I got sucked into a book and read until 3 AM. Then up at 8 to get ready for DH's dr appointment. Spent half my day dealing with medical stuff - though mostly DH's, and only a little bit mine. Just, errands.

And strangely, I'm only starting to get tired now, at 9 PM.

Hope all you SE USA people are prepared for Matthew - he's looking fierce in the original meaning of the word!

Crazy day but I am watching the calories. Terri the uncertainty always drives me to distraction We live in a neat little beach community but our house is a bit unusual design. The previous owner built it and We got it below market value because he had so few offers. It really needed updating also.

Got a good ST session in yesterday. Today I am off to the gym for a cardio workout, with or without hubby. Not much of anything scheduled for today EXCEPT for a very important Giants game this evening. emoticon

The appraisal has been done on the new house. All is good. We got to see some pictures of the inside with the flooring, granite and tiled bathrooms. Trying not to get too excited. emoticon No word yet on our buyer’s loan and no other offers at this point.

Kellie ~ A walk in the park. emoticon How exciting to be there to give your daughter her medal.

Sunny ~ Glad you finally made it home. emoticon

Dee ~ emoticon Try not to stay too long.

Phebess ~ emoticon I hope we are able to sell so we can get away from this traffic.

Maree ~ I have been focusing on my booty and boy can I feel it. emoticon

Susan ~ So nice to see you. emoticon

Toni ~ How great to have your son as a coach. emoticon

Bess ~ emoticon on weighing in at goal.

Nell ~ Sending positive vibes to your son in his endeavor. I have a hard time not finishing a book, even when I don’t like it. Funny how this gets instilled in us. emoticon

Keeping positive thoughts and fingers crossed we hear something today.

Nell, I have a very hard time not finishing a book......not sure if I can get over that
The most difficult fiction book I ever read was Dr, Zhivago and once I got into it, one of the best. I had to keep r ferrying back to the list of characters in order to be able to read it. I think this one if the book I could read again.
Lots of kitchen work today in preparation for out Thanksgiving. No time for gym today but maybe a walk later

I finally figured out that if I am not enjoying a book, I can stop reading it. There won't be a test. Sounds so obvious, but it took me awhile. Once you're out of school, it's called reading for pleasure for a reason. There is always another book.

Checking in early on what is my Monday. I hope I get a regular work day and not a SUPER duper long one just because I had 4 days off.
I really enjoyed The Girl on The Train, but I''m not sure if I should stick with the genre or explore others. I'd hate to get stuck with a boring book. We'll see.
Have a great Hump Day teammates.

Happy Hump Day! Today may be my Friday - waiting to hear about work closures for Matthew. I'd rather be home than out in it, so cross your fingers.

Loving the book discussion and making notes. "Girl on the Train" is in my TBR (to be read) pile. My parents have a great Goodwill bookstore near them, and I LOVE that place. Will miss it when they move into my neighborhood (next year?). Maree - How is the Wright Brothers otherwise? I have several of his books in my TBR and have been eyeing that one. Though I'm trying not to buy many books because I have so, so many that I could read. Love Revolutionary, Colonial America history, so any recommendations, fiction or nonfiction - send them my way.

I really should apply for that library job, eh?

Got my ST in last night, cardio today. I prescheduled an early day off for today, but probably will stay a bit later than originally intended.

Good luck to everyone in their medical stuff, travels, real estate transactions, etc! Hope you all have a great day!

Hi all. Great posts! A round of applause!

I had a nice short run yesterday after work. The Halloween-like weather moved out and was more summer like but no humidity. It was wonderful!

I got my instructions for volunteering at the Chicago marathon on Sunday. I'm so excited. I'll be handing out the finisher medals. I hope I get to give medals to members of my running group and my daughter.

Continuing to work through the Spark Seven Day Bootcamp plan.

I got my ironing done yesterday, two hours of standing. Thank goodness for my audio book! I haven't used my iron in over 10 years, and it wasn't getting hot enough for linen, so I ordered a new iron. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow. I LOVE Amazon Prime!

I'll make up for the lack of steps today, lots of errands in big stores. It will be a cool and sunny day, perfect for parking at the back of the parking lots.

My son who runs the brewpub called yesterday, his loan for buying the building was approved. Now he will have his lawyer send the offer to buy. He is learning how different commercial real estate transactions are from residential. It's a LOT more expensive and convoluted. The owner of the building is a jerk (actually 3 jerks: three 30 year olds who inherited the property from their father). They have alienated all of the town personnel who are necessary in getting a project up and running. I sure hope they accept his offer to buy. They are trying to sell the block of buildings, but asking way too much money. I hope they have a good lawyer who can convince them of the realities of life.

Maree - your house will be so pretty you won't want to go to the River! Yeah. joke. but it does sound like it's going to be beautiful. Yay, Susan! So glad you're back. Terri - you should write a book about how to be patient through a house sale. and speaking of books - I am reading Libertarians on the Prairie - about Laura Ingalls Wilder and her daughter Rose W. Lane - who, together, wrote the Little House Books. These are pivotal books for me because not only did they speak to my romantic little 8 year old soul, they were the first books I ever read. Anything before that I was just listening hard and repeating what I'd memorized. I just finished Craig Shirley's December 1941 - a day by day account of that month from America's newspapers. It's a different way to write history - more journalistic than philosophic - but he will be our author at the coming library author dinner.

Dee - I only heard about Taco Tuesday as I was leaving work yesterday - but I don't do Tacos on Weight Watcher night. And speaking of WW night - I weighed in at goal, so I am doing the happy dance. This afternoon I will hit the gym and do strength training, with only a little cardio warm up.

Hump day, everybody.

Good morning!

Great to have you back, Susan. Looking forward to your pictures. You always take such beautiful shots.

I had a solid spark day yesterday with tracking and exercise. Picked up a routine on-line to prep for skiing in December. I have strong legs, but need to keep them that way as well as work on the flexibility required. I've hired my son to work with me once I get on the slopes--is that a great idea or what!? Makes me smile thinking about it and hopefully that motivation will get me doing all the squats and lunges required between now and then.

I think Nell is so right about the real estate deal, Terri, and it's hard to live through. So much waiting and living in a house that has to be 'staged' all the time.

Thanks to all for the book list ideas. Dee, I think you started all this with Girl on the Train! I'm reading a fun memoir right now, The Dirty Life by Kristin Kimball. It's about a woman in NY who falls in love with a farmer and the two of them try to make a go of it with an old fashioned farm (not much gas driven equipment). It's really well written and surprisingly compelling.

And thanks for the idea of audio books. I think I'll try it on a long walk today.

Good morning!

Up early (1:30 am) after succumbing to exhaustion at 7 pm last night. Six and a half hours of sleep--could have been better. I had planned to watch the debate, but a replay is on now anyway. Ugh, trying to do my civic duty, but so discouraging this year.

Glad to hear from you Sharon and that you are still enjoying running, especially after last year's injuries. Hope all those living near hurricane threats remain safe.

Love discussion on books, and have made notes on good reads. Although I love real, old fashioned books, the library's collection of audio books has been a great second choice. I've also downloaded books to my ipod and listened through earphones while cleaning house. Grateful to have those options. Listening to Wright Brothers biography now, but not impressed with David McCullough's voice...

Goodness, I'm sore from workouts. But will go to crossfit at 6 am, with running on the agenda today.

New garage doors were installed yesterday and they look SO much better. DH power washed deck and will apply new paint/stain after it dries out--probably Sunday. Moving along.

Good thoughts going out to all as we deal with life and work at healthy nutrition and exercise. Hope all have a great hump day!!
