Talking about husbands. Mine is 3 years older then me his doctor has told him reaptedly to loose yet but he don't listin. Then he gets anoid with me when I ate right and exercise. It's really very frustrating.

On another note had a great day and everything was right on target with eating. Except that I was just a little low on carbs. Going to try and eat more of them today.

What is it with men? DH is 6.75 yrs older than I am - but his medical stuff is taking three times as long to accomplish, and he refuses to follow doctors' orders. Makes me crazy! Plus he eats horribly, then complains about my nutrition. Ugh.

My calories came in exactly at my maximum level today. Not a calorie over or under, exactly on the number. Bizarre!

The boyfriend is only 3 years older than me and he's always talking about how old and tired he is. He's not even 40 yet! I always scold him to stop saying he's old because I'm right behind him and I refuse to get old (I'm stuck at 29 if you must know).

I went to bed feeling headachy and woke up to a full blown migraine. Even wearing my darkest shades didn't help with how bright things looked. I had to abandon all the usual errands and come home to sleep in total darkness. Still feel a dull headache, but not too bad. This is definitely going to make the weekend feel extremely short.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

Nell, there is only six years between me and my hubby but there is many years health wise. I too looked after my health and he did not. I am the care giver now and even though DH does not have the issues you are dealing with, I can see them coming and he ignores his role in preventing them as much as one can. I have given up trying to get him to pay more attention. When you love someone it is so hard to see them doing so many things that are so detrimental to their health. His golfing days are pretty much over, he cannot walk very far and has a hard time doing many things for himself. I know the next years are going to get more restricted. The one positive is he does not hesitate going to the doctor.....he just doesn't do what is recommended.
Sorry ladies, I guess the post this morning hit a nerve!!!
I got some needed cleaning in yesterday. Thanks Maree for the inspiration. Today after my walk I am going to tackle another job that has been put off for awhile.
Terri, good news on the progression of the new home. I bet you are very excited.
Toni, enjoy the book club. I am an avid reader and I know I would enjoy belonging to a group.
Diane, good news on the MIL. Now just a worry about the FIL. It is so hard to handle these problems from a distance.

From my friend Besshale.....maintenance is as much work as losing but we get to do it in cuter clothes.

Terri, my husband is 12 years older than I am, too, the same age difference that was between Price Charles and Princess Diane: I can't assume I'll outlive him. But his health isn't all that good, and he doesn't have a Camilla waiting in the wings. I am his long term care insurance, so I have to stay healthy.

I didnít get to the paperwork yesterday. But we did pay for the flooring in the new house. Fingers crossed that this all goes through. Today I may do a bit of packing and get to that paperwork. emoticon

Hubby is going to Cars & Coffee this morning. He is almost done with his list so he might have a gym visit in his future. I could use a good cardio workout. emoticon

Toni ~ How exciting to go to Italy! Does your book club read a book a month? Anything interesting lately? emoticon

Sunny ~ emoticon

Donna ~ My hubby is 12 years older than I. That is one of the reasons I planned to retire as early as possible. I want to spend as much quality time together as possible. emoticon

Dee ~ Interesting thought process. emoticon

Maree ~ emoticon day.

Poindextra ~ Hope you find that perfect cane. emoticon

Nell ~ Enjoy your easy day. Much deserved. emoticon

Up a bit early and hubby still sleeping. Coffee tastes yummy.

Good morning.

Reading about your husband brings tears to my eyes, Nell. I knew he was struggling but had never heard the story, the losses. For some reason the weight of it really hit me with your explanation this morning. What a weight for all of you to carry.

Catching up on Dalid and it sounds like...a promotion! Loved hearing how you are making your desk your own. I'm thinking in a few weeks the whole job will feel like "yours." Sure hope so.

Had to laugh a bit about the Cheesecake Factory. I have eaten there a few times, but have to admit the name alone sounds caloric. When I walked in I felt like I was gaining weight--before ordering!! Of course this is silly of me and Bess, sounds like you know how to navigate it well.

Starting this hot summer steamy day in Virginia slowly. Later I meet with my local book group. Always fun to hang out with my neighbors for a few hours and talk about a book.

Good morning. I have an easy day, lots to do but it's all here in the house. It will be another day in the upper 90s, so a good day to be indoors.

Diane, discharge to a rehab is standard now for the elderly. Medicare pays for (I can't remember the number of days) and nursing homes have rehab services as a guaranteed income stream from Medicare. It's actually a good idea, the family can get a better sense of what to expect after going home. Your FIL isn't being "childish" just normal. If words could convince people to take care of themselves, no one would be fat, alcoholism would disappear, and every student would get straight A's. There are no words to pierce the wall of denial, a wall that becomes more impenetrable with passing years. My husband didn't believe the words until his third stroke, the one that cost him his ability to ride a motorcycle and play tennis, and that took away his word retrieval ability. Not one stroke like you'd think, but three. And we all pay the price.

Happy Saturday everyone!

The cats only let me sleep until 6:30 this morning, so here I am:).

Dalid, it sounds to me like you don't think highly enough of your capabilities. I've had jobs where I literally had to make it up as I went along, and it ended up working out just fine (though it did feel REALLY uncomfortable at the time). Remember, you don't have to KNOW all the answers, just to be willing to find them or figure them out!

It looks like MIL will go to a rehab on Monday before being released to her home. And, after it seemed like he was making progress, FIL is reverting to childish "I don't wanna" when it comes to getting his health issues taken care of. I don't know if there's any way to reason with him, but I may try. I really wish they lived closer - SIL is there now, but she's got to head back home soon (to CA!), and managing from a distance may not be possible.

On my agenda today? Helping to run the Toastmaster's Area speech contest, and then to lunch with hubby. After that, cane shopping! It would be so much easier if the doc could give concrete measures of what would be "overdoing it." Ah well, I guess I'll just have to muddle through, and go with "less is more" for a while.

Good morning!

Another productive day yesterday. DH and I walked and then I worked on the house until about 2:00 pm when I got cleaned up and we left for the houseboat. I've now emptied some boxes so I can fill them with stuff to donate.

Once I got to the houseboat and settled in, I succumbed to my exhaustion. I laid down at about 5 and when I woke up at 5:30, I thought it was 5:30 am. I had slept so deeply. I fell back to sleep until 7:45, and went to bed around 10. I obviously needed that sleep

I now have a closet with a wrapping station in my home office. It's starting to feel like a place I want to be, instead of dread to be. It's getting there!

Congrats Bess. Thanks for sharing stories about setting boundaries, Bess and Jamirblaze. I've had to learn that skill. Glad to hear your good news Poindextra, and Terri.

I may lay back down. I might be fighting a sniffle. And the sun is still asleep...

Hope all have a great day!
