I got to the Dr yesterday and my eye is definitely infected; anti-biotic eye drops for 7 days. So much for getting back to my swim lesson on Sunday emoticon
Another thing that made me sad was the number on the Drs scale, it pegged me in the overweight category (bmi) ***sigh*** Time to DO something about that!!

Happy almost weekend everyone!

Nell, I'm with you on retirement!!! I loved my job (teaching art at the middle school level) - but love retirement! Of course, with our travels, it's pretty easy because we're busy in other places. But it was like heading into summer vacation, full time! LOVE it!

Calories in range, some walking, and DH got his stitches out. One more week of no strenuous activity and then he's free and clear. Well, we have a few more tests for him, and maybe another one for me. But, the medical is winding down and we can start planning for Hawaii.

Hi all, had the best sleep last night that I have had in awhile. It makes you feel so refreshed. Maybe it is the cooler air coming in the room and the darkness. Off to golf this morning so looking forward to the exercise.
I too agree with the other comments thst this group definitely helps with this part of the weight loss journey. It definitely is not the easy part. I can see the scale creeping up for me and I know every pound counts. They sure are not easy to get rid of. I know we are all in the same boat and are there for each other. One pound at a time....... emoticon

Got more packing done yesterday. Still waiting to hear from the appraiser. Hopefully today or tomorrow. Also got the fire/home insurance lined up for the new house. The papers can go back to the Title Company today. emoticon

I have my circuit training class this morning and my monthly massage (last one until I find someone after we move). emoticon

Happy Friday Eve! Back at work after a visit with the sister. Had a good visit, was active. Eating? Not as good, but made decent choices, I think.

Hope that everyone has a good one!

I'm one of those people who LOVE being retired. I always heard stories of people who didn't know what to do with themselves after retiring, but I wonder how I ever found the time to work.

Bess retirement is its own journey, I wish I had read more about other people's journeys for inspiration. But the stress is less and better for health.

Sharon I agree keeping the weight off takes a village, a support team, daily affirmations and a place to rant. I made some good choices yesterday but will need to keep it up.

Sending you best of good luck wishes, Poindextra. I hope your family finds the right answer for your parents. Would they move to your area or your SiL's? I was very fortunate that I had a sister in the same city and I lived only an hours drive away from my parents. She took care of the short day to day stuff and I did the long visits. It all seems so long ago. Sigh.

My heart goes out to people with pet allergies. My niece finally found a hypoallergenic cat that her husband could live with and they're both so happy. And that cat sleeps on her husband's chest ... it's the cutest thing.

good for you, Sunny, for making a maintenance plan for your vacation. Kellie, Dave Barry says the difference between men and women is their definition of "dirt". All you retirees - I am SO so so so so ready for retirement. I know I'm gonna love it. less than a year to go. which reminds me that I have to make up my last October staff schedule today. woop woop.

Knitting on this blanket is slow but at least the yarn is delicious to the touch. Love you all. Mean it.

Good morning Sparkfriends,

I talked to MIL last night; she's now in a rehab after her back surgery (they removed a huge cyst which was pressing on the nerves), and it's apparently like a boot camp, which is good. MIL says she learned a lot about managing her blood sugar through diet while in the other 2 hospitals (even the crappy first one), so hopefully she'll stay motivated to keep up those changes when she gets home.

SIL is signing them up for meals on wheels, and also a program at their community which will give them rides to the doctor, grocery, etc. if they can't drive themselves. I'm confident that MIL will be able to drive again, but am not so sure about FIL. So, the only question remains is whether FIL will be OK after SIL leaves, because MIL won't be out of the rehab at that point. We're hoping to go on our vacation and then make a more extended visit to them afterwards, but I'm sure glad we bought the travel insurance. SIL leaves on Monday, so we'll need to talk to her tonight or tomorrow to see what she thinks.

Maintenance is as much work as losing, but it has the advantage of allowing us to do it in cuter clothes - BESSHAILE

Good morning. I came wide awake before 6 this morning. I need to reset the timers for the outdoor lights to reflect the equinox in less than a week, I had to turn the lights on to get the papers.

I had hubby drive my loaner car yesterday, and he really like it. He is actually willing to get rid of his bloody Mini now and think about getting a car I'm willing to drive on a trip. I didn't plan a trip at all this summer because I hate his car. I don't know how many more years of car travel we have left, motorcycle travel is now behind us, but I won't go on another trip in that Mini. He isn't capable anymore of the long hours behind the wheel, I'll need to do most of it. The stick shift models don't come with leather seats, but after a little research I find that aftermarket leather for seats isn't that big a deal. Expensive, but I am finding it's better leather than manufacturers will use. The dealer is keeping my car an extra day to do the airbag recall (I'd totally forgotten about it), so tomorrow when I take the loaner back and get my car, he'll come with me to have a chat with the sales side of the dealership.

Maree, the busier I am, the less I eat, too. Even busyness with cooking works.

Good Morning!!

I am having to set my alarm clock these days, now that mornings are darker on my run days.. This morning I plan to get out and run 60 minutes with 4 speed striders... Hard to believe race is next month.. Getting prerace jitters already..
I am doing yoga most days that I don't run.. Really helps with flexibility. My hamstrings and left hip have been so tight. I guess from running.. This weekend will be last long run before I start tapering. 15 miles planned.. Race is 10/08 starting at North Hills Mall here in Raleigh... So excited..

I am so grateful for this group.. I have lost weight before only to gain it back.. To me it is wonderful to have this group for support on maintaining the weight loss. It is just as hard as loosing weight.. My two year anniversary is coming up soon and I am just so proud of my accomplishment. My weight loss journey since I was a teenager, was like a yoyo.. I think I finally have learned the balancing act and it never ends..

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Good morning!

A great night's sleep--7 pm to 4 am, made up for the short night Tuesday night when I woke up at 2 am. I tried to get some tasks done after dinner but had nothing left and succumbed to the call my body was making for sleep.

Congrats on scale victory Bess and others who are on target. I have fallen back into scale avoidance and enjoying office treats.I can tell I need to cut out the treats, but was flattered last weekend when one of the transient boaters on the dock told DH that he was a lucky man, commenting on my pink bikini. I have noticed that I pass on food when I'm busy doing something I prefer (like dancing or visiting). Food just does not have the driving force it used to have over my life. That's a NSV!

Okay need to scoot. Traveling today, lean meals planned, mobilizing at crossfit. Time to Frontline dog and cat--they are itchy.

Hope all have a great day!!
