Had a lovely restful day today, other than the usual housecleaning, but the sun was shining, the dogs were happy to play outside rather than their wintertime usual habit of looking so pitiful when I mention the word 'outside' that I give in and share the warmth of the heating with them. Yesterday they were outside with me all day while I mowed and mowed...and mowed the overgrown 'lawn', thanks to constant heavy rain over many weeks, with only one or two dry days amongst them. We all slept well last night.

I tried fixing my medic alert bracelet - it had something rough sticking out that kept catching on my shirts. So I tried to smooth out the extra thing, and cut it off. Ended up breaking the crimp bead. Had to go out to Michael's this morning, buy more crimp beads, and some beading wire - and re-string the beads, the info placket, and re-attach the clasps with the crimp beads - being careful to leave no rough edges.

That was the most exciting part of the day, LOL! Just a mellow day of not doing much. Some days end up like that - probably a good thing.

Got all the Saturday chores done today, since yesterday was used for car maintenance. It's felt like 2 lazy days, since I've been napping in the afternoons. I'll try to keep a more work-like schedule tomorrow, but we'll see. I'm sure no matter what I do Tuesday is going to be a rough work day.

Oooh, all these memories of sewing speak to my heart!

My mom taught me to sew pretty young, and how to use the sewing machine. by the time I had sewing Home Ec. in 7th grade, all the other girls made flat aprons, and I made a pair of fake suede gaucho pants (plum colored)!

Even now that I'm thin I have a hard time finding clothes that fit right - I've got a small waist, larger hips/thighs, and a very short torso. But, my proportionally longer legs are just too long to fit into petite pants (though I often need petite tops). So, I toy with the idea of making my own pants, but just haven't made the time to do it.

I sewed a lot in high school, and even made patterns from pictures in books! I made an Edwardian skirt for a school play costume (still have that in a box somewhere - I should see if it fits my post-surgery thinness!), and even a belly dancer's costume when I was Fatima the Dancing Doll in a community theatre production of Alladin. I remember a green bias-cut circle skirt, and think I may have even made a shirt with poufy set in sleeves. Oh how I love the feel of fabric gliding through the sewing machine under my hands ...

We got the buyerís request for fixes and have a plan to place to accept/reject etc. I am pretty sure we are going to be able to come to a consensus that is agreeable to both of us. My hubby is having a hard time because he is a fix it man. With the holiday, there are people we canít get in touch with emoticon and the realtor doesnít want my hubby to do anything until we have his guy look at the things (second opinion).

I am hoping we will go to the Farmerís Market today. emoticon emoticon emoticon It is really a nice day. We will start to heat up tomorrow. Also I think a gym visit is in order. It will be good for both of us.

Nell, we had two of those closets in our room for four of us girls. My goodness, times were so different weren't they. Yes we all did sew in our house two. How could you afford clothes if you didn't make them. Fabric stores were awesome in those days. I would spend hours looking at patterns and fabrics. Now I don't even have a sewing machine.
Today I am making dill pickles with my son and DIL. It will be an enjoyable day working together.
I love this fall weather. Kelly your days sounds great. Enjoy your ride.
Nell, good luck finding a new purse. It's been a long time since I have spent time at the mall just browsing.
Bess, your cousin is a lucky young lady to have someone like you to spend the weekend with What fun!

Bess, when I was growing up in Wilmington, Delaware, there was a fabric finishing plant (long gone now) in town, with an outlet next door. Instead of bolts, it was all remnants on tables. That place was magical, all my clothing and curtains and bedspreads came from remnants I got there. Sewing was one of the "womanly arts", and all girls learned to sew in Home Ec. Mom's old Brother sewing machine got quite the workout from Mom, my sister and me. My sister and I got a $20/mo clothing allowance for everything: coats, shoes, everything, so we had to make all our own clothes. We could look at a fabric and know exactly how it would look as a finished garment. Of course, no one had as much clothing then as now. Those tiny little closets from the 50s and 60s were tiny for a reason.

Good morning maintainers. I hope you all get tomorrow off and can savor the delights of a 3 day weekend. and if you don't - I hope you get a long weekend soon.

I have my little cousin with me. We have walked miles, been caught in a shower down at the river, gone sailing, swimming and read books all piled in a bed full of dogs. then there was working a sewing machine for the first time. Mine is an ancient metal parts Sears Kenmore machine - it still smells like it did back in 1972. Sigh. Oh the memories. Oh the wardrobes that flew off of its needles. How the world has changed. I worked in a store once that was next door to a fabric shop. They knew me and every time I stopped in they'd pull a bolt out from beneath the counter and cry "Look what just came in! We thought of you immediately!"

Sigh.

Happy memories.

I take my little cousin back with me today - we're going to the baptism of a wee girl cousin and her parents will pick her up there. Sweet.

Nell, maybe the planets are out of whack in our area or something. I felt really anxious right before bed too, though mine was over the inlaws.

SIL didn't email or call yesterday, so MIL probably hasn't been moved yet. Sheesh!

Today a couple of friends are coming over to visit; we'll go out to dinner, which will be nice.

Hi all! Happy Sunday. I'm catching up on everyone's posts.

I made it to 12 miles yesterday. Longest run ever. OOF! But I'm feeling pretty good today.

Yesterday was DH's bday. I ate smart all day so I could enjoy the birthday dinner at a Mexican restaurant. The owner is just adorable. He comes out and greets everyone, shows you the specials. He's very passionate about his food. Says "Oh my God!" over everything. He came over to our table to ask how we enjoyed everything. My husband and I both said "Oh my God!" Such a big smile on his face. He hugged us when we left, I saw him hugging many people hello and goodbye.

Today, we ride. We getting on the motorcycles with some friends shortly for a long motorcycle ride to a great place for lunch. I LOVE this weather!

Good morning. I sure didn't sleep well last night, either. I kept waking up in a panic over what? I never figured it out.

I think I'll head to the mall after church, check out the pocketbooks for fall. Let's see if I can find something that the Macy's coupon actually works with. I'll do a couple of circuits of the mall while I'm there.

Good morning!

It seemed like I had a caffeine rush that prevented me from falling asleep last night. But i didn't have anything with caffeine. We had a great time at the wedding.

DD left granddaughter with us after the wedding. DD will be attending a visitation today and a funeral tomorrow and will pick her up after that. It's disappointing. But such is life.

Beautiful weather for sandbar today.

Hope all have a great day!
