Bess, that blanket is too cute!!!!! Baby and parents will love it! Are you using those colors, or did you switch to a different color scheme?

Re clearing the house - if you have leftover linens, blankets, towels, blankets, etc., your local animal shelter can always use these for animal beds. Especially the stuff that's old and warn, so much that you can't donate it to even a shelter for homeless people. (We threw away very little when we left the VI. Amazing what kind of stuff can find be used elsewhere.)

Asthma dr was great - they used video games attached to various breathing meter things, which was weird and fun. Instead of stressing over the pulmonary function test, where you blow out as hard as you can for as long as you can, I got to focus on blowing out something like 25 candles. Then I floated a little girl across the screen by blowing moderately but steadily. Results - I'm using 107 to 125% of my lung capacity. Yeah, odd for someone who has asthma, drs are always amazed. I blame it on voice lessons, swimming miles for years, plus scuba diving - all activities that require breath control. Now we just have to figure out why I wheeze and cough as well as breathe well.

Funny. The blanket is published in "Quick Baby Knits." Sure doesn't look quick to me!

I know about replacing things. It took us two years to finally decide to replace our old coffee maker which was working fine except the coffee was warm instead of hot. Finally got a new one and love the hot coffee. Took another 3 months before getting rid of the old one.

We are going for a long weekend to the Grand Tetons in Wyoming tomorrow. Wanted to get away for a Fall trip since Southern Calif doesn't really get Fall. I did exercise class, walked and thoroughly cleaned yesterday. Today is walking and exericise classes. Tracking food has been very helpful and I plan to do it while we are gone to keep on top of eating right.

Dreams of old villages on top of cliffs in Italy. Toni how fun

Dee we too had parents that lived through the depression and throwing things out that are still good is very difficult. It just irks me that so many things can't be fixed and are more economical to be replaced. Eg.....electronics. But that is a whole other story isn't it?
I woke up last night with my shoulder aching again so I guess I am doing too much. Dang!!! I want this to be over with.
Bess I am going to have to google your knitting project as I have never heard of this. I made a very complicated aphgan for my son and DIL a few years ago and the whole thing was made on one circular needle. Boy if you made a mistake you had a lot of backtracking to do. It was lovely but they said it was itchy so I don't think they use it too much. As you can imagine I paid a lot of money for the wool so it makes me feel sad that it is not used more.
Terri sounds like things are moving along with your new home. You will be relieved when all is finalized.
Poindextra I can't believe your Dad is in such good shape to be travelling like that on his own. Good family genes!!! Happy 88th to him!!!
Nell good for you still driving a stick shift. You sure don't see many of those any more.
Few errands to do today and few things around the house. Also have to buy some new runners as there are way to many miles on this pair. Not sure if I will fit that In today as I am going out with DH.

Good morning, I thought I'd check in before the hectic day gets started and away from me. The 'California game' wasn't too exciting last night, I probably should have went to be earlier than I did, but I kept hoping the game would get better. I have no 'excuse' to leave early today, so we'll see what time that translates into for clock out time.

I feel silly hearing about house accumulation. In my mind I keep thinking I'm only moving things I love into my 'dream home' and not just possessions/junk. Which would theoretically keep the place empty for the first few years, until the accumulation starts happening out of necessity: we needed a couch... we needed...

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning! Leaving early today and off tomorrow to spend time with sister who is in town.

Bess-I try not to have too many things on the needles at once and few UFOs, but it happens...

Toni-Loved Italy except we made the mistake to go in July...HOT! Hope you have a great adventure.

Poindextra-I'm at the FL end of the auto train. Used to live close to the station. Hope he has a good trip.

Hope that everyone has a good one!

Agent said we should hear from the appraiser in the next couple of days. That will be a huge relief as everything else (except windows which are ordered) is done. emoticon Hubby worked all day cleaning out his room and I got another closet packed. We picked up some more boxes and are ready to get packing again today.

I have my circuit training class this morning and so need to go! This packing business is taking up a lot of time. Then when Iím done, Iím tired. emoticon Also have a lunch date today with two friends who used to work for me (we all retired around the same time) that want to say goodbye before I move.

Donna ~ I never thought of it that way (acquire only to give away). emoticon

Phebess ~ Sending good result vibes your way. emoticon

Dee ~ Glad to see you leaving on emoticon , for whatever reason works!

Maree ~ I have to admit it does feel good to really ďgoĒ through everything and make a decision. emoticon

Poindextra ~ My dad turns 89 tomorrow. emoticon

Cat ~ Nice to see you. emoticon

Toni ~ Nothing better than fresh food. emoticon

Bess ~ We are enjoying a few days of gorgeous weather too. But it is getting ready to heat up again. emoticon

Nell ~ Hubby and I are very fortunate with our daughters. emoticon Both are very heirloom oriented and would kill us if we gave something with family history away.

I beat hubby up this morning. He may not be too happy when he does get up. Went to set out his coffee and he is out. I found some emergency coffee but I donít know if that will do the trick. He can always go to Starbucks!

Good morning all.

Maree, I hate throwing things away, too, but when I finally had to move my MIL, my Aunt Rose, then my mother twice, we had two days to clear the house. There just wasn't time to be careful. That's why I started going through my own house, carefully shedding superfluous stuff. Alas, it accumulates as fast as I get rid of it. One of the things I have noticed about old people is that they wait too long to decide to clear and move, leaving the family (most of whom had to fly in for the job) no time to exercise care. I always say I don't want to do that to my kids, but it's so hard to just do it. My friends and I have tried to give family heirlooms to our kids, but they don't want it, it isn't their "style". I couldn't afford to have a "style" when I was their age, but times have changed.

I have to get my car to the shop this morning for its 105,000 mile service. I need to keep this car, there isn't another one out there that I like. Stick shifts seem to have gone out of style, at least in this country.

Great to hear from you Cat. Congratulations on the new business venture. YAY Poindextra - congratulations on driving. Wish your dad a HB from another September baby. (me) Nell - I am so full of "things I'll do when I retire" I'll have to go back to work to get a little rest. LOL. Stick to your guns, Dee - and enjoy your games.

Knit a few rows on my intarsia project - Jamerblaze - it's a baby blanket too. Let us hope it doesn't become a UFO (un-finished object) but as it's for FirstGrandchild - I think it will get done. Lord help me if this child has siblings, though. Photo when it's done. Promise.

It was way way way too pretty to spend the early evening at a gym so I came home and walked the dogs as the sun rolled down towards the horizon. Dinner on the porch for our Movieless Monday. Still enjoying my glitter bling chart.

Today I must attend county government meetings - I hope I can still get to my WW meeting. we'll just have to see.

Good morning, team!

How great that your 88 year old dad can train around and celebrate his birthday with you, Poindextra. And let's hear it for less time in the DMV as well.

Using up fresh veggies from neighbors in meals this week. Made cucumber, tomato and red onion salad and stuffed an acorn squash with spinach and a little sausage last night for dinner. I love using seasonal stuff to inspire meals.

Cultivating peaceful thoughts this morning to ease into the adventure of travel. Packing my journal too. Meanwhile, happy Tuesday all. Let's make it a good one!

Wow - talk about MIA. Lots of action here though, and can hardly get my breath. Starting up a new business, two loads of family coming this week, and I can hardly get anything extra done. Haven't even been tracking, which is a no-no. Thankfully, weight is holding steady, in spite of my neglect.

Sounds like everyone else is just as busy, just doing better at staying in touch! Will try harder, but don't know how much check-in I'll manage before next week.

Have a good week everyone!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

It sounds like we're all busy bees around here. My driving yesterday was, thankfully, uneventful. I got my disabled parking permit, and was also able to renew my license at the same time. Anything that means one less trip to the DMV is a plus in my book:).

Today I'll call the Dr. to ask a bunch of questions that I forgot when I was there last Thursday:).

And, I'll call my Dad to wish him a happy 88th birthday. We'll see him on Thursday or Friday. He'll take the auto-train to Florida on Sunday, so we'll have him for a day or 2 before he heads south.

Good morning!

Boy, I had a tough time waking up this morning. I had to take DH to an appointment yesterday afternoon which required a total of 4.5 hrs of driving. And we were tired and hungry when we arrived home at 7 pm. After dinner, I looked at the mountain of projects I have left to do, got overwhelmed and went to bed. I agree with you all about cleaning as if moving. I've lived in this house 31 years, and it holds "stuff" from deceased ancestors (my mom and a MIL), some my DD left behind.

Deep in my DNA is the aversion to throwing anything away. Donating or selling is okay. But time consuming. I think it comes from parents who lived through the depression.

I agree with the sentiment that the purging I did last week feels as good as losing weight feels.

Happy Italy planning Toni!

Hope all have a great day!
