few hours ago. I've been up since 5am yesterday with only 2 hours of sleep at the airport and another 2 on the first flight, so I am wiped out. The trip was wonderful! Had a fantastic time. I'll write more about it later and probably include some pictures in a blog post. Highlights include eating grubs in the jungle (really!), swimming with a sea lion who just wanted to play for about 20 minutes as well as sea turtles and sharks (non man eating types). We snorkeled twice a day for the entire week on the islands. Very cool. Right now I am brain dead, so I'll write more tomorrow.

Gee, Sharon, I just can't imagine running 11 miles!!!
No wonder we don't have many chatting with us, they are all off to faraway places! Anxious, also, to hear of their travels.
Have to go check little convection oven as I have a blackberry/blueberry crisp in baking. Chuck will enjoy it this evening as he and Ryan went to play pickleball, then have a dip in the lighted pool, followed by showers. Ryan will come home to eat more scalloped potatoes and chicken left from dinner, then strawberries and ice cream on a little waffle.
Timer is ringing, gotta' run!

Yikes! Where did my day go?? I got a great night sleep and did my Cardio QFS Day 64 Cardio Classic. Love this one after yesterdays 11 mile run. No bouncing but great cardio. Then make up 20 minutes Hips Thighs Buns and 15 minute Abs. Today's Chest and Back 16 minutes. Goal is to do 120 fitness minutes per day.

Linda, Enjoy your travels. Wish I had the freedom to do that. You are certainly Lady on the Go!! Carol, enjoy every moment. So nice you have lots of family visiting and so much to do while in FL. Also, Thinking of Mary Ellen. Can't wait to hear all about her travels.

Finally, feeling better after this last episode I never before experienced!!! My feeling is Food Poisoning since it started about 5 hrs. after eating at buffet, but it also could have been a virus, but my symptoms were not typical of either. Just hope I never go through that again!~!!
HOT in FL but we love it. Grandson and I just decided to go to pool about 8 PM and have night time swim. Tomorrow we will go to morning water aerobics which he enjoys with the old ladies!
These kids have such a knack with electronics - he just saved me a lot of hassle with my "hot spot" as it hasn't worked correctly for a few days and not at all today. Just a teeny, tiny restart button to push!!!
Linda's travels do sound exciting even though I am not a "cruise person". Enjoy, Linda!
Our granddaughter has been in Europe for two months now - Rome, Paris, and now Amsterdam, then on to Ireland, coming home mid-April. What an experience!
Sharon, your morning coffee smells good even though I don't drink coffee. And your ambitious exercise has left me tired. I've been wondering what caused my tiredness - and now I know!
Get your week off to a good start!!!

Good Morning, Team!

Sharon, just reading all you're up to makes me tired! I really need to get back into doing something. Glad you're getting some good sleep, too!

Carol, hope you're already feeling better. I know how active you like to be.

Well, seems my little European adventure has gotten even more exciting. We found another cruise that leaves Barcelona 2 days after the transatlantic one concludes, and it's got a great itinerary including Rome, Venice, Ravenna, Florence, Naples, Nice and Kotor, Montenegro. So I'll be gone just about a month. Daniel is footing 3/4 of the bill for the second cruise. Hey, you never know what might happen. I may never get another chance to see Europe again. This will require very precise packing, so I need to get good at that fast!

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!

Linda

emoticon Good Morning! Happy Saturday!! emoticon

I am still catching up on much needed sleep. I overslept today but really needed the extra hour+. Enjoying my Cinnamon Spice Coffee. It is a weight training day but I will start off with a quick Cardio to get my Heart Rate Going..

It rained last night and I believe it is to rain some today. I am planning my long run Sunday. I am hoping to do 9- 11 miles. Preferably the 11 miles.. If weather allows I may go out for a short run wearing a pair of new shoes to start breaking them in. They are the ones I plan on wearing for the race. I don't want any mishaps like last year. My shoes ore out three weeks prior to my Half Marathon and ended up injured. Two weeks off prior to Race Day...

So excited. I noticed some Organic lettuce is starting to come up that I had planted... My garden needs to be set back up again. With the weight of ice we had it made the bird netting over it collapses and the fencing needs to be anchored better.. I hope to get out to Lowes to get more Organic Soil to build back up my raised garden..

Well, got to go!! Wishing all a Wonderful Day!!

Good Morning! TGIF!
Carol, So sorry to hear, I hope you feel better today.
I got out for my run yesterday, 5.40 miles. I did not sleep well, so felt a little tired. I am glad I pushed myself out the door though, after the 1 mile I began to perk right up.

I slept until 9 am this morning. Really made up for my lack of sleep the night before..
I am taking a rest day from running today and completed Day 61 of my 12 week challenge- Cardio Classic and will do some weights for Shoulders & Arms. I love my Challenge- works so well with running..

I also have been maintaining my weight within my range. Not so easy but very close to that center weight. Yeah!!

Wishing all a Great Day!

Can't believe I have had a "24 hr. bug" for more than 24 hrs!!! I'll bet I haven't had one in 40 years. But since I have had other illnesses this winter, I think my resistance is down and I got this bug. Sure is miserable but hasn't made me completely down.
Rode to Punta Gorda but stayed in car while DH got my sister off for her flight. Did some menial tasks at home, washing all dishes in Clorox water, cleaning out refrigerator (to some extent) and then rested so I could go to see "New Odyssey" which was a most unusual music entertainment. 3 men played 30 different instruments, sang, shared instruments in different ways and entertained us for 2 hrs. and then 15 minutes of encores.
That's it until tomorrow!!!

My sister's last day here! We took a morning walk. went to morning announcements, did an hour of water aerobics, went out to dinner, she decided to play bingo at Clubhouse with a friend and I'm too tired to do my Sparkin". It is very hot and I may have to turn on the A/C.
Talk with you tomorrow!

Good Morning! Another Beautiful Day here in NC! Temps will be reaching 74 degrees. Amazing after being so cold for so long.

Today is a Weight Training Day, but after my coffee, I will do an express cardio workout, just to get my heart rate going.

I am planning on meeting SIS later for a walk around the Lake..

Good Morning! Happy Super Tuesday!!

I sure don't like waking up when it is dark.. Still trying to get use to the time change.
Enjoying my coffee and will start up my QFS Challenge in a bit. I also want to get outside for a short run before the rain arrives. Temps should be pleasant... Hopefully we saw the last of winter but here in NC,, you never know. Last year we had freezing temps up until April 15th..

I love reading about you doing your water aerobics. I am looking forward in getting my mother back for her aquatic physical therapy.

Wishing all a Wonderful Day!!

Glad you got out for a run, Sharon! And that the weather has warmed up in Raleigh!
It is lovely here and perfect for water aerobics which Kathy and I enjoyed and then sat in the sun for a while. She leaves for PA on Thurs. and we will miss her, but grandson, Ryan, arrives the next day for a week. Hope everyone got the week off to a good start!!!

Good Morning!! I hope you all had a Wonderful Weekend!

Time Change messed me up a bit. Saturday I woke real early, 3:30 am and then on Sunday's planned run, woke late??

I got out for a 9.3 mile Run for my Long Run on Sunday. It really felt great and the temps were perfect. I am glad I just had a light wind breaker on in the morning because it really warmed up halfway through my run. I looked at my Garmin and my last run was 2/14.. Yikes!

My first Half Marathon for 2015, Rock N Roll, is in a month and my training has been very sparse. I am getting so excited. My SIS is planning on being there to see me cross the finish line.. I hope one day she might try it. When we get together for our walks/ I do get her to do a little running. My nephew has started and loves it.

Wishing you all a Great Week!

Oh my! I forgot to post and it is 11:30 PM...

I got my Long Distance Run in this morning.. 9.3 miles and felt great. The temps were perfect and the Sun was Shining. I did lots of yard work in the afternoon- cleaning up tree branches from the ice storm. Now that was a 2 hour workout..

Carol, I know someone who moved to Kissimmee. Her husband worked at Disney... We lived in Maitland and Longwood for a little bit. That area is sure known for their Lakes..

I am exhausted! Night All!

Full day which started bright and early. Went to early church at 9, then left for Kissimmee arriving just after 11, ate and visited with nephew and family for several hours.
Then got groceries in two stores, rushed home to put everything away, then off to Bible Study group who had a wonderful pot luck dinner for couple moving back to Illinois. Host and wife live on a lovely lake and we walked out on pier to see sunset.
Home before 9 and ready to call it a day!

Yes, we did enjoy the Art Show and bought a beautiful picture frame for a granddaughter. Got one two years ago for older GD so thought we should get one for Ms Katelyn. Lady nearby makes them and after a stroke and being in a wheelchair, her son convinced her she could continue doing the work with her left hand.
She buys old jewelry and decorates a frame heavily with it. We love them and she is such a sweetheart. They are pricey, but beautiful and unique. Wish I could take photos and put them on here.
Tomorrow we are going to early church and then to Kissimmee to meet our nephew for dinner. Maybe get back on time for dinner in evening with our Bible Study Group. So much eating out lately.
Hope you have a lovely Sunday!

Good Morning Team! Yeah! It's the Weekend and we will be warming up once again..

I woke real early this morning! I guess I am ready for the time change, warmer temps and Spring Flowers.

I will be doing Day 55 of my 12 week challenge and then debating whether to do long run today or Sunday. Half Marathon coming up April 12th. Yikes! Just around the corner.

Have a fun time at the Art Show!

If my hip does not hurt after today's water aerobics I'll know it is better!!!
We had an ambitious little French Canadian lead our class today and she kept us moving with different exercises. She is a Fitness and aerobics instructor without an ounce of fat on her body. I was afraid she would be too hard on old ladies, but we kept up with her - most of the time. I got my early morning walk in also.
Tomorrow we are off to the Art Show in Bartow - which is always a good one.

Good Morning! Well, today will be the roller coaster for weather. I see we are at 60 degrees right now. Hard to believe later today we will have rain and sleet.

Carol, I always loved seeing the Manatees around the Safety Harbor Pier. What a beautiful site. I miss my Runs along Bayshore and seeing the Sun come up over Tampa Bay.. Even alligators around Coopers Bayou.

I am getting ready for Day 54 of my 12 week challenge. So far, I have not gotten out for my run. I will try today before the temps change, even if it is around the block. I hope to do long run on Sunday.

Hi, didn't know you were getting such fluctuation in temps. Great way to catch cold!!!
Went to see the manatees today - 3 hrs. each way - only to find the temps are now too warm and they probably won't return to Crystal River until next year.
But we did go to Homosassa State Park where they have four injured ones who can't go back to the deep, so we did see them and saw them fed romaine. Interesting talk about them.
On way home saw a real example of "road rage" and had to call 911 twice about it. Police did pull her over after many, many miles. What an exasperating situation!!!
So I'm very tired and headed to bed soon.

Good Morning! Happy Wednesday!

I finally got a good night sleep. I did not sleep well the night before and I felt like no energy the whole day yesterday. I could not push myself out the door for my run and I have too much going on today when temps might get as high as mid 70's! Tomorrow we may have snow. Crazy roller coaster with the weather and so unusual for NC. I may end up just running on Sunday and I will attempt to do 9 miles Galloway Style- Run/ Walk..

Wishing all a happy hump day!!

Gorgeous day - walked and did water aerobics. Slept 40 min this afternoon, then sister and I visited couple in their lovely motor home. Chuck played ball. Tired tonight in spite of nap.
Plan to go towards west coast tomorrow to see the manatees who gather in warm water around the power plants' dam on the Crystal River. Will report on that tomorrow!

Good Morning! Happy Tuesday!

I woke very early this morning and could not get back to sleep! Yikes! Only slept a few hours. I have a slight headache. It might be sinus pressure. The weather has been a roller coaster. Monday 60 degrees, Today 30's, Wednesday up to 70 degrees and then Thursday possible snow. I really am having a hard time adjusting.

Yes, Carol, I think we are on the same schedule. I sure enjoyed my sleep while taking those meds. I am beginning to wonder if that's why I couldn't sleep well last night? Only a few hours. The weight I gained while taking those meds is slowly coming off.

Today is a weight training day and I hope to get out for my run. I hope to do 7-8 miles to stay on track. I missed my long run last week so this will be it for today. I wish I could run Wed. but have doctor appointment. The one day temps will reach 70 degrees.

Carol, I am really looking forward in meeting you and Mary Ellen and the rest of the gang!!
I hope when you are back we do all get together!!

Wishing everyone a Great Day! Be Happy!!

Guess we are on similar schedule, Sharon, as I have weaned myself off the muscle relaxers and arthritis meds. I walked about 35 minutes today and did water aerobics for the first time in 3 months. I am very tired tonight but think my back/hip may be handling it okay. I did not do the aerobics that involved swinging legs from hip joints, etc. and plan to do alternative ones when class does something I think might stir uo that pinched nerve.
Going to bed early so I can get up and try it all again tomorrow.
We will miss MaryEllen but hope she has a great trip!
Glad you are back to exercise and sure hope that bad weather is over with for this year.

Good Morning! Happy Monday!

Back to my routine after a week off. My back feels totally recovered now. 1st night without muscle relaxants and I slept very good.

Day 50 of my QFS Challenge and week 6 of my Galloway 12 week HM Training. Now I hope the weather cooperates. During my week off we have had Sleet, Snow and Rain and single digits temps. Very unusual for NC..

Wishing all a Great Day and Week!

Did March come in like a lion or a lamb in your area? Let's hope Spring comes soon to all of you!
We had a nice Sunday with a very impressive church service. Soloist is one of our favorites and she delivers a powerful message in music. Our friend gave a great testimony and the Communion Service was meaningful as well as Pastor's message.
We did our Bible Study Lesson before church, listened to Joel, and had a good Bible Study this evening. In between my sister and I went to Avon Park for a few things. So we had a busy day!!!

What a rainy morning. I think we had some freezing rain and now it looks like rain..

I am taking a rest day but plan to be back on track Monday with my Quick Fit System Challenge and 12 Week Jeff Galloway Half Marathon Training... My back is now pain free, knock on wood. Resting for a week was great and will feel totally energized to start back to my training. I only hope now that the weather will cooperate.

We did not go out for my mother's birthday. My mother and I were set for an early evening dinner and then sis could not make it only early afternoon for a lunch. Too stressful to get my mother ready and she had some pain in her feet.

Oh well, maybe next year!

Wishing all a Wonderful Day!!
