Better late than never! Out of town for the day, and no access to computer.

NOT a good day with food choices, topped with a lot of time driving in the car. Hope tomorrow isn't too horrible of a day with the scale.

The weekend was WAY too short. Now I just have to survive the work week and heat wave to enjoy the 3-day weekend coming up.
My brain fog doesn't feel like it has lifted, but I'll know for sure once I get to work tomorrow.

May we all have a fast work week emoticon

Hello all. Just read everyone's posts from the weekend. I too have had wonderful customer service with FitBit.

This weekend got away from me. LOTS of running. I wish the half marathon would get here. I'm nearing the end of my patience for training. Am I too old for this? Who knows? I'm sure I'm just tired. It was a VERY humid 11-mile run today. Sweat flicked off my hands like I was holding tiny sprinklers.

Well, better get back to planning workouts and runs this week. I hope everyone has a wonderful evening!

We also ate stuffed cabbage.....a Ukrainian dish referred to as holupchi or as we Canadians called it...cabbage rolls. Sounds like we made it the same way with seasoned hamburger. rice and tomato soup. Very yummy especially when the cabbage is so lovely and fresh right now.
Maree. What a lovely evening. I sure remember those days when we did not leave the dance floor. What a perfect evening
Today will be a very low key day for me. I spent way too much time in the kitchen yesterday and I have to admit I am a little weary. It is cooler out so maybe a walk will be in order.

We are off to Paso today. Will be looking at several houses including the one we are the most interested in so far. Plan to spend some time at the house to really make sure. Since they didn’t accept the deal with the earth work, we are thinking about adding a deck off the back if we get the house. emoticon

Probably no workout today since it is a travel day. emoticon

Sunny ~ How is the gym at the hotel? emoticon way to compensate for the dinner.

Donna ~ Were you able to dine outside? I love eating outside. emoticon

Phebess ~ We’ve been noticing the cooler nights. The season does seem to be changing. emoticon

Maree ~ What a perfect day. emoticon

Toni ~ Sometimes those old family recipes are the best. emoticon

Poindextra ~ Yep, listen to your body. You will thank yourself later. emoticon

Bess ~ Enjoy your goof off day. emoticon

Nell ~ I couldn’t imagine having to shovel snow. Ugh. emoticon

Sounds like hubby may be packing. Guess I better check.

As It gets closer to Fall the hot days of summer do get shorter and the nice morning and evening hours increase. Went to bed early after a day of swimming and playing with the GS, but I did eat too much for dinner but avoided the ice cream for dessert.

Maree, when I was young the end of summer meant going back to school, so I was sad. Then the end of summer meant the kids were going back to school and I was thrilled. Now it'm more like "where did the time go?" Just yesterday the pools were opening. Now they close a week from tomorrow. My favorite weatherman says that meteorological seasons begin on the first of the month, and it's the astronomical seasons that begin on the equinox or the solstice. It's going to be a scorcher today, but the sun goes down a lot earlier and comes up later. I love defined seasons, but hate winter. Actually I hate snow. I don't have to shovel heat, so I'll take it.

Off to church soon.

Oh Toni - those family recipes are so precious. We have a family dessert that comes out at important occasions. We even snuck one into the restaurant where we had lunch after Mama and Daddy's funerals. Well. those are things that link us to our heritage.

sunny - I think it is adorable that you're taking your gs to a fancy resort because he loves hotels. I remember how magical I found it the one time we stayed in one - in Miami when I was 7. Went to see Seaworld. This would have been 1960. Back then we almost never ate out or stayed with people who weren't relatives. We were all a lot slimmer back then too. Good luck on the house sale, Terri. Poindextra - good for you for listening to your body.

I will take y'all's advice and call the fitbit people and see what they offer. Today is cooler and it'll be a lolling, goof off, take it easy kind of day. Sweet.

Oh Toni, those galumpki sound good! At grandma's, they were "gawumpki." I didn't like them as a kid, but sure do love them now. Hmmm - hubby bought a big cabbage to use for stir-fry - maybe we should get some ground beef ...

Somehow I got 5K steps on my fitbit yesterday. That's by far the most activity I've gotten since I broke my hip. I don't plan to keep up that level every day right now, but my steps have slowly been increasing. So far, I seem to require a 2 hour nap every afternoon around 4 PM. The only drawback to that is that I've been having a really hard time getting to sleep at night. Oh well - my body must need the rest, so I'll give it what it needs, whenever it needs it:).

I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

Good morning!

Love thinking about you and your DH dancing the night away, Maree. The best kind of work out for sure.

I did some old fashioned cooking yesterday. I had a fabulous head of cabbage from a friend's garden so I stuffed it with lean beef, rice, onion and some more interesting spices and baked it long. This is an old recipe that my mom used to make, adding tomato sauce. In our home it was called "Gulumpki" which sounds 'lumpy' and fatty, but the recipe is really pretty healthy. It was fun to learn to roll these up and think of all the years my mother, and probably my grandmother did this with such simple ingredients. Tonight it will be dinner.

For some crazy reason I have not been drinking enough water so today I am laser focused on doing just that as well as other good things. Happy Sunday all!

Good morning!

I vow every summer not to complain about the heat because I really don't like winter and being cold and the shorter daily sunshine. Despite the fact that summer is not officially over until September 22 or so, and there's still a lot of good boating weather during autumn, I fight a sense of sadness as Labor day approaches, the sun rises later and sets sooner. I can't explain it--maybe all those years of "back to school ".

We had a WONDERFUL time at the party yesterday. The three daughters did a great job planning. DH and I danced every song from about 8:30 pm until 10:00 pm--and then took a break to visit with guests. We walked back to the boat around 11:00 pm. What a workout! What a great day! What blessings!

Hope all have a great day!
