I usually do better in summer, because the wrokload is much lighter and I have more time for myself.

I think it's a bit easier to eat healthy in the summer, because there are so many fresh veggies and fruits in season. So that helps. But...when it gets too hot, I have trouble getting the motivation to exercise...I actually do better with exercise in the spring and fall. So...a toss up!

I swim and do water aerobics in indoor pools. I like to walk outside when the weather allows.

I do much better when I weigh myself every day. I get into trouble when I don't want to know or see the numbers. My goal for February is to weigh in every morning, no matter what.

Yes, I definitely agree. Everything counts.

emoticon 1/19 How often do you weigh-in?

I step on the scale every morning. I Iike to see how yesterday's choices effected my weight.
This is how I figured out that for me, it's crucial to stop with the evening eating and avoid carbs.

I agree, 4ROSEMARY, even 15 minutes does make a difference. Maybe you could break it into 3 mini-activities just to get you started. Sometimes I get up during TV commercials, fold laundry or sweep the floor, or you could even just march in place.

Weekends are usually the best time for me to get some exercise. Depending on weather, it's the best time for hubby and I to try to take a long walk. We'll either go for an hour walk near our house, or we'll drive to a local lake or a park and take an even longer hike. It's my favorite kind of workout, to get outside, get exercise, and spend time together. I need to work on getting more exercise during the week, even just 15 minutes...that would help, I'm sure!

Yes, I work out on weekends. I do a minimum of 30 minutes of some kind of activity every day, unless I am quite ill with flu or something similar. It can be active housework or shopping, as long as I am moving. I swim laps almost every day (the minimum 30 minutes is for days when the Y is closed or something (like an appointment) has interfered with my schedule.

There is an awesome older woman at the gym who is quite the athlete. She just turned 90, plays golf, works out, and swims regularly with Masters team. She gave up running road races a couple of years ago because it depressed her that there was no one her age to compete with--some of her friends had passed away. She totally rocks!

In my free time, I swim, teach water aerobics to adults, teach parent/child swim classes. I love to read and cook/bake. I enjoy knitting, need to make more time to do it.

My free time has pretty much revolved around my daughters interests. Other than that, games, tv, and the biggest waste of time---Youtube. I'll start off watching a music video and 2 hours later I'm cracking up at a British couple just hanging out on their couch talking about stuff.

Hi Team! I have the goal to break 200 in 2017 also. I lost 16 pounds in 2016, but gained back 2 over the holiday. I actually thought that was pretty good, overall! I'd love to lose 15 pounds this year, but would be happy with 10...that would get me just under 200.

I also have the goal to declutter my house. I'm on the FlyLady team too, so I want to focus on cleaning and having a home that is pleasant and helps me reach my goals. A clean house would be less stressful, and would make it easier to make healthy meals, relax more, etc.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Mine is to lose enough pounds to break 200, build consistency and incorporate more real food & exercise into my daily life. We'll see how it goes, one day at a time..

That sounds familiar! It takes such a long time to lose the pounds, and then they come back so quick if we're not careful.

Found it! I try to cut back on unnecessary carbs. I've done well, at times, with South Beach diet. But when I "fall off the wagon" I tend to fall hard! And that wagon is very hard to catch up and climb back on.

12/29 Do you follow any particular diet program?

No, I don't. I try to eat almost everything in moderation (portion control). I don't like diets, and the yo-yo effect it has on me.
I want to avoid carbs (sweets, pasta, rice, bread, anything made of wheat or with white sugar).
Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I struggle.

Not really. I ate less than last year. First I filled my plate with salads, then meat, then just a bit of potatoes. I didn't drink juices/sodas. But, I couldn't resist the cakes.
