I started 2019 at 210, and recently made it to 189! The keto diet and intermittent fasting are working well for me. It's been a slow up-and-down process, yet I never felt like giving up because I didn't feel deprived or hungry, and was content to maintain or lose slowly. I watch a lot of YouTube videos for inspiration, recipes, and understanding the science behind insulin resistance, carbohydrates, and weight loss. Best of luck everyone, and Happy Holidays!

Hello to anyone who is here. Been off spark for several months but I plan on coming back. Weight has been creeping up! Planning on retiring at the end of October. I decided to go low-carb this year. The keto diet isn't what I need so hoping this will suit me better. I've just ordered a book of recipes with ingredients I can find here in Europe but will have a look at what you've put on-line. Thanks for doing that. emoticon

If anyone is interested in some low carb recipes, I posted links in my latest blog to the fat head pizza dough, Parmesan crackers, and hash browns (using cauliflower and radishes). These are recipes I've made and really liked, and plan to make again.

Bitter cold here this morning...down to about 5 degrees (F) this morning! The sun is shining at least.

Not much activity on the team lately, but wanted to check in. I went low carb in 2018 and had some success. Now in 2019, I'm doing a strict keto diet. I find it really does help control your appetite...it was so surprising to learn that! The more carbs you eat, the more you are always hungry, and the less carbs you eat, the less you crave them. My plan for 2019 is to keep carbs to under 20 grams a day. (It may be best to ease into it if you are new to this idea...there is a ton of info about the keto diet...feel free to get in touch with me if you are interested, and I'll give some resources.) I wish everyone the best with their goals in 2019!

emoticon I made pizza for dinner using the "fathead" dough recipe which is low carb. Turned out great! You can find many recipes on YouTube if you search for Fathead dough, but it's basically mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, almond flour, and an egg...sounds strange, but tasted great! I rolled it out too thin, so it didn't hold together very well when I cut it, but next time I'll make it thicker. I was thinking this dough would also be great for cheese crackers, or for a substitute for tortilla chips to dip into salsa. I liked this pizza dough much better than the cauliflower crust.

Ready to get serious about my plan again...no more reasons not to for the next month (birthdays, anniversaries and special events are over with), so here we go! I'm doing a low carb, modified keto diet, with some intermittent fasting as well.

Howdy Team! How's your journey to ONEderland going?
My progress is slow- but going forward. I have been 3 weeks below a "barrier" weight that I had trouble breaking through. Not far below, but below.

I recently joined a program from Blue Cross/Blue Shield called OMADA. It is for people who have or are at risk for type 2 diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease. If you have this insurance, consider looking into this program. Some aspects are similar to Sparkpeople (tracking food and exercise). Omada has more accountability but SP has more features- so I am trying to keep up with both.

So far I have a new recipe for a savory snack of tomato, mozzarella cheese with balsamic and basil. And a NO COOK oatmeal! (1/2 c steel cut/ old fashioned oats, soaked overnight in almond milk (unsweetened). In AM add a fruit and either honey or peanut butter (just a tsp of sweetness). Its very good and filling!

Record breaking heat yesterday and today in the Desert Southwest of USA.
I set my alarm for 5 AM and walk my dog between 5:30 and 6:30 AM.
Sometimes I do wii fit, sometimes I do some of the sparkpeople exercises. I also have a couple SP aerobic/ strength videos. Today, I went swimming.

4ROSEMARY - emoticon for your support! emoticon Yes, we have all hoped that they will win the cup, but we are proud of their silver. There was a total cheering madness in the streets of our capital city yesterday as a crowd of thousands welcomed the players back home. Their bus was moving so slowly from the airport through the crowd of fans that it took them 6 hours to finally get to the centre of Zagreb.



And emoticon on the pound lost! I'm also a slow loser, it takes a while for the body to show results. Summer heat can definitely take a toll on the body, if you slow down, stay indoors more, stop moving so much, have a different routine, anything can affect weight loss.

Selina, I was hoping for Croatia to win the soccer final too! Well, I was hoping for England, but after they lost, I hoped for Croatia. I'm not normally a big sports fan, but did enjoy watching this tournament. I love how they don't have commercials throughout the game (only before half time, etc.), and since I had it recorded, I could fast forward through those. It was funny to see the world leaders getting soaked in the rain at the award ceremony! Anyway, your country did great, coming in second, and should be proud!

I'm struggling with weight loss this month. Seems like the heat of summer makes everything difficult, doesn't it? The scale finally moved, and I lost a pound this past week, after being stuck for a month. I hope it's the beginning of a trend!

I cooked a soup yesterday night so that I don't repeat the same mistake as these days, so we'll see how it goes.

By the way, emoticon Croatia (aka my home country), is in the soccer world cup finals!! I'm not really into sports, but emoticon FIFA world cup is always a big deal in Croatia, the whole fan frenzy going around. We beat England yesterday in the semi-finals. We can't wait for Sunday's final match against France! emoticon

Hi Selina,
I don't have a baby to contend for my attention but I do have a dog.
I just find it hard to want to cook for just me.
My other challenge is in eating breakfast. I find that when I eat early (right after walking the dog), I have "the munchies" for the rest of the day. So I end up putting off eating until I am actually hungry.

One last challenge I am having a lot of trouble with is that I have lost enough weight that my pants and shorts are loose and I can pull them off without having to undo them. BUT I have not lost enough to get a smaller size. I have even had to buy bigger sizes because the styles are tight fitting.

Good luck with your meal planning and prep. I am working on that, too. (I think lunch today will be a ham and cheese sandwich on whole grain bread w/ mayo made w/ olive oil. Add lettuce and tomato and mustard.)

Who would have guessed that going back to a 3-meals-a-day plan would be so difficult? It usually works for me, I stop binge eating, but this time with my baby around, it's hard to cook at the exact time of lunch. I need to work on preparing meals earlier.

Hi everyone! My weekly weigh in shows I have lost one pound. Not much but---I am happy anyway. So now I weigh 226 (starting weight 230) --- 27 more pounds till Onederland and 66 more pounds till my goal weight.

Does anyone have Comcast cable? Over the weekend I discovered I can now watch YouTube videos on my TV, even though it is an old TV (not a flat screen).

Just last week I had to call and spent an hour on the phone with them, since our last package with a discount expired. This round I had to give up 10 TV channels to keep the same price (including the Turner Classic Movie channel, which I liked). However, apparently we've gained "high def" capabilities, even though our TV isn't, and the new bundle includes the ability to watch YouTube through the "apps" and "web" sections on-demand. I changed the settings menu to high-def, and then I could get them.

I'm excited about this, because now I can exercise by dancing to YouTube videos again. Where my computer is located I don't have enough room to dance, but I have room where my TV is. I like putting on videos of my favorite music, which for me is music from the 1960s, and dancing around. Of course, there are also tons of traditional exercise videos on YouTube..something for everyone's tastes.

Just wanted to mention it, because it was a new "find" to me, in case anyone was interested. This will be my exercise plan for the summer, since it is getting hot...into the 90s this week!

Hope you all have a great rest of your weekend! I went to yard sale yesterday and found some very nice quality clothes for only a dollar or less, she was so kind and genersous! Her son even offered me a water!




All we need to find a yard sale, is a big black arrow, easy to see, we don't have time to read the other stuff!
