Thanks for the explanation, Phebes. Even though it is 'non invasive' it certainly does not sound easy. We can all hope for an easier prep process someday! You really have been through it. Glad you can eat now and recover.

Nell, my dad (who was 88 when he passed away) had problems reaching his toes or whatever. And yes, Medicare made arrangements for someone to come to his house every month or two and give him a pedicure. (No polish though, LOL.) My dad actually enjoyed it.

Okay, a virtual colonoscopy. Not all insurance companies will cover this unless there's a medical necessity. (My dad had what's called a redundant colon, meaning extra loops - my dr told me I had a redundant redundant colon, meaning even more extra loops. I woke up during my first colonoscopy saying "ow ow ow" - they had to call the anesthesiologist to put me under even more sedation. Plus I had bruises on the OUTSIDE of my stomach. And couldn't eat solid food for 2 weeks after the procedure. So that's why my current medical provider agreed, we'll do the virtual colonoscopy. And why the insurance co. paid for it.)

So you do the usual clear liquids all day and then the horrible salty stuff to clean out your intestines. An hour after the final dose, you drink a bunch of almost as bad "barium milkshake" which is horrible and chalky. Three hours after that, a small bottle of clear stuff that smells like airplane glue. With a cup of juice or water.

Then go to the imaging place. They insert a tube and basically inflate your intestines. (Yeah, it's pretty uncomfortable.) Run you through the CT scan machine. Twice on your back. Then twice through on your stomach. And that's it. Then you get to run to the bathroom and get rid of as much of the air as you can. (That's as politely as I can explain it.)

And that's it. Supposedly it isn't quite as exact as the usual colonoscopy. But for someone who has problems with the usual kind, it's a better option.

Best part - I can actually eat food right now! Including vegs! My stomach is still grumbly, but nothing horrible like last time. So I'll just do the virtual thing until the doctors come up with something better.

Hope that explains it to people who were asking.

I didn't have time to look for my brain today, I was in and out of the office all day, mostly stuck in traffic. I hope I'm more productive tomorrow. Can it just be Friday already?

I knew about the toe nail clippings because of my mom. When she first was told she was diabetic they took care of her feet. I'm not sure what happen with it since she seemed to just stop getting it done. She found the process embarrassing since her feet are so ticklish.

Good morning all, yes sleeping with the window open is wonderful except we live on a go,f course and if the maintenance crew happen to be working nearby it can be noisy. I do get up early so it usually is not too much of a problem. It is a treat some nights wher we hear the coyotes howling. I hate to think about what is happening though. Probably some poor animal has been trapped by them.....
Off to the gym this morning then we are having lunch with our son and DIL. That is definitely something to look forward too.

We received 2 offers last night. Hubby and I had a great discussion on where we are and what we want to do. Our realtor probably isnít going to be real happy, but it is what it is. So of course I woke up early this morning with the spiel in my head of what we want to share with him tonight. We have another showing at 4:30 and then will meet with our realtor on the 2 offers received. emoticon emoticon

I have my personal trainer today. Hubby tweaked his back yesterday so no gym for him today. And he was also supposed to go fishing today and had to decline. Poor guy. emoticon

Sunny ~ emoticon It is hard to get people to clean the way you do.

Natalie ~ Great pic. And emoticon your kids were golden.

Dee ~ Hope you find your brain soon. emoticon

Phebess ~ Now that is a reason to set the alarm. emoticon

Maree ~ Make that dent. emoticon

PoindExtra ~ Amazing. Glad you are recovering so quickly. emoticon

Nell ~ Happy slipper shopping. emoticon

Bess ~ Happy presentation. emoticon

JamirBlaze ~ How was that ST? emoticon

Toni ~ Iíll have to let my hubby know about the nail clipping. I love my pedicures. He wants me to clip his nails, but I donít even do my own. emoticon

Cat ~ Enjoy your no time for boredom day. emoticon

Kellie ~ Nice job on your emoticon

Hey all! A virtual colonoscopy! I would love to know more. DH refuses to get one. Says whatever happens to him happens to him.

Sounds like a great vacation Natalie. Beautiful family.

Dee, I hope your fog cleared today. Some days are like that.

good luck on the presentation Bess!

Continuing Nike app saga.... I set up training for Oct 18 race date since that is the earliest it would let me, then skipped ahead to the week I should be on for the real Sept 25 half marathon. Too long to type, the app is so rediculous. But I'll keep on keepin on. Obstacles were meant to be overcome.

I got a good 4-mile run in yesterday after work. I didn't start out well but I powered through.

Yes - another open window night, and it is such a welcome sleep aid!

Off to the airport this morning, then readying for visitors for supper. Certainly no time to get bored around here!

Poindextra, so glad you're healing so well! Phebess, hope you're over your ordeal. I have that ahead of me...not looking forward to it, but hoping for some answers.

Have a good day team!

Good morning. I'm slowly re-entering the world of work and day to day schedules. Great to hear the buzzing on the thread. Inspiring!

Yesterday I cleaned my office where all piles go to live when I'm moving fast. Tasks emerge as I do it. I keep a list handy and it grew yesterday. I took time to do the important work of writing some thank you notes and catch up on other correspondence.

Nell, I did know about the need for nail clipping among the elderly, but not that Medicare paid for it. I do know that taking an older person out for a pedicure can be a real treat. Hard to get men in there though! In good care centers they offer that service. My dear mom had her hair and nails done the day before she died. Just like she liked. It is a sweet memory as she liked to take care of herself that way.

Have a good day, everyone. toni

Happy Hump Day! Busy one working an expo most of the day. I'm more of an introvert, so this takes a lot of my energy, but this too shall pass. It's usually worth it.

Cardio kickboxing last night with a nice stretch. Some sort of ST tonight on the agenda, if I don't fall straight into bed when I get home. emoticon

Hope that everyone has a good one!

Ditto that fresh air comment, Maree. We've slept with windows open for 2 nights and it's a different kind of sleep. Welcome different. Pondextra - so proud of you for just doing the next best thing. Natalie - what an adorable family you have. And you look as fit as a fiddle. Su - it was great to hear from you the other day - and to hear those words "it felt like autumn". Oooo I love autumn and it can never come soon enough for me.

I have a big presentation today - I'm confident about it and looking forward to it - but I'll also be glad when it's over. One More Thing crossed of the ThingsToDo list. LOL - of course new things always get added to that list.

My weigh-in at WW last night was encouraging and though there are many gatherings up ahead, none of them are really foodie things till the end of October. I should be able to hold my own. I'm still not getting the kind of fitness I like, though. Better do some planning and organizing and scheduling.

Okay, m'dears. Happy Hump Day.

Yesterday we took Mom to the foot doc and as I thought, it was just a corn. He scraped it off, it hurt Mom, but she forgot about it once he was done. Then he cut her toenails. I had no idea they were that long, didn't know she couldn't reach her feet to cut her own nails. It never occurred to me that someone couldn't reach their toenails. Medicare will pay for a toenail clipping every 61 days, so it must be a common problem.

Today my sister and I will take Mom out to lunch at Cracker Barrel, then to DSW to look for new slippers.

Good morning everyone,

Phebess, I hope you're recovering from yesterday's ordeal. I'll have to look up "virtual colonoscopy, though - I've never heard of that!

Dalid, I hope you feel better today.

Nell, I hope things went OK with your Mom once you got the garage door fixed.

It was nice to get to the office yesterday - I felt like a rock star, with so many people surprised to see ma and asking how I was doing. Yesterday evening was exactly 2 weeks from the accident, so I am coming along pretty quickly.

I got up with hubby this morning to help him get out the door. I felt awake enough, so figured I'd do the morning Sparking and then take a little lay-down if needed before starting my workday. Today will be work from home - taking it easy.

Good morning!

Ah, hump day and I get to stay in town. We have an "all hands call" this morning, but other than that, no scheduled meetings so an opportunity to make a dent in my stack of work. If the rain holds off, my friend and I might be able to get a luncheon walk in. Nothing like fresh air while enjoying this last month of summer. Whether outdoors or in the gym, it seems we've all found an exercise routine that provides balance!

Hope all have a great day!
